hi! may i ask how you learned english? i'm japanese, but my English hasn't reached your level!!! you're so cool!
I didn't really study it ;^^ I went to an international school from when I was 6 so I kind of picked it up naturally. But I have studied other languages and I recommend focusing on listening and speaking since Japan seems to focus too much on reading and writing (which are important, but makes it hard to actually acquire the language). Hope that helps!
@@MegShinagawa oooo that's pretty cooool! yes i have been doing it for 5 years!!! thx and you are cooool!!!! gl with your life and youtubing!!!
Kunisawa Find Flex Notebooks also fit in Travelers Notebooks. 192 pages, I think.
May I ask which medication did you take?

omg I'm with you sis, it's been nomadic for the past few weeks for me. I started with notion couple years but got to a point where it felt too structured and couldn't keep up with my changing needs/tasks. Then I've been on obsidian since last year ! worked great for abit especially as a person who knows coding however my main career is artistic and graphical based so it soon began to not make me excited about the visual/creative side of my projects. The current app I do love is Milanote and its honestly been really lovely to use, probably closest to being customisable yet simple enough to adapt to your current life system. I use it to with the PARA method and its definitely gotten me much more excited to being productive and organising my life in a visual way -- obviously the biggest downfall is the feature set for time management is non existent -- and your to do's just get lost inside boards :/ Sigh almost there but not :(
Glad I'm not the only one! So many apps, yet no perfect app *sigh
Depending on how you feel about thin paper/ghosting, TRC has a TOMOE river paper insert w/128 pgs (#13) and it's no thicker than regular inserts
Try Twos....I think the concept is simple like BEAR but it is very fun to use. It is the first time I've used an app every day. Its simple yet can be complex if you need it to be. They do have a few videos on their channel as well. I would recommend looking at their videos first hand instead of others who really haven't dived deep onto it. It can be so powerful...if you want it to be. Would love to know if you test it out...everything is FREE via web and gamified/paid on app. I was like this when i switched from click-up to ANYTYPE but ANYTYPE looks so good but no task management [calender sync/reminders etc] . But its such a beautiful app and complex. I went to Artful Agenda since I was able to digital plan without wasting time to write things [copy & paste] over and over again. But that didn't have the note structure I needed...so I have landed on TWOS and for funsies I use a digital Planner for the creative fun and notes but note planning...lol. Hope you find what you are looking for soon
Hey does it have all the notion features? (Like literally all of them! Blocks, colums, adding images, links, embeds, widgets, data bases, tables, page indside a page, etc?)
For the most part, yes. But it's important to understand that the structure of the two apps are fundamentally different. Notion has a database structure, where as Capacities uses an object based structure. You can do a lot of the same things in the two, but how that's done is very different if that makes sense.
What I have done with my tags is set tags up as if they are folders e.g. home, personal and so. I have then set up sub tags for each of these and then pinned them. This gives you are folder system. These tags are then added to the top of the note with a line underneath to separate them from the note. Any tags I use in the note then get listed under the pinned tags in A-Z order for quick reference e.g a name or a place or a note type say report. This gives me the structure I need with pinned notes like folders and other tags for quick access to a more granular search. Obviously you then have the search feature. I move from Evernote and to be honest have not looked back, as Bear gives me what I need. I also use Notesnook for more sensitive notes as they are hot on encryption.
For me, two things made it a non-starter. 1. Data is stored in the cloud. 2. Currently there is no mobile version.
That's fair!
What a fantastic video! I started using a bullet (A5, Bullet Journal V2, hardback notebook) in January of this year. I have mine set up very similar to yours. I love the look of the Traveler's Notebook so much, and have a bunch of ideas for using one, but I'm afraid I'll spend the money and hate it. Your video was perfect for helping me make the decision to order one! I'm going to go with a small shop from Etsy for the cover (I like supporting small businesses when I can.) But, dang, you really helped me!
Glad I could help!
Nice video :-) One big plus with using AnyType that you left out is that your notes/data is not stored in one place, but instead you will have a "backup" on all the devices you have installed AnyType on. If you use Notion, and Notion's servers break down or get hacked, then you will most likely lose your data. But with AnyType you automatically have it stored on multiple devices. It's a big security feature in my book.
