- Hello Friends!
Let's get back into business with a ball gown day bodice to go with my Red Ball Gown from the Chicago ball last year! I've had a rough go this winter, but some of my sew-jo has returned and I am really excited to get back at it again and get a day bodice done for this gown. As most of you tell me to just post what I have when I have it, here's the first half of the build with the second half coming shortly!

Lovely to see you back! As a lifelong chronic illness sufferer, the best advice I was ever given was - “When you’re ill, rest but don’t do nothing and when you’re well, don’t do everything!!” I have different levels of crafts etc like knitting, colouring in, sewing etc that I can choose depending on how I am on any given day. Take care of yourself, give yourself grace and remember - rest is productive 😘😘
Have you ever wondered why no president has addressed the issue of chronic illnesses in America. This problem has been increasing since the 1970's yet none of the presidents have even said a word on it and why this has occurred. Well there is one candidate that says they are going to find out why this is so that Americans can get back to healthy. Also foods that have certain ingredients that are banned in most other countries are allowed here and they have been found to cause issues yet no one has said a thing. Also there are companies that are clearly a monopoly which there are laws against that but still no president has addressed that issue with a long with the fact that it is a low chance that the young adults will ever be able to afford to buy and own a home. Well there is one candidate that wants to address all the above mentioned issues . He wants to bring back the America that had the morals to be looked upon by the world as something to aspire to become. That is what he wants to do for us all. We can make this happen but not by fear. Frear will hold us back from being that glorious country once again. Please research all the candidates but I'm here to tell you I'm voting for RFKjr. His record speaks volumes about him and what he believes in. His polling is really good and he has a chance but not if we fear that a vote for him may get the one you really fear as president. Do do fear fear is a drawback to advancement. Let do this . We all feel something is wrong at least most do. Please look into what he says and he's been saying it for a long time, not just now that he wants elected. Thanks I truly hope you get better and overcome your ills. Blessed of it all to you and all others. We need change. Thanks
@@subliminalphishnot sure what that has to do with chronic illness to be honest.
Great advice, I'm not ill but have chronic pain issues and am finally learning to listen to my body, and embracing that rest is productive.
❤
I totally agree with everything you said. I have multiple chronic illnesses & you just have to listen to what your body tells you, If you don't, you crash ten times worse than you would've. One of the hardest parts for me is that people (even family), that don't suffer chronic illnesses can't possible understand what pushing yourself does to you. They often make me feel so guilty of not wanting to do things or be part of their lives etc. which is completely untrue. I'd dearly love to be able to attend every birthday part & holiday event, but it's just not possible. It's the thing about chronic illness that gets me down the most.
The ‘B.S’ stands for ‘Being Slay’ because that is what you are. Welcome back!
Hahahaha 💖💖💖
Tear apart and use again! Absolutely historically accurate 😂😂
I have a new project! I found a 1910 Singer hand-cranked machine in a local antique shop; she’s been sitting on my big table for a few weeks waiting for me to do all the necessary work on her before I can use her ❤
Oh wow! I really want to get one of those at some point too! Please come back and let me know how that all goes!
So glad to see you back! ❤ I’m sorry you had to deal with a toxic workplace on top of recovery. They’re soul sucking even without feeling crappy. LOVE that you’re listening to TPWKY. I just finished to the long Covid episode and it made me think of you. :) Current WIP: 1897 bicycle sweater. On my last sleeve and may need to fix the color on the front. Depends on how much yarn I have left 😂
💖💖
I'm so happy to see you back, and looking so well. I'd forgotten how awesome that bodice looks on you! I agree, I'd rather see you in the vlog sooner and hear about how you are doing. Take your time finishing things; don't overdo, and do take care of yourself!
Thank you so much! 💖
Noro is grim. I’ve got a long COVID / gastroparesis situation. I’ve taken a tip from ME/CFE folks and started practicing pacing. That is carefully planning my day to include only enough activities to make me feel productive, but not tired. Going until you’re tired can make things worse. Take good care of yourself and try to find the joy in each day. I’m glad to see you today :) ETA: TPWKY is AMAZING. Listen to the endometriosis episode for an enraging experience.
