Hello Friends!
I wanted to give you some exciting news about some fun new projects that I am working on in 2021 and talk through what I got done in 2020. I was feeling kind of "meh" about my level of productivity in 2020 until I actually went through all of the things that I did and made last year, and I surprised myself with the wide variety of projects that actually got completed! Anyway, please enjoy My 2021 Plans and a Recap of 2020!
This historical Disney Cosplay is Merida and I will be doing it in conjunction with a bunch of my friends, who all wanted to do some cool Disney costumes together and see how they would turn out. We all decided to update our princess or villain of choice to our favorite eras, for the most part. If you have a historical Disney Costume, I would absolutely love to see it and post about it, so feel free to send it on over to me!
If you'd like to see more Historical Disney Princesses and Villains, you can check out my pals channels and they will be updating soon with theirs as well!

Whoa missus! You've forgotten a couple of teensy, ahem massive projects you've done last year. The huuuuuge Cocovid weekend which was a real boost during the otherwise drudge of an indoor summer (here in the UK it's short enough anyway), and the wonderful 20 question series you've done with other craftspeople. I've loved both of these so much Noelle, and am so grateful for all the hard work you've put into making them happen. I was already one of your followers but your generosity in this has given me more channels to subscribe to. This time last year I was planning my own channel and hopefully this time next year that might even be a thing. Thanks again lovely xxx
@ Claire. Whoa yourself. Noelle mentioned both CoCoVid and 20 questions. But she kinda glossed over them. So it is good that you mentioned them both. CoCoVid especially required a massive effort and a very organized mind set.
And, one channel does lead to another. Virginia
Yeah she really needs a much bigger pat on the back for CoCoVid!!! It was amazing!! I would love to do it again but I also hope that we don’t need too!
Came down to the comments to say exactly this... Cocovid was a huge deal and she barely mentioned it.
Aww thank you!! 💖💖💖
I'm excited to see how the Hamilton spencer looks on a not tiny person. Sewstine's pink one is amazing, but she and Bernadette are so wee lol. 2021 is already better than 2020 because I'm catching up on The Expanse and this season is awesome!
Same on the Spencer! im glad to see that they expanded the sizes and i am very ready for this.
The Hogwart's Express dress took only 4 months to make! It's AWESOME and COMPLETELY worth however long it took!
💖💖
I love all of the 20 questions! It shows a different side to people, it's a lot more relaxed and casual.
I do too, getting to meet new folks is awesome and I appreciate your silly fun interviewing style.
I really like those too 🙂
Yess!!! Victorian Merida PLEASE!! That would be so epic 😆
I'm excited for you to get sewing again because I'm excited for you to geek out about your new sewing machine!
Ditto! I saw it sitting back there & am anxious to see all the thing's about it!!
YES! Merida doesn't get the attention she deserves. Of course, I might be bias since I have her same curl.
I’m super jelly!!
@@Costuming_Drama lol don't be. I work hard to flat iron it. Lol. The color runs in my family too. I was strawberry as a child, but now it's brunette. Though. It WILL sun bleach to red highlights. I'll have to post a unstyled photo.
I'm going to finally graduate this spring as a cello teacher(a year late 😑). Also brush up my Swedish so I'll be able also teach in it if there is a need (Finland is a bilingual country). I would like to finish the other woolen sock i started in 2018 🙃. Also would like to learn to sew better. But first let's fovus on my bachelor's thesis and other school stuff...
Congrats on your upcoming graduation!
Yay light at the end of the tunnel for both of us... I am also finishing my degree this semester and it's a long time coming... can't wait to have way more time to sew 😍 keep up the good work and good luck on Swedish! Awesome goals!
Hi!
I`m a Swedish person living in Switzerland with a lot of spare time this year. If you want to I would love to help you with your Swedish. No cost or anything, just "a friend of Noel is a friend of mine" sort of a thing. Just let me know if I can help.
Varma hälsningar

Yaaay!! 🎉🎉 congrats on your coming graduation!!
I never introduced myself. I live in Fontana, CA, near San Bernardino, so when you talk about heat, I get you! I recently started sewing again after quite a long time of not sewing due to back and hand problems. I started watching Bernadette's videos, then I found Lady Rebecca, and Abby Cox, then I found your videos. All of the videos reawakened my desire to sew. I had projects sitting that I had bought fabric but never did anything with them. I dug them out of my bookcase and started working on one. I work until my back hurts, or my hands don't want to work anymore, and then I stop for the day. I just finished the sewing on a laptop bag, except for fasteners. I will be restarting my Christmas tree skirt that I had to stop because I needed trim, and I had to figure out some fabric issues.