Boy, you have a lot of options at your hand ;-)... The Twos app might be up your alley, as you can see the weekly or daily views to your liking. It starts simple and can do complexity as well... Noteplan on the other hand leads straight back into markdown territory, also offering calendar integration and markdown tasks with weekly views.
Hmmm, interesting. Tags and subtags were always the best organization experience for me in the app. This in combination with autocompletion used to fix all my organizaiton needs back in the day. Your video made me consider trying it again! I'd love for the devs to offer smart lists, a review system of sorts and better integration with other apps such as Things3. Meg, I wish you much power for the post-student get-your-life-in-order struggle! I feel you, being in the university business is a tedious energy sink at times. Oh, btw, since you are loving to test notetaking apps: have you tried craft app? It's an interesting mix between power and simplicity in a very beautiful (and native) experience. Cheers!
Amazing Love from India (Bharat)
I'm in a dilemma of choosing between 4 software which is notion, anytype, capacities and affine - I need an all rounder all in one productivity software, what do you suggest?🧐🤔
It really depends on what your needs are so I can't give you a clear answer. Here's my take on it though: - Notion: Best all rounder but can get laggy and heavy since it's online only and data security is not great - Anytype: Most secure solution for all rounder apps but has quite a steep learning curve - Capacities: The best balance of Notion and Anytype I haven't tried affine yet so I can't speak to it.
Organizing tags was my challenge with Bear. Mostly because the thousands of notes I would import already have tons of tags I added to make them easier to find, and currently folders are the only way I can find anything. It would probably take me months of full time work to clean up tags to make them useable again.
I definitely relate to that
Productivity apps are like a Black Hole - you never return back to having NO apps at all.
SO TRUE. Can't imagine my life without them anymore!
Why bear is better than Obsidian ? Because it’s more simple ?
Yes. And it works better on mobile devices.
@@majorgear1021 ok you right and about the graph ? We don’t have this view with Bear 🐻is it important for links 🔗 things ?
I wouldn't say that bear is better than Obsidian. It's just a matter of what your needs are in the moment and what meets those needs!
Great video! For more pages in the standard size, check out sterling ink, their N1 size is the travelers notebook size and they have 64 page, 200+ page and 500+ page options - but it uses tomoe river which is the same thin paper as the TN watercolour insert. I love tomoe river paper though so the ghosting doesn't bother me 👍
Why do these apps not have a draw feature this the only reason i will be using one note because i can take notes for math and science as well as english
Maybe try Superlist ? its nice looking to-do app. I's not for me, because it doesn't work offline (I have to sign in everytie when I'm without internet) , and it doesn't have windows app. I'm just like you, need excitement and cannot afford Sunsama for pricing. I like the way it's designed, I just want to minimize all apps I'm personally using, so I don't really need those crazy amount of integrations. I also wanted to switch from Notion to Capacities, but my biggest criteria - it has to work offline, and have Mac, Windows and Android app. So I maybe will transfer to Anytipe, but I'm just procrastinating to create all the structure and system I already build in Notion (and have to import all my data collected in years)
Love this breakdown!! <3
Thanks Wesley ❤️
Loved this video so much💖 it reminded me of how hobbies can literally recharge your batteries. I can’t wait to start making more time for them during the week☺️
See if 'Routine' might be a possible solution/
Nice overview, thanks!
Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful :))
Hi, thanks for sharing this vid. I've been using TN passport for 2 years now but i find it sometimes the space is too tight to write, i had to 'readjust' the size of my handwriting at times just to fit into the column (fyi, i use the dated monthly & weekly for my TN passport). I am itching to switch to the TN regular just because of this. Do you bring this as your edc? Does it feel heavy? I usually only use 3 inserts at a time.
I used to use it as my EDC. I've tried the cover with 2 inserts and 3 inserts respectively, and I think the cover with 3 inserts would be a bit heavy. I really wanted to like the 3 insert setup but it was a bit clunky because it was hard to get the pages to lie flat... I do think it's up to personal preference ultimately, but for me, I didn't find the 3 insert setup to be the best for my use case. Hope this helps!
Thank you for this, I’ve been thinking about getting back into BuJo but wanted something different than just a normal dot notebook ❤
Would you reccommend capacities or Anytype for a learning hub for ex online classes where I store both PDF files, class slides and my own notes for the different classes and lectures in a system that can be easily refernced by theme/topic for later to be implemented and written down in a business strategy?
