Boxing Weight Cut Meals | Fight Week

  • Whats up guys finally had time to upload a video! I've been busy with school and training camp that I haven't had time to upload. Nutrition is key for a successful weight cut!
    In this video, I show you some of the meals I like to eat during this weight cut period. THIS IS TEMPORARY AND NOT SUSTAINABLE. Making weight is part of the sport even if you are against it. is it safe? NO. But it will continue to happen regardless.
    The goal of training camp besides skill and game plan development is a gradual decrease in body fat. This can be accomplished through a small calorie deficit but just enough to still feel strong during training. I am still learning and trying to figure out the best method for myself so far I have felt this has worked best. Try walking around no more than 12-13% (assuming you have a minimum of 6 weeks of training camp) above your weight class.
    During fight week there are 3 variables to manipulate in order to drop weight quickly through water without physical exhaustion.
    1) Eat low amounts of carbohydrates because they will retain water just keep in mind high intensity activity utilizes carbohydrates so you cannot be training intently during this time
    2) Eat low sodium because it retains water, Sodium is essential and needed for proper muscular contraction, hydration, and many other cellular process beyond my knowledge at the moment but I know its important lol
    3) Eat low fiber. Assuming you're eating a moderate amount of fiber, fiber will hold on to water and food content in your gut. During training camp eat lots of fiber to help with satiety, digestion, and health but during weight cut week cut the fiber to empty the GI tract.
    Follow these three tips to aid in your weight loss during a boxing or MMA competition but keep in mind THIS IS TEMPORARY and you won't feel the greatest during this week.

    That diet is exactly how my 74 year old mother lost 60 pounds. I eat that way during the week and have one junk day in the weekends. Excellent video!

    1st off thanks for all of the GREAT information I am still an Amateur but I do cut weight for fights... I'm entering fight week now and am water cutting last few lbs... I'm eliminating CARBS and increasing PROTEIN... But How much sodium would you say is ok during this last week? Thanks again my guy😎

    Having my first fight on a short notice. I’m 89kgs and need drop down to 83kgs. I used to eat One meal a day and it helped me lose a lot of weight. But now I feel like I hit a plateau where I can’t get any lower than 89kgs even when I’m training.. It always varies between 89kg - 91kgs. So I’ll start eating like this and train 2x a day. So wish me luck! Gonna get that work in!

    Alright mate good video I box in military so this has helped a lot I have a sweet tooth and one of the biggest things I struggle with I have tried strawberry’s and cream as well as dark chocolate peppermint tea is also good as well and lemon water

      Very important video.
      This is one thing that really affects so many fighters.
      A good coach and team mates is important also. I tell my fighters they can call me anytime or message with any nerves or doubts etc.

    What’s better calorie dense foods like peanut butter or high volume low calorie foods like vegetables? If I eat more peanut butter will I weigh less because it’s not as big as vegetables?

    I’m cutting for a fight. Have to get to 176 currently on empty stomach in the morning like 184-187… I have 4 weeks to get it down to 176

    Hello El Yuyu, I got my weigh in Friday next week 10 days to be exact. I weigh around 129 at the moment and got to hit the scale at 115. You reckon its possible with water loading? Thank you for any advice.

      129 to 115 is a pretty big cut. Are you depleted at all? If you're fully topped off (glycogen, water, fiber, food content) then its likely doable but will suck. If you're already a bit depleted this will be hell! To answer you question, yes I would consider water loading!

      Sorry I forgot to note that Im topped and walks around 129ish. I haven’t done any weight cutting yet and need to only cut 15lbs in 10 days. Do I still do my normal training routine during water loading days? Thanks heaps legend.

    Bro, I'm 136. Gotta be at 132 and less in 2 weeks for my Muay Thai Fight. Thing is my knee is fucked so I can't train in the gym for now, but I still want to fight and should be okay by fight day. Can I swim, assault bike, etc instead?

      As far as losing weight exercise plays a smaller role than diet. You can completely not train your sport and still drop the weight. If you're knee is really bad I would suggest you consider postponing the fight man!

    Why should you have low fiber? I’d be under the impression you want higher fiber in your diet to digest the foid

      You don't even need fiber in your diet, it's an antinutrient. If consumed in high amounts it prevents the digestive system to fully absorb nutrients.
