I'm 41 years old, and no matter how many times I see this movie I can never get past the "thumbs up" that the Terminator gives as he's lowered into the steel, without crying...
I can't believe some people think that moment is corny. It's SO damn perfect, it's the Terminator saying so many things to John in it's very last moment. One part it's saying it's going to be ok, even though I need to be destroyed, things are going to work out. It's also showing how "human" the T-800 became over the course of the film, and the fact that that's the very last gesture he sends out to his human counterparts. Very powerful stuff. A very touching note for his character to end on.
They filmed the scene with the helicopter flying under a highway overpass by having a helicopter fly under an overpass. Cameron had to film it himself in the chase car on the other side of the highway because the cameraman refused to be under that overpass while the helicopter flew beneath it. The stunt pilot on the film was a former Vietnam veteran and helicopter pilot Charles A. Tamburro. The man was a legend.
It's my favorite film stunt of all time, and it's filmed so nonchalantly during the sequence that it just passes by a lot of people about how hard the stunt was and how insane they were to even attempt it.
Jim Cameron knows exactly what he wants and how to do it…. it’s like the punch through the windshield on the first movie, where they made the metal arm, the car still and the background moving; it’s so creative, alternative and effective…. he finds solutions to every single detail
@@DesertStateInEU what do you mean? James Cameron is the Revelotionary guy who invented many stuff for us to enjoy watching movies, you can find his touch in every modern cgi and vfx , in the last Avatar he manage to create a way to interact real actor with cgi water and actual water so naturally so many epic moments of cinema is possible because of him
I'm an old fart who saw this on opening night in college. One roommate went to the theater very early to wait in line and buy 20 tickets. I drove all around to find a copy of the Terminator movie to rent. And, we had a big pre-movie party in our apartment where we watched Terminator before going to T2. It was probably my best memory from college.
Uncle Bob is the best Terminator in the Franchise. The actor who played Dyson suffered a collapsed lung earlier in life, and essentially recreated the "shortness of breath" he had gone through for the death scene as he figured the character after being shot like that would have had the same. Cameron loved it and told him to run with it. Still one of the best death scenes on film.
Fun fact: Robert Patrick, the actor that plays the T-1000 was actually keeping up with the motorcycle in the chase scene with John, and in fact kept CATCHING UP with it... Robert was a major track star in college, and they had to keep reshooting that motorcycle scene because he was so fast and told him that he had to slow down...
@@DivineFalcon saw a short a few days ago where he says he did a ton of cardio for this movie for exactly these scenes so he can run like a mad man just breathing through his nose and look as much like a machines as possible.
I heard somewhere that they had to replace Edward Furlong (John Conner) with his stuntman for that scene because Robert Patrick was so fast. It's said that he actually caught up to Edward on one take and tapped him on the shoulder. Not sure how true this story is though
@@thegorn68 Here's something to change your mind: T2 wasn't made in the 80's. It's still fun that two best sequels ever made to any movie are both made by Cameron.
A lot of people don’t like Terminator 3, but I enjoyed it. I also really like Terminator Salvation. I fell like those four movies give the arc of the story.
Yeah I did enjoy them but sure it is on another level compared to the first two. But still entertaining and worth to watch if you want more of the story kinda.
I think what was really cool about the Terminator series was stopping the end of the world, but the way 3 shits on that, so while I like the movie itself, and the TX as a Terminator, I do not like where they took the story.
Fun facts. 1) during the opening scene, Arnold walked into the bar wearing neon surfer shorts, and all the background extras burst out laughing. 2) the foster mom is played by the same woman who played Vasquez in Aliens. 3)Robert Patrick was a track and field player in college, and had to slow down because he kept catching up to the dirt bike. 4) Linda Hamilton had a twin sister who played the younger her in the dream sequence. There's also an extended scene where she doubled as Sara in a reflection.