Oh I’m so sorry to hear that you are sick as well! And yes, pacing is the trick to not loosing my mind, for sure!
5 months later, and I still think your day bodice for this dress looks the best on you. It also makes the dress look so much more beautiful than the ball gown version. 💚🤗
Thank you for sharing when you're not at100%. Always put your health first! Manage those spoons. It looks like this day bodice will be beautiful. Take care and keep going at your best healthy pace. It was great seeing you.
Thank you! 💖
I hear you. I have been through this same hell for the past 4-5 years. You have to work for the money/health care but you need to work or whatever for your mind. You are a young woman and this is not what part of your brain wants. The other part wants to sleep or just chill out. So it is a constant struggle. But don’t give up. Don’t let the blasted disease win! You sound like you were in a great place when you recorded this. Try to keep those thoughts. There will be bad days but the good always come back. We need you! You are a wonderful spirit and you give so much joy to so many people.
Awww thank you so much for the encouragement and you are so right!
Surviving the summer is a great plan and I definitely share that goal! My life is more balanced now than it was a year and a bit ago. Last year around this time I found out I was being made redundant in the summer. I was angry and worried, but I found a new job within just a few weeks and that job is so much better than what I had. I am no longer working myself to death and my Team Leader actually supports me! I have big life things I still need to work on, but it’s easier when your job isn’t your enemy.
Oh I am so very happy to hear that! It’s really great when you aren’t battling through every day. 💖
@retroclaude has a couple of good videos on sewing with a chronic illness as she has ME ( I think). You should watch her, it might help. Glad you're back, don't push yourself too hard. 👍🏼
💖💖
So glad to see you. I'm also really glad you quit that job - dealing with a shitty job while having a chronic illness is torture. I hope you can find something that's more compatible with your energy levels. This Podcast Will Kill You is one of my favorite podcasts, I love it so much.
💖💖
As a quilter who doesn't like to spend lots of money on basting spray, I use Elmer's school glue and iron it dry. Works like a dream!
Noted!! Thank you!
I’m so glad your back!!
Do not rush the next video! I would much rather that you take care of yourself than worry about the next video!! Seriously take care of yourself we’ll wait!
I’ve been slow very slow. They upped my thyroid medication but I’m still slow. Then spring hit so allergies and migraines. I’m re-listening to favourites. My sewing room got discombobulated so I need to fix that before I can get back to sewing
Thank you so much! And I hope you are feeling better! Allergies are really horrible this year!
It's good to see you! Lovely to see the Watson bodice again. It's a top-fave. I've been repairing clothes, and building small shelves for my desk out of cardboard. Right now, I'm learning better engineering, to make the shelving more durable. Testing hot glue techniques and what-not.
That sounds cool. I also need more shelves and always have tons of cardboard. I'll have to look into that
Foam core makes great shelving units, even the cheap Dollar Tree stuff. I'm primarily a papercrafter and I store ink pads and pens in shelving I made. Easy to decorate too, if you wish. Hot glue is the best way to put it together.
That sounds awesome and like a good way to upcycle!!
How good to see you again. You are my go to 'watch while sewing in bed' person, also - 'do it properly Mandy - look how Noelle does it'.
Ahahahaha I can’t really say that everything I do is “proper” 😂🤣
Yay TPWKY! My favorite podcast ever! (Though the COVID episodes were hard to listen to at the time.) I've been attempting to catch up on Lego Masters, but the baby has very limited patience for lego. I finally sewed a thing (a vest) that I'd been procrastinating on because I hate buttonholes - but when I finally did it the buttonhole setting on my machine wasn't nearly as scary as I remembered. I love that you have that list (so satisfying to watch you cross things off!) because it feels like fully 80% of sewing is not sewing but cutting and ironing/pressing, and sometimes I forget that and get all frustrated that I'm still serging edges and transferring markings and not actually sewing.
