Supposedly, the reason Vincent isn't alerted by Butch's fussing in the kitchen, is because he thought it was Marcelles who'd returned with the coffee and donuts and it's possible the Uzi was his. It all kinda makes sense, but I only heard this hypothesis less than a year ago, not sure I've rewatched the movie since (but seen several times already, sooo from memory makes sense).

That actually makes a ton of sense. Probably didn't take Jules with them because he's a changed man and all that (or he was just busy elsewhere) and Marsellus wanted to see Butch firsthand because he lost a lot of money, or something like that.
Tried finding info and they say (in the comments, so) that DVD commentary puts that as Marsellus' weapon
Why was Marcellus bringing coffee and donuts to Butch's house?
This retconning just makes the scene dumb in a different way. Now they are hanging out at Butch's house waiting for him, but Vincent decides to wait in the bathroom while there is a submachinegun on the kitchen table? LOL

There is a theory about what’s in the briefcase: supposedly it’s Marcellus Wallace’s soul. Basically, he made a deal with the devil, and his soul left his body through a slit cut in the back of his neck (per the ritual I guess). There is a bandage clearly shown on the back of his neck in the first scene he’s in.
Also Vince probably thought Butch was Marcellus returning with the donuts, and that was probably Marcellus’ uzi on the counter.
I really think it's just heroin. Cause people say "is that what I think it is" when they see it and how the fuck would complete strangers know what a human soul looks like?

8:30 - I rewound that scene a couple of times, those holes in the wall are there before the fella unloads his piece at them. So I was wondering if the bullets had been fired long before that exact moment/scene, no one noticed, and the poor fella had walked out of the bathroom with a gun loaded with blanks, that he didn't know about. Which led Jules to believe he was 'the chosen one' or whatever...
I guess in movie logic yes, but they would be able to tell if they were blanks.
You're correct the bullet holes were there before he got out of the bathroom. I think it's because the movie had a really small budget and had to take multiple takes therefore they couldn't patch the wall everytime. That's also why they probably zoomed in close to Jewls face hoping the forced perspective would fool the average audience member. Good eye, I haven't seen many people catch that detail.
Title should have been "Pulp Fiction censored by an idiot"
It's supposed to be Marcellus's soul in the briefcase. The bandaid on the back of his head is supposedly where it got taken out. I couldn't tell you confidently why it's at the back of the head. The code to get in the briefcase though is 6-6-6. A lot of neat little details in this movie, and all of Tarantino's work.
And throughout the movie, Vincent is meant to be seen the most incompetent hitman/gangster/whatever there is. Accidentally shooting the one guy, leaving the Uzi on the counter, Uma Thurman overdosing. And the fact he's always constipated because of the heroin. Makes you need to poop but it's very hard to. That's why he's always going to the bathroom.

Guns go on the nearest flat surface when you're in the bathroom so it doesn't lay on the floor with your pants. Still in the holster of course, no reason to be reckless. Only idiots with guns leave them laying around, loaded and unholstered in another room. Know the law, buy a decent security holster, train with your handgun frequently. Carry safely everyone.
Edit: and for gods sake if you have more than the one you carry daily and keep under your pillow (figuratively, of course), lock it up and store the ammunition separately. An unsecured gun isn't a safe gun no matter what way you slice it.

I always leave my guns extra loaded on hilly surfaces, unholstered of course, several rooms away if possible. I do my best to juggle my guns safely, but my fingers keep getting caught on the triggers when tossing them. My children are getting pretty good about picking the guns up off the floor and bringing them to me when I leave them lying around and they know to make sure the safety is on first before twirling them in their fingers by the trigger. We are a safety first family!

The gun was most likely Marsellus' gun. He went to to get some food. Which is shown later when Butch tries to run him over and the pawn shop stuff happens. Vincent must have thought that Marsellus came back.
