I remember him clearly commenting on demo tapes videos by Type O and giving a little backstory about them. I started calling myself a Christian in 2010 after I had what I can only call a 'vision of Christ' after having surgery and then, while I was recovering from it, got food poisoning, and was coughing so much, that I dislodged a rib. I was at my chiropractor's waiting to be adjusted when the vision occurred (I still remember the date-1.22.10). Now BEFORE anyone reading starts (figuratively speaking here) throwing shit at me, let me finish: Over the ensuing years, I was going to church every week, reading some of the Bible, etc. However, as time went on, I found myself amazed at how judgmental some Christians were, others used Christianity to inflate their egos and become demigods (my wife's stepmother, for one), others were clique-ish and made their circle of friends (all Christians) seem like it was the only thing that existed, others were the first to dole out (Christian) advice WITHOUT ANY life experience...people half my age telling me how to live, like they were 50 or 60 years old and had lived 3 times longer than they really did...Christians correcting/admonishing me for being negative (realistic) about something yet didn't care an iota about the environment, throwing glass and aluminum into the garbage (I'm a recycle nazi, so that shit ALWAYS bothers me) without a care in the world, as if Christ is going to jump into the garbage and recycle it for them, or talking on cell phones the entire time as someone (me) waited on them at the store, and on and on. At this point, Christ's overall message of sacrifice (learn/force yourself to put others' needs first sometimes, WITHOUT expecting anything in return-it's good for your soul and your growth) is what I focus on, but it gets murky after that, esp when one is dealing with people on Earth. I've met non-Christians that were BETTER people than a lot of Christians I knew, so I'm always quick to remind MYSELF that the world is full of all kinds of people.