80% if it IS prep!! The list help me feel like I am not absolutely stuck in the mud, because, yeah… it’s so much prep. And I haven’t actually listened to the covid ones yet. I’m kinda saving them for later. The long covid one made me feel a little better though, so I have hope for them!
Noelle, it's so good to see you. I'm sorry the job didn't work out but I'm glad you recognised this was not a good fit for you! The bodice is already looking fantastic.
Thank you so much!
I quit my job because I was sitting at work, staring t the computer wishing I was at home sewing. Can we afford it? No. But, we are going to try.
I have missed sewing with you. (It feels like having a friend in the room sewing along with me, and I love it.)
Yay for quitting work! I hope it works out for you!! 💖💖
So good to see you! I worked 4 months in a highly toxic environment. My dad died the day before Thanksgiving and I think that is when I realized I was not going to stay. I noped out over Christmas break. I am working on getting renters into a house that the last renters destroyed almost two years ago! I am working on a pattern test for an independent pattern maker. I’ve got sewing machines from 1887 to 1979 all on a refurb and maintenance schedule…using the 1923 and 1965 machines as my main sewing machines. Not finishing anything but getting lots done. I am exhausted and sad all of the time. I get up and go every day anyway. I spend time with my kids working. Life is a whole deal isn’t it. 🤣 All this to say that my problems are first world and I am so grateful for my privilege. Pick your own pace. 🌈🌈🦋🦋 Oh, just finished Alligator Candy…sad, relatable, devastating, and awe inducing. Human behavior is such a spectrum. ❤️ 🤬🤯 oh and The Butterfly King…podcasts.
I’m glad you left that job 💖 and I’m so sorry about your dad. Sending big hugs!
So glad to see you! I’m a firm believer in doing things in bits. And remember, no matter how slow you think you are going, you are still lapping everyone on the couch! 😘
Yes! Thank you!
Hi Noelle! Glad to see and hear from you!
Living with any type of chronic condition is a lot. Especially when it affects your daily activities. I was diagnosed with chronic migraines a month ago. Not knowing when you wake up in the morning how your day is going to go is quite frustrating. I can imagine you are in the same situation. My daily goal is to do 1 thing. If it gets done, super! Mission accomplished! If it doesn't, I'll try again tomorrow.
My sewjo has also come back. Small session and process occurs! This is thanks to Retro Claude's channel here on RUclips. She crafts around her disability. It's amazingly inspiring!
So I took a page out of her book and this year my motto is to lean into it. Instead of a barrier, I see my condition as a part of the process and I need to work with it.
It's lovely to see you again and what you are making. Take care ❤️
I am also on the “one thing” path! If I get any one thing done, I win! If I get more done without hurting myself, even better!! I’m so sorry about your migraines though, that sounds so horrible!
So glad to see you and that you are on the mend. Love the black velvet collar with the red! My grandkids came to celebrate my 70th birthday. 4 delightful days. But then ‘un-babyproofing’ the house and doing necessary tasks was overwhelming and I yearned to just hibernate. A week later I’m fine - hadn’t realized I just needed to refill my energy bank! Listen to my body and let it rest without feeling shame. Keep on taking care of you.❣️ 🤗
I’m so glad that you got to spend some time with them! 💖
As someone who burnt out and is chronically ill, it takes a lot to modify how you think to do the right amount per how you feel each day. Take your time, be gentle on you and know you are not alone out here. There are plenty of us "spoonies" who understand exactly what you are going through. It is very good to see your face. Love the jacket and can't wait to see it fully done (when you are ready).
I just finished two dresses and am starting a shirt today to go with all the other stuff I have made in the last 3 weeks. My holiday is 20 days away and I don't feel prepared at all for it, but I'll manage I am sure.
You should be on your holiday right about now and I hope it’s glorious and that you are reveling in every moment of it!
@@Costuming_Drama sadly, it had to get postponed because my travel partner has life show up, as it does, and so I'm still sewing and massively enjoying the lovely weather we've been having here. Make lemonade, right?
Hope you are feeling well and enjoying your summer start.
