This game is a damn masterpiece. Arkham Knight is the pinnacle of the franchise; it has the best combat, movement, and gadgets, and I absolutely love the Batmobile. An incredible, nearly flawless experience from start to finish.
The Batmobile combat is honestly better than the main gameplay in most games. Juking those bullet lines while trying to build up a combo and use a special move was really good. I just wish the Arkham Knight plotline was done better and there were more good bossfights like Poison Ivy or Mr. Freeze. The boss fights are alright, just not as good as in older games. Even with those things, yeah, best of the franchise.
Only thing you got wrong is you said nearly flawless..it's flawless. I can't believe this game looks this good and feels so immersive. The atmosphere, Npc dialogue and that city. The best city iv ever seen in a game..including cyberpunk..arkham city puts it to shame.
I love this game. Everyone says it overused the batmobile and while I agree, I see it as a positive. I really enjoyed driving the batmobile and fighting with it for the most part, which made the game even better for me. Saying its not batman like is wrong. Batman is not just silent detective. You play a game where he is fighting 20 dudes at once multiple times while breaking walls using explosives etc. The batmobile is another aspect of batman that we got to experience for the first time. I totally get people who don't like arkham knight. If you don't like this aspect of batman, having to deal with it continuously isn't very enjoyable indeed. But I loved it and so, in conjunction with all the other stuff like even better refined combat and amazing graphics that still hold up to this day, the batmobile plays a key part in me viewing this as the best game in the series.
Thats the point. People only take out one or two drawbacks of the game and ignore most of the positive things about the game and say that the game was trash

Batmobile was fun as heck.. people were just expecting old formula but with new pain over it. I agree with him on most of the video, but at 2:05 when he said Arkham City has conservative improvements to Asylum, I almost lost it. Nearly every aspect of Batman’s gameplay got improved or innovated in City. More combat moves, better detective mode, better traversal mechanics, better stealth, better story, etc. don’t disrespect Arkham City like that lol
They released 4 consecutive Arkham games that added new mechanics on-top of one another and they got better each time; aside from Origins which loses some points for being a lateral follow up to AC.
I’ve been playing it for the first time the last couple of months, although the bat mobile is tedious in a few parts I had a great time with this batman game and will play the others as soon as I get 100% on this! 8/10 game
This game came out 6 years ago and it’s still one of the best games you can ever play. Packed with content. Visually it is still breathtaking to this day. I read a quote from one of the developers that the Batman model’s polygon count alone is bigger than the polygon count of the entire Arkham Asylum environment, which is pretty insane. The character models really are stunning though. I keep coming back to this game every now and then and still have a lot of fun. I can only imagine what Rocksteady could do on next-gen consoles like the PS5.
I agree. If they had cut the Batmobile fights in half it would have been ok. It was mainly the fact that you not only had to use the Batmobile to fight in the main campaign, but also use it to fight on those side missions (Campaign For Disarmament and some of the Own The Roads missions). Other than that the game was perfect. I just played it through for the fourth time (I played it twice in 2015 when it came out - Game then New Game Plus - then played it again in 2017 - and again in June of this year. I still can’t believe how good the graphics are for it. I play these new release titles for 2020 and some from last year and the graphics are either on par or some even not as good as Knight. A good example would be the Avengers BETA I just played. I know it’s a BETA, but the BETA is usually just to test the game for bugs and glitches. The graphics are usually 99% reflective of what the final game will look like. The graphics in BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT are BETTER than MARVEL’S AVENGERS! Crazy. Spider-Man was great. Can’t wait to play the Miles Morales add-on to the game. The Avengers game (I know it’s just a BETA) felt VERY repetitive and just didn’t feel solid. Hopefully I am wrong because I pre-ordered it and never want to waste my money on a bad game. I am glad Rocksteady finally announced that their new game for the PS4/PS5 will be Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Can’t wait for WB Montreal to give us details at DC Fandome and also announce their new Batman Game “Batman: Gotham Knights”. 👍🏻
Arkham Knight aged like fine wine. They literally don't make games likes this no more. Look at those graphics! No filler content or bloated story to sell you microtransactions, no stupid "RPG" elements like enemy levels like they will do in Gotham Knights. Just a great 20 hours or so game for you to enjoy without any BS. The only negative is the over use of the bat-tank. But other than that is amazing!
