I just finished The Butcher of the Forest last night, really enjoyed it! The author did a phenomenal job of nailing the atmosphere in such a short title/, very eerie, dreadful & surreal. Wonderful stuff!

Reading is a conversation. All books talk. But a good book listens as well❤

I can't wait to hear what you think about books 7-9 of The Expanse series! When I finished book 6 and found out that there's a time jump before the next one, for some reason my reaction was 'well, everyone is going to be old and boring, so I'm not reading the next trilogy'. It took me at least a couple of years to reconsider, and now it's actually my favourite trilogy out of all. It's especially impressive that the authors managed to absolutely stick the landing with the last book, which isn't easy with such a long series.

Same! But my expectations were really really high because Six Of Crows is one of my favorite books, so maybe that influenced my reading experience...

@@tonibienbecksame here, I also had very high expectations because this book was hyped up so much 🥲 but I found it hard to connect with the characters and care about them 😅

I finally read The Fragile Threads of Power and I really enjoyed it! Hopefully we don't have to wait too long before the next book... And Severance sounds really interesting! I also want to read more sci-fi so the Expanse series might be something for me then, it sounds really cool

Licanius improves a lot in the following books. The overall writing quality and story cohesiveness have a very noticeable increase in quality in book 2.

I picked up Miracle Creek after you reviewed it and I'm about 2/3 through it. Really liking it, especially since it's set in the northern Virginia area where I live. When I read a little about the author I thought, "I wonder if she lives in Annandale?" (a town just outside DC with a very large Korean population) and then it was interesting that Annandale was one of the settings mentioned in the story!

Reading Severance messed me up a little bit because it was too accurate to stuff that happened in 2020 but it was written in like 2018 😬

I really really wanted to like Miracle Creek, but as an autistic person I was so angered by how it pathologized autism that I couldn't get through more than a few chapters. :( So disappointing.