I don't read much fiction, except for fanfiction (don't judge me). I am currently reading "Experiencing God" by Richard and Henry Blackaby. I don't listen to audiobooks because I don't multitask well. I would rather listen to music or whatever my husband's watching in the other part of the house. That's a little about me.
currently in an online class to prepare for a job change..I am quitting trucking for medical reasons. I will trully miss being in a truck, as it was the love of my life job. also trying to work through the depression of having to quit..and trying to come to terms with my situation..Noell I am glad you had a good 2020. I see you doing great things.
Ooh, yes, Merida bustle gown! I'm super excited to see you make that.
Also, it makes me really hopeful that you started out 2020 with 9k followers, because that's where I'm at right now. Maybe I'll reach 26k by this time next year? :)
I enjoy your videos very much! :) I am sure your channel will grow!
You are one of my favourites for sure. Anyone who is a fan of Noelle will surely enjoy your videos too. Subscribe everyone!
@@lauramcguire7970 thank you! :)
@@ElleY1888 thank you! :)
Maybe you will do even better than that!! 💖
No goals, just day by day. Slowly finishing a quilt. The top is by machine, but I'm doing the quilting by hand. This is my fourth full sized quilt in a little over 2 years (among every other project, of course). Keeping track via pictures reminds you how far you've come.
Hey! I can say, I am an introvert trapped at home (as a lot of us are) and love that I can watch your vlog and feel inspired every time I watch. I feel like I am listening to a friend who talks and never expects a response, but is talking about the things I'm into!! LOL! It's nice. I can say your audience loves you since you've picked up so many subscribers and I can say for myself at least, I appreciate you and your attitude and it makes me feel not so alone. Great job and keep it up!
Love the twenty questions!!
I'm not really sitting any goals this year. I just want to be a better friend this year. I'm rereading all the Disc World books and enjoying them all over again.
they are such a comfort right? never fail to improve my outlook, even if STP was gone too soon
@@sparklinggrey3 right now, they are such a comfort. So much wit and wisdom.
@@jackiejames4551 Which one are you on at the moment?
@@sparklinggrey3 I'm reading Raising Steam. Im reading them in order, the only one I've skipped is Maurice and his Amazing talking Rats. I didn't like it the first, so I'm not interested in reading it again. So far, my favorite is Monstrous Regiment. What's yours?
@@jackiejames4551 Raising steam is a good one although not as iconic as some of the earlier Watch ones IMO. Hard to pick a favourite- but Night watch was one of the first I ever read and I still enjoy it. Lords and ladies is probably my favourite from the OG witches and maybe Reaper Man from the Death line... there are too many really
I usually have very strict goals/resolutions but this year decided to do more nebulous goals. For sewing, I'm working on upping my skills and focusing on finishing it nicely instead of coming screeching into the deadline with a piece finished at the very last minute with a bunch of corners cut so that I *could* finish. I'm also working on learning to to pattern draft because I'm tired of having to alter every single pattern every time I make something.
Current project: Wearable mock up of a 1940s house dress/robe, the final fabric will be a commission for a friend out of much fancier fabric.
Currently listening/watching: CR (I'm so close to caught up.)
Currently reading: The Morganville Vampires Series by Rachel Caine. (YA romance/thriller, great for a fun read.)
"On the note of infinite gratitude" I am eternally thankful for you. I'm embarrassed to admit, listening to you talk calms me and has gotten me through countless panic attacks this past year. Thank you for helping me, it means more than you know that you're here just being you.
Never ending projects that I'm slowly chipping away at are decluttering, crocheting along with the daily chores of cooking and cleaning keeps me busy. I'm always dreaming of things I'd like to sew but I haven't made time for that yet. I have a lot of clothing that I don't wear and I feel guilty making more at this time. We'll see if that changes in the next year LOL
Sending endless well wishes to everyone. Take care of you and stay safe!
I've been in a funk with my sewing the last month since having eye surgery, which means I need to sew with a magnifier and even then it's still blurry. But today I decided that the joy I get from sewing is too important and it doesn't matter how slow or imperfect I am, I just need to get in there and sew! So far I've only ironed and started cutting out a pattern, but I already feel so much happier within myself. So I think my goal for 2021 is just to sew regularly, not to produce a certain number of garments.
Also, thank you for your videos, particularly the 20 questions! I really enjoy sewing with you (at least, that's what sewing with your blogs feels like to me) and the 20 questions series has introduced me to lots of other interesting people I didn't know and now follow.