Arkham knight is indeed a great game . But rocksteady's third entry introduced a set of problems , 1. The bat tank - although a nice addition it was over used to the point that it is indeed repetitive especially the rising amount of tanks we have to destroy for like 20 plus mine missions 🤦🏻♂️ and chase firefly with the batmobile every single time to get a cutscene etc 2. Total lack of boss battles - for a series known for spectacular boss fights this game is totally devoid of boss fights , arkham knight is just a sniper one shot level where we have to sneak under him and press a button , all the other fights are either play hide and seek with a tank ( even deathstroke ) or just go all out with the tank ( the pyg fight was good ) ; scarecrow only exists in cutscenes ! 3. Too much copy paste side mission design - the game has like 20 firefighter fights 🤦🏻♂️ every fight is the same and 10 would have been the right amount ; the game takes every side mission and makes the player do it too many times just to get wayne points Hope rocksteady doesn't make these mistakes in the future
The series wasnt really known for its boss fights. Sure it had one of the best boss fights in all of gaming with freeze, but all the rest made by rocksteady weren't really anything to shout about.
Team Killer Joker " known for spectacular boss fights " is not " known for ITS Boss fights " ; sorry mate this ain't an argument, because I never said anything about ALL OF GAMING , or about known only for its boss fights 😅 SPECTACULAR- beautiful in a dramatic eye catching way
This is just a really great game. The Batmobile, despite being overused, is one of the best designed vehicle in a game and its tank combat is straight up fun. It excels upon everything that City built on, like combat, traversal, et cetera. I even liked Jason being Arkham Knight. And this is the best BATMAN simulator out of the series. This game, despite not being the best in the series, is still better than 90% of the other Superhero games out there and still looks better than most games.
The story was ok, and the bat mobile almost ruined the game/pacing for me, but the rest was damn near perfect. Make the bat mobile optional next time and it’s a 10/10!
Hands down Arkham Origins have the best boss fights. Arkham Knight trash boss fights, way too much use of the batmobile, should've added the bike and jet to use.
Thank god I've enjoyed Batman Arkham Asylum and city in very high ultra graphics. Origins at very low. We'll Arkham knight is a dream game for my pc. I hope in the future.
Best combat, best stealth, graphics that look better than a lot of games nowadays, much bigger, better and easier to navigate open world, best voice acting, and most unique and bold story (it is debatable whether it is actually the best story, most people would say it isn't, but it's by far the ballsiest one, willing to explore Batman's fears and psyche). The ending was also absolutely incredible, genius. Focus on the negatives but it does more things better than the previous ones than it does worse
You misspelled greatest, i can't figure out how some of you think this is worse than Asylum. Jesus Christ, Asylum was an amazing game, but it's not even close. Knight does everything better. Now that i think about it, i can see that some of you are blinded by nostalgia.
What people failed to realize is that the game is not about how surprised or shocked you feel playing the game... they're continuing a story...this takes place 9 months after Arkham city where that whole time Batman has been looking for the affected people and a cure...since origins it has been one long story... If you focus on it that way... Arkham Knight is a fitting end...
This game gets a lot of hate but I loved it the story wasn’t as good but people act like it was terrible outside of Arkham knight twist that everyone saw coming and the Barbra thing that was also obvious it was a satisfying conclusion which is something we rarely get anymore
If they had used the Batmobile less and had more actual boss fights this probably would’ve been the best Batman game. The combat and graphics were amazing, and it was awesome going around Gotham as Batman. Arkham City remains my favorite but I still love Arkham Knight despite some flaws.
