Soren and Michael are actually tied for "who would survive". Soren kept Michael from taking his food, and then proceeded to eat it in front of Dan to show his resilience against Michael's "power".

While not eating it, he did pick it up and touched it. Soren stopped him from taken it, but not from actively touching it first before he could eat it.
Would only need a touch to poison that food that Soren willingly ate.

I love this episode especially because After Hours itself is pretty Tarantinoesque in premise: a bunch of characters casually deconstructing entertainment and geek culture over diner food. It's like if Quentin had his own talk show.

In Reservoir Dogs, Mr. Pink is the only person who chooses not to tip at the diner, and coincidentally he's the only member of the group to survive. One could see the fact that he wasn't willing to put in tip money for a meal payed for by someone else as stealing the buyer's food. He ends up putting in money anyway because everyone chews him out on it, but the food stealing rule still stands in this situation, in my opinion.

With an enormous amount of Western tropes. I don't think shooting location or even narrative setting dictates a Western as much as the themes. On the other hand, who cares, it rocked my balls.

    • @WondrousLanternProductions
      @WondrousLanternProductions 10 лет назад

Western is a genre for a movie which I think xxEDJExx was trying to say. The only thing that matters location wise is that it must take place in the united states. Sure, it can be shot in a different country such as "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" but that doesn't mean that the setting in the story is the location of the shooting. Also, to add a more drama into this topic, Tarantino recently stated that he will not be making his last western which was supposed to tie together Django and Basterds.

I love the idea that Tarantino characters share a universe and some are related! It’s always been my personal little theory that all characters sharing an actor are descendants/reincarnations or something like that, like that Hans Landa is a descendant of Dr Shultz, for instance. I know it doesn’t make much sense, but I always liked it 😊