Two facts I noticed from other comments on other videos (I forget which ones): 1: The T1000 was actually supposed to slash through the prison bars, but the actor decided to go with the phase-through approach instead. 2: The actor playing the creepy orderly licking Sarah was actually really uncomfortable with what he had to do. I seem to remember him actually asking that his character be beaten up for that action.
Actually, when they are both in the shot, Leslie Hamilton plays Sarah, while Linda plays the T-1000. Probably because Linda needed to act and talk the most. The Stanton twins were also in Gremlins 2 and Good Morning Vietnam.
"If a machine, a Terminator, can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too." An iconic line, and sadly, still something we've yet to confirm we can do. As a species, of course.
Movie trailers on TV was not that common back then. But it was also a time when MTV actually showed music videos. The music video for Guns n Roses "You could be mine" was an excellent substitute for a actual movie trailer.
probably one of the only cases where a twist is *less* widely spoiled in the internet era than it was a theatrical release. It's like reverse Empire Strikes Back.
Well I was lucky and didn't watch any of the trailers for the second one so it was a complete surprise to me when it happened in the theater and definitely one of the best movies I had ever seen up to that point.
It is interesting to me how many reactors have heard that Arnie plays the good guy, but they don't know WHEN he plays the good guy. Not this time, but it happens regularly.
"This dude's been workin' on his cardio" You have no idea. Robert Patrick trained himself to run at full speed without obviously breathing heavily and in the first take accidently caught up to the motorcycle because he was actually running that fast.
One day I am gonna see a 32 year old person react to seeing the sky for the first time.... How do you people NEVER see these movies as you grow up? T2 is one of the most popular movies ever made.
It is not too often a sequel surpasses the original, but T-2 did just that. I was twenty when this movie came out and I was totally blown away by this when I saw it in theaters. And I saw it more than once. Linda Hamilton and Robert Patrick spent three months in intense physical training before filming started. I never tire of watching this movie and it is by far my favorite of all the Terminator movies.
Correct. Every change to the timeline, can alter the entire timeline. Which is why it works for different actors playing the characters in other timelines, and even can go back and forth between them.
@@Kennyisdarkvanilla Not true. If you understand the bare basics of the physics theory this is based on, every single change made by the characters can change, erase, move in time the characters and events themselves. It could go on forever unless every Skynet chance of rising is prevented. It's only "screwed up" if you want to see it that way.
Ian of Forgotten Weapons was at the prop store that manages them, that one was there, the armorer said there’s only like 3 of them, anywhere, that can be used.
It was said in an interview that when the prop people were trying to decide on a signature weapon for Arnold, Arnold kinda grinned and said “I know just what you need “.
I think according to internet movie firearms database they say Miniguns like that have been modded to fire at only about a third of their usual fire rate, so they can actually see some barrel rotation.
As a man nearing 40 you are absolutely right by the way: The stop motion in the first film of the Terminator limping toward the camera is definitely the scariest part. :D
I love the way they used the truck explosion early in the film (during the T-1000’s initial pursuit) to emphasize that Robert Patrick’s Terminator is orders of magnitude more advanced than Arnold’s is. Walks away without a scratch.
One of the story arcs I love in this film, as the Terminator becomes more human, Sarah becomes more machine-like. When she attacks Dyson, she's efficient and methodical. Only Danny throwing himself in front of his father snaps her out of it.
I’m still surprised that we haven’t gotten a saying or meme from Sarah actually pulling the trigger. Like with the “Han shot first“ type of thing. The trope is for the “hero“ to get to that moment of truth, and not opt for cold blooded murder. Sarah didn’t have that problem. I think it’s one of the most overlooked major movie points, of any movie.
It’s great that it works now when people see it,at the time they gave it away months in advance that Arnold would be the protector. I wish they would’ve let us find out for ourselves
Maybe for the 5 people who did not see it coming from the beginning... Everyone else knew that Arnold was good this time. The music introduction for each one gave it away on my first watch and I was 11 then.. I doubt that an adult would have been fooled.
@@michaelblaine6494 Yeah the whole first part was trying to fake you out, but the trailer and promos were all "Same make, same model, different mission".