The batmobile was really disliked. But I was fine with it. It was different and it felt fun when I learned the controls. It felt different from the first 2. And I get very different experiences from each one.
You really know this game is special when we haven’t had one like it in years and especially with the new games like Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad I can easily say I’d much prefer any Batman Arkham game on every level
I played this till completion recently. The only things I did not like were the crazy amount of Riddler challenges and some frustrating Batmobile parts. But otherwise, this game is pretty damn awesome. It feels like Batman, the missions were challenging at times and the graphics were spot on. I honestly enjoyed this more than City and Asylum, and I still do like them both.
This is my favorite super hero game. And yes, I played Spider-Man PS4, and that's a really good game but Batman AK never felt old while I was playing it. Spider-Man on the other hand, definitely felt old when I was chasing pigeons and taking pollution samples.
Arkham City was the best Arkham game hands down Arkham Knight had mesmerizing visuals and mechanics, however the story and boss fights were pretty boring.
As a standalone game Arkham knight is really good. Some story flaws. And boss fights are lacking quality. But overall, it's amazing. Knight is amazing in terms of quality. Playing it for the first time this year, and idk why I avoided it for so long. The batmobile isn't overused at all.
for me it was the best game in the arkham franchise.....(infact, one of the best games i ever played). If not for batmobile gameplay.....the game would have been closer to arkham city & origins.... batmobile is what gives this games its own identity.....if there were no batmobile boss fights....people would have complained about too less batmobile. I just love this game.
Jonathan Banks only voiced Commissioner Gordon in Arkham Knight. He did not voice Gordon in Asylum or City. Tom King voiced him in Arkham Asylum. David Kaye voiced him in Arkham City. That is why he sounds a little different (mainly in Knight) in the games.
I never played the arkham games (last batman game i played was on sega mega ddive as a kid). So what would best platform ps4 or pc? Id prefer pc but heard pc had some issues. Are they fixed or is ps4 the way to go?
I agree, I had the exact same experience as you. City and Asylum are some of my favorite games of all-time. Masterfully done. I was so hyped for this game. It was made by Rocksteady, on brand new hardware so the graphics would be better and world would be even bigger. It included being able to play in the Batmobile for the first time. And it was the final game in the Rocksteady trilogy and sure to go out with a bang. On paper it seemed glorious and like a sure home run. But that's the thing..."On paper". In execution it is actually my least favorite game in the series, and that's including Origins (which I think is underrated). The Batmobile sections instead of being fun and adding an extra element felt annoying and monotonous. It felt like instead of using the Batmobile to add to the game, they overdid it and made it a core aspect. Other than riding around in it for travel I didn't enjoy it's inclusion. The tank battles were too frequent and got annoying quickly. The races. Using it for boss fights, to solve puzzles, for Riddler challenges, etc. It became too much. I wish that was the only complaint but there are others as well. While some people are claiming the combat was at it's pinnacle and the best ever, I didn't feel that way. There were more enemy types and more enemies on screen. But I actually think this was a detriment. Because of the added enemies on screen they had to zoom out the camera and I absolutely HATED that! In previous installments the camera would be more zoomed in on the fight, up close and personal. You still had a lot of enemies on screen. But it was usually 4, 5, 6 maybe 7 or 8. It was much more manageable tactically. In Arkham Knight you constantly have 10+ enemies on screen. Some of which are immune to certain tactics and attacks. It makes the fights more of a slog, more convoluted, and more more draining and stressing instead of being fun. There's a fine balance and for me AK got it wrong! What else? The fact that it had the worst boss fights out of the trilogy! The story narrative was also pretty weak. I don't think it was a bad game per se. But definitely not on the level of the previous installments imo. The only things I would say were improvements were the graphics and the scope of Gotham City as a whole. The game did look gorgeous, I'll give it that. But at the end of the day video games are about gameplay and having fun, and while City they Asylum and Origins were more streamlined experiences, they were a lot more fun. Arkham Knight is proof that bigger and newer doesn't always = more fun. And despite the many glowing comments in this video, the general consensus is that AK is among the worst in the Arkham series. The reviews of the time confirm it, so do the Metacritic user scores, and rankings videos.