That's why I love Instagram! I use it like a gratitude journal of sorts...only posting when it's something I want/need to remember...and I periodically look back for reminders.
First time commenter here, love what you do and how you lift others up!
Hello and welcome to the comments!! And thank you!! 💖💖
BLACKWASH TARTAN MERIDA BUSTLE DRESS?!?!?! This totally needs to happen.
CoCovid was a huge project and a great success; you have accomplished a tremendous amount in 2020. Thank you for all of your entertaining videos.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm thoroughly enjoying your 20 questions videos. 👍
I’m so glad!!
I love the 20 Questions with videos, I always click them so fast! Your recap of 2020 was amazing, you created so many beautiful things! And of course CoCoVid was my most favorite thing ever! It was just such a great fun and really lifted my 2020 to an overall win year! Also thank you so much for the uplifting words, this community is so lovely! My goals for 2021 are pretty vague but I would like to work on my wardrobe (especially some cycling bloomers) and just create very practical items I could wear all the time. And I would like to continue my goal that I had for 2020, which was inspired by a slight rant written back in the 1960s about the vanishing of thank you notes and stuff like that, so I thought my resolution could be that whenever people do something I really enjoyed or something amazing in general, I would go and tell them that they did an awesome job. And I'm pretty shy so this was kind of a big thing for me, but I was just frustrated that it seemed more natural to me (and to people in general?) to write a letter of complaint than to tell people that they are amazing. And I really tried to do that, I wrote "thank you e-mails" to tv channels after they showed some of my favorite movies and I started to comment regularly on YT and stuff like that (pretty online-centric I know, but after all it was 2020 haha). And the reactions were always very kind and the whole thing made me a lot less stressed about talking to people. That was a long and complicated way to say that I'm keeping the resolution from 2020 for 2021 too!
I hope you mock up turned out good and did not give you any trouble!
I totally get that "I feel like I didn't do anything until I'm forced to look back on what I've done/make a list." I felt like that for my writing but was tagged in a "writing round up" thing and realized I'd written over 200k words this year! Sometimes you just need that look back to realize how much you've really done. Can't wait to see what you do this coming year!
Wow!! That’s a great achievement!!
@@Costuming_Drama Ahhh! You responded! Thank you haha! You're such an inspiration to watch!
I would like to start with a heartfelt thank you.. your trip vlogs of 2019 got me through a very rough time with my health. This past year when I was still feeling, I will admit, very frightened with not getting to have my tests for cancer checks done, your videos and all the work you put into all your other projects was like sunshine in my days. I can never truly thank you enough.. and nope I do not know you but still very much appreciate you (Finally got my "6th month"CT and still cancer free!)
🙌🏻🙌🏻 HELL YES CANCER FREE! 💖💖
I've been a home sewist for a long time (around 40 years) but watching you, Bernadette, Marika and all the other Costubers has really inspired me to get back into sewing more. I was able to complete around 15 projects for myself and my family which is a huge increase for me as I usually only manage to make 1 or 2 things a year. Thank you so much for everything. I'm currently re-reading The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson so I can read the new book that was just released.
I don’t set goals or do resolutions. I usually have an idea of what I will be doing for my family and a few ideas of what I want to do creatively. This year is different...in sooooo many ways. My youngest graduated from high school and is in college, so no daily kid rodeo. We purchased a home out of state and are in limbo with the move. I didn’t think this apocalypse thing would last so long so am not really looking to become employed out in the world liked I’d planned. I am getting TESOL certified...weird out of left field for me...so I will have something to do since my current position of full time parent has ended. I am built for this isolation thing but it is wearing on me. I think when we move I might share daily life in a simple quiet way her on the tube. Spinning on the dock in the morning, setting up my raised self watering garden, stitching in my window filled sewing room in the afternoon...who knows. I have become a little dependent on the community built by channels I have followed in the before times as a grounding or relief from the monotony of isolation. Anytime someone posts it is like having human interaction with friends. I have a wide group of friends Sawmill guy in Tennessee, fibery friends, true crime friends they all keep me sane. A few days ago one of them realized they were kind of a life line after suffering the truth of their own physical aloneness. I love that we can all be there for each other even when we aren’t in the same place on this earth. So hoping that 2021 finds us freer to roam, to interact, and find ways to be kind to each other. 🌈🌈🦋🦋♥️
I needed to be described as “magical” today. Even divided by 26,500 it still feels special.
Looking forward to following all the upcoming projects. Especially the small stuff! Smaller projects are so important sometimes to create that feeling of productivity and easier to join in on.
I have put away my silk dress because I am loosing a lot of weight after being diagnosed diabetic and picking up some more simple projects.
