Shorikai pilot here. Stax is super easy to play, I dunno why you feel that way. I just treat it like coding. If (x), then (y). IE if ETB Torpor, if Activated Cursed, if land ramping Winter Orb, if none of the above Humility.
It’s about communication. If you can’t observe and communicate, you’ll never win. You have to politic every game. It’s actually an incredibly strong archetype, most people just struggle with communication and seeing lines.
IMO stax isn't difficult to play, it's getting other players to see the value of the pieces placed down without flatly spelling it out who you're aiming to stop (because then they remove you entirely instead). You can do everything perfectly in a stax deck but if an over anxious player is more focused on setting up their win at an inopportune time vs waiting until they can securely win, they just open the floodgates to everything held back or amazing top decks. Like if sisay with silence is on board, even if they don't have the card in hand, thats not something you leave while remove deafening and creature etbs instead lol. It is hard to rely on other players game sense for your deck to navigate well tho.
@justaperson5092 to hell with that, I tell people EXACTLY what my intent with a certain piece is. If it stops two people, fine. But I'll absolutely explain how it's immediately stopping one person before the other, and the latter will usually let it slide. The biggest, and most important part of playing stax is game sense, and awareness. Actually it could have mattered - If Dylan had responded to the first Safekeeper activation (with E-wit on top), Cam could have protected Nadu with the second land. If Dylan had let the first nadu trigger resolve so he could wait for the second activation, the card on top would be unknown.
One thing I’ve noticed with CEDH players and Nadu is they run the creatures with landfall make a creature but I don’t think they run enough lands to reliably hit off the nadu triggers. Maybe it’s just the games I watch but I’ve seen a lot of nadu fizzles

Love seeing Sisay do well. She has never been in a better position. She has the highest win rate in cEDH tournaments and an amazing top 16 percent. ComedIanmtg thinks it is clearly the second best deck in cEDH right now after blue farm and I agree.

Yep, I feel like there were some massive misplays with Gaea’s Cradle. I would’ve preferred the line of using it to cast an Overloaded Cyclonic Rift then when it comes to your turn again use cradle for mana. There was also the line of eternal witness.
I was watching with the silver safekeeper.Trigger not to trigger resolves first, so you can actually let your nadu.Trigger resolve first and then see what you get and then hold priority on the silver safe keeper trigger and then sack another land if you want to

Sisay is that deck that is so unaffected by most stax effects. It is so hard to navigate a board state with stax pieces that affect that deck and yours, since 1 card is enough to win them the game if sisay is on board. What a nice game. Really well fought one
At 7:25, wouldn't the Elk lack Nadu's ability? since it had it before it got transformed and robbed of its abilities? or does it retain the ability regardless of Kenrith's transformation as long as Nadu is there
Cam, you can actually do the safekeeper activation, trigger nadu to see what you get and then when it goes back to the stack you can hold priority and sac another land, so you have more information if you want to really sac a land.
Man it was kinda hard watching cam fall down the sylvan safe keeper trap with Nadu lol. It’s too easy to just sac all your lands hoping to replace them and keep going.

The One Ring reads: "When The One Ring enters the battlefield, if you cast it." Metamorph enters as a One Ring and then triggers the One Ring's ETB and the Metamorph was cast fulfilling the triggers condition.

And if your not legally supposed to play on such a point is it strategic to play something then go to change phases causing the mana an opponent floated from using a mana source that would be unavailable upon the spell resolving so that opponent actually doesn't have anything to "respond to" as a way to "gain priority?" i would like to add i'm still in the "ban Nadu" camp, if you don't shut down it's ability to "free target" as soon as one such of those cards like Shuko show up Nadu just wins the game from there. And the King Seas Blessing card while it's a massive high synergy for Nadu it's really only good if you have 7+ creatures one of being Nadu on field otherwise it basically does nothing. I'd say the same for it's green counterpart. The game would had been VERY different if the Shuko had resolved and was made use of even if for four activations. When i do my Nadu deck i will not be doing Sylvan Safekeeper even if he's high synergy because ideally your gaining the lands back it feels like too "high risk high reward" for what you could be doing.
The second part makes no sense, but the first part is right on the money. Before moving each phase there is a round of priority, but 99% of the time it is a shortcut because people don't have a response. If your opponent has a Counterspell, you can Strip Mine one of their lands. If they float the mana, you state that you want to change phases (ie. go to your post combat main phase) and their floating blue mana will disappear, allowing you to cast your spell without getting it countered. If you look up "MtG with a Chess Clock" you can see how many times priority is passed.
When you move to a new phase every player gets the option to respond. You're probably most familiar with this as a response to ending the turn but it's every phase and you can do things like cast instant speed discard effects during someone's draw step.
I think cam should have use minamo to untap his phyrexian one ring more often 😅 as the game had more stax being played and he would have more time with a bigger burdened one ring out
Since the Metamorph enters as a copy of The One Ring, it _is_ the Ring when it enters the battlefield. (Any effect that says that a permanent enters as something, with something, doing something or in some state is a replacement effect - it modifies the way the permanent enters; it's not a trigger.) So the ETB triggers, and it checks whether the permanent was cast, and it was.
You made a rules mistake here, and I haven’t seen anyone else point this out, likely because of how unintuitive it is. Adding and removing abilities happens on the same layer, so when there are 2 things on the board trying to add or remove abilities, we look at timestamp order. For example, if a Scute Swarm was on the board with Nadu trying to grant it a busted ability, and a Kenrith’s Transformation trying to take away all abilities, you would look at time stamps to see what you apply first. In this case, Nadu was on the board first, which means that your Newly An Elk would gain the ability but immediately lose it, so you don’t get any value off of targeting it. It doesn’t matter here, but it might be relevant for the future, especially for the Stax player in the pod.
Kenrith’s Transformation is an aura so it requires a legal target to even cast it, the targeting of nadu is what triggers the ability sot he Aura is still on the stack. But you are correct in once the aura resolves it no longer has Nadu's ability unless Nadu is recast or flickered

Shifting Woodland seems strong in Atraxa as basically an uncounterable Food Chain if it goes to the yard. Not sure where to make room for it yet tho.
