I just started onboarding a few days ago and I'm already in LOVE with Capacities. It combines the linking abilities of Obsidian, the database creation of Notion and the gorgeous text editing features of Craft. For me, that's the perfect trifecta. The structure does this a minute to wrap your head around, but totally worth it. Here's a super simple way to think about the structure: Object = Nouns, tags = adjectives. There are other ways to set it up, but that's a super simple way to think about it (no overwhelm involved).
Capacities is an incredible app I started using it to manage my school life. The graph view and tags and everything about has made everything so much easier to do and get started with. I really like how Capacities deals with linking content and links. Great Video!
I have just started using capacities! I can not for the life of me find a video in depth enough on the table you added. Could you do a video on this or explain how you added the option to disae the sections you were not using. ❤
Difficulty with dates is also my primary problem in Notion. It's why I never got into it. If I'm using a productivity app, I want to be able to track its date. But unless you create and start with the calendar database you can't really do that. Capacities is what Evernote needs to evolve into. A note-taking app that makes it easy to organize your life information.
Great video! Gives a great overview of Capacities' features and flexibility. Could you explain or make a video on how you added that grid block (your daily log) at 14:16?
For somehow, youtube recommend your video in my timeline and I watched it anddd I like how you explained things and yeah, now I am exploring Capacities and look so cool compare to notion. And agree with you, Notion is too tedious and I was lazy to setup everything. 😂
Capacities seems like such a nice combo of Notion and Obsidian. I'm going to try using it more often before fully switching, but this seems lovely. Thanks for the introduction :D
I'm in love with Capacities, the UI is simply so clean and minimalist. I will give it a try but the main drawbacks for me is that Capacities can't register / login with Google Account. I hope they can consider adding this in the future.
great video, Melody! thx for sharing ur setups. love the objects as the unit, and the back-linking w/this app. will wait for the app ver to come out before getting it deeper ps: super excited to see a productivity tool lover/reviewer from hk doing eng contents 🫡 all the best - keep it good, super hq content!
Thanks for the in depth review! I really like the Daily Note aspect. I think the only thing missing is the Eisenhower matrix... but I wonder, is that something that we can manually design ourselves?
I love everything about how you present this video - it is informative, very detailed, and yet you are there next to your sister who likes to show herself from time to time, you work in a messy room (which adds intrigue and character) and you hold a microphone (why?), and you have an amazing sense of humour - bring it on....please do more like this!!! 🤣👍
@@melocreating you should put in a feature request with them! I’ve started using this method to link journals into my daily note and it’s probably THE BEST way to do this. Thank you so much for sharing!
The app is for those who sign up to the believer status (I assume it will be also a basic feature, as increase the user base, once they are out of the testing phase)
You seem to use a great many tags so I wonder if you have any special way of organizing them since it would be hard to remember them. Do you just sort and search? Also I wonder what you think of a couple Chinese apps that are very Notion-like: Innos Note and SiYuan
tags also have collections so it’s easy to look for a specific topic! i use tags for really specific purposes or for words that represents a specific topic or theme that does not require elaboration so whenever i want to tag something i just put a # and type that topic- if it exists, i tag it, and if it does not, i create it! as for notion-like app, i think a huge part of the notion experience is the ecosystem (app integrations, multi-platform, import and export, etc), and seeing as notion has the most experience and connection in this field, i think it would be hard for other similar apps to compare/surpass notion:(
Wow, this is epic. You might actually cause me to finally jump from Notion. Are you still all in on Capacities, though? I see you playing around with other apps in your other vids.
i'm waiting for task management to be fully integrated, i do love seeing what other apps are up to but my main PKM apps are Capacities and Obsidian (for canvas) still
Thank you ma'am. This is really helpful. My only issue is that I've been building my 2nd brain in Google Keep fir years. I have to find out a way to import my items. besides that, thanks again!
they’re inherently different so it’s hard to compare, but i would recommend capacities to anyone who want a quick and easy start; and obsidian to anyone who prefer offline workability/reliability and a higher degree of flexibility and customisation (that ofc also comes with a sharper learning curve)
mainly bc they are very text based, and i am a very visual person (color with tags, emojis/icons, cover photos, different layouts, etc. are very important to me) but also bc obsidian and logseq can take a really long time to set up whereas Capacities fits my needs exactly

i’ve been waiting an app to organize my life, i used notion for over a year now and i kinda got bored of it so i’m so excited for this video!!
Yeah but if you just stopped using Notion because you got bored of it then you're going to stop using anything else when you get bored of it.
Thanks for the overview, I especially appreciate the type conversion part!