Played all of the arkham games growing up, having the itch in me to purchase a remastered batman game in 2021. Leaning towards arkham knight sense it's the most recent game & has a bunch of DLC stories & skins. The premium edition is on the playstation store for 10$ so I see it as a steal. Huge batman fan and miss playing all the old arkham games. Gonna give it a shot and buy arkham knight
Same. It was actually the first one I played and hooked me on the series. And even after playing the others I could still make an argument it is the best. I don't think there's anything actually bad about it, it just lacked innovation. But fans choose to blindly hate on it and ignore all the great things it has to offer, like Knight
@The Alpha One yeah, having to play that to get 100% was an absolute slog. But I'll be honest, I really loved the concept. Had it been better in execution I think it would've been really good

why did peole hate the batmobile fights? it's the ONE game I played that actually facilitates dodging instead of tanking and shooting it's story is the favorite of the arkham games
Great game, but preferred the riddles on Arkham City. The next game needs to have a functioning batcave and maybe the mansion and make them functional. It would also be great if the next game was larger map and has the batwing that you can use.
I remember when it came out. Everyone was bitching about the story being lame, joker being overused (Which I agree with, but thankfully the whole shattered psyche arc was great, enforces the humanity of wayne) the ending being locked behind the 100% wall, the batmobile hoard fights and stealth, and the open world being overly pointless due it being empty. That and performance problems. Glad to see that its gone down as it should have in history. Too many shit games these days makes me long for the days of old where games like this were seen as mediocre.
It would’ve been so much better if Arkham Knight didn’t force the usage of batmobile in boss fights and certain gameplay. If only Rocksteady gave the players the option to tackle each set-piece using your own choice of either stealth/combat/batmobile/mix and play your own way. Also did Rocksteady fool anyone by stating Arkham Knight is an original character and mos def not Jason Todd. Game was 7/10 while City 10/10 and Asylum 9/10. TBH Origins was better.
I pre-ordered the game. I am just now betting to play it. It seems to be pretty good but it has tons of graphical issues. I wish I vould have played it 5 years ago when it was released. (They changed the PC specs 24 hours before the release date.)
I remember this launching broken af on PC. This game, man.... Yes, we all wanted the Batmobile, but the way Rocksteady did it wasn't just "overused" but *ill-conceived.* Who knew Batman liked guns so much? Vehicular combat was chaotic and nobody went into Arkham Knight hoping they'd be playing Twisted Metal. You even fight Deathstroke in this thing, and its awkward to think Rocksteady was outdone by the B-team in Montreal, who delivered a better, proper Deathstroke fight in Origins. It was silly that goons were "protected" from getting run over by some sort of electric shock the car gives off? Okay...? When one of the best elements of the past games- The Riddle's puzzles- have turned into glorified race tracks, you've got a problem. I'm sorry but the Bat Tank deserves all the hate it gets. But I will say some positive things about AK: I went in mostly blind, so a lot of the side quest villains like Professor Pyg and Man Bat were complete surprises and I loved that. The bonus stuff, like wearing the Batman 89 costume was pretty cool too.

But rocksteady's third entry introduced a set of problems ,
1. The bat tank - although a nice addition it was over used to the point that it is indeed repetitive especially the rising amount of tanks we have to destroy for like 20 plus mine missions 🤦🏻♂️ and chase firefly with the batmobile every single time to get a cutscene etc
3. Too much copy paste side mission design - the game has like 20 firefighter fights 🤦🏻♂️ every fight is the same and 10 would have been the right amount ; the game takes every side mission and makes the player do it too many times just to get wayne points
Hope rocksteady doesn't make these mistakes in the future
The series wasnt really known for its boss fights. Sure it had one of the best boss fights in all of gaming with freeze, but all the rest made by rocksteady weren't really anything to shout about.