I knew you''d love this one, Miranda! Another amazing reaction - along with the first film, this makes for one of the greatest cinematic stories of all time. The special effects were simply the greatest thing I'd ever seen back in the day, and they've pretty much aged incredibly well too. Like the first one, it's another perfect film. There's worthwhile stuff now and then in later Terminator films, but in all honesty, these first two are the only ones that are truly essential.
21:45 Sarah Connor is part of the reason why I hate it when modern studios say the reason a movie failed is because "Men can't handle strong female heroes," we loved Sarah back in the 90's.
Write your heroines well, like Sarah or Buffy, and nobody has a problem with their gender. Write characters poorly and everyone has a problem with them, gender or otherwise. It should be fairly simple.
Yup, exactly! Sarah is such a flawed and broken human being, and understandably so! She knows and has seen more than any human should have to. So it led her down a path that she never would have gone down otherwise. Then we get to her escape, which the movie specifically points out that she's tried several times before. So we know she's effectively been perfecting it. She also didn't effortlessly overpower any of the men she took down. She used a combination of surprise, distraction, and weapons to take them down, because she knows that they have height, weight, numbers, and an experience advantage over her. She has to act quickly and decisively, or she's going to fail again. Then at the end, she rightfully panics and runs like a scared little girl when she sees the source of her trauma, in the proverbial flesh before her.
I agree. Studio's weak excuse for writing bad female characters: "Men can't handle them". Used in Acolyte and She-Hulk's failures, while same time, universally loved Fallout had Lucy, loved and highly praised heroine. Yeah. Write characters well, people like them. Regardless of gender, color, sexual orientation or creed. Granted there's always trolls, but you get my point.
If this film came out today, it _would_ be attacked by certain people for having a strong female hero. Ripley from the _Alien_ series even moreso, for "emasculating" all the men.
@@thejamppa And it's so simple too. Cast for the role. Don't write a role for the casting, especially if your writers can't write worth a damn. Start with a good story and strong characters instead of, okay we have 2 black lesbians, what do we do with them? One of these processes leads to a natural flow, but the other ends up forced and contrived.
John's foster mother is played by Jenette Goldstein who also played Pvt. Vasquez in Aliens. Amazing how different people look with a few simple changes.
Great reaction, wonderful enthusiasm, and your comments helped recall how I felt seeing this adventure in the theater. It’s hard for a generation that has watched modern special effects to comprehend how this movie blew us away. You think the action scenes and The New Terminator are cool…. Try to imagine how mind blowing it was seeing this for the first time. Add the big screen, the movie stunts, and the sound that helped the scenes seem real.
And it's named 'bootstrapping' because of the idea that you can lift yourself up by your bootstraps (you cannot IRL). It's also used in computer programming for the problem where a computer needs a drive to get the program to access the drive.
i never realised the two sarah's were diff ppl because theyre not both on screen together.... why bother? film her one side then film her on the other side. but its still a cool little factoid.
Major props to you! This is my favorite Terminator movie out of the whole series, but thank you for giving credit to the first one, it makes the character development in this movie hit so much harder, and is an incredible movie in it's own right. Number 3 is solid, unfortunately it's not as high quality as the first two films, but it's still a damn good time if you plan on reviewing it.
I've always loved Terminator 2. After watching a ton of movie reactions, however, I've developed a new appreciation for it, because it has proven to be one of the most reliable movies for giving the audience a rich, satisfying experience. I've seen so many reactors really love this movie. John, Sarah, and the Terminator are one of the most intriguing, quirky, fun, and emotionally engaging trios of protagonists. It feels awful at the end when John says, "I order you not to go! I - - ORDER you not to go!"
Honestly, if you want to complete the trilogy… toss up between Rise or Dark Fate. Would actually recommend the show, Sarah Connor Chronicles. Best follow up.
Such an amazing movie! The Terminator is so relatable. Socially awkward, doesn't understand human behaviour and doesn't know how to hold children. Super fun reaction, as always! Thanks, Miranda!
