Dokken riffs 🔥🔥 its not love, unchain the night, dream warriors Ratt riffs 🔥🔥 body talk, back for more, lay it down, Poison look what the cat dragged in, fallen angels
@@Gordon-hx8cpWrong, EVH alone inspired an entire generation of guitar players, and Def Leppard were ahead of their time with their aggressive sound. AC/DC can't be forgotten either.
Why Def is hair metal and VH is not, according to you? They both hard rock . Maybe you ,in USA, invented the term Hair Metal according to the look of bands and not according to music? Here Guns n Roses is mentioned... Are they hair metal as well? 😂🤦
Round and Round Ratt Bringin' On The Heartbreak Def Leppard 18 & Life Skid Row Eyes of a Stranger Queensryche This one isn't a guitar riff, but it sets the melody for the guitar solo, the piano intro for Sign of the times Europe
That LP Vivian is playing is like a $450 dollar Epiphone Worn in Ebony, with some mods. He always prefers the beaters that just look the part. They all sound killer when set up properly.
not really.. he doesn’t play beaters and that isn’t a beater either that is his signature Epiphone “holy diver” Les Paul ..not in production anymore it retailed for $850 and goes for around the same price on the used market today
@@waterytuba08Sorry, I'm not able to see the headstock shape cleary in the video. I'm not trying to say anything bad about the guy. My point was that he has been known to prefer guitars that aren't shiny. The brand has no bearing on this. I own 4 Epiphone Les Pauls, and was only trying to point out the fact that he plays what he likes. It'll be OK buddy. Your guitar hero is safe from me and my bad eyesight. Relax.
Growing up, Heavy Metal was Scorpions, Ozzy and Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron maiden, Ratt and others. I never put VH in with Heavy Metal and I don't even think the aforementioned bands are really Heavy Metal. They all had their ballads and slower songs. Especially Scorpions, one of my favorites. Iron maiden was definitely pushing the Heavy Metal boundary I'm not really sure what makes music Heavy Metal. There are levels of heavy metal, I guess. Mercyful Fate or Accept are more Heavy Metal than mainstream metal music of the 80's. I'm a bit older than some of these guys. It's funny listening to them talk about songs when they were young.
Van Halen had the hair and the spandex, sure. But that was pretty organic with multiple awesome albums before MTV aired. I think Hair Metal should be for bands that formed after 1981 and clearly were trying and failing to be the next Van Halen
@bowengoertzen1854 Apparently you know nothing about heavy metal. Do you mean Glam metal is hair metal? Ever heard of Sam Dunn? You should watch his documentaries.
Ratt had some of the greatest riffs of this era, too. Lack of communication, lay it down, wanted man, etc. are all classics.
Demartini and Crosby were top duo!
Back For More
@MoparTech Hell yes! Love the intro on that song.
Dokken riffs 🔥🔥 its not love, unchain the night, dream warriors
Ratt riffs 🔥🔥 body talk, back for more, lay it down,
Poison look what the cat dragged in, fallen angels
Still play those today
No "Lay it Down" main riff by Ratt? its an amazing riff!!!
It’s in an unusual tuning, so when just jamming around most people aren’t in the right tuning.
Arguably one of the best intros of all time.
You’re In Love too
Steve Clark's riffs are so underrated
“Heavy Metal an Mullets were how we were raised. Maiden and Priest were the Gods that we praised.”
@@jayluck8047 That’s also a jam. Sum 41 is awesome.
Your poet and you didn't even know it, 😊
WASTED!
Van Halen and Def Leppard really was the sound of that era.
Both hugely over-rated

Buddy,if you're tryna act cool here...jz pick something thats true.
Steve Stevens is the definition of hair metal still lives it to this day
@Gordon-hx8cp oh please , name anyone more influential or with a bigger catalogue from that era?
the beginning of Mean Street byVH
Evh greatest riff. So dirty n gritty
How does Poison not come up in the conversation of great Hair Metal riffs
I remember someone saying Van Halen was "teeth metal" because they were heavy but they also smiled. I think its pretty accurate
The best riff comes from that era and NWOBHM
I enjoy all metal riffs thrash death nwbm glam of the 80s. Guitar oriented music with a lot of creativy in that decade
And a lot of those riffs on the influence of Ritchie Blackmore, and Schenker, they took it to A HOLE NOTHER LEVEL
Shocked no one played WASP
@@Thomas-gq3oc I think WASP was more Melody oriented rather than Riff oriented
@@TheMattBoland totally right however i think the leads of chris holmes were brilliant love his melody sense and sleazy badass sound
yeah, I was hoping for Mean Man
My big 3 in the Hair Metal world are Dokken, Motley Crue, and Ratt. Loved the music those 3 created in this world.
"Yeah, we know Van Halen aren't hair metal"
Good thing you said that... * shaking fist * Haha.
Strangely created it.
The Van Halen Sound and the David Lee Roth look.

@e.p.649 It's all Metal to be honest.
Hair Metal was a term really created in the 90s by Grunge Bands.
80s it was just Metal.

Wow. Def Leppard got the spotlight in this video. Yes, I know Van Halen is not hair metal, but I still think they're hair metal anyway.

Motley Crue RATT and Dokken my favorite three glam bands…but the Kings of setting that vibe..The Mighty Van Halen ..DLR era only…
The entire era was one great riff!
Randy Rhoads was incredible
Absolutely, but I would never call Ozzy hair metal
9:40 what the f*** is that guitar?
I was wondering the exact same thing! 😂😂😂😂
It's a Sandberg Thor's Hammer or something it's fucking ridiculous
Vivian Campbell is so smooth

Tom Thacker - Flange fingering 😂
Can I have a devin ain't talkin bout love cover now please 😂
My first riff ever was 21st century schizoid man. King Crimson
Appetite for Destruction

Probably filmed right before a show.
wtf is at 6:50
Sounds like unchained by van halen
@DavidBaillio yup, it's Unchained
No Treble Charger?
I really wish I had learned to play guitar
2:23 still searching for "creamy little fly". Does someone know the name of the Def Leppard Song?
Wasted
@@paddyplatt6362 Thank you! Better title than "creamy little fly" as well.
Is he playing sweet child o mine wrong?
yup
How do those guys from Avatar not realise that You Really Got Me is a cover? Yikes...
It's funny you don't realize how good some guitar players are because their sound don't call for crazy leads or riffage
Cool
Vivian Campbell was with DIO
Steel Panther destroys all
Eddy VH was cocky saying RR wasn't that good he was 16 years old playing sold out venue. Jimi Hendrix was the inventor of Heavy Metal
Stop calling it hair metal. The actual genre is heavy metal with several sub genres. Hair metal is a derogatory term. You'd think Loudwire would know.
Hair metal is a legit Genre
@bowengoertzen1854 Apparently you know nothing about heavy metal. Do you mean Glam metal is hair metal? Ever heard of Sam Dunn? You should watch his documentaries.
Back in the 80’s it was called glam rock or cock rock. Hair metal was a derogatory term that came later.😂
It's a garbage subgenre, however it's called
@marcosagrero2866 No it's actually some great, fun music showcasing brilliant musicians. Now go listen to your rap.
How fun is Wait or Little Fighter by White Lion?
There's probably no chance anyone can play like Vito!