Yay! Glad to see you’re back. Take your time, feel better, we will all be here when you do. Please do not feel rushed. Glad you didn’t feel like you needed to stay at a toxic place for the money. I know how hard it is currently for anyone to get a job. So, that’s a huge “props to you!” 🎉
Thank you so much!!
So happy to see you back Noelle. I'm glad you left that toxic atmosphere and I know you made the right decision to leave it. Onwards and upwards now. Wishing you, Chris and your feline family all the very best in life.
Thank you!! 😊 and same to you and yours!
Good rest, a great walk, a little work, a bit of fun, a wee time for a hobbie, and best friend's resolve the worst ills.
You got that right!
Yay, so lovely to see you back on your BS and sharing it with us all
Thank you!
Great to see you back on our screens again missed your cool makings!!!
Thanks so much!
So glad to see you again, you have been greatly missed! Please don’t push yourself - we want you to focus on you first. Wishing you nothing but good vibes & good health.
💖💖💖💖
I was hoping you would upcycle the skirt in the video you talked about not liking the original skirt, so im happy to see that
I'm happy to see you again and I'm glad you're feeling a bit better! Looking forward to seeing the complete bodice.
Thank you! Me too!
`So pleased to see you feel up to start posting again Noel. Loving what you are doing with this project. I lost my sew jo for a long while, but as I have been making fabric flowers for a church event in the summer with much hand sewing, I am at last feeing I could tackle new projects again. Well done for ditching work that was so draining it can be so difficult to balance living life and earning enough too. Really looking forward to your continuing project and hoping you gradually feel up to doing more when you are ready.
Thank you so much and I’m so glad to hear that your sewjo is coming back!
Thank you for your transparency and vulnerability. So glad you were able to put yourself ahead of that job and to say no to toxicity!
💖💖💖
It is great to see you again!
Thank you!!
And my life has been good, spent three weeks in CA, (see comment below) caught up with Peninsula Bay Area folk, please SB and LA. redoing my sewing room, too busy for someone who has apparently retired. Really glad to see you up and doing, one of my oldest friends has both long covid and ME, and it's been pretty grim (though she did managed to finish her fine art degree). Take care of yourself.
Also have a chronic illness, pacing and listening to what your body/mind needs is essential.
TPWKY is awesome. I used it to study for my exam in Travel Health (I am now certified!!!!) I agree with someone else about the endometriosis episode.
I’m getting married in 4 weeks and seeing my and my fiancé’s outfits. Mine is 3 pieces (not white) that I will be able to wear regularly. He’s getting a shirt and vest that match mine.
Keep doing things but listen to your limits. Glad to see you.
Oh yay! Congrats on your nuptials!! 💖💖
I will agree with what you've already said that others have told you: I think it's actually really good for folks to see that "in the real world" projects don't get done fast. I've been sewing a shirt (17th century 'pirate' shirt... by hand) for about 3 weeks now. Like you (and I also appreciate that you talk about this as well), I have a 'day' job, and a chronic illness/rare disease that just sucks the energy out. I only get about an hour a day to be able to sew. Projects take time, and the fact that you talk about it and show it is a good thing to help set real expectations for folks who are watching to learn. (Oh, and I attached my sleeves inside out.)
💖💖💖 (my pirate shirt project is coming up on its two year anniversary 🤣😂)
If you haven't watched Dead Boy Detectives, you ABSOLUTELY should. I think you'll enjoy it. I'm on episode 6 & am loving it. I'm making a black on black striped cotton Regency day dress. I'm excited about it. It's Laughing Moon. Glad that you are feeling a little better. Take care of yourself. Been writing a bunch of stuff. I'm very pleased. Hopefully IATSE won't go on strike, so fingers crossed on that. To the end.
I have watched a few episodes and think it’s great! I really do need to go watch the rest!
Should I be sleeping now because I have to get up for work in 3 hours - yes. Did I click as soon as I saw you posted - also yes.
Lovely to see you again and really enjoying the video!
Awww! You're the best!
Welcome back!
Thank you!!
I am so happy to see you back. Don't forget to be kind to yourself.