When I saw this in theaters, Arnie’s thumbs up as he sank into molten steel, a cheer went up in the audience, almost drowned out by louder sobbing. Then lots and lots of clapping! I have been meaning to mention, the decorative set of Samurai swords in the back. Nice! I illustrate and write books on Samurai history.
Amazing reaction, to one of the greatest sequels of all time! I still remember being awe after leaving the cinema back when it was released. Keep up the good work.
Fun fact, the guy who played the T-1000 did real intense cardio in preparation for the movie so he could run for am extended period of time without having to breath through his mouth so he looks more like a robot. They even had to bring in a stunt double for John, in the scene where he was chasing John on his bike because the T-1000 actor kept easily catching up to the bike on foot and the child actor was scared to drive any faster.
@@crappleindusuries Some people supposedly naturally dont blink when shooting. I read somewhere that Kate Beckinsale is one such actor. Shes great in the Underworld movies.
There a TV show called Sarah Connor Chronicles. In terms of story it picks up after this movie, and goes WAY more in depth into the characters. The show only got 2 seasons and is very underrated in my opinion.
It is also a *LOT* better than the 3rd movie, which sucked and had some stupid technical errors. Like Skynet relying on the internet after a nuclear war. (Hint: that won't work anymore). It also features Summer Glau of Firefly and Lena Headey who later got to play Cersei Lannister in GoT.
As a really old guy I distinctly remember how jaw-dropping it was when Linda Hamilton went from damsel in distress to ripped badass for T2. People loved her transformation. I don't remember specifically, but I suspect that at the time there were few women put front-and-center with male leads in action movies like this.
Yeah, we were used to seeing Linda be demure (and I think she was in the Beauty And The Best tv series for a while then too), then bulked up for this and was awesome! It also helped she and Cameron were in a relationship as well.
The next film in this series, T-3, is worth watching as its production brings together all the elements of the first 2 Terminator features while generating the eventual horrific consequences of a world turned upside down! Definitely a thumbs up!
Thanks for another awesome reaction video! The movie is filled with references to the original film. 2 of my favorites are: 1. Sarah is wearing Kyle's coat when they go to the Cyberdyne building. 2. The actor who took pictures of the Terminator after he got thrown through the glass at the mall was a patrol officer in the original film 1L-19. He is played by William Wisher, who co-wrote the screenplay with Cameron.
@@chrisd4228 Last two classic sci-fi franchises with James Cameron sequels and hopeful endings on this channel, about to have that ruined by the 3rd iterations... XD
The moment you said "he's Silver Surfer," (my favorite comic book superhero!) was the moment I decided to subscribe to your channel! Much appreciation sent your way!
I still remember seeing this in theaters when I was 10, and it's been one of my favorite movies ever since! I laughed at the start, when you mentioned how good the sound was during the war in the future, because my dad was an audiophile, and we had two sound systems; a surround system for movies in the TV room, and a 2-speaker one in the living room for listening to music.. and any time my dad would get an upgrade for the surround system, or just to show off how good it was to people who came over, we'd throw on that intro! It sounds great with headphones, but it sounds even better with a well setup 5.1 system! I must have seen just the intro to that movie at least 100 times testing out new speakers/amps and showing off to people how good our sound system was!
The Protectinator. As a kid in the early 90's this movie was absolutely amazing to us and still is. We were just like John Connor. "Easy Money." Robert Patrick was amazing in his first role. This was during the birth of CGI and it was mind blowing at the time, just like Jurassic Park. They didn't depend on it, they utilized it. One of those times when the sequel is just far superior. There are actually two sets of twins in this, the Cop's and Sarah's. I honestly cried at the end the first time. I can't lie. James Cameron outdid himself, what a legend.
It was Arnie’s stuntman, Peter Kent, who did the motorcycle jump, wearing prosthetics to look like Arnold. The bike was suspended by cables, but the stunt was still plenty dangerous!