I’m getting ready to volunteer at our local living history museum (pioneer farm) so need some work wear covering from 1830s-1899 depending on where I am. Starting with 1890s because that’s where I’m starting.
Today’s blog was the absolute perfect length to get me from my house to the fabric store!
I was listening to this video and working on a t-shirt blanket until a floof Kitty jumped into my lap. Blanket forgotten, but your video about compassionate goals very much appreciated
Instead of goals, I make a shortlist of projects I want to work on and books I want to read. I don't 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 to make them, but whenever I want to start something new I first look at the list to decide if I want to work on one of those items. Some of them are 'new shiny things' I probably would work on anyway, but I make sure to also put a few things on there that have been in my favourites for a long time but I keep putting off. I find it helps me to have a starting point, but without the pressure of 'these are the things I want to finish in 2021'.
Thanks for the pep talk. Needed that today. Goal #1 is make like a lama and find my groove. Everything else will hopefully follow.
I'm so excited for the Hamilton Spencer, I got both versions so I can make it for myself and then I'm creating a homeschool course for my almost 12 year old to teach her to sew, the final project being the Spencer.
Thank you for your content/creativity/compassionate goals! I’ve watched every video you’ve made and I don’t think I’ve ever commented! So sorry but Thank You! I am shocked that 20 Questions isn’t more of thing, It’s one of my favorites and I love Costumers In Color. I’m a quilter that learned to sew by making clothes and costumes as a Club Kid and I watch your videos while I’m sewing. I understand why you don’t get into quilting much...I feel the same about apparel and Historical Costuming.... You and all of the others have a different type of patience that I have lost with age! You made 2020 bearable. CoCoVid was Great!!!! Thanks again!
It always, without fail, makes me so happy to see your smiling face on each video you post, no matter the content. I love all that you do -- 20 questions, sewing, organizational, books, patterns, shopping, Christmas Mickey ears!, etc. You opened up a whole new world to me last year and I don't know how I would have fared without you! Keep up the great work, Noelle, and know you are loved by this audience!
I feel the same about Regency! But I think a part of my personal problem with it is that my old regency stays didn't fit the way I wanted so now that I just finished new ones with that fixed so now I need to make a dress and see if I can finally get it to look the way I want on me.
Hamilton spencer -- exactly the same. Printed it all up, going to make it, but not right now. Personally, every year that I have set any sort of goal, it has been a fantastically crap year. So this year, I'm going to act like this all depends on me, and NOT make any goals at all. I am in the removal stage of straightening my sewing room -- anything that is not where it should be and is cluttering up the place has been removed. Then, one at a time, individual things get straightened out and brought back in and are put where they belong. I feel better with this method, more in control. Stay well.
The Jane Austen Centre do pattern sets that enable you to make a complete outfit/wardrobe.
Ive been experimenting with dyeing my fabric using things I already have, such as dried rose petals, tea, out of date balsamic vinegar, herbs, weeds off my balcony! Made a blouse with the result. Cant make up my mind whether the fabric looks a disgusting mess,or fantastically unique. Its certainly "interesting"!
Hello! I love "all the little things." I want to watch you do all the work so I can just enjoy it without working at all. :)
Same!
At the start of 2020, I was suffering from some extreme decision fatigue, so I skipped setting goals.
This year, I'm trying to follow through on completing few older WIPs. I've already finished a blanket I started crocheting in 2017, and another I started in 2018. I'm currently knitting one I started two or three years ago for my mom.
I also have a couple of new projects going for friends having babies soon.
I'm really appreciating my yarn projects right now. I'm in hour 17 without power due to a winter storm that hit last night.
I've started a bunch of new projects, and I've listed my creative goals for 2021 (but I'm also well aware that I'm not likely to finish them, and that's okay!)
I actually managed to do most of my projects and reach most of my goals of 2020, which I'm proud of myself for
You also reminded us to be kind to ourselves last year and set compassionate deadlines, a very important acomplishment to many of us. 😊❤️
Not only did you make things ... Along with that you shared your understandings. conversations with us about cultures and other coco-vid activities. Thank you for that, I enjoyed that too.
Lastly the hot dog vs sandwitch survey .🌭
The regency bonnet saga 💗
No plan for this year outside of tackling the Tower of Unfinished Projects, and maybe putting some them on RUclips. As far as reading goes, I'm in the middle of Frances Grimble's Reconstruction Era Fashion, because with everything going on lately, I feel it is of the utmost importance to know if Marie-Antoinette bonnets were still in to wear at the watering places in summer 1868.