ooh your "timeline trick" using backlinks to show up in the movie's official-page is super clever!
Such a great video, Melody! :) Congrats, and thanks a lot :)
I really like, and think that it is the app I was looking for! Thanks!
First video of your channel that popped on my feed maybe because it is productivity based but I saw you haven’t uploaded in 3 months. Keep hustling!
Cool, I'm using it for my perfume collection
and also probably will use it for media and daily log when android app will be available 💅
great video, thank you for sharing it!
hey Melody! I signed up for capacities from you first introduced it. Cant wait to see how you use it and tweak my way around it
🫶🏻hope you enjoy the vid!

great videos! I am having trouble get stuff going and i got distracted too easily...it took me several days to finish this videos lool
Hi melody, I'm totally using this title for a Twos video ✌😂. Excited to watch how you use Capacities :)
i love this!!
Thanks for the helpful video. Did you try Anytype? Capacities behaves soo similarly to it that is crazy. It looks more polished though.
yes i did! i really liked the concept of anytype but was disappointed there was no daily notes:(

i hold a mic so i have something to do with my hands😂
Capacities is amazing app!
What’s your key decision of when to create new object vs collection vs tag
I want to know this to
How did you embed a day tracker in the daily note like that? Is it auto generated every daily note or do you embed one manually each day?
unfortunately i do manually add one each day😔

Thanks for this! Do you have any insight into their tasks management feature? I want task management too in my app hahaha
it’s still in the concept phase for now, according to their discord~ but i dont think it will work great for day to day tasks- it’s not made for that
Hi! Great video! Do u know how can I change the name of a Space?
thankssssss u the goat
this is a good review
what web browser are u using!!!? also i j switched all my notion stuff on here and im so happy
arc!!
I don't see the mobile app in the iPhone App Store for some reason...

Hi, any possiblity to undo a group? I tried group just to test but can't seem to undo it.
Yes, you just cmd-g again.
Does this have a ‘save to notion’
Like chrome extension?
not one that im aware of, but you can paste a link into the app’s command bar and it will automatically sort it for you
Where is your white jacket from?
Thank you ma'am. This is really helpful. My only issue is that I've been building my 2nd brain in Google Keep fir years. I have to find out a way to import my items. besides that, thanks again!
It looks very nice, but is it better than Obsidian ?
they’re inherently different so it’s hard to compare, but i would recommend capacities to anyone who want a quick and easy start; and obsidian to anyone who prefer offline workability/reliability and a higher degree of flexibility and customisation (that ofc also comes with a sharper learning curve)
It's so sad that capacities haven't a mobile app
But no tables in this app:(((
Idk but I’m from Spain and I can’t find this app in the App Store, there’s any reason?
the mobile app is only in beta right now so you have to be a supporter to be able to access it!
is there a template or soemthing for this, i love the look of it but its too complicated
it’s really easy to set up!
How did you make it so you had your properties on the left
change the layout in the object settings!
That was really helpful.. Thx
Why not obsidian or logseq? Because they are more flexible, I'm interested in your opinion because we have similar application requests 😁
mainly bc they are very text based, and i am a very visual person (color with tags, emojis/icons, cover photos, different layouts, etc. are very important to me) but also bc obsidian and logseq can take a really long time to set up whereas Capacities fits my needs exactly
@@melocreating ❤️
I wish Capacities was offline first. Only reason why I use Anytype instead
yeah Anytype is a solid option as well
@@melocreating Have you checked out the new features of Anytype coming out soon in the beta? Looks very promising!
seems interesting, has a mobile version?
only for believers atm!
Is this room bombarded?
Hi how can i have access to iOS app?
you download it via testflight after subscribing to their believer plan!
30 minute video? we’ve been blessed╰(▔∀▔)╯i’m so excited for the mobile app to come out for everyone!