Team Killer Joker " known for spectacular boss fights " is not " known for ITS Boss fights " ; sorry mate this ain't an argument, because I never said anything about ALL OF GAMING , or about known only for its boss fights 😅
SPECTACULAR- beautiful in a dramatic eye catching way
Dr. SIVA VIGNESH It really was known to have great bossfights... Mr Freeze is often considered the one of the best boss fights in gaming.
Amazing how this still looks better than the spiderman ps5 trailers
rain can make look anything better...just look at gta 5 graphics in rain...it looks better then arkham knight
@@doctorkratos nah its also the models
@@nhkk2893 well If u are talking about character model...rdr 2 and last of us 2 does that waayy better
@@doctorkratos considering this game is 5 year old it still hold up to current gen games
I think this game had the best stealth out of all the Arkham games, the predator takedowns were absolutely awesome
No it's too much of a chore to get the full ending trying to complete all the Riddler challenges is a pain in the ass.
agreed....i got catwoman free from riddler but didn't finish the riddler boss fight.
apart from that i completed all the side missions
@@rishavkumar20193 ya I am stuck on the final exam part
I’m just glad EA won’t end up buying the series. I don’t wanna pay $10 for every gadget batman has
$14.99 for one Batarang.
Once you really get with the batmobile mechanics you will really enjoy the game.
The opening twenty minutes is better then most of the movies 🤣
The story was ok, and the bat mobile almost ruined the game/pacing for me, but the rest was damn near perfect. Make the bat mobile optional next time and it’s a 10/10!
PC port buggy as hell.. i gave up on it...
I liked the batmobile combat but i did hate that the 2 big bosses were batmobile battles
After i did the scarecrow mission i stopped playing the game and got rid of it i don't have Arkham knight anymore and i don't plan on playing it again
Hands down Arkham Origins have the best boss fights. Arkham Knight trash boss fights, way too much use of the batmobile, should've added the bike and jet to use.
The controls in these games were brutal
That was mostly the third batman nolan movie but as a game.
Thank god I've enjoyed Batman Arkham Asylum and city in very high ultra graphics. Origins at very low. We'll Arkham knight is a dream game for my pc. I hope in the future.
This is still one hell of a game. It's just the least great in the trilogy.
^
Totally agree with you
Best combat, best stealth, graphics that look better than a lot of games nowadays, much bigger, better and easier to navigate open world, best voice acting, and most unique and bold story (it is debatable whether it is actually the best story, most people would say it isn't, but it's by far the ballsiest one, willing to explore Batman's fears and psyche).
@@magnumdong8437 For. Sure.
All 3 batman games are epic
This game gets a lot of hate but I loved it the story wasn’t as good but people act like it was terrible outside of Arkham knight twist that everyone saw coming and the Barbra thing that was also obvious it was a satisfying conclusion which is something we rarely get anymore
Rocksteady set the bar for batman games so high that even they wouldn’t be able to out do themselves
1. Origins
2. Asylum
3. City
4. Knight
This is my favourite from the Arkham series amazing game
I honestly didn’t have a problem with the batmobile.
Yea, it was awesome fighting boss battles in a tank... in a Batman game...the true spirit of Batman
It was just amazing this video reminded me of this game again 😍🎉🔥
Just waiting for the next part
If they had used the Batmobile less and had more actual boss fights this probably would’ve been the best Batman game. The combat and graphics were amazing, and it was awesome going around Gotham as Batman. Arkham City remains my favorite but I still love Arkham Knight despite some flaws.
Graphics . Story. Gameplay. Triple threat... polish games like this is superb.
Arkham City was defo my favourite. The twist with Joker/clayface & how Ra’s Al Ghul had been controlling Hugo Strange was great
The batmobile was really disliked.
