Was great to see Ao pop off. But what I REALLY want to know is if Higher recorded the 'Charles sacrifices Ao to Ashnod's Altar and looks at the top Seven cards of his deck' individually or did it once and looped it.
Ah, dangit, I screwed up Game 2 and didn’t sacrifice Sanctifier En-Vec first before I sacked Ao at around 17:50. Higher, we’re gonna have to redo this and you’re going to have to read everything again lol.
didn't you have the win already once you had bomberman out and LED in yard? make infinite mana, sac a creature pay for deathmantle vial damage triggers and rinse repeat?
@@gorzakMtG Yes. However, in the audio of that game, Cal wanted to know if I could loop through my entire deck and win with RoL in play, so I showed him I could do just that. This way, you can see as many of the win cons in this deck in one showing since I flip through a large portion of it.
I saw it coming when Nim Deathmantle was ignored. In fact, it should be the most valuable card alongside Ashnod's Altar for game 2, as they can loop with anything that puts an extra creature on the battlefield: persist/undying creatures, creatures that make tokens when they enter or die, creatures that reanimate when they enter or die, and so on.
First game was nuts. Nobody paid attention to Charles due to mana screw, and ended screwing everyone else XD. Game 2 no one expected the combo (me neither) and...... kaput, everyone else's dead.
8:39 Fun rules fact: If a creature changes controllers during the combat step, it is removed from combat. It might have been the correct choice to activate the Path now, of course. This is just something to think about in the future!
Ao is stronger than it seems. Phyrexian Altar plus Helm of the Host is a free Ao trigger each table rotation. Nim Deathmantle is very strong too with the Altar. And there are two or three draw engines in white which give you cards for putting onto the field low mana value creatures.
Ok but seriously, where are people finding these nice full proxies for their decks! I want to do something similar and I’m curious if there’s some sort of mass entry I can do
What's that "chains of mephistopheles" Adam's deck runs in the second game coming into play at 13:09. That card only exists in two old versions, it's a proxy I assume?
The list I ran didn't have enough of an artifact density to really make KCI work. On top of that, KCI is 4 mana which eats up one whole Ao trigger, whereas you ideally want a permutation of 2 2 drops or a 3 drop plus 1 drop so you're netting positive on each flip. In Higher's version of Ao, he's running way more artifacts which makes KCI more viable there. His version also forgoes more of the stax to B-line in a faster combo win.
@@Ilvaldi Right. Enough artifacts, though, and KCI seems like a worthy inclusion. I feel like it wouldn't be too hard to hit a critical mass of artifacts. All those mana rocks basically pay for another activation and then some. Definitely more for an all-combo deck. I'm probably going to have to work on a list now.
As someone interested in starting their own MtG gameplay channel, playing with others long distance, is there any equipment you could suggest starting out?? Card pool is no issue, it’s just the camera and such.
Great to see Ao loops. But couldn't he have stopped when he had bomberman online and flipped into the ranger captain? He get's ballista with captain to win....though not nearly as interesting lol.
Cool games guys. I might be missing something, but Nim Deathmantle's trigger costs 4 and Charles is only sac'ing 1 creature most of the time? That's 2 mana short each time.
Spoilers! Couldn’t Charles have made infinite mana through Auriok salvagers and LED that second game, and looped LED with extort triggers through blind obedience to win? Am I missing something?
I could have killed them with the Salvager combo, but they wanted to see the other combo kill, which involved not needing cast anymore spells after the first spell was cast.
When Ao was being looped by Deathmantle why did he only need to sacrifice one creature to ashnod's alter and not two? Doesn't ashnods give 2 mana, but you need 4 mana to activate nim deathmantle? What am I missing?
First game : Any reason Adam attacked Cal with his double striked 14/14 ishai rather than Charles who clearly was a bigger threat at that point ? :/ I can't see clearly the board of charles but afaik he didn't have a blocker. Second game : why didn't Cal cast his brainstorm during the endstep of Charles turn 1 ? He would have had his two mana free during his turn, meaning solring into malcolm T1 was a real option. Is it to draw an additional card before fetching ? (I'm not asking to attack the play validity but to try and understand the strategy behind)
"This is a budget-list version of Yuriko" ...opening draw contains Chains of Mephistopheles... Different definitions of budget, I guess. TCG mid of $1,583.93?
If You’ve ever complained about krark but thought the second game was cool and fun, you’re just jealous you’re not the one taking all the game actions. The Ao loop is definitely cool but if I were in the game I might have gotten up to get a snack
Couldn’t Charles have won the moment get he got Auriok Salvagers? Make infinite mana for Nim Death Mantle and then proceed to keep looping without having to do the very time consuming resolving of Ao triggers. Although I do get playing it safe and having as much on the board as possible.
I was thinking the exact same thing. If somebody was going to interact, they would’ve definitely done it sooner and not waited that late in the combo to do it.
Yes, but the players wanted to know if I could win without ever casting another spell again, so I did the non-deterministic loop in the deck to give them a demonstration. This way, to the viewers, they can see what other win cons exist in the list as I flip over through most of them. There’s quite a few combo lines in this deck.
@@Ilvaldi That’s cool nice demonstration of “challenge accepted” especially when you get to show off your deck instead of winning with a known loop.