I am also most excited for that special day in a few days! I also happen to be signed up to be getting my first vaccination shot that morning, so I'm feeling hopeful.
I generally don't do resolutions - this year in particular though I'm just looking to make it to a point where the world eases up. I'm an IT person that works for a K-12 public school and I can't tell you how much stress there is on me and my coworkers to keep remote learning up and running. Given what I do, I have been working right along since my state closed schools due to COVID and I am so glad I'm making a difference but at the same time I'm soooooo tired.
On a lighter note, I'm on a crochet binge until further notice and I am very much enjoying it
I love the 20 Questions videos. When you ask the questions of the costumers, I answer them all in my head. Maybe someday I will get to answer them on video.
But, dearest Noelle if you had only done one of all that it would be great....loved the bonnet reminder...on it with the bonnet. Bring it on for '21!!!...and now am going back to binge watching Detectorists....for about the zillionth time.
I LOVE the 20 Questions videos! They never fail to make me laugh and I’ve found so many new people to appreciate! I accomplished very little on the “making” side of things, but I kept my sanity, found some new medications in late December to help with my chronic illnesses, and am getting a little better every day!
My compassionate goals for 2021 are to be able to regularly manicure my nails and/or do my acrylic nails again, and to work on my knitting and tatting stamina. I have some Victorian era lace patterns calling my name! Mostly, though, I’m just enjoying the time I have to spend with my husband and my son, before he grows up completely. Oh, and I’ll continue to watch a lot of historical costuming and cosplay related RUclips videos!
Be well, dear Noelle, and I can’t wait to see what 2021 brings!
Thank you for sharing your 2020 with all of us. Cocovid was an amazing project that introduced me and so many others to the wonders of costume college and a great collection of costubers. If that had been your only project, it would still have been a great achievement in my humble opinion. ❤
Lets hope 2021 is a safer, saner year. I'm counting the days till the inauguration.
I have moved to a new state (Oregon) from western Washington. I’m looking forward to getting my work space in my new home set up and start sewing again after a 5 month break due to family issues.
I enjoy your output but most of all I love this kind of video, relaxed and chatty. I can imagine you sitting opposite me at my kitchen table while I work at my new interest of English Paper piecing. I also like watching you figure out sewing issues. I really enjoyed watching you sort out the piping for the Hogwarts Express. I look forward to seeing whatever you choose to put out in 2021.
I love all your videos! Especially the 20 questions with...
I hope all your plans for 2021 are achieved spectacularly ❤️❤️❤️ and cannot wait to see.
I have NEVER liked journaling, but I did get a nice little notebook in my stocking and each day I am writing down "the thing" I've done. It has made me feel good so far and motivated, even if "the thing" is something like cleaning the tub. My goal for 2021 is an 18th ensemble inspired by The Expanse. 75% of my sourcing is done, now I need to figure out some drafting and draping. I've never done that before, but I am just going to do it.
Heck yeah! Just do the thing!!
1. Love the 20 questions episodes.
2. My goal this year is to stop avoiding the projects in my house that I already have in all supplies for. I have a few blouses and a few sundresses and a coat to make.
3. Thanks for all your inspiring videos this year.
Yeas Victorian black-watch plaid Merida!!! 💚 She’s one of my favs bc her personality and relationship with her mom reminds me so much of young me and my Mimi (who raised me after my mom/her daughter died when I was 15). I am totally down with some Merida representation!! Thanks for all your awesome work in 2020 and here’s to a better 2021 for us all! 💚
Oh and my first goal is finishing my first garment and entering the Foundations Revealed contest (eeek!)
2021 ‘goals’, I’m working on amping up my Etsy Shop, making my daughter’s wedding dress, and not letting my anxiety keep me from doing either of those things well. I just finished reading The Midnight Library and am not sure which of the other 3 books I’ve bought that I’m going to read next...stay tuned...
2020 was sad for my community theatre involvement. I went from acting in and/or costuming 8 shows in 2019 to acting in one show at the start of 2020 and that was it. I’m really excited to have been given the opportunity to costume a distanced production of The Dolls of New Albion right at the start of this year. Here’s to grand plans and new projects in 2021!
Oh I hope it goes swimmingly!
I don't like to set resolutions and only set VERY loose goals because my mental illness can derail my entire life for months at a time. I'm not very gentle with myself when that happens, so seeing a goal sinking right before my eyes just makes it worse. So, my very loose goals are to perform some new repertoire in concert (hopefully Desdemona from Verdi's Otello), make my violin vibrato less saggy, finish my first violin concerto, and start busting my fabric stash into staple wardrobe pieces or good learning experiences. The main goal is survival, since my mental illness made that very touch-and-go last year.