Thank you! I’m trying!!!
So lovely to have you back :) Chronic Illness sucks ( I say that sitting here bombed out from a silly head cold).
Boooo cold! But thank you for the warm welcome back! I hope you are feeling better by now!
I just listened to the audiobook of 'Braiding Sweetgrass', and it was absolutely amazing. Lot of deep thinking on gratitude, relationships, and how we view the natural world. The audiobook is over 16 hours, so it's really satisfying and doesn't end too soon.
I will check it out!
It's finals week! Once I am done dealing with everything from students' tech issues to grading finals, I have plans. I need a new purse & refuse to spend tons of money on it when I have plenty of fabric (anyway, purses which are actually practical can be quite ugly & $$$$). I also want to finally make the Nier Automata 2B dress.
We've been watching "Fallout". I think it's on Prime & they actually did a good job on it. Usually video games adapted to other media suck, but they kept the flavor while telling a new story.
I thought fallout was great!! And my husband LOVES Nier! We have been twice now to concerts in LA to see the orchestra play and it was beautiful!!
@@Costuming_Drama The music for Nier is definitely interesting. My husband has the soundtrack on his iPod. 🙂 We finished watching this season of Fallout & are interested in seeing what else they do with it. It might not 100% fit the lore of the games, but what they did with it is certainly plausible enough. My parents, who never even saw anyone play the game, liked it, too.
Edit: slight grammar check
🫂🫂🫂❤️❤️❤️🫂🫂🫂
So sorry you're dealing with long term illness - it sucks! )My husband lives with chronic exhaustion with COPD. My Friend Lisa has degenerative and chronic illness struggles. I have long term depression and health issues.)
It's lovely to hear from you and know that you're hanging in there and hoping for better times in the future! I'm glad you're able to find joy in sewing again!!! 🎉🎆
This was an enjoyable video! Thank you for sharing!!! Love, Hugs & Sparkles! ❤️🫂✨
We have fought against a cockroach invasion since last October. We've converted from cardboard box storage to plastic tubs with lids. Almost everything in our kitchen lives in plastic tubs with lids or in Ziploc bags.
Bullseye, one of our 4 cats, is congested and I'm concerned for him. We can't afford the vet. (Still trying to pay off last year's vet bills from getting our Foster kitty Bullseye neutered, his blown eye removed, his abscess infections treated and the discovery of skin lesions from his sensitivity to fish in our cat food.)
Life has its challenges. We do our best and keep looking forward with hopes for better times.
Oh I hope your kitty is feeling better!!
Great to see you back Noelle. Glad you have better health, may it continue. One day at a time. 💖
Indeed!
I'm sure I have eight-year-old tissue paper in my Christmas wrapping stash! Lol
What a great solution for adhesive basting !
A new video-yay! Glad to hear you're finding a new balance and look forward to your next video- whenever that might be!
Yay, thank you!
So happy to see a video! Fellow sufferer here and I made art for the first time in almost a year. ❤❤❤
Wonderful! I’m so glad you are making art again. That’s a good sign. I’m so sorry you are suffering as well. 💖
So happy to see you again. I've been largely doing nothing. Long term physical problems are the shits. I've been healing a broken foot for 10 months. I miss my shoes. I've been getting a million little things done -- you know, all the little crap that takes ten or fifteen minutes, (sometimes two or three hours) but never gets done because you'd rather do laundry than that stuff. Take care of yourself. Long COVID can be super dangerous.
Yay productivity! Getting that stuff off my list always makes me feel so clean and fresh!
@@Costuming_Drama Soooo, since that comment, I ended up breaking the other foot, too. Now I'm going through a backlog of magazines, and folding fabrics. It's aggravating that when you can't do a thing, like sew or drive, that's when you want to do it the most. Take care.
Yay!! 🎉
Noeeelleeee! Yay! Not watched yet, but I am so happy to see a video from you! Just yesterday evening I spent a bit hoping for an update from you (and not for the first time)
Finished watching now (with a night's sleep pause in between... the older of our two little ones kept kicking me tonight, yay XD) and I am so glad you seem to be feeling better. The new energy can be felt through the screen. Glad you are still careful and taking it easy though. The job part sounded awful. Hope everything will go in your favour from now on.
