Damn that’s the strongest running 305 I have seen. I played around with a 305 In a 1978 Chevy Monza Spyder in the mid 80s It came stock with a 305 with 140 hp at the flywheel. I put aluminum Edelbrock dual plane intake and a 600 cfm carb. Plus a edelbrock performer plus cam, I ran true dual exhaust and stock exhaust manifolds.
    Put a B & M shift kit in the
    Trans.
Ran my buddies bone stock new 1985 Buick GN which was rated 200 flywheel hp. Beat him by 5 car lengths and was still pulling away. We raced probably 20 times from a roll on and a dig. He said you finally put a Chevy 350 in that Monza. I said it’s still the 305. He said damn that engine runs great. Believe it or not I beat many new muscle cars in the mid to late 80s with that little 305 Monza Spyder.
Bought the wife a 1984 Pontiac Trans Am in 86. It came with the 190 hp 305 HO automatic. It ran a best of 15.40s at 87 mph at the track. . Only raced it at the track once.
I impressed with the performance you have got out of your 305. I would lose the single plane and go back to the dual plane.,

Cool build! Seen all your videos. If you use a dual plane with a spacer between the intake and nitrous plate, that will work fine. I have also milled down the center divider on a dual plane and run a nitrous plate right on top of the intake. A 150 hp shot of nitrous will not hurt that 305. Just make sure you add the supplement fuel for a nitrous solenoid from a electric fuel pump with a regulator to keep the fuel pressures constant. In addition the nitrous jetting chart from nitrous outlet are actually pretty close to optimal tunes. I think 150 hp shot will get you close to mid 12s. Probably need a loose converter to get into the 13s na.

One day maybe you can bump it up to 10 - 10:5.1 compression. A set of worked over Vortec heads to go with that big cam would pickup a bunch of power!
And a 3200-3500 stall is only going to help you. And leave that "Boss Frog" on the pavement, get a decent Freak Show converter.
What trans do you have? If you haven't already, upgrade it and put a manual shift setup in it, make it as hard hitting as you can, that will knock off more time.
Depending on how far you want to go, every pound of weight you knock off of it is free horsepower!
It's getting faster, love it! Reminds me of building my first car back in the 80's. Keep going, you're kicking butt! 💪👍

Yup, you nailed it at the end... dual plane + converter. IMO - it would run a lot better with an RPM or RPM air gap style intake and a 3500+ converter. My friend Matt Walter had a 305 20-ish years ago that was very quick. I want to say low 13s or high 12s. His car was light, but the combination was simple. @MattWalter1 Maybe he'll see the tag and chime in.

👍 Been looking forward to this one for while. :-) Interesting results, it does sound like a higher stall will improve the 60ft by a bit, you can hear the engine stay at a constant rpm for a sec after launch before increasing in rpm. I'm no stall expert so a higher stall could hurt the performance and street ability a bit but it's worth a shot to break into 13s, your so close. Thanks for the videos and I look forward to the next one!

Ya. Lost alot on the low end with the single plane and the cam. Your previous combo worked really well with the milder cam and the 107LSA. The 110LSA on the 280H and the 230deg duration probably isn't doing you any favors. Those heads would benefit from a higher lift cam with the porting you did tho. Ive heard they flow close to the stock 305 vortec heads when ported and they flow very good up to .500-.525 lift and fall off after that. Those 081 heads are going to be close to what stock vortecs flow. Looks like your on your way to dialing it in. Looking forward to the next vid. Cheers👍

You're right there where I was with my '64 Buick Skylark with a Vortec sbc 305 topped with a RPM Airgap and 1.6:1 roller rockers. It had a 700R4 with a 3.73 rear gear.
It still had the factory roller cam, was a very fun car to drive and got very good mileage. More cam with more lift would of helped a lot. But I stopped driving it when the gas tank fell off at the track.😂 The fuel hose dragged it, I ended up putting the tank in the trunk and routing the fuel line to drive it home.
If you get a chance to score a set of 305 Vortec heads, do it, they'll probably drop another .2 to .5 off those times? Use a set of 1.6 rockers with them. Make sure you do what is necessary to run higher lifts with Vortec heads. Unless you get the new ones GM is having EQ make, those are already machined to handle the extra lift and they are machined for screw in studs. Or run what ya got?😎👍

They say you learn from your mistakes and I've made a boat load in my time. First i want to say good job with the testing and taking the guess work out of what works and what don't. If you don't mind a few pointers from the mistakes I've made back in the day i believe you could save some time and money hopefully. First off i know and understand your wanting to make the 305 better and you're do great but it is what it is. Now everything performance you get like camshaft and intakes is based on the 350 especially camshafts so if a cam card says it's 480 lift and a mild idol it won't be in a 305. But by now I'm sure you've figured that out. My opinion is and you can take it for what it is " my OPINION " you have just about everything you need to go into the mid to upper 13s. The only thing I see you should've gotten was a 10" converter with 2200 to 2600 stall. That with the dual plane intake 1.6 rockers pretty sure that's the setup that would work best. Like I said it's just my opinion. Good luck with everything you do and have fun while you're young. JS

A really good double plain intake would work way better for this application. A single plain intake is great but for upper rpm situation not for street stuff really. You always wanna match cam and intake together with the heads and you will get better torque and all. I know all about it I use to play around with all this stuff and street raced every day pretty much. I had a 305 that would surprise anyone and burn any mustang in town no problem. You need jail time for that nasty, grey oil; changing it ever 3-5k is not that hard.

150 shot of NOS WILL blow a 305 with stock mechanicals and an 80's edelbrock performer sooner than later, if this is in the back of your mind...good luck. If it isn't beware. It's capable of about a couple dozen runs with a 150 shot of nos before it starts spitting parts, I wanna say just over 2 10 lb bottles worth.

I plan to swap in a more nitrous capable 305 before I blow it up. Also gonna use a nitrious progresser to ramp in the spray instead of whacking it over the the head. If it doesn’t work in the end it’s just a 305.

@@Krikkebobbyracingchannel Good luck man, I appreciate that you're not just slapping an LS in it like everyone under the sun. It takes balls to be different- especially nowadays.
