- This Anytype review has been a long time coming. Anytype is a Notion alternative that is killing the game of productivity apps. The unique features of Anytype are what make it stand out from both Notion and Obsidian. This video goes into 3 key reasons why I think Anytype is better than Notion and if you stick to the end there is even a bonus tip! Be sure to let me know what you think about Anytype in the comments!

Hi! Thanks so much for this lovely review and for testing our product so thoroughly. We're thrilled to have caught your attention in these early days and looking forward to delivering some more updates that we hope will be exciting for you and your followers who are also part of our community. Cheers!
So glad you saw this! Hoping it can help share your platform with as many people as possible!
Offline mode is one of the key things I am missing in Notion. It is easily enough for me to try Anytype and move all my stuff over there
very true!
Any type requires a code. I went to their web site some time ago and so far, no code. This means, no Anytype for me. And if I can't use the app without having to log in, that is that. .
@@robertmaxey5406 It's available now. With Android / IOS as well
@@robertmaxey5406 Notion requires a password to login to your account. What is the problem in that?
Thanks for the video - great as always. Have you done a comparison of Anytype vs Capacities? I like the look of both, but not sure which will be best for my needs e.g. general note-taking, ideation, project management, research and academic writing. A comparison video would be great.
I just received my AnyType invitation yesterday, and I now have my account setup, looking to find more information about it, so thanks so much for your video!
I currently have a Coda Pro license, but I do find the offline ability, and especially the PRIVACY aspect to be a massive positive in AnyType’s favor!
I’m hoping I can accomplish similar to what’s possible with tables and relationships in Coda an Notion, since that’s the main draw for me with these productivity applications.
I’m really looking forward to learning and using AnyType!
That’s awesome!
Hi there and warm welcome to our community! Glad to have you with us on this journey - we look forward to improving functionality and delivering more features this year :)
Thanks for sharing! I've been meaning to try Anytype after Capacities felt a bit odd to me. :)
The privacy and security features are a top reason to hope this reaches a full development phase. Can't keep sensitive material in Notion atm, so we end up using alternatives like Joplin for journals, health information, and all that jazz - while using Notion for more general stuff. It seems that AnyType doesn't yet have equation functionality in its databases though?
It does not!
How did he manage to write additional words into the linking arrows in the graph view?
An Anytype tutorial would be great!
Awesome!
Lol. Ask them for it. Find it on RUclips. Or create your own.
Do you have a comparision video between Obsidian and Anytype?
can you make videos on workflow, I am still overwhelmed by the definition of sets, collection etc and how it's being stored, thank you
What if I had all my life organized in notion and I wanted to transfer it into anytype, with all my tables, pages, databases and stuff (just to try it), would it be possible?
It won’t be perfect, but it has an import feature you should try!
One thing I often think about any type is that is is trying to be notion and obsidian at the same time , and its interface might look cool but its complicated , notion is way easier , in case of safety you can always store important information or personal notes on obsidian , and just use notion to manage work space and thing like , todo list , habit tracker , team information and many more plus notion template list are on a whole another level then anytype and for linking obsidian is the best . So a/c to me anytype is not a long term player . its my personal view and experience as a 3 month anytype user . I will love to hear your take on this mr admin .
Please make more videos with examples of how to use it for what. I find it more suitable than notion for personal diary/journaling stuff
i definitely will!
I love Anytype but I wish there was more tutorial out there to get more out of it. I'd be interested in more videos!
I’m getting lost in anytype. I’ve not spent a lot of time in it, but it really seems your starting from ground zero in Anytype. It’s hard to focus when your presented with the whole world in front of you.
I’ll try to make more videos for it!
Great explanation! 👍
I'm still searching for the right app. My problem with most of the modern note apps: they are constructed for desktop in the first place and often don't even have a proper Android app - e.g. Anytype: only a beta, Logseq: no official one - or you almost need to be a tech nerd to understand/set up even the synch function.
I'm on the road almost every day but without a laptop, so I need something designed for Android in the first place, which I can synch with Win in the second place 😅
appreciate the insight here and comment!
I use the Journal by RM David sw
Any chance to compare that. I'm finding The Journal is bullet proof but the UX is a bit 1990s
Thanks for the comment!
Still no web clipper though
Also, what are the back ends to the off line databases?, SQL Lite?
I’m not sure
When will this be available to public?
the alpha is actually public I believe!
Can you please do a anytype Tutorialb
Yes!
Any chance to compare Any type with Obsidian, thanks!
I can do that!
Whoosh, great first (for me) look into Anytype. My way to watch Demetri's videos is to set 'em to 0.75 when you go clickin' around. I ain't 30 any more haha. But great, I've been nagging about the offline mode in Notion for so long, I might as well try this out. Also, Notion takes forever (compared to other apps) to open on iOS as soon as I've left it for a day.. Even on the OS it's slow, specially when adding a new tab, it seems like it's reading the complete contents from the start , doing some sync or whatever. Ain't bashing it just like that, I told 'em I still loved them but it's slower and slower.
Would love to hear an update after a year, and your take on the newest features.
will do!
Anytype looks fire 🔥 I'm really thankful for this video, great job 👌🏾
More anytype videos please 😌😌😌✨😃
Thank you! Will do!
