    CORRECTION - I accidentally stated that bourbon needs to be aged in American oak but this isn’t true. It is aged in new, charred oak casks.

    Also can I just say, thank you for illustrating the "reverse dry shake" on the whiskey sour! Forgetting the dry shake is such a common mistake for me and I've always just kind of grumbled and moved on when it happens.
    One thing that I run into when double straining a sour is that, along with the ice, the strainer seems to hold back almost all of the foam. I run into this even when I just use the hawthorne. Any tips on how to avoid this? Or is it likely an issue with the tools and should I look for a less fine strainer?

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  2 года назад +2

      You can always reverse dry shake and then you should have no ice left in the shaker… so you can simply transfer the entire contents of your tin 👍

    Can u get sick from adding raw eggwhite to the whiskey sour?? Whats its purpose from adding or not, besides the name change? Some people think buffalo trace should be drank straight up, not mixed? 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  2 года назад +1

      You can get salmonella from raw eggs if they aren't clean or fresh... but as long as you use caution, it will be fine... raw eggs have been used in drinks for hundreds of years. It adds texture to a drink... Buffalo Trace can be included in a cocktail or straight, completely up to you.

    Great video! I guess I know what I’m doing next weekend! Just received notification on Amazon that your book is now on order and not on presale. Can’t wait! As for the Boston sour, please, let’s not give them any more credit than they deserve. It’s a whiskey sour!

    Hey Steve, have you heard of the Chuncho Cooler ? A great summer cocktail that uses Pisco (yes) ginger and a splash of Galliano. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Cheers

    Hey Steve, being in Adelaide myself one thing that confuses me is simple. I’ve always made my simple 2-1 but have realised when I’m out the sweetness and mouthfeel I’m used to making cocktails at home is different . Is 1-1 an industry standard here? should I be asking for “rich” syrup instead?

    Hey Steve. Sure you get this question often. WHAT is the DIFFERENCE between whiskey 🥃 and bourbon 🥃. See that. The same emoji comes up. I taste the difference. Like bourbon better. Like I think it’s called Woodford Reserve. Like any cocktail that’s sweet. Drinks that have chambord , grenadine or Cointreau, juices. Or simple syrup which thanks to you , my husband makes his own. Yess. Can’t wait for the book. A QR code to scan with a video making each cocktail? Wow. The gold rush is all ice 🧊 😂. The old fashioned my husband fav. He’s had them with whiskey, bourbon, rum or tequila. Mixologist were experimenting on our cruise. Great cocktails. Thanks so much and although I’ve heard great feedback from folks, can’t drink the ones with egg whites. Maybe if I was already sauced up and someone gave it me without me knowing 😂.

      The difference between whiskey and bourbon is liks the difference between rectangles and squares: all bourbons are whiskeys, but only some whiskeys are bourbons. Bourbon requires specific standards for the mixture of grains used, for how distillation is done, and for how and in what it is aged. Almost whiskeys have such standards, and many other American whiskeys even have standards in common, but the specific combination is unique to bourbon.

      Whiskey is distilled from a fermented grain mash. Bourbon whiskey is a subcategory of whiskey that has its own set of rules (made in USA, made from more than 50% corn, aged in new charred barrels and bottled at over 80 proof).
      Sweet drinks.. it sounds like you'll love all of these drinks: ruclips.net/video/eQDZNqdL1JQ/видео.html
