  • What's up guys in this video I show you guys exactly what I eat after weighing in for a professional boxing match. Professional Boxing is a weight category sport meaning you must weigh a specific contracted amount or else risk the event being canceled. Normally there is 24-hour window post weigh ins to rehydrate and eat before competing.
I fought Sunday, April 18th at 3:45pm. Official weigh ins was around 2:30pm Saturday April 17th. My contracted weight for this bout was 138 pounds or roughly 63kg. Although I stay in the gym year round I don't focus on losing weight until camp officially starts which is about a 6 week period. Sometimes more sometimes less but the best thing to do is stay within striking distance from your weight category. About 6 weeks before this fight I was hovering 150 pounds so I started counting my calories and macros to drop the weight.
I go over all the meals I had post weigh in. My goal was to eat 450 grams of carbs from weigh in till the fight to restore the lost glycogen from the energy and carb deficit leading up to the fight. Post weigh in meals and carbs:
    Saturday April 17th
Immediately post weigh in: Water & Gatorade - 36g of Carbs
Meal 1 3:00pm: Banana, Protein Shake with milk, 2 cups of tropical fruit, plain Bagel - 120g of Carbs
Meal 2 5:00pm: 2 cuties, 10oz Chicken, Belvita cookie, Brown Rice, Veggies, Green Tea- 110g of Carbs
Meal 3 8:45pm: Pasta, Chicken, Broccoli, Salad with dressing- 40g of Carbs
Total post weigh in: ~300g (not including 80g PRE Weigh in)
    Sunday April 18th FIGHT DAY
Upon waking just coffee and water till I go NUMBER 2!
Meal 1 9:15am: Oatmeal, Blueberries, Strawberries, Whey Protein- 80g of Carbs
Meal 2 11:45am: Plain Bagel, Eggs, Sausage patty, 1/2 Avocado- 65g of Carbs
Leading up to the fight I just sipped on some gatorade and water
That's pretty much all I ate after weigh ins. Again, my appetite is not high because of the lack of calories and weight reduction but I also did not want to over eat. TRUST ME. I have over ate before after weighing in and I HATE IT. You feel uncomfortable and sluggish and you remain in a thirsty state but you can't drink water because you just keep getting fuller and fuller. So I've learned to manage that and control my temporary cravings. After the fight you can enjoy whatever foods you want as mentioned after the fight I had cookies, cake, peanut butter, bunch of chicken, carne asada, ribs, tortillas, muffins you name it! I had my splurge now its back to watching my food to optimize performance and recovery.

This is great. As a small guy trying to really gain weight and muscle for my boxing this is actually really helping me just because your meals are just more realistically achievable than a lot of other meals I have seen so thank you the oatmeal in the morning with berries and whey and milk is pretty intense and I went from about 130 to 133 in a week and feeling pretty good to be honest!

    • @ElYuyuBoxing

Thats awesome glad to hear! If you're having difficulty gaining weight try adding a few more easy calories in your meals maybe a tablespoon of olive oil with your lunch and dinner. Look for foods that don't fill you up as quickly and snack on them throughout the day. If you want to gain weight you must eat more calories than you expend in a day over a period of time!

Hey bro, always a great content. Congrats on getting the W. Quick question. Do you think it’s possible for me to drop down from 171lbs to 147lbs? I’m currently fighting as a middleweight and always fighting taller and leaner guys. My last fight was against a 6’2” guy and I’m only 5’7” so I am at a huge disadvantage. What tips would you give saying my normal walking weight is at 170lbs and how to lose the excess weight. Thanks fam.

This is a fascinating subject and I happened to wonder about it recently, so thanks. On a separate note, have you ever seen the channel of Gabriel Varga the kickboxer? I only ask because you're so similar in so many ways (I'm not saying you stole his format lol) he's very analytical like you, you're both really good articulate presenters and give really similar insights into what the actual job of being a fighter involves. Oh, and you both come across as really good dudes who love their sport 👍check him out if you havent seen his channel, he's got an old head for the game of fighting, kickboxing isn't really my thing but a lot of what he says can be cross-purposed

What are some meals or food you should eat when trying to lose weight , it seems like I keep working out and I stay the same weight . I blame the way I eat but I just honestly don’t know what to eat .

    • @ElYuyuBoxing
      @ElYuyuBoxing  3 года назад +1

If you are working out and still not losing weight then it is a nutrition issue. Best way to know is by measuring how much food you're actually eating and just because something may seem "healthy" there can be a lot of calories you may not take into consideration.
