Good stuff man! Thanks for sharing the info with those of us that wish they could be doing what you are doing. Also, something about stock vortec heads running 10's warms my cockels.
Love your videos I was just on the phone with Mark of Vortex Pro telling him you released a new one he said he's going to watch as soon as he gets home
Thanks for sharing such detailed and informative videos! I'm looking to swap out to vortecs on 355 that currently runs a solid flat tappet camshaft, curious how you set up yours for that? Did you change to screw in studs, use the self aligning rockers? I don't know what to expect with setting lash (my cam has .020 INT/EXH) with the stock style rocker, I'm also on a budget not wanting a machine shop bill. Any input you could share would be greatly appreciated.
@jeff1710-y3d Nice, I plan on making a video on it this winter. For now, I'm using pressed in studs and ls6 springs. I have used stock rockers without a problem, but I don't recommend it unless using poly locks.
I've been running the 406 and the 355 for 40 years, my experience is to put a power adder on 355 because of the load of the Piston rods on the block the 355 will be more reliable the replacement for displacement is boost or NOS
You put a bigger convertor in the 357 with the sportsman heads and that car will go into the 10s . You can hear it drop to much rpm on the gear change . I had basically the same combo in a 2900lbs car and ran 10.75 @129mph . My convertor was 5000 but a 6000 would of dropped my times more . Great video
It says at the beginning of the video; Unknown horsepower number for the mystery 357 415 for the 350 with vortec heads 450 for the 400 with vortec heads
@doneagan2094 I had to get out of the throttle before the end of the 1/4 mile. The 400 engine still has stock 5.565 rods. I didn't want to chance a rod failure. It would of went around 123 mph. It didn't effect ET much.
Awesome job! This is Chloe from AUXITO, we love your content and would like to invite you to review our LED bulbs for your car. May I know your email to send the collab details? Thanks!😉
Awesome comparison!! Love the 400 small block ❤😊

@@nylegreen261 Thanks for the response, look forward to that video! And other video's as well 👍
Any idea why the 400 is surging like that at lunch?
@patrickm.8425 Yes, I need to add jet extensions to the rear jets.

What about a gear vendors to split the gears
Sbc 383s run pretty damn good to.😎👍
@@itseithergonnaworkoritaint7852 Nice. I would like to get my hands on one.
Like to see a junk yard 5.3 lm7 vs a junk yard 5.7 l31 and maybe a 150 shot to see a extreme budget 11 second combo.
@benhoke6330 Yes me to. I have 6.0 ls sitting here. I do plan making a few videos with it. I will be able to compare it to the sbc.
Sounded like the 357 fell on its face out of the gate.put the roller cam and new heads in the 400
@robertwetherington3372 Yes I agree.
Cool deal!!!!
@@GrandPitoVic Thank you
I've been watching your vids and noticed that 357 had a Dominator on it, any reason your not running it?
@conservativecrusader80 Yes, I want to do a comparison down the road. 4150 vs. 4500
He's on a budget?? Sheesh. He spends his money like no problem. I can barely afford an oil change.
@doneagan2094 Yes, I'm on a budget. I usually buy junk and hold onto it forever. LoL. Car has been the same since 2008.
It doesn't get more budget than this sorry

11 seconds worth

I've already ran both different types of motors Andy's apples versus oranges you can't compare a 350 to a 400 there's no comparison

@@glennmanchester5696 Yes 408
We rebuilt a 72 Camero with double hump heads and put a 292 duration cam in it and it was quick and kept up with big block Chevelle
The 400 only went 111 mph. The other two went faster.