I'm still crocheting various things, keeping tiny humans alive and constantly battling the long watch list from my YT subscription page. I also finally started making videos at least a bit more regularly, hoping to be able to keep with it. I'm still on parental leave (we have a possibility of a loooong one in CZ), but with funds getting thinner for the last year of it. I'm hoping for a nice sunny (but not too hot a) summer, no huge vacation plans though. Maybe we should plan something with my dearest, we'll be together for 10 years this September...
Oh congrats on 10 years!! It’s lovely to hear from you!
Oh, I missed you so much I'm going to watch all the ads...
Awww thank you! Hope you enjoy!
This made me so happy to see!
💖
I'm so happy you are back! I bought my sewing machine today! Eeeeee! This podcast will kill you is my favorite podcast!!!!!!
YAY NEW SEWING MACHINE!!! Wooo
So lovely to see you back, if not feeling better then at least grimly determined to carry on!! That's how I get through the day sometimes, I swear I'm only still around because I'm too stubborn to give in to my various illnesses 😂
You've got this Noelle, keep trying!! ❤❤
💖💖💖
My mom & I were just talking about you last week, hoping you were finding relief and joy wherever possible.
Aeee that is so sweet! Thank you! 💖
It’s so good to see a video from you. I do hope you are well. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos so I just wanted to send you a virtual hug ❤
Thank you so much! Hugs right back!
Welcome back Noelle! I recently re-downloaded Keystone to my phone in the hopes that I'll one day get around to making a bodice. Love seeing what you're making :D
Edit: Watched the Turles All The Way Down movie based on the John Green novel and it was SO good! If you haven't watched it yet, it's streaming on Max. Also, I'm beyond excited to go see Dana Schwartz at her paperback release at the end of May! I'm hoping to get to chat with her about Noble Blood (which I found through you!) and her research process!!
Oh I have turtles all the way down on my watch list for sure and it’s so good to hear that you liked it!
Glad to see you back! It's always great to see your projects come together. Hope you keep feeling better every day, Long Covid is the worst & parts of it drag on for months! Many months. Just take it easy. Hugs!
Thanks so much!
OK I watched and enjoyed everything. And I love that you used scrap Mudcloth print fabric as bone casing. No one will see but I will know.
💋👧🏻👧🏽💋
Thanks
💖💖💖
So lovely to see you again. Pace yourself, please! Love your videos xxx
Thank you so much! 💖
A great and much anticipated return. Really nice to see you looking so well. ❤
Thank you so much!
❤ It's good to see you back. Glad that you left a job that wasn't a good fit. Very glad that you are taking care of yourself. If you have to take time off to handle things, then you have to take the time off.
As for books, i read "Stab Me Now" by Jill Bearup and "Gideon the Ninth" by Tamsyn Muir.
Working on pants that actually fit me and work for me. Wish me luck.
Y'all be safe!
Thank you so much! And I hope you got perfect pants!
Glad to see you back. I was getting concerned. Hope your health continues to improve.
Thank you!
Ooo it's going to be so goth-y and dramatic, I love it! 💜
Thank you!
I've been listening to trial coverage! Runkle of the Bailey did great coverage of the Hannah Gutierrez trial and is now doing the Karen Read trial, its wild stuff!
I’m glad you are back. Definitely missed you. Hope you start feeling better. Having chronic diseases I get the struggle and it’s hard.
It really is 💖
Love taking things apart and putting them into a different project.
I actually squealed when I saw you had posted. So happy to see you and so sorry to hear you've had such a hard time with work and all.
Long Covid is a bitch but there is tons of research going on, which hopefully will benefit those of us that have ME/CFS too.
I made a wool knit pajamas for my greyhound girl Kaylee and am now procraftinating with crazy quilting the scraps into a bed for our wool loving cat Louhi. The startitis is bad, but I have a regency wardrobe planned and some victorian bicycle bloomers and vest combos on the go for everyday wear.