You mentioned the visual of the Terminator's face coming through the fire would make an awesome tattoo. During a summer in high school my family and I went to a trip to Florida. We spent one day at Universal Studios. Before we left we stopped by a gift shop and they had a rack of Black T'shirts with the exact same picture of the Terminators face coming through flames. I bought it of course and had it for years. It's sadly gone. It was my favorite shirt.
2:01 "shooting's coming from over here, then it's coming from in here, people are breaking in, someone's behind me" well, that escalated quickly 😂 great reaction to a classic! i subbed for more! 👍
I think stop motion for the last movie was the perfect pick for the terminator to make it look robotic. The CG in this movie was perfect for the liquid T1000.
Fun fact: the scene with the T1000 chasing John on the bike had to be done a couple of times because Robert Patrick actually caught up to the bike Let that sink in
The greatest sequel of all time and truly one of the greatest movies of all time. Unbelievably made in 1991 and the SFX still hold up. Robert Patrick absolutely nailed the role as a terrifying, unrelenting killing machine. Sarah's narration about how the Terminator would outdo any father in the world and the self-sacrifice at the end gets me every time. I also really enjoy Terminator 3 and honestly, every Terminator movie (Salvation, Genesys, and Dark Fate) is worth watching once, but NONE of them hold a candle to T2.
"Humanizing" the Terminator gradually throughout the film by having him learn was a brilliant direction to take. It makes the ending all the more poignant and allows the story to close with the message of hope we are presented with. The heart in the film lifts it far above being spectacle. One of the best films ever made in any genre. Still powerful as ever over thirty years later.
That 'SWITCHAROO' you felt. we all felt that too the first time we saw it too. great movie. Robert Patrick nailed his role in this movie. thanks for the video @The Mirandalorian Reacts
You should check out the different cuts of this movie. At 30:20, you mentioned the physical comedy. In one of the extended cuts, there's a scene where John teaches Termy how to smile, and seeing Arnold do an awkward smile as a machine, just.... *Chef's kiss*. There's also an extended version of the scene where they're taking the bullets out of Terminator. They reboot him and Sarah freaks out and tries to kill the Terminator. There is SO much good storytelling in the other cuts that was left out of this theatrical version.
This film strongly reflects the idea introduced by Kyle Reese in the first film that he comes from "one possible future," suggesting that history is subject to change. The future Kyle Reese grew up in doesn’t have to be the same for Sarah and John Connor if they succeed in preventing Judgment Day, meaning the events of August 29, 1997 may still be averted. Though the film never confirms if they actually did prevent Judgment Day, concluding on an open note it does leave us uncertain about whether this dark future has truly been stopped. Only time will tell. There is an alternate ending for this film that shows an elderly Sarah Connor in a utopian Los Angeles in 2029, watching over an adult John Connor and her grand child in the same playground she once had nightmares about. A timeline in which Judgment Day was prevented and John grew up to become a father. I’m not sure which version of the film includes this ending, but I’ve seen some reactors watch that ending. It's not the "canonical" ending but I guess you could argue that it's canon within a certain timeline. The time travel in The Terminator films can be confusing, but I’ve always understood it this way: every time someone travels back in time, they create a new timeline. The actions taken in this new timeline don’t affect the one they just left. So, the Kyle Reese we saw in the first film couldn’t change his own timeline, but he could protect Sarah Connor and potentially create a timeline where Judgment Day never happens. Closer to Avengers: Endgame time travel than this say Back to the Future. I actually recommend checking out the other films, even though some people older than us like to pretend that only the first two Terminator films exist. Personally, I think the sequels offer unique takes that are enjoyable in their own right. Sarah Connor Chronicles is also a really great TV series.
