Hi Emma, Thanks for your support;. 🙏 You can definitely find newer options as far as apartments, and it has it's own little community (to include, small park, shops, eateries etc.) within a gated community. On the outside of the community there are a couple of really nice supermarkets (HEB, La Comer, Walmart) on both sides of a highway. If you like that style of living, then it can work for you but keep in mind a car is a must. Everyone has their own personal lifestyle preferences so with that said, we would recommend checking the area out for yourself to see how you like it.

Is el centro too noisy for an older lady like me who likes quiet at night?
Hi Ms. Laura, It all depends on where you find a place, and what type of noise bothers you personally. You will definitely hear church bells in the distance throughout the day (we love that though). Also, when there is a celebration etc., you will be in the mix of that. I would say you can probably find something on a quiet side street but still walkable to anything you could want. 😉
Querétaro does look like a beautiful city that would appeal to many expats because it's clean, modern, safe, with many nice neighborhoods? Rents sound like they are high though? Many of us would think twice about attending a soccer game in person there after seeing fans rioting at the recent soccer match between Querétaro and Atlas in which several fans were killed.
No one was killed and it is the first time ever. The government was embarrased big time and will fix it. One thing though, those ppl were from small ghetto places outside Queretaro
It really is a lovely city Status. Unfortunately, things happen all over the world but Queretaro is a very safe city.
How are the roads and sidewalks for walking especially for older people, expats?
Which one is the most walkable and pedestrianized (fewest cars)?

When you get there from US , you guys and your dogs did not have altitude sickness? Im planing to take my dog there next year. I bit worry about that. Because i had that in Mexico city
When we arrived in Queretaro, we or our dogs didnt experience any altitude sickness. I think Mexico city (7350) is much higher than Queretaro (5970).
