It's pretty cool how the Type O riff's on their own-- without the keyboards, overall production and the gravitas of Pete's voice are just very classic rock and roll. Silvertomb's album is pretty awesome too. Waiting is probably my favorite track, even though it's about as far from Type O or Seventh Void as it gets.
No matter how much I listen, I cannot get sick of Type O Negative. Everything about their sound is astonishing, particularly from the albums Bloody Kisses, October Rust and World Coming Down. Of course their other albums were great also. How I miss you, Peter! 💚
Kenny is a such a good dude. Not the flashiest but would always come up with poignant note selection, powerful chords, and huge tone. Type O is surely missed.
Yup. That choke when he first starts talking about TON and Pete, or how his eyes are glassy and tear filled the entire time he's talking about TON and Silvertomb, or the happiness in his playing when he's playing TON riffs.
I loved TypeO- since 1995 when I was a teenager. Despite having been in shitty places like Iraq and having my life spun around, I can still be brought back mentally to a wonderful and dark place as their music always has. I know some day I'll be on my death bed and it'll be the last music I want to hear.
Wish the Type O guys nothing but the best. They were so unique and the lyrics to their songs so cool/funny/tragic. Miss them and still listen to them all the time. "Anesthesia" is my all time favorite.
I had a half sister who was 9 years older than me in the 1970s. I was seven when she bought me the first Sabbath record. I remember being scared to pieces when I saw the cover & heard the opening riff, but it changed my little 7 year old girl brain forever. In a way that I'm eternally grateful for. My favourite Type O riff is in Everything dies. I had an MRI and I swear it sounded like the darkest riff from it. It made me so happy while I was in the machine. I told the tech to check it out & wrote it down for him since he heard the machine every day. I don't know if he just thought I was nuts or if he listened & was enlightened & thrilled, but it sure made the experience better. I had another one a year later (horse accidents to back) and the machine was new. It sounded like cheap synth tones and I was pretty disappointed:))
When he started singing insomnia my jaw dropped. He’s so talented and underrated dammit, I hope this new album gives him the recognition he deserves 🤘🏼
Pete was an underrated bass player, the way he lays a foundation under a riff is quite unique and innovative. His tone was otherworldly to me, the stuff he does on the World Coming Down album will haunt my psyche forever. The chorus to God is Dead from Carnivore gave me nightmares as a kid back in the day before Type O came out. Bottom line, Pete had a unique musical voice and his genius cannot be denied.
I wish one of the major companies would try and reach out to Josh Silver. I know he's done with music but it'd be a unique interview and good to hear from him again.
A couple of months ago he was in Kenny's house singing "Happy Birthday" to Megan, daughter of Kenny... I think they still are good friends but Josh doesn't have the interest of get in back into music, not even talking about it... Such a shame. Sorry for my bad english, hi from Argentina.

Is there no difference between women and fire? One burns the spirit, the other the flesh is sex worth the price of certain death? Absolution, I am whole..absolution I ammmmm
Type O had such an idiosyncratic tone- it was almost "bad" objectively-speaking (if such a thing is possible with music where taste is everything), so much gain, so much chorus, almost TOO much but the same can be said of Pantera; so unique and the perfect example of when too much is just enough. And the bass made such a huge difference- so much of the "guitar" sound was really bass, they kind of bled together yet stood separate. Everything in moderation, including moderation- when excess is just right
Pete was a huge part of the band and his voice and lyrics were pretty incredible, but all four of those dudes made the band whole. Hickey is so underrated!

I always thought that his tone on type o albums was 10-gain 0-mids but it sounds super thicc here
I think a lot of it is that Peters bass was scooped to fuck 😂
I don't think all of that chorus did his tone much of a favor either
that guitar has super heavy syrings
Most of the tone was Peter honestly lol
Looks like he's plugged into an ampeg bass amp. Lots of bottom end, sounds like a lot of gain and some mid, too.
Kenny has really been doing the rounds lately. And I love it. Can't get enough of Kenny and Type O
The Metal scene of today miss a band like Type O Negative and surely someone like Peter Steele.
Kenny is a such a good dude. Not the flashiest but would always come up with poignant note selection, powerful chords, and huge tone. Type O is surely missed.
He got so emotional up talking about Type O it was so beautiful! Peter may be gone but is never forgotten!
Yup. That choke when he first starts talking about TON and Pete, or how his eyes are glassy and tear filled the entire time he's talking about TON and Silvertomb, or the happiness in his playing when he's playing TON riffs.
I already wondered whether it was just me thinking that...
Just listening to these riffs...I'm back in high school blasting Bloody Kisses :)
I loved TypeO- since 1995 when I was a teenager. Despite having been in shitty places like Iraq and having my life spun around, I can still be brought back mentally to a wonderful and dark place as their music always has. I know some day I'll be on my death bed and it'll be the last music I want to hear.
“…Perfect mix of Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin.”
Wish the Type O guys nothing but the best. They were so unique and the lyrics to their songs so cool/funny/tragic. Miss them and still listen to them all the time. "Anesthesia" is my all time favorite.
4:55 a great song writing lesson for the beginners
1: Take any riff you love
2: Twist it around a little bit
Finally a musician honest about his riff inspiration!!! What an awesome dude
3:21 COLD BEER !!! KENNY RULES xD
Type O Negative Forever 💚
🖤🤘🔥🍻
Summer Breeze Type O version. Fukin Amazing 🏴♠️♣️🧤🎼🌑👁️🖤🌚
Yo my dude has that Soundgarden vibe in his vocal.
I had a half sister who was 9 years older than me in the 1970s.
I was seven when she bought me the first Sabbath record.
I remember being scared to pieces when I saw the cover & heard the opening riff, but it changed
my little 7 year old girl brain forever.
I don't know if he just thought I was nuts or if he listened & was enlightened & thrilled, but it sure
made the experience better.
I had another one a year later (horse accidents to back) and the machine was new.
It sounded like cheap synth tones and I was pretty disappointed:))
I agree with your reaction to Black Sabbath when I first heard it!.
Kenny was totally underrated back in the day....husband and I have a bet....whats the tuning on this guitar Kenny??
Abby Bane B E A D F# B
Whats the Frequency Kenneth!?😂
I used to miss type o negative
I still do, but i used to too
I also miss Hedberg...
Best comment I've read this year. No joke.
You win the internet today, my good man