I read the novelization at the time. Which of course is official "cannon" at the time, to be displaced when they make a new movie that contradicts it.Two big things stand out in the novel 1. Around the scene where Arnold is standing there guarding and Sarah realizes he is the perfect Dad for John. John finds out the Terminator can be put into "learning mode". So he pulls a chip out of the terminators skull, flip the switch on it and puts it back in. From that point on the Terminator starts becoming more "human". 2. The book as an Epilogue. John becomes a very powerful US Senator, and uses that position to squash funding for anything AI related that comes down the line. He is happy that his mom Sarah is "mostly normal now". After 15 years of running around like she did and nearly being killed by two terminators, that is the best you can hope for.
@@BreetaiZentradi That's some really cool insight. I'd totally watch a show about John Connor as a US Senator fighting against the rise of AI. Very relatable for today's world.
Isn’t the alternate ending the real canonical ending since that is what Cameron originally wanted but changed it because he was afraid it was too corny and wasn’t received well in testing?
Robert Patrick, the guy who played the T-1000, the liquid Terminator, trained running without heavy breathing so he would look like a machine running. He also trained to shoot with both hands and all of that without blinking because a machine doesn't blink... He played that role perfectly...
I've been down the rabbit hole of watching reaction videos of this. We could have never had another science fiction action film after 1991, and we'd be fine. I saw it as a young child, and that nuke scene stuck with me for life. This is gold standard cinema.
Recognizing the most popular element of the first movie- Arnold as the robotic villain- and repurposing him into a hero is the genius move that turned it into a franchise. Will always remember watching this with friends at a sleepover.
When you go to rewatch, get the extended/director's cut. It has more scenes with Arnold's T-101 development and relationship with Sarah and John. There are also shots showing that the T-1000 was starting to erode or malfunction from all the repeated damage, which informs parts of the later sequence. These were all great scenes/shots that really enhance the plot, but the studio originally cut them just for runtime.
IMO, the theatrical cut is better. It's paced better, and it's "cleaner" for lack of a better word. But all the extended/alternate scenes are really interesting on a rewatch.
@chrisbergsten1429 there's just one scene at the end I never liked form the extended version, the one where he is imitating Sarah and John takes ages to realize it was a fake Sarah, (he waits until Sarah comes from behind and says get out of the Way) in this version it makes sense, but they literally showed it's feet melted into the ground, how could John not realize, he took so long to move!
@@StarkRG I like the ending in the new future, but I like more the theatrical ending, the one Cameron Improvised when he ran out of time, no scene, just an empty highway at night, driving into the dark, while Sarah made her final speech "maybe we can too"
26:16 I think I have an idea as to why John threw that piece of metal away: it was part of the T-1000, and if they kept it with them, there was a very high risk that the lesser piece of metal could automatically pull the greater mass towards its location - essentially broadcasting "Hey, target over here". Though, I'm not sure which cut of the movie you watched. The extended cut had two good scenes I like. The first is at 28:08, where, in answer to John's question, the Terminator actually tells them how to access his CPU so they can switch it away from its standard Read-Only mode. Once the CPU is taken out, the Terminator shuts down, and Sarah immediately tries to smash the chip with a nearby hammer, arguing that John doesn't know how hard it is to kill Terminators. John, however, rebuts her by saying that they need him - or 'it' as she keeps insisting - but what causes her to give in is when he tells her that if she's making him into this supposed future military leader, maybe she should actually let him lead. Because if his own mother won't listen, there's no way in hell the survivors of humanity will. In the end, she brings down the hammer... on the space near the chip, and says that fine, she'll play it his way. The second scene is after the T-1000 was frozen and reformed after melting. As it pursued John's group into the steel mill, it noticed its hand was stuck to a nearby railing... and the hand had taken on the exact black-and-yellow coloration of said railing even after he pried his hand off such that he actively had to reset the texture. Then he was walking along a silver metallic floor, where not only was the liquid metal of the feet taking on the silver color of the floor, but it was also squishing like some sort of jelly. Then later, when 'Sarah' is calling out for John and another Sarah with the shotgun tells him to get out of the way, he looks down and sees that the feet of the first Sarah are colored like the metal grating, and that's what clues him in and prompts him to yell 'Shoot'.
