Pete sounds slurry to me here like coke/crack slurry. When I first seen Type O in 1996 in London,Ontario at the old Embassy Hotel venue & what a machine Peter was, healthy, great shape, sounded great, the whole band sounded good. Then I seen them at Harpos in Detroit a few times which was great as well as Carnivore once in 1995 I think it was which was rare.

I'm 21. Found out about them about a year ago, because of Christian Woman and Love You to Death. They never failed to put a smile on my face, because (and I mean this with no disrespect) it was all so corny and vampiric and goth, it really brought me joy. Recently I decided to listen to the rest of the albums and became obssessed. Type O Negative gave me a sense of belonging. This guy was out there somewhere and maybe he got me? Maybe I fit somewhere. Problem is I refused to search for any info about them, so not to "spoil the musical experience of it all", which made it much harder to, weeks after the real obsession began, casually stumbling upon a "RIP" comment for him under one of the songs I was listening to here on youtube. My fave band, the corny ass vampire looking singer that put a smile on my face and my """sense of belonging"""... all shattered. He was dead when I was 10. It's been a decade since the band ceased to exist. I grieve someone I never knew and feel more misplaced than ever... I hope I feel better about this soon. Anyway, sorry this vent was longer than expected :/

Been on a bit of a Pete Steele binge- it seems to me he was always trying to hide behind the persona - and yet I suspect the ongoing fascination isn't just about the music but about exactly who he was - seems very elusive. I am so sad that he passed away without being able to really feel ok in his own skin.

There was never was, is, or ever will be anyone remotely close to Peter. Personality, honesty, whit, humor, expression of thought without a single lie, song writing, stage presence and talent. Always insightful and entertaining.Talented and never egotistical, NEVER took himself seriously, and a genuinely kind, good person.
Bands/Musicians performing now are Taco Bell. Listen to them and crap them out.
May Peter's music, charisma, and legend live forever.
