I'd tell whoever you know that can benefit from the inline math feature to keep bringing it up in the feature request section. It might not make the devs release it right away but they can put it in the pipeline. It's technically still in beta, so anything can happen. Anytype is a winner for me because of local first, encryption and self-hosting option that it will have. If the app didn't exist, I'd probably use Obsidian but I'd never go back to Notion. Really overrated imo.

No inline math in 2023? No deal. Thanks for the review. Sticking with Capacities.

As mentioned majority of people do not use inline math whether it’s 2023, 1999 or 2090 :-)

What a classy video. I've been using Anytype for a few days and am blown away. I think you nailed the Pros and Cons. My experience has been similar.

I teach math at a community college for a living, so lack of inline math is a deal breaker for me as well. Thanks for pointing it out. Now to go learn Capacities.

@@peemkamalanon4750 Hello. Inline math is when you have an equation or formula in the middle of some sentence. It's as opposed to have an equation separated out from the text in the middle of the page.

One thing you didn't mention is that at the moment at least you can use Anytype on mobile. You can't use Capacities on mobile at the moment unless you pay for beta. I need those apps to work well on the phone first, and be very easily accessible and usable in the small screen of a phone. I also found Anytype difficult to learn but I liked many things and I think the personalization thing is one othe things that make apps more pleasant to use. I feel like many apps are very insipid in that sense. Also, the security thing seems better than others. I still might give it another try or maybe use it for some things. Good video! 🙌

As a newbie to the PKM space I’ve tried Obsidian and Capacities prior to coming to Anytype. I found the learning curve on those apps way steeper than Anytype. Having now got into Anytype it’s definitely the one I’m sticking with.

I have an old love: obsidian. I have 2 relatively new loves: capacities & anytype. So i wanna marry them all. Do u think thats possible? Using different apps for different tasks: longform writing in obsidian is best. Dailies in capacities is really nice. And anytype for anything else:) will i go nuts with this concept:)? Maybe just hold anytype in rhe backhand.

    • @MegShinagawa

Honestly, it's all about what works for you. So if you can manage it, go for it! It's true that each app has its own strengths and weaknesses so mashing them up would be so nice hahaha.

It is better to use one system for everything, even with a couple drawbacks. You could waste time with searching for a specific note.
Except the areas are completely different and clearly sepererated . Like note taking and appointments.

My best recommendations would be Obsidian, Notion, and Capacities. Obsidian might be the most easy to input math. But it's not as easy to use. Notion is the all rounder and most popular. Capacities is an in between of the two.

Oooo. First choice is a hard question to answer as a productivity nerd. I think it is very close to being my ideal app, but there are features that other apps do better in. So it really depends on in what aspect you're talking about.