DC FanDome will most likely announce the new Batman game from Warner bros Montreal as rocksteady finally announced there suicide squad game
One of my best game (franchise) of the decade
The only story flaw was the slow pacing during some areas. Other than that, it was perfectly written
for me it was the best game in the arkham franchise.....(infact, one of the best games i ever played). If not for batmobile gameplay.....the game would have been closer to arkham city & origins....
batmobile is what gives this games its own identity.....if there were no batmobile boss fights....people would have complained about too less batmobile.
I just love this game.
Combat literally holds this game together.
no shit
Great game. I've played it loads of times.
Also the music was amazing in this game.
The boss fights were the best. Oh and the bat-mobile sections, couldn’t get enough of THOSE.
Ughhhh, we get it already.
You must be trolling
I never played the arkham games (last batman game i played was on sega mega ddive as a kid). So what would best platform ps4 or pc? Id prefer pc but heard pc had some issues. Are they fixed or is ps4 the way to go?
Loved Asylum and City. Thought they were immense but just can’t for the life of me get into this one 🤔. Tried several times.
@@avikellerman4539the general concensus still rank it above origins tho
Played all of the arkham games growing up, having the itch in me to purchase a remastered batman game in 2021. Leaning towards arkham knight sense it's the most recent game & has a bunch of DLC stories & skins. The premium edition is on the playstation store for 10$ so I see it as a steal. Huge batman fan and miss playing all the old arkham games. Gonna give it a shot and buy arkham knight
I’m one of the small minority who actually likes Arkham Origins the most
Had it been better in execution I think it would've been really good
Great video, I love this game!
Batmobile was fun as heck.. people were just expecting old formula but with new pain over it. Arkham knight innovated the fucking batmobile and improved upon all aspects. but this MFs wanted just old things, just look at far cry or say assassins creed. That's what Arkham games could have become if rocksteady didn't have balls to innovate.
I have HUGE respect for rocksteady and this entry is just MASTERPIECE!! I can talk hours and hours about what I like and still many will be left.
I cherish this masterpiece game.
why did peole hate the batmobile fights? it's the ONE game I played that actually facilitates dodging instead of tanking and shooting
it's story is the favorite of the arkham games
It was definitely a fun game. I would also recommend the DLC A Matter Of Family.
Great game, but preferred the riddles on Arkham City. The next game needs to have a functioning batcave and maybe the mansion and make them functional. It would also be great if the next game was larger map and has the batwing that you can use.
The one thing I liked about batman arkham knight not so many riddler trophies
It's the most non-sensical repetitive Arkham game. City and asylum was superior on every level except combat.
Its better than Origins Not as good as City, and completely different from Asylum~ as they all were.
Nonetheless Fantastic Series 👏
I remember when it came out. Everyone was bitching about the story being lame, joker being overused (Which I agree with, but thankfully the whole shattered psyche arc was great, enforces the humanity of wayne) the ending being locked behind the 100% wall, the batmobile hoard fights and stealth, and
the open world being overly pointless due it being empty.
Fantastic game on many levels but it did use the batmobile a tad too much which was a shame
Was told to play this before Gotham Knights 🤷🏻♂️❤️
I pre-ordered the game.
I am just now betting to play it. It seems to be pretty good but it has tons of graphical issues.
I wish I vould have played it 5 years ago when it was released. (They changed the PC specs 24 hours before the release date.)
Personally I am more of a fan of both Arkham asylum and Arkham city but i do agree Arkham knight is still a good game at least in my opinion
Arkham knight is one of my favourite open world game....it is the best Arkham game by a mile.
Im playing it right now it's awesome
I hope they make a Superman Metropolis Night next.
You can’t be this stupid
I beat the game but it was pretty boring the whole time. I feel like you had to be a huge Batman fan to really like it.
I was just looking at my rack of games and saw this and realized I haven’t touched it since I got it in 2017 😂😂 so I’m playing it now
This game is so awesome
Arkham City and Arkham asylum are the only Batman games to me that were actually worth it
Batman Arkham Knight was a great game, if only the boss fights would had been more close up cinematic it would had been perfect.
There is no boss fights
Amazing video