He's got a really cool stoner rock vibe going with those riffs. Tony Iommi and Wino would be proud!
I can heard your Brooklyn accent all the way to California. Funny, how it only comes out in certain words.
When he started singing insomnia my jaw dropped. He’s so talented and underrated dammit, I hope this new album gives him the recognition he deserves 🤘🏼
Dude I could watch a couple hours of Kenny doing this, telln stories while riffn out. Cold Beer! 🤘🎸🤘🍻
4:26 very old school Sabbath. Awesome!
I wish one of the major companies would try and reach out to Josh Silver. I know he's done with music but it'd be a unique interview and good to hear from him again.
If Kenny and Johnny and get him to do it, no one will. I wish it would happen too❤
A couple of months ago he was in Kenny's house singing "Happy Birthday" to Megan, daughter of Kenny... I think they still are good friends but Josh doesn't have the interest of get in back into music, not even talking about it... Such a shame. Sorry for my bad english, hi from Argentina.
Josh is done with the music business. Period.
Are the forums still open on their website? Where do people in the internet go to talk about Type O these days?
@@stanpillis is it because the death of Steele
Funny how his guitar tone is about the same as it’s always been
5:54 - SHE WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLL! (happy Halloween)
This was a freaking treat to watch.
love this guy ...guy could mix SABBATH with KISS (two greatest rock bands of all times) and create TON ....the heaviest band on earth
God he still rocks like hell! Amazing player and riff machine ! I love how he talks about Peter, as a friend but with such kind of friend’ish respect💚🖤 Stay negative 🤘
LOVE this guy's playing, and he was the perfect guy for Type O!
I miss Type O Negative and music in general, Pete did say “I see the future, the future looks black” and he was right.
I'm literally devastated that I never got to see you guys live. My favorite band forever and always 💚
Best Gear Factor Video of all time! Type O Negative was ahead of their time. Luckily to have been able to witness them live several times. This makes my day every time I watch it.
This made me realize that Type O minus the gothic elements=Soundgarden/Alice/Acid Bath
Goddammit, I heard him play the "Pain" riff and a part of my brain was ready to hear Peter starting: "There is no pain like that of desire..."
Is there no difference between women and fire? One burns the spirit, the other the flesh is sex worth the price of certain death? Absolution, I am whole..absolution I ammmmm
I know I will forever do my part to keep Type O Negative alive. One of the most underrated bands ever. I will cherish our time together always.
Hit like directly! Oh how I miss Type O Negative.
Thanks!👍😘🇸🇪
Type O had such an idiosyncratic tone- it was almost "bad" objectively-speaking (if such a thing is possible with music where taste is everything), so much gain, so much chorus, almost TOO much but the same can be said of Pantera; so unique and the perfect example of when too much is just enough.
And the bass made such a huge difference- so much of the "guitar" sound was really bass, they kind of bled together yet stood separate.
Everything in moderation, including moderation- when excess is just right
Kennys got the chops and the voice. He doesnt get enough recognition
Love hearing the older TON riffs!
Saw them with Ozzy and instantly became a hard core fan. Sure miss them.
Love Type O's Sabbath covers
love type of negative...miss Peter alot. heavy tuning drop b I think
The Seventh Void album is amazing! Do another one! And a tour
Pete was a huge part of the band and his voice and lyrics were pretty incredible, but all four of those dudes made the band whole. Hickey is so underrated!
Teach me your guitar ways Kenny? This was an awesome look at his riffs. I miss Type O Negative like everyone else here. RIP Peter Steele.