Loved 3 body problem! Also liked Dead Boy Detectives on Netflix and just started watching The Santa Clarita Diet. Have somehow missed that one.
And my partner got me hooked on the podcast Betwixt the sheets.
Take care and see you next time. ❤
Thank you for the updates! Your projects sound super fun! And yes, I hope the me/cfs peeps get some kick back from whatever long covid research happens because a lot of it sounds identical. I’m so sorry you have to deal with it too 💖
I am happy that you are starting to feel better! I love your videos and always learn something. As a lupus patient, I understand the fatigue and feeling generally crummy, I hope that you are finally on the road to feeling more like yourself ❤
Thank you and I have a friend with lupis, and I’m so sorry you are suffering from that as well! 💖
Yep, happy to hang out. My chronic fatigue ass watches a lot of youtube.
Im really enjoying Delicious in Dungeon on netflix, unfortunately it comes out weekly. It's a great show, I suggest waiting until all of season 1 is up before watching.
Oh I have heard great things about that and yes, thank you for that advice and I agree with you!
Glad to see you, just don’t overdo it. I’ve been crocheting (a Christmas throw, doilies), and watching videos.
Love that! Crochet is so relaxing!
So happy to see a video. And love what you are working on. ❤
Thank you so much!
Sooo happy to see you back and I hope you are doing well. I'm glad you took time off to take care of yourself and I truly hope that you feeling a bit better :) Amazing job as always with the sewing, and yes always rather see you and hang then a complete project. To the end as always ;)
Thank you so much!
Hi! Great to hang out!
Thanks for watching!!
Welcome back! So glad to see you again. Life has life-ed. Some good (moved and started a new job-simultaneously) some bad (split with my mentally ill partner of nearly 20 years and had our 4th child simultaneously). Relieved things are settling down and picking back up. Mostly listening to healing trauma and codependency stuff (Tim Fletcher is amazing). Learning more about my neurodivergence and Chronic Fatigue too, which has helped me to have grace wit myself and also my ex and his equally mentally ill (and likely short lasting) spouse. Projects are in planning stages until I can get unpacked and find stuff but going to knit and crochet a lap blanket for my Mom's birthday.
Wow! That’s a lot! I hope you are doing ok and managing it all!
Glad you’re back! I enjoy your videos so much. As someone that quit my job after 11 years at the same company you were working for… man, I could share some stories. I stayed there WAY longer than I should’ve because of the good health insurance (my partner has some health issues), but I couldn’t take it any more and quit to become a full-time art major. I miss how good the insurance was, but it wasn’t worth the toxic environment. If only we had healthcare for all so people didn’t have to stay at a shitty job just so they can take care of their health issues! Don’t get me started! Anyway…
Glad to hear you’re listening to your body and doing what you need to do. We’ll still be here when you post something! 🙂
I am HERE for the universal health care, friend. And I’m so glad you got out! 💖💖
Lovely to see you Noelle!! ❤
Thank you!!
I'm so excited that you've found TPWKY!!! I love that podcast and will put it on when I sew and craft. Please take all the rest you need, I'm so glad you've found a way to let yourself take time to slowly (hopefully) heal.
I've been on a massive pants kick, but think I need to make some fun and pretty dresses next.
Please bless me with your pants knowledge! 😂🤣
@@Costuming_Drama the biggest thing to know is that all pants patterns assume you will stretch the fabric on one side of the inseam (I think it's the back) rather than have a dramatic curve in the fabric. And then we rub that fabric between our thighs and wonder why it gives way, but I digress. The point is your life will be so much easier if you do that stretching at your iron before you sew the front and back of the legs together.
Watching and learning
Thanks for watching
Wonderful to see you and whatever you are up to. 💙
🤗
I love that coat/bodice on you, it looks amazing & suits you perfectly. It's a great pattern choice for the new one to match your skirt. Looking forward to watching it come together. And by the way, the ballgown was stunningly beautiful, just gorgeous!
Oh thank you!