Still working on my quilt. It's been stop and go and I kind of lost motivation after I got the top done, but now I've saved TWO 20 questions videos that will hopefully get me through cutting binding so I can see if I need to piece it and then I can piece the back and then I can quilt and bind it and be done! After that, I plan on sewing clothes for daily wear. I don't make resolutions but I do like to ask myself reflective questions- what can I do to be kinder, how can I better support causes I believe in, etc... I've also pledged to myself to spend an hour a week minimum on antiracism work
Oh that’s wonderful!
I had the same thinking I didn't do much until i sat down and wrote it all out and filled a whole page!
Goals for 2021 are to focus on getting some top patterns that fit me really well and making a bunch of mock ups and wearable tops! Then finishing projects that are started and not finished didn't think I had too many but theta are a few.
I try to set goals, but don’t have deadlines (except the Foundations Revealed contest!)... this year, however, I’m creating a timeline (-ish) since I finally started a RUclips channel last year. Noelle- you and everyone else who’s a “costuber” have been such an inspiration to so many people. I really don’t think I could have mentally managed last year without this community! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m listening to Beowulf: A New Translation by Maria Dahvana Headley, which is a really incredible translation of the old English text. It uses bro liberally, and mixes the archaic with more modern speech in this really amazing way.
I’ve also been watching the 20 questions with and keeping up with the lovely videos put out by Costube, as well as The Chateau Diaries and Grandma Shirley’s Skyrim games
I’m also finishing a modern half circle skirt, then making a jewelry case and from there will probably start on a chemise and a boned bodice. I do hand sewing, despite getting a sewing machine for Christmas, as I have no where to put it at the moment.
I make a list at the beginning of each year of outfits I want to make. This year I added 3 for my husband, a full regency wardrobe, a Halloween traveling costume. We were on the road this last year and may be again this year. I have several Edwardian tops and a special Edwardian dress that I have to figure out how the sleeves were made and make up a pattern for them. I am in my sewing room 6 to 8 hrs a day, so I try to spend my time working on outfits.
I'm almost finished with Charmander. Final touches 🎉
Very long-time lurker here... I just submitted my PhD thesis and dang after 4 years on hiatus it is time to sew! I'm also planning a hamilton spencer. I recently listened to two non-fiction books on Audible which I really liked: 'The Six Wives of Henry VIII' and 'The Life of Elizabeth I' both by Alison Weir. I didn't know anything about the tudor/elizabethan eras and I just loved both these books. I think you might enjoy them also, a timely reminder that there has always a bit of chaos (...and plague?) in society.
This year, I am planning to enter the Foundations Revealed contest! So that’s my first project goal! I keep hearing you say, “Just do the thing!” 💗💗
I hope CoCo can happen again for y’all but also, I really hope that even when it is back on, you will still do a Cocovid for those of us who cannot attend in person!
Maybe put it on during a different time of year than the in person CoCo, when both can happen, but I can’t go away for a week even without a pandemic and I absolutely loved what you all did there!
💗
Oh me three!! CoCoVid was so much fun!
Oh my gosh yes! If CoCoVid could continue in any capacity I would be ecstatic! It’s something I’ll likely never get to do in person (disability issues, time, money) so being able to learn and laugh online was magical!
Ibought myself the American Duchess 18th century dress making book, a couple of patterns of that period (because I haven't a comfortable place to draft)And 14 yards of two lovely cottons, ten of white muslin and horse hair backing for the three-tiered cape I am making to go with the Polonaise and under skirt you inspired me to attempt last year. I am watch every Progressive news program on RUclips and waiting to see if the current person on-the-go WH and his cult do anymore damage. Good luck to us all.
We missed you!! Adore 20 Questions so please keep it going. 🙂 Virtual hugs for your kind words, and excited to see your 2021 projects!!!
I’m reading (on audiobook) The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. It’s all about HeLa cells, the story behind their creation and development and also the story of the woman (Henrietta Lacks) that they come from.
That’s sounds interesting!!
I'm making my first bustle dress, including foundation layers, to fit my six year old daughter! I made my first corset! It's super cute and my daughter loves it! I went with ridgeline plastic boning and no negative ease so it doesn't pull her in of course, just wraps around her adorbs little trunk. It's just so the layers over the top sit right. I've done her chemise, as well so next up is the bustle cage! It's going to be my Foundations Revealed entry and I'm psyched!
I'm starting to read the Disc World series, which is fun, too, and as always watching Golden Girls and costube and a new favourite RUclips series Monstrum!
