You can do infinitely different crazy stuff with items and team composition. I spent over 4 hours just on crafting good synergy. My favorite disfunctional team is magic Bruno With Gladiator, Witch and Cleric. I will not explain further because this was one hell of a disappointment.
An alt to the first team is two gladiators and lex with sanguine. Make gladiators hp and attack/defense focused and have them hold the vitality necklace. Lex is in cause he can heal with sanguine, cut damage from archers, cut support arrow attacks, can switch to runic blade for armors and works well when you get a fourth spot for a healer. Team will do good aoe, and has high survivability, and can be built as early as brunos chapter

I really wish renown carried over. I think having to unlock all your squad slots is the most frustrating thing on multiple runs. I don't mind leveling up again, especially since you can experiment with growths. And I don't mind having to recruit everyone again. But those locked squad slots after you have been spoiled with 4/5 slots is annoying. Moreso because I have found no quick way to grind them back up again. If I knew who to reach out to, I would gather a petition and ask for a NG feature that carried JUST unlocked squad slots over.
I didn't realize that having 0 active skills with conditions passed means a unit "passes" their turn. What happens if Alain is still at full HP when his turn comes around a second time? Will he still attack? Or would he pass that and just not do anything that battle?
You should throw some "lowest hp" tactics on... probably all attacks, but specifically something like lean edge so that your odds of killing to get the full 50% healing go up.
Sucks that game comes out on friday, I like to order my game to my house- but that bsically means that its very likely it wont arrive on friday. My store refuses to break street dates, DHL got my ff7 rebirth package on Tuesday, and was instructed to ship it on Thursday. Sure, I get why they keep street dates, doesnt wanna get in trouble, but thats why a "thursday" release like ff7 rebirth is 100x better than a friday, as unicorn overlord has - for many of us since at worst we get the game on a friday, so we have something to play over the weekend. With that said, im in a good position, with ff7 rebirth to play meanwhile, life could have been worse ;)
I'm not a fan of that group with the gladiator. And specifically because of the wat you use your gladiator. What you're saying all sounds very nice, but he's super slow. And because he's slow, he's going to attack after the knight. So he doesn't damage enemies so the knight can kill more easily(and get more attack). Moreover, because he goes last, he's also less likely to actually hit multiple enemies. I'm pretty sure the unit is going to work regardless, but more because knight and soldier are good, than because of the gladiator. In short: if you want him to do more than just tank, you need to give him more initiative

He won't do anything that battle I think so it's a risk but powerful tool
if hes the last turn and skips then the battle ends there.

It can't target the back row if there is a front line still. So they won't counter attack ranged units a lot of the time