    Connections:
1- Dr. King Schultz and Paula Schultz - Dr. King Schulz is a character in the movie "Django Unchained,"wich is a German dentist turned bounty hunter. Paula Schultz is the name of the grave that Beatrix Kiddo (The bride) from the movies (Kill Bill Volume 1 and Kill Bill Volume 2) was buried. Paula Schultz was the wife of Dr. King Schultz. While searching the web for these connections I found a theory on the Miramax website that speculated about Dr. King Schultz and why he was in the bounty hunting business at all. In the beginning of the movie, Django asks him how long he has been a dentist and he answers with he had given up dentistry almost five years ago to become a bounty hunter. Dr. King Schultz never talks about family much, but it is speculated that his wife, PAULA, left him and that is why he took up the business. Later his wife realizes the terrible deed she has done and goes out seeking him, only to find he has been killed by Calvin Candie. After hearing this she is so devastated she never gets married again, and keeps Dr. King Schultz’s last name. Finally she dies in 1893, buried with the tombstone that says PAULA SCHULTZ 1823-1893. That’s the same grave that Beatrix Kiddo is buried alive in almost one hundred years later.
2Django Unchained and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - The Western town set (Melody Ranch) is used for movie Bounty Law and can be seen during the interview with Rick & Cliff.
3-Red Apple Cigarettes - the cigarette brand created by Tarantino can be seen in the films "Django Unchained", “The Hateful Eight”, “Inglourious Basterds”, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, "Reservoir Dogs", "Four Rooms", "Death Proof", "Planet Terror", "From Dusk Till Dawn", "Pulp Fiction”, "Kill Bill Volume 1". PACK OF RED APPLES, keeping with our theme of Tarantino’s signature brands.
4-Gerald Nash, Marvin Nash and Gerald Nash - Gerald Nash is a member of Gang Bacall. Django Freeman and Dr. King Schultz are searching for their leader, Smitty Bacall, in the movie "Django Unchained". Marvin Nash is the tortured cop in "Reservoir Dogs". Gerald Nash is a policeman killed by the Knox couple, his death is mentioned in the TV program in "Natural Born Killers". Gerald Nash is the Great Great Grandfather of Gerald and Marvin. Marvin and Gerald are cousins.
5-Crazy Craig Koons and Captain Koons - Crazy Craig Koons is a member of Gang Bacall. Django Freeman and Dr. King Schultz are searching for their leader, Smitty Bacall, in the movie "Django Unchained". Captain Koons is a character in "Pulp Fiction", played by Christopher Walken. Crazy Craig Koons is the Great Great Grandfather of Captain Koons.
6-THE MAYNARDS - RELATIONSHIP: GREAT GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER AND GREAT GREAT GREAT GRANDSON (ISH). While it’s never explicitly confirmed, the guy who yells out “Ain’t no ni**a gonna kill Maynard!” in Django Unchained is probably named Maynard. Assuming this is true, the rest of his family survived under the knowledge that a black man came through and killed their own kin. Further stoking the fires of what already seemed to be a racist bunch, this otherwise epic story would be the perfect indoctrination for little racist Maynards to pass down from generation to generation. Maybe even to a guy who owns his own pawn shop, complete with sex toys and a leathered gimp downstairs. At least, that what seems to be the case in Pulp Fiction. Pulling a particularly hostile attitude on Marcellus Wallace (Ving Rhames), the great-great grandson (Duane Whitaker) of Maynard is not only a racist, but a sexual deviant with law enforcement assistance (Peter Greene).
7-Oswaldo Mobray and Lieutenant Archibald Hicox - Oswaldo Mobray known as English Pete Hicox he is a gang member outlaw Jody Domergue of the moviev The Hateful Eight. Lieutenant Archibald Hicox is a British Army officer who joins up with The Basterds in Inglourious Basterds. Played by Michael Fassbender.Pete Hicox Great Great Great Grandfather of Lieutenant Archibald Hicox.English Pete & Archie Hicox. Relationship: Great Great Great Grandfather And Great Great Grandson.
8- Johnny Madrid is a dangerous outlaw who became a legend after his criminal acts, character "From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter". In "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" the character James Stacey plays the legendary criminal on the Lancer TV show.
9-Santanico Pandemonium - is a character in the movie "From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter" and "From Dusk Till Dawn". Santanico is a stripper in the club Titty Twister in Mexico, she is also a vampire queen. In "From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter" is revealed that her real name was Esmeralda.
10-Titty Twister - is a vampire bar that appears in the movies "From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter" and "From Dusk Till Dawn”. The curious fact is that in the movie "From Dusk Till Dawn" it is completely destroyed, but in the movie "From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money" there's another vampire bar with the same name.
11-Razor Charlie and Razor Eddie - are the brothers working as bartender in Titty Twister, and are also vampires. Razor Charlie appears in the movies "From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter" and "From Dusk Till Dawn". Razor Eddie in the movie "From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money".
12-Lt. Aldo Raine:Character in Inglourious Basterds played by Brad Pitt.Floyd: Floyd is a character played by Brad Pitt in True Romance. Floyd is Dick Ritchie's unemployed roommate. Floyd loves to smoke weed and watch TV. In "Quentin Tarantino's Universe", the character of Lt. Aldo Raine is Floyd's - aka The pothead on the couch from True Romance - great grandfather.
13-Sergeant Donny Donowitz and filmmaker Lee Donowitz - Sergeant Donny Donowitz is a character in the movie "Inglourious Basterds", member of the Bastards, known as The Bear Jew. The filmmaker Lee Donowitz is a very successful film producer in Hollywood, character in the movie "True Romance". Lee is the son of Sergeant Donny Donowitz.
14-Adolf Hitler (historical figure) was the leader of the Nazi Party and head of state of the Third German Reich. He is featured as a character in the Inglourious Basterds, and his image appears in Natural Born Killers when Mickey Knox is watching television at the Hotel.
15-Death Proof - Tarantino’s half of the experimental double feature Grindhouse - introduces audiences to Mike McKay, a murderous stuntman portrayed by Kurt Russell. Fast forward more than a decade, and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood sees Russell cameo as another stunt performer named Randy. Is it possible that these two guys are related? We think it’s highly likely. Sure, the main thing connecting them is their matching profession and Russell’s involvement, but that’s more than enough to make them relatives in Tarantino’s shared universe. For our money, Stuntman Randy is the father of Stuntman Mike and his brother, Bob - as ol’ Randy’s a bit too long in the tooth to be anyone else.
16-Charles Manson (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Natural Born Killers)
17- El Coyote is a restaurant and also works on the US-Mexico border as a motel. It appears in the movies "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" and "From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money".
18- Vega Family - Vic Vega aka Vic Palito or Mr. Blonde is a psychopathic bank robber character in the movie "Reservoir Dogs". Vincent Vega is a gangster in the movie "Pulp Fiction". Vic and Vincent are brothers. The Mexican restaurant where Rick (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Cliff (Brad Pitt) characters from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is called Casa Vega. The owners are parents of the Vega brothers.
19-Larry Dimmick and Alabama Whitma - Larry is known as Mr. White, a bank robber, a character from the movie "Reservoir Dogs". Alabama Whitman is the main character in the movie "True Romance". Larry Dimmick has already done some criminal work in partnership with Alabama Whitman.
20-Larry Dimmick and Jimmie Dimmick - Larry is known as Mr. White, a bank robber, a character from the movie "Reservoir Dogs". Jimmie Dimmick is a character from "Pulp Fiction", played by Quentin Tarantino. Larry Dimmick is also brother of Jimmie Dimmick.