Fun fact: the security guard that stepped on the the T-1000 was an identical twin, and that was his brother in the shot. Bonus fun fact: that was Linda Hamilton's twin sister at the end in the metal refinery
When the Terminator says that he understands why people cry but it's something that he can never do talking about tears. I have that in common with him because I have never shaded tears before and never will because I lack the ability to produce tears. No I don't have dry eyes, that part works.
Good choice! Watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles next. A favorite by many reaction channels and if you liked Spaceballs you gonna enjoy John Candy. Happy Trails
Sarah in T2, Ripley in Alien and Aliens, and Samus Aran from the Metroid-videogame-series are the best female badasses of all time, period. Edit: And Terminator 2 is the best Action Movie ever made. Edit 2: Man, so many favourite moments! Favourite special effect was when the T-1000 went through the steel bars. Favourite action scene was a tie between the motorcycle/truck chase scene and Arnold wiht the minigun. Favourite heart pounding moment was every time T-1000 caught up to a vehicle on foot! Favourite moment overall though was Sarah's inner monnologue about the Terminator bonding with John. @@TheRealGSmith I disagree on that last one. But I don't want to get into a tedious argument over each other's opinion on people who don't really exist, so I'd like to simply agree to disagree. Cool?
He is how I think the time paradox works, there is one timeline as explained by Kyle Reese where nothing we see in the movies happens. Then there's the new timeline caused by SKYNET losing in Kyle Reese's timeline. There are two John Connors, the one in Kyle Reese's timeline fathered by someone else. And the second John Connor that we know fathered by Kyle Reese. The first John Connor is never born in the movie timeline and is effectively replaced by the second.
Congratulations on seeing the greatest blockbuster action movie of all time! Nothing compares to it; the action sequences, the message, the acting, the character development, the cool factor--even the special effects hold up today.
I watched this when I was 6 in 1992 religiously. The mini gun scene still gives me goosebumps to this day. James Cemeron said in that scene he wanted to make sure there were no ricochet sounds that you would hear in a shootout. Because Terminator is a skilled marksmen and didn't want to kill any of the cops.
The funniest part of the movie is that the T-1000 went to John's foster parent's house and started cooking dinner before John called

And he had a cameo as... the police helicopter pilot! That guy who shouts 'its a damn minigun!' is the stunt pilot himself.
Some people lost their leg or their hand in the War.
Tamburro lost his fear.

It is surprisingly rare to see someone actually breath there last breath the way Miles does in this movie.
That sounds epic.

@@Scripture-ManAliens, Empire Strikes Back, Godfather II, Top Gun Maverick, Bladerunner 2049, Dune II, The Dark Knight… so, yeah, one of.
The switch up with Arnold as the hero in this one is my absolute favorite thing in the franchise. :)
Both Hamilton sisters also appeared together in the finale (46:50 "Get out of the way, John.")
I didn't know that until a couple of years ago. She was also in a good vampire movie called Near Dark.
Yeah, and his foster dad is Red John from The Mentalist ;-)
Two facts I noticed from other comments on other videos (I forget which ones):
1: The T1000 was actually supposed to slash through the prison bars, but the actor decided to go with the phase-through approach instead.
2: The actor playing the creepy orderly licking Sarah was actually really uncomfortable with what he had to do. I seem to remember him actually asking that his character be beaten up for that action.
I believe the cop that is doubled at the vending machine is also done by brothers.
The other Sarah Connor was played by Linda Hamiltons twin sister! Also the "floor" guard was played by his twin brother!!
Actually, when they are both in the shot, Leslie Hamilton plays Sarah, while Linda plays the T-1000. Probably because Linda needed to act and talk the most.
The Stanton twins were also in Gremlins 2 and Good Morning Vietnam.

People watching today get the 'Arnie is the GOOD GUY??' shock, while those of us who saw the trailer in 91 were spoiled.
