I have a 66 4door nova I'm putting a stock 80s 350 in before I mod it to get all the kinks worked out ( stripped everything wires and all out of the car ) so I really appreciate these videos. Nice car by the way it's sweet!
I bought one of those engines frome Pace Pontiac back in 2001. $1999.99 plus $200 shipping. You could get vortec heads for $399/pair assembled. This makes me feel old.
@trilliondollarman2514 I've been 7.84 at 88, so his trap speed is completely plausible for the et. Also, my truck ran within a tenth on the track at a no prep day to what it runs on my road according to dragy. You're right, they are satellite, and there can be some discrepancy. But it's not near the fuss you're making. I agree. He should run it on a track. Probably 60 slightly better on prep and et better, not worse. That crate is more like around 350 hp, and 3000 pounds isn't much. It wouldn't take a billion hp to be quick.
@@dw8840 the 350HO is rated at 330hp but I've seen a dyno sheet with it making 347hp. Its the same exact longblock as the ramjet 350 which is rated at 350hp.

Don't know why people do "budget builds", unless it's just an excuse not to do it right. Just put the money away, or collect the parts over time... then when you're ready, do it.
budget doesnt always mean "cut corners" and "doing it right" is subjective. its really about a well thought plan more than anything, money included. people go out and spend a ton of money and still have a turd.

Excellent engine for the streets! I had a similar engine with vortec heads and it was amazingly reliable. Cool video! 👍🏻
Thank you

Chevrolet is rather proud of their crate engines these days.

Yep, and people on a "budget" never get what they really want, but use the budget as an excuse.