Yeah Merida dress!!!!! You’re so busy. Looking forward to following your journey.
Awww. Geee,,, Thanks. ... For slow and steady, you sure accomplished a lot! More than I did. And, yes, I know that's not a complete sentence. That Hogwarts outfit is phenomenal. Well done!!
This year, I have agreed to make a Czech kroj (traditional folk outfit) for a girl that will be in a pageant this spring. I've never made anything like this before, so it's going to be a learning experience! Skirt tied with drawstring, apron, peasant blouse with square gussets under the arms, and VEST - WITH BONING. Yikes!
Also, need to finish up some linen placemats, a quilt to give away for charity, another quilt I'm hand quilting for myself, and I'd like to make a couple of tunic-style blouses for myself. I don't know that I'll actually get even half of that done!
Oh... also job hunting right now!
Love your channel Noelle. Happy new year!
Good luck with job hunting! I hope you find something perfect!
I know I'm a super small fry costuber, but if CIC needs more testers, I'm a sewist and an opera singer/costumer, so am super down to build and test other patterns. Just finished my own Hamilton Spencer too! Holy crap there's so much trim!
It’s not really a tester. It’s an advertiser. The pattern is already done and available....
@@Costuming_Drama I know, but if they make any more, not sure if that's their plan.
I’m not sure, but if it comes up, I’ll let them know!
@@Costuming_Drama thank you!!!!
I will be super curious to see how the Hamilton Spencer works out for you! I love seeing your videos since you are very close to my size and build. It's so helpful to see what's possible.....I'm thisssss close to taking the plunge into some historical dresses.
So you actually did a lot, well done 👍
It's nice to see you in 2021, let's hope that this dumpster fire suffocates itself. I wanted to thank you for the lovely atmosphere you created on this channel. I usually don't like chatty videos, but you are interesting, funny and although you're not doing tutorial, I learned a thing or two sewing along with you.
This year started as a knitting year for me. I discovered several 19 century books about knitting and about to decipher some patterns! now I'm working on lacey capelet for me, kneecaps for my gf, 4th Doctor scarf for my bf(yeah, we're Like That) and also feeling nice and warm, because just a week ago I finished a flannel petticoat, which fits nicely under my modern and historical skirts! Hope I wasn't too rambley, much love! 🌹🌹🌹
Awe thank you! Much love back!!
The 20 questions series is fantastic! I so hope you keep doing it, it’s introducing so many wonderful people!
Noelle, you too are awesome. The Hogwarts Train dress is "to die for.". I feel that your posts are more than just blogs. Especially the Train dress, watching how you worked it all out was enlightening. Virginia
I too have that spencer pattern in my Etsy cart 💕 can’t wait
Me too. Good to know what it will take to print out.
@@angelmaden1559 Right 😳
I can’t tell you how much you inspire me! I have put costuming back in the forefront of my life and with all my babies grown and gone, it’s a wonderful thing to look forward to this year. Thank you!
Excited to see what you do with the hamilton spencer. I have printed off the instructions, picked fabric and filmed a bit introducing it.... cocovid was amazing. i hope it can be repeated, but realise the insane level of work it must have been. i m also totally here for your merida gown!!! Historical Disneybounding ftw!!!!
Thankyou for allowing us into your sewing room. It's always exciting to see that you have posted a new video. I am currently knitting a sweater for my new Christmas Eve granddaughter(her due date was that magical day that everyone is waiting for next week). As things sometimes do, it has gone wrong. It has ended up 50% bigger than it should be. So it's time for a rethink. Procrastinated days later, I made a cute little felt heart and included it in a long overdue pocket letter to my sister. You and all of the other very creative ladies have inspired me to keep working on my goal of creating more often... Thanks for the lovely inspiration!!
It’s ok if it’s too big! She’ll grow super fast!!
I’m so bad about setting goals and resolutions... I always have been when I have to set goals for work I struggle so much.
I set some small ones for my self though mostly centered around my last semester of school and then making payments in my loan for it. (I can’t think years in advance my head doesn’t work like that) Along with a couple of very here and now goals of drinking more water and basic things like that.
I should try and set some sewing goals but school is basically all my free time right now so those will come after I’ve finished this semester ❤️.
I appreciate you being real with us on your channel and having a way of talking about the hard facts that happen. You bring a new perspective in a way that’s compassionate and openly asking for other perspectives and we need more of that. Here’s to 2021 getting better 🥂🍻🌻 thanks for being a lovely human being.