I think it depends on how much time you're willing to put into setup. Both can do what you want to do, but I think Capacities has a milder learning curve compared to AnyType. If you want to just get started right away, I recommend Capacities. Hope this is helpful!
Great video and GitHub profile!! Definitely inspired me to start setting up a readme (The language icon row looks so clean!) Good luck on the job search from a fellow CS major! 🤞
Hey Travis! (I think you said in your video that that's your name? Sorry if I'm wrong ;^^) Thanks for watching and leaving a comment <3 Great connecting with a fellow CS major and RUclipsr!
i still use notion because capacities on android forces us to pay to use the app. :(
Regarding folders: have you tried the sub tags? For example, #love/bear ?
Yup! They can just get a little overwhelming when you start to break things down a lot hahaha
Meg, have you considered Europe for continue studyng, it is affordable and quality? Also, a lot of young people to meet and make connections.
Appreciate the comment! But, I really want to start my career now instead of going to another university.
Nice profile!
Thank you!
"... you have to be in the Apple eco---" CLICK!!!! ⏸️ I'm out. Any software worth paying for is available on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android.
the only con is - no mindmap feature ;( I need that
Aw, bummer :(( But it's good that you know what you need!
reminds me of objective based programming lol
I thought the same when I first started!!
I just switched to Capacities, hope it works, love its timeline, timestamp feature!!! cannot take the complexity and customization of notion and other apps.
where do you plan to continue your IT career, home or west?
depends on where life takes me I guess!
Hi Meg, have you seen the recent evolution of the DB version of Logseq? Maybe you should give a look at it, seems very promising. It implements the same philosophy as Anytype (templates from classes) but in a simpler way imo. PS: don't hesitate to reach out if you want to collaborate with me ;)
Cant download in mobile?
It's still in beta so it's not available to everyone yet!
Testei praticamente uns dez app desde o Notion, etc., acabo sempre voltando pro Anytype.
Do you still use Capacities? I started a couple of months ago and love it (and I like your video on it too). Task management is on their roadmap.
Aw, thank you! I don't use Capacities right now... But maybe I'll check it out again once they add task management fully :))
Sunsama totally rocks. I plan out EVERYTHING with Sunsama. Best Daily/Weekly/Monthly planner on the market. After trying almost EVERY (major) Project Management Platform on the market (Trello, ClickUp, Notion etc along with some of the smaller/minor packages too), I think I am going to settle on Asana. Why? It is focused on Project and Task Management and is not trying to be an "All In One" (AIO). The problem with the AIO Platforms (eg: ClickUp) is that they generally do MOST things ok (but not really well), and do some things fairly poorly (at times) because the system is "stretched" across a wide array of features. Sometimes it's just worth having the Apps you need for each function in your productivity system. Cost is a factor, but with the time you save with the right Apps, the money is less important as you can earn more money but you cannot buy more time. Planning/Task/Email Consolidation = Sunsama Email = Missive (also integrates nicely with MANY Project/Task Managers) Small/Personal/Quick Capture/One Off Tasks = Todoist Larger/Complex Projects/Tasks = Asana Notes (Basic) = Reflect Notes/Research/Learning/Complex Notes = Heptabase
You might give Structured a shot. I recently tried it and as a fellow ADHDer I found it to be a good mix of fun and structure.
I'll check it out! Thank you ❤
The fun factor is missing in many of these apps. Amazingmarvin, though a bit pricey, has a lot of different ways to configure it so you can find the system that will work for you and also gives you statistics that can help motivate and has calendars built in. I don’t like that when you finish a task it disappears either. It kind of takes the joy of feeling like you’ve accomplished something. I have problems with pretty much every single app I’ve tried in the last year.
As a digital nomad myself, as well as having ADHD, I understand the pain and frustration. One app that works for me is Capacities. It's a newer app but it's really good and checks off some of the boxes that you mentioned. Good luck!
I actually have a video on Capacities because I love it so much for note taking! But when it comes to tasks, it's not ideal for what I'm looking for... Love that it's working for you though! And thanks for commenting :))
I like your quote ' Everything in life is incomplete all the time'
Glad it resonated!
