It helps when this much footage of a subject endlessly narrating his own career to journalists for 30 years running. Also when a 30 minute video that is 80% autobiographical narration gets complimented for having almost no narration. Interesting narrative device.
There's a documentary called LA92 about the Rodney King incident and riots that was gripping and informative. It wasnt until after watching it (or maybe showing it to a friend) that I realized there was zero narration or new interviews. It told the entire story with real footage; I was always impressed by that and wish more docs would do the same.
@@christofthedead It makes for a much better video than some guy talking in a monotone voice over stock footage. Quentin is the antithesis of modern Hollywood. In a world of IP milking and unoriginal remakes and rehashes to make a quick buck, he is a shining example of how having an actual artistic vision, and the integrity to make something that isn’t just a bunch of corporate board room decisions can make all the difference.
Well said, it’s the difference of real talent compared to studying and being brought up in that lifestyle, to where you are basically handed your position. A true pioneer (edited punctuation was kinda hard to read)
Quentin didn't milk IP's he milked a genre. Crime movies had been a relic of the dirty 70s, the decade in film that influenced him the most, and he brought it back and updated it for a new generation. Reservoir dogs and Pulp Fiction are love letters to cinema.
Pretty sure the inglourious basterds and Django topics couldn't possibly be more milked but I'm sure they will be. Theyre pure mental masturbation that people have been drooling about in various forms forever.

Barely anyone working today can compare to his encyclopedic knowledge about cinema and the craft of filmmaking, and what a magnificent asset that is for him to create his movies. amazing how you tell a story with words from so many movies, a phrase from Pulp Fiction that fits perfectly into the narrative then to a line from the Heightful 8, beautiful.
But it also taught me to distrust the Oscars. I was a kid and knew PF was a touchstone in modern cinema and deserved to be rewarded as the best of the year ... and not Forest Gump ! Sheesh.
Man I watch PP probably 20 years after its release and it was an eye opening. Even when I'm watching it again these days, it never gets old for me. It's truly a timeless classic.
Remember when movies were made by movie nerds who love the art, instead of by a bunch of producers trying to milk any franchise they can get their hands on?
Tarantino's rise feels like the ultimate rags-to-filmmaking riches story. And say what you want about his personality/endless references, but the man DEFINITELY left his stamp on cinema.
Isn’t it amazing how desensitised to violence on screen we are now. Quentin and many other directors were catching serious shit, hate, and constantly questioned for their use of violence. Now we have films like John Wick, The raid, the night comes for us, and many other visceral intensely gorey violence. How times change eh?
Because they literally explained in the beginning that the making of the story of pulp fiction was based on his own personal story, and that what he was going through in his life bled through his script.

I found this video cause it autoplayed after watching your new iceberg video. In a weird way, you led me to this masterpiece of a video. So thanks Snook. Your videos are pretty good too, I like to listen to them while I do puzzles.
W Channel
You don't find this level of quality on youtube everyday. Superb job, outstanding. QT would be proud.
Love your videos, Dodford! Your editing is legendary
I appreciate that!
Dodford you are amazing. It's the first video that I saw and I just blown away
Then I just bing watch your channel whole day.
Thanks for making documentry video like this
I wanted to make videos like you but I don't find how to start making videos.
I am blown away. Tarantino is a movie star bigger than actors in his movies. And the video is very well made.
amazing how you tell a story with words from so many movies, a phrase from Pulp Fiction that fits perfectly into the narrative then to a line from the Heightful 8, beautiful.
HAPPY 30TH PULP FICTION! the movie that taught me to love movies
But it also taught me to distrust the Oscars. I was a kid and knew PF was a touchstone in modern cinema and deserved to be rewarded as the best of the year ... and not Forest Gump ! Sheesh.
Wake up babe, new Dodford video dropped 🙌
👋
0:48 thats all i needed to hear
Huh?
One of the greatest intros to a video I'VE EVER SEEN. Pictures of Matchstick men!
Oh my God, this is incredible!
Everybody else has said it but it's surreal to create this level of storytelling with almost no narration.
Damn Dodford, another absolute classic from you! Will have to do a Tarantino movie marathon now :D
You are the Tarantino of editing bro! The editing on this was oscar worthy, no fuc**ng joke! I am stunned!
Thank you.
I just have to leave a comment after watching this: this video is actually living up to the quality of its theme.
Everyone's talking about how great the editing is (which is true) but damn the music choice is also top tier
Absolutely insane editing!! Banger video as always.
The entire video was amazing but that end sequence might be the best career highlight piece of media I've ever seen.
babe, wakeup! new dodford aspect ratio just dropped.
Yo the editing in this video is wild, wildly good that is.
"I see that you have passion for our product would you like to work with us?" Is it that difficult to ask me this question too 😭😭😭
Phenomenal job, I really enjoyed this
Full screen, 4K, excellent story telling... New favourite channel.
Nice
Nice
@@DodfordYT no, really. Your videos never disappoint. Thank you for all the effort you put in!
A $5 milkshake in today's dollars would be $11.56
why not show clips of reservoir dogs when he's talking about reservoir dogs instead of showing pulp fiction clips
Because they literally explained in the beginning that the making of the story of pulp fiction was based on his own personal story, and that what he was going through in his life bled through his script.