I made a sewing Make Nine and a knitting Make Nine plan for 2021. I need a firm structure, at least to start with. I'm not limited to only those things, so it's not like I can't have a wander as inspiration hits. Looking forward to seeing all you make this year. Cheers!
I don't tend to set new year resolutions, but do try to set monthly intentions of 2‐3 obtainable goals or habits to work on a bit everyday. I also want to work through my mending pile and WIPs. My sewing WIPs aren't bad, but my knitting one is a bit daunting.
Slow and steady wins the race!
I love your 20 questions videos. As a fledgling RUclipsr, I'm learning about and getting to know other historical dressmakers.
So why is Merida a question???? Heck yeah we need to see that happening. I have been waiting SOOOOOOOO long for such a thing to exist. I am glad that the spencer is now available in larger sizes. I have also been a busy bee with projects. My goal for this year is to make and follow a pattern. Well it is going well. I followed the pattern and then sized it up correctly, now to make the garment.......oh boy. Problem is my boulders from the shoulders is nearly 2 sizes larger than my middle but I got the hips too. So I have decided doll clothes are easier to make in crochet as well. I want to surprise my daughter for her birthday with something new for her doll. Size 10 crochet thread so it will be pre-premie sized, maybe.
Thanks so much, Noelle! I love being a Magical Person as designated by you!
I have project ideas not goals. To me ideas dont ever have to be acted upon, but feel really awesome when you make them real! I also phrase things like 'I would like to have this done by...', like it done =/= has to be done and that takes a lot of pressure off.
Can't wait to see what you get up to!
I've decided to set my goal in march. I don't like january, it's cold and dark and depressing and I never feel like starting new things. So I will wait and start my year in spring :)
Fun inspiration! I have a list of sewing from 2020 that never got done. I have 2 dresses that I’ve promised myself and baby clothes that I’ve promised others. My goal is one project a month.
I do not set goals, I have enough projects either needing attention or planned that they will take more than a year as it is. I love your 20 question videos as well as watching you with all your amazing projects.
I am so excited to see all of the new projects you have coming.
I have to continue reading Land Of Painted Caves. It's part of the Earth Children Series by Jean Auel. Some people consider her books a tough read because she is so descriptive. But, I love that. I put it down a while ago because I don't want it to end. But, I think I will pick it up again and face the music. 🤷♂️😂🤣
And, yes. I am very excited about what happening in a few...but, extremely nervous as well. So, my anxiety is still at a high point. I just want it to get here and everything to be ok. Hope you're having a wonderful day. 👋🏼👋🏼😊
I just finished Shuggie Bain yesterday. It was not a fun book, I almost quit it a couple times, but I found it to be from a perspective that's not common in literature.
Also, hooray for compassionate goals.
Taking a break from my ballgown, currently making a vintage style cloak, then hat, gloves and bag to go with it, before going back to the ballgown. I doubt we'll be out of restrictions before beginning of May so it will probably get cancelled again but I want it finished just in case! Reading Michelle Obama's autobiography - very interesting - as well as some classic who dunnits! Looking forward to seeing what you get up to this year 😊🧵
I really enjoy the 20 questions videos. Your Hogwarts dress is stunning. Book group is reading Americanah and Caste. The group is called Crones' Literary Guild and we live up by Nevada City. Getting together at our local park so we can sit yards apart has been a life saver. We talked and yelled a lot about politics and could have gone crazy. We sent out postcards and did what we could think to do to bring people together. We just want they guy off of the news and he still wants to suck the air out of the room. I have enjoyed your content. I'm sure you will make more lovely things in 2021.
My list is very fluid, though I think it shouldn't be. A paper list might make things happen a little faster. I am reading Ready Player Two. I like it so far, it's not as good, but I don't think anything can live up to RP1. Currently I am finishing seams on a flannel night gown, and knitting a sweater.
I usually am not much of a goal setter, that being said I do have a goal for 2021. I've started making a 1890's walking suit including foundation layers, and by started I mean I'm working on mockup 2 of the corset. My goal is to have a wearable outfit at years end, even if that just means a skirt and shirtwaist.
I'm currently reading Agatha Cristie's "Miss Marple" series and am on "The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side".
I am currently on a sewing pause because I bought a projector for my patterns that needs to be set up. I don't generally do resolutions, I just try to keep moving forward. I'm currently listening to The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow, and it's really good so far.
YOU are awesome! You helped me get through 2020. Your videos are always a bright spot.
I always love making lists and revising them as time goes on. My "want to makes" for this year includes an 1890s walking skirt, a sewing assistant pocket, and a new red cloak for myself. Also a lot of gifts for friends to make and sew. I am soo excited for the day that is soon to come.
