It's a combination of CGI and practical effects. At the time realistic CGI took weeks or months to render so it had to be used sparingly. Another movie from around this time that achieved similar results was the original Jurassic Park which came out 2 years after this.

Linda Hamilton taught herself how to pick locks for this movie. And pickling locks like that can happen with just about any lock, if you understand the mechanics of the lock. None are unpickable, as long as you understand its mechanics, though the difficulties to circumvent the locks can vary.

@@dallesamllhals9161 Not necessarily. I've seen another video where a 20-something expected it to be normal for a character in an early or mid-'90s film to have one. In most ways (like fashion), films set in the 1990s still feel very contemporary today, so people who are too young to have lived through that time often instinctually assume that technologies that are ubiquitous now would also have been available then.

    • @LadoTsulukidze
      @LadoTsulukidze 8 месяцев назад +4

What's great about these movies is it's not like they're dropping this at you from nowhere. Transformation is believable as you see the hints of a badass being hidden deep inside her even in the first movie. First when she takes the wheel and smashes terminator during car chase scene, then not leaving Kyle behind in the car and finally at the factory, that "On you feet, soldier!" line makes it perfectly clear that she's the future leader and commander and what we see in Terminator 2 is already a very logical continuation of the first one. THAT'S how you write strong female characters. She fits the role with her acting and fits the role with her visual side as well. Unlike modern "strong female characters" who look like they've never been anywhere outside their home except beauty salon and suddenly kick 20 men of 3 times their sizes... plus they know nuclear physics, rocker science and trigonometry at the age of 20

The resistance and the Skynet forces use plasma weapons: it's not a beam of light but a 'bolt' of superheated hydrogen 'encased' in a magnetic 'bubble' that holds it together, so it's like being hit by a little bit of liquid sun. How is it supposed to work? I don't know tech stuff.

Actor playing the bad terminator was a track star, so he really did have great conditioning.
The helicopter flying under the overpass was REAL, and they did it twice for a different angle shot. Nolen had to film the second take, the crew refused. The clearance was at most 5' top bottom, and 7' at most on the sides.
There are lockpicking hobby kits and videos... 'for entertainment purposes'.
Glad you watched the edition with the better end monologue scene. The wet highway was the original theater release. Later the studio changed it to be 'more happy' with an ending in the future in a park. To say the least the change was not well received.

One of the special FX guys was a guest in a Corridor Crew video and he said that when they were shooting the helicopter scenes they were discussing with Cameron how difficult its going to be (and how expensive it will be) to make a CGI helicopter that flies under the overpass when the pilot goes: "I mean I could just do it if you want it..." Amazing practical effects in this movie and yeah they developed a software for fluid simulation ( that was further enhanced for his movie called Abyss ) so the T-1000's effects look great. Shoutout to Robert Patrick for being an absolute chad and killing that role.

To answer your question about the EYE, in case you did not know this, the EYES on a human being are part of the fatal tee, SWAT, FBI HRT, and military snipers most of the time will aim for one or the other EYE, now the EYE itself IS NOT FATAL, BUT, from the front of the human head, it is the easiest path to the rear base of the skull where the cerebellum is located, which is the part of the brain that controls everything in the body which is INVOLUNTARY, such as breathing, and heartbeat, so it is not actually the EYE that he is targeting, but to get to what he is targeting from the front of the head, through the EYE is the most efficient path to get there.

Recommendations: I'm going to do general recs, not just for "Criminal Content" specifically... but for CC specifically:
    "Lucky Number Slevin"
    "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang"
    are prob my two favorite.
I imagine she'd enjoy "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", but it's such a shame Fincher didn't get to finish the trilogy; the third has one of the most satisfying conclusions in fiction. So... if she reads and she hasn't read The Millennium trilogy yet, you can introduce her to the first movie and just let her know the trilogy is completed in book form.
    General:
    "Walk Hard"
    "A Knight's Tale"
    "Mr Right"
    "Men Who Stare At Goats"
    "Scott Pilgrim vs the World"

There was a short-lived Terminator TV series in the late 2000s ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") where we saw that the therapist did have a bit of a psychotic break after Sarah's escape in this film. He went off and lived in a cabin on top of a mountain, because he had to question everything he had known about reality.

"Human casualties: 0.0" I keep thinking about that extra ".0" there. Did he expect, maybe, that he might kill 0.1 of a human?
But then, in the last movie he apparently had a list of pre-set answers to the specific question: "You got a dead cat in there?"

One of the best films of this genre ever made. Avatar might have made tons of money, but this is Cameron's opus! Side note: I'm in the minority but, despite it not even coming close to T2, I honestly thought "Terminator 3" was a decent movie - especially the ending. Great reaction 😊

I think Linda Hamilton was totally robbed of a Best Actress nomination. Look at Linda's performance during the escape from Pescadero. Look at her performance during the attack on Dyson. Cameron and Linda Hamilton created one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female characters ever put on film. Sarah Connor is right up there with Cameron's own Ellen Ripley in Aliens and Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind.
