I like Higher...I do. You could tell he was getting better and more comfortable as episodes went on. But Ryan is just *chef's kiss*. That yell from the distance moment was so perfect.
@@dtail74 I'm not sure, so if Higher does use those particular pronouns, then I will need to apologize and correct my comment. Would not have been intentional.
Small nitpick, when the Dress Down is in play creatures lose all abilities, meaning Sakashima would lose the legend rule doesn't apply ability meaning one would have to be sacrificed. Not sure it would affect the gameplay, still a great game!
Welcome back, Ryan! There was a pretty serious misplay in game 2 with Krarkashima triggers, though. Each trigger resolves independently, and this would have resulted in Noah losing to Pact triggers when fighting over Tainted Pact. Here's the stack: Thoracle ETB trigger, Tainted Pact, Pact of Negation targetting Tainted pact, Krark trigger, Saka trigger. Saka trigger resolves, copying Pact, targetting Tainted Pact. Pact resolves, countering Tainted Pact. Zack has 1 delayed Pact trigger. Stack now looks like: Thoracle, Pact targetting now-gone Tainted Pact, Krark trigger. Krark trigger resolves, copying Pact of Negation, which is forced to target the original Pact of Negation. Copied Pact resolves, countering the original Pact, creating a second delayed trigger, which Noah couldn't pay for. Zack probably still wins, but worth noting for the next time someone decides to make everyone suffer with Krarkashima 🙂
I’ll copy my reply I had for someone who had the same question: When the copies are created, the player may choose to pick new targets. In this case, he would leave it as is, irrespective of whether the targets remain legal, therefore the original and copy would fizzle, meaning only has to pay for the first copy that successfully countered the Tainted Pact :)
Hi, I love your Gameplay Guys! I just wanted to say I spotted a little error in the game, where Zack tried to winn with Tainted pact on the stack and Noah countered with mindbreak trap: Since both Krark and Sakashima-as-Krark and esper Triggers trigger at the same time, and it is Zack's turn at the moment, his trigger will go on the stack before the Krark triggers do, so he could't have drawn the pact with the esper trigger. I play Krarkashima myself and I think it is a great deck to find the little subtleties that mtg rulings account for! It was great fun watching the viedeo and congrats to Noah and Zack on their wins!
It would be cool to do a video of cedh decks from different eras fighting against each other. Seeing a paradox engine deck vs a deck from now with dockside and breach etc
This game actually made me learn how to navigate into Krark/Sakashima, where countering the original one *if successful* will bin it rather than allowing them to continually recur something like gitaxian probe to their hand. I haven't seen this being listed anywhere, so very much appreciate the tip going into this degenerate deck my friend decided to build!
That second game was one of the best cEDH games I’ve seen in quite some time. I kept thinking Krarkashima was going to pop off but the interaction was crazy good
Guess who's back? Back again. Ryan's back, tell a friend! First and foremost welcome back Ryan I hope all is well for you. And definitely give a bit shout-out to Higher for wonderfully holding the fort while you were out.
Completely off top. Watching Hot Ones with Sean evens and the episode was resonating with me for some reason and then realized it was playing the same sound clip you guys use and it made my day and I had to come here and share that.
Is ryan back permanently? Hope he was able to resolve whatever pulled him away previously. Alex did a great job listening to feedback and adjusting, but he just doesnt scratch the cedh itch like ryan does.
could that bolas citadel combo be pulled off with any BX commander? I think so right? oh wait.. no, it has to be green as well for culling ritual so any Golari+ commander will do really. Muldrota could play things out of the graveyard again should you fail at the combo I guess
Can’t imagine the smile on my face when I hear your voice again! Thank you so much for bringing you back! Miss you so much and miss the pace so much too! I finally enjoy a episode of this channel again.
At around 13:40 I believe there is a mistake, which could be relevant (didn’t watch the rest of the game). Okay so on the stack we have (from bottom to top) thassa s oracle trigger (not relevant here) tainted pact, pact of negation (targeting tainted pact) and both krark triggers. The first one resolves and we have another pact of negation targeting tainted pact on top of the stack. The top pact of negation should resolve countering tainted pact. Then second krark trigger resolves creating another pact of negation which has to target the other pact of negation because it’s the only legal target. That one will resolve countering the last pact of negation. All of that could be relevant because Noah has to pay for pact twice (once per pact that resolved). While Noah played it out as resolving both krark triggers at the same time, which makes it so that the 2 new pacts can target tainted pact therefore only having one pact resolving and only one pact to pay for. Could other people confirm if I am right pls?
So if I am right Noah would have lost on the next turn, due to being unable to pay. So yeah pretty relevant mistake. Eta: Pact of negation being chosen as the most valuable card is funny cause it should have killed a player.
@@ryznak4814 When the copies are created, the player may choose to pick new targets. "Copy that spell, and you may choose new targets for the copy" - MAY being the operative word. The copy is created targeting the same thing as the original, even though Tainted Pact is no longer on the stack, so you're safe from having to pay for a second pact by just not changing the target.
MVP card in game 1 (spoilers below + discussion) What about Culling Ritual? Awesome that turn 2 win was, Ritual still would've bought a lot of time as a mana rock destroyer that also accelerated, it happened to accelerate into a game win.
lands are colourless, and verdant catacombs doesn't have any mana symbols in its text, so its colour identity is colourless (ie it is legal in any commander deck, even if the commander isn't red nor green)
I'm pretty sure when Dress down resolved, Saka or Krark have to be sacked to the legendary rule. Saka loses "Legend Rule doesn't apply" and it's named Krark, the Thumbless
A counter needs a valid target to resolve. When you have multiple copies the others just fizzle because the last copy is the one that actually counters the target spell.
Welcome back Ryan! Took me a minute to realize the narration change, Higher has been getting really good at it!

I always forget about that because Sakashima the Imposter keeps her name.
Orrr would sakashima just be 3/1 and NOT a copy at all?? I’m wondering here??
The description of Sakashima and Krark at the beginning of game 2 was brutal, I laughed hard on that.

Wait wouldn't Dress Down make Sakashima loose the "legend rule doesn't apply" and thus kill it (or Krark) since it's a Krark?
JUDGE!!!!! please answer this questing!
Yes, Dress down would cause one of them to need to be put into the graveyard due to the "Legend rule."