The TV trailer ended with the tagline _"This time there's two: One to destroy, and one to protect."_
Robert Patrick trained himself to run at full speed without obviously breathing heavily and in the first take accidently caught up to the motorcycle because he was actually running that fast.
he also trained himself to shoot without blinking
actually he ran so fast that the actor playing John didn't dare to drive faster, so they had to have a stunt person drive the bike.

There's one important factor to keep in mind when trying to understand the Terminator timelines: Don't try to understand the Terminator timelines.

Especially if you watch the other Terminator movies. Genisys and Dark Fate really screw up everything.
@@Kennyisdarkvanilla What other Terminator movies? There's only the two as far as I'm concerned.
With a different style of foregrip. When Jesse used it, it had a backwards M-60 forearm for some reason.
I think according to internet movie firearms database they say Miniguns like that have been modded to fire at only about a third of their usual fire rate, so they can actually see some barrel rotation.
@@Kodos13 I really wish movies would portray miniguns accurately. Way more terrifying and impactful that way imo.
I'll use my customary joke: in that moment, Sarah had realised that she had become a Terminator, Too.
In the comics preceeding this Danny plays a big role.
“GET DOWN!” One of the best twists in blockbuster history!

There's worthwhile stuff now and then in later Terminator films, but in all honesty, these first two are the only ones that are truly essential.
Your “Like and subscribe!” comment at Arnold’s thumbs up literally made me like and subscribe.
Fun fact: they used a pair of twins for the scene at 22:18. It saved them a fortune in special effects. The same actors are also in 'Gremlins 2'.

And it's named 'bootstrapping' because of the idea that you can lift yourself up by your bootstraps (you cannot IRL). It's also used in computer programming for the problem where a computer needs a drive to get the program to access the drive.

I could never get past the first episode. It just felt so campy and cheap. Is it getting better after that?
I think most of us would agree that we would rather see you watch one episode of Sarah Connor Chronicles than any of the other Terminator movies.

The fact that it ended on that cliffhanger too… that sucked
2 of my favorites are:

Well, we sort of did, or would have, if it wasn't blatantly spoiled in the trailers.
@@LucianDevine agreed T-1000%
It was too heavily advertised so it was t a surprise for anyone who saw the trailer. Thats why I stopped watching trailers for movies I want to see
You should check out the different cuts of this movie.
Wait, why does she?
The ending for that cut was not so great, but yeah there are some amzing scenes I wish they kept in the movie
Also a short scene where T-1000’s morphing camouflage starts glitching after he gets frozen.
@@genghisgalahad8465 Because she hates terminators.
There's also the part after Arny and John sus out that the T-1000 is at the house because of Max that the T-1000 kills Max.
Which of course is official "cannon" at the time, to be displaced when they make a new movie that contradicts it.Two big things stand out in the novel
43:10 Can this get any more epic?? 2 MINUTES LATER "Hasta La Vista, Baby" lol
There's even a scene with Kyle 🥰
The ending is worse, though.
@@StarkRG I like the ending in the new future, but I like more the theatrical ending, the one Cameron Improvised when he ran out of time, no scene, just an empty highway at night, driving into the dark, while Sarah made her final speech "maybe we can too"
Every 80s kid always sheds a tear in the end with the 👍 scene.
Finally. God I love Judgement Day, and God I love the Mirandalorian.

@ I’m English; whilst I’m aware you take your Twinkie time very seriously, do not support your nation’s grammatical corner-cutting.
Glad you liked both Terminator movies. Too bad they never made any more. There’s only two. Yup.
Only two.
Welcome aboard this has been my favorite movie since i first watched it in the 90s when i was about 7.
Yes, for Thanksgiving preferably.
Oh thats a 10/10 film. Any time its on, no matter at what stage the film is at; I have to sit down and watch it. So good.
Really makes you think about all the people who don't live up to their responsibilities, eb it as parents or otherwise, and subsequently what your own place and duty is in this world.
Incomplete list without Buffy Summers, but yes.
These movies hadn't embraced multiversal timeline theory yet, they're simply based on a bootstrap paradox.