Great work Demetrius. 😊
thank you!
How well does tasks work in any type?
It’s solid!
Can we set recurring reminders?
Yep, definitely switching over from notion. Something about Notion is just, idk, off…for my needs. Doesn’t feel as intuitive as it could be and this feels way more intuitive and works better for my flow
More anytype content please 🙏🏼
Uuu, great future Notion alternative, seems great, especially the offline mode and the open source stuff. Hope they make it to the market. And I hope they have a good Notion import that actually works (Coda, for example, doesn't work for me) to be able to make a transition.
I would love to see more videos like these. As a Notion user I'm interested in comparisons between the two + the import from Notion stuff, I hope it works for all kinds of Notion blocks.
definitely will have more of these coming!
Hi there! We're currently re-working our Notion import and we expect to deliver an improved version by the end of February. Hope it will suit your needs!
10 months on: what's the epilogue? Looks like you've stuck with Notion. Meanwhile, I guess Anytype has evolved somewhat. I'm a Notion user but considering making the jump.
Yes please...Anytype looks really interesting.
It looks cool for sure
I read somewhere that Notion's team is small. Maybe that's why they're behind on features?
yes please a more detail demo video.
Cool I will!
Anytype remove some import and export functionality. Maybe it's to help with rollout and then add features later
Thanks for the Video!!!
Appreciate the comment!
Why choose Anytype in 2023 vs Obsidian or Heptabase for example? I dont understand the point to dont have whiteboard/canva in 2023. Bit sad, because i like the background of anytype.
Personally I don't need a whiteboard. I know whiteboards from Logseq and I didn't like it there. Heptabase seems to be far better regarding whiteboards but personally I think it's laborious to manually draw the connections between notes, i just wanna type to which note I wanna link my current note.
I'd rather like to see something like an expandable concept map.
Is Fibery just as good as Coda and faster?
I’d say it’s different since there isn’t “pages” in Fibery but it’s very good
لماذا المقطع غير متاح
what clip
locally? OK, but what if your computer breaks down or your hard drive dies?
i'm sure there are ways to back things up. A great solution is storing it on a mirrored OneDrive or Google Drive folder
I am trying to use anytype but it asks me for invitation code can you tell me what is that and how can i get that ?
you receive it a little bit of time after you sign up!
so now you are using notion NAD ? confused
NAD?
Notion could use that graph view, and really the speed. Common notion make it snappy already.
Oh and why can't I consolidate databases into one view, like a calendar. Why notion
Why is right
I’m testing it on iphone and for the moment will keep using notion because anytype is too basic, with much much less features
Totally fair!
Anytype or Obsidian?
So I got good and plenty excited over any type. I signed up for a long wait, which is bull shit. Now I have to wait and sign up for some crappy web session? No bloody way. FU ANYTYPE! Good video, by the way. Screw you, anytype. Not pleased. All this crap for some Notion also ran? Sorry to be so pissy, folks. 😭
sorry to hear about this
@@DemetriPanici No problem, Demetri. I just think that no app is worth such a bother or wait. The last time I waited for an app to drop was when Green Poison was about to release an untethered Jailbreak for iOS.
Just let them know you don't need the web session. That is what I did and received a code the next day.
@@chris1le I simply said no and deleted the app. Why bother with an app that makes you jump through hoops like a circus monkey, just to get a peek inside the tent? 👀
anytype is like the linux version. that's what I can say after seeing it. it won't sell to the masses. it only sells to the geeks and nerds.
every app has it's demographic
Dude-can't help wondering: Why are you hiding behind your mic? Cardiod mics are designed with a field that works just fine pointed up at your chin. Talking into them sideways, from behind, looks rather strange, like you haven't figured out how to use your hardware. Or is it a visual identity thing of some kind? If so, never mind, go wacky. Cheers!
i just kind of like doing it lol
Great video... I only wish you move the mic closer to your mouth.
Well it has no operators to make your own functions like show me the next upcoming birthday like I can do in notion
One of many example that I fundamentally use in notion
Anytype has nothin like that on there roadmap and even Anytype sounds promising it missing a huge part for why I use note taking apps like notion
Far away from replacing anything
How come you have never reviewed Anytype? Wow, i once respected you. 😢😅😢
sorry I haven't gotten around to it
Explain how you start Notion without a net connection. If off line, you cannot get past the login screen. Notion is lovely, but a rather useless productivity app.
I mean, it's not great that you can't use it offline but most people work with an internet connection so I hear you but I wouldn't call it "useless"
@@DemetriPanici well, some of us go/work at places without Internet/cell access. I need to know I have access to my notes no matter where I go. Yes, in 99 plus percent of the cases, the net or at least cell access is no issue. In my work, 99 percent is not acceptable.. I do so want to use Notion, really.
Totally get it!
@@DemetriPanici I hate to disagree with you Demetri, but I will. I seldom do and I even added your name to my spell checker. First and last.
I need my notes where ever I go. I do like Notion, but I cannot use it.
Keep up the good work.
@@robertmaxey5406 it seems like their only point is that just because it is useless FOR YOU doesn't make it useless. clearly many people find it useful. You are generalizing your personal experience.
It seems too complicated to be practical.
that's fair
Νο :(
😂