I think it's actually the opposite of that. So many movies have deaths of male characters but refrain from killing females for whatever reason. QT movies doesn't really do this, having both male and female characters die in some pretty brutal ways. this shows that he doesn't think, or at least does not think there should be, a distinction between the deaths of males or females.

Basically yes, they advertise to us being a subcriber but then when we subscibe, they don't pay any attention to us. They tell us to be a subcriber just to be ignored. That's how a lot of RUclips people are. Like Tobuscus, at the end of every one of his vidoes, he says, "do do do do do do do do do subcribe" But only rarely talks about us that are already subcribers. If I was famous on youtube my ending for every video would be, "subcribe, Subcribe, SUBCRIBE!!! But if you're already a subcriber then that makes you more awesome then people who aren't already." This is the chronological order in which I believe Quentin Tarantino’s films exist within his universe...
    DJANGO UNCHAINED
    INGLORIOUS BASTERDS
    TRUE ROMANCE
    KILL BILL (Pilot TV episode)
    PULP FICTION
FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (movie filmed in universe after events of Pulp Fiction)
    RESERVOIR DOGS
    JACKIE BROWN
Craig Koons (Wanted from bounty list on Django unchained) is the great grandfather of Captain Koons, who is the Twin brother of Vincenzo Cocotti (separated at birth during WWII, which also explains why Koons faught in Vietnam), Vincenzo is the Father of Vega brothers ...Vincent (Pulp Fiction) Virgil (True Romance) and Victor (Reservoir Dogs)
-Marcel (Inglourious Basterds) is Marcellus wallace’s Grandfather
-Sgt Donowitz (Inglorious Basterds) was Lee Donowitz’ Grandfather (True Romance)
-Lt Aldo Raine (Inglorious Basterds) was Floyd’s Grandfather (True Romance).
-Winston Wolf is actually Mr White (Reservoir Dogs)
-Kill bill was the Fox Force 5 pilot TV episode.
-Mr Brown is Jimmy from Pulp Fiction Jimmy’s Wife was Jackie Brown, she became a flight attendant after Jimmy died in Reservoir Dogs. (If you slow motion her coming home from work, you can definitely see that she is a black woman)
-Ordell Robbie (Jackie Brown) is actually Jules (Pulp Fiction) years later.
-Ringo (Pulp Fiction) later became Mr Orange to avoid jail time.
-Buddy Holly (Pulp Fiction) later becomes Mr pink... he doesn’t tip because he was never tipped when he worked as a waiter.
-The Briefcase (Pulp Fiction) contained the last remaining amount of cocaine recovered from True Romance
-Fox Force 5, Desperado, Coming Home in a Body Bag, and From Dusk Till dawn were all produced by “Lee Donowitz” from the Tarantino universe.
-Winston Wolf, Jimmy Brown, and Mia Wallace were “hollywood actors” who got into crime later in the films.

All Tarantino films are musicals. All the little soliloquies are ballads, the conversations are duets, the violence is a dance, and all the supporting characters are comedy relief. Watch any Fred Aster and Ginger Rogers film and you are looking at a Tarantino film. All the tension is waiting for the introduction of a song or dance, and everything in between is operatic fill. You can just imagine, Pulp Fiction, The Musical.

I guess I was coming at it from a transactional analysis point of view. I should have said, taking other people's food isn't establishing dominance... it's an invitation for the other person to either reprimand them (parent gimmick), explain why they shouldn't (like Soren, adult gimmick), or answer with silence and fear (child gimmick). The whole thing with animals is that they already have the dominance in place before the food is introduced to the situation. Just like these movies.

i thought only Tarantino could draw all the dots to make a big picture with all the little ones, and that anybody else had to be as out there as he is.
    i still feel this way.