I literally check your channel this morning to make sure i hadn't missed an upload :). So glad to see you back.
Yay, thank you!
Great to see you again! I was in your neighbourhood a couple of weeks ago, first time in eight years, and drove by your Joanne's. Almost bought cloth, despite luggage limitations! Good luck going forward!
Thank you!
Thanks for letting us know how you are doing. So sorry that you have had a struggle, but your indomitable spirit shines through. Sending all the good wishes for strength to get through the summer. I'm attending my husband's college reunion in Boston. It is so very different from Silicon Valley. I'm reading a light series about a fashion reporter who investigates crimes in DC. Crimes of fashion by Ellen Byerrum. It's amusing.
Oh that book sounds fun!! I hope the reunion was entertaining!
Glad to see you! Chronic illness sucks, but I'm glad that you have a good support system.
Back in February (I think?), I finally finished my 1700s pocket! Took me almost a year between setting it down and picking it back up. I started my next pocket, but I haven't touched it since March.
Last month I spent 2/3 of a rent payment just to be told that I'm "too smart to be autistic," and during all this my mental health took a nosedive, so that's been fun. *Sarcasm* I've also had my cards compromised twice in one month, my mom had her second hip surgery (she's doing well aside from the intubation damaging her vocal chords), got a new-to-me car, still trying to not overdo it at work so I'm not exhausted all the time (it'd be simple if I didn't love my job), and trying to get myself to go out and make new IRL friends so I'm not as lonely. Knock on wood that my mystery fevers are gone for good as well.
I've just been rewatching and rereading comfort stuff for a while now. I want to branch out more, but often I'm too tired to put in the effort. May we all have better and less-stressful times ahead.
Oh my gosh! That’s so much! No wonder you want comfort media! 💖💖💖
It's so good to see you back! I've just had a resurgence of reading voracity and tore through the Locked Tomb books in the last week. My sister gave me the first one for Christmas several years ago and I hadn't had the capacity to sit down and read a new book for a while but whne I did, whoa, they are REALLy good. I couldn't put them down.
That’s awesome!! I’ll check them out!
Welcome back! You were missed.
💖💖💖
I''m glad you're talking about your long covid. So many people still either haven't heard of it or don't think it's so bad, when really it's awful and your chances of getting it increase with every covid infection.
I love This Podcast Will Kill You. Good choice!
💖
Wonderful to see you. I’m glad you are managing your recovery and health care. I’ve been so busy paining rooms and moving out to a rural property near the Oregon coast for the summer. Trying to convert a large kennel into a catio is near the top of my to-do list. I need to get back to sewing the cat basket I started for my fur boys.
Oh that all sounds dreamy!
I was just thinking about you last week and missing your updates. Glad to hear that you’re doing okay and on the mend. I just finished The Golem and the Jinni. Quite enjoyed it. It’s fantasy, but also grapples with loneliness and freedom and purpose in really honest ways (to me anyway).
That book sounds absolutely lovely!
Glad to see you again! Sorry you haven't recovered from L.C. yet, bummer.
I've been listening to Terry Pratchett Diskworld books. We have them all in hardcopy but I love listening while doing housework and sewing, etc.
Stay well and see you when you can get a video out. Thank you,
💖💖💖
Take care of yourself! Lovely to see you again!
Thank you!!
So nice to see you again ❤
😊 thank you
I’m glad you are back. I totally used this video as body doubling to power through some work this afternoon
Perfect! I hope you got lots done!
It is good to see you back. I had some minor health issues over the winter but nothing bad, just slowed me down to a crawl for a while. It is spring now and we are building the garden in the new house from scratch, well gravel actually. Built beds, got a truck load of good dirt and compost combination and hired some young muscles to move it into the beds. I am mostly just knitting chickens and watching Gardeners World and other gardening shows. Currently reading Doggerland , an archeology book on the underwater land between Britain and Europe that used to be above sea-level until 6000bce.
Oh I have a friend whose ancestors come from that place! How interesting! I’m so sorry you had health issues (believe me, I get it!), but am super glad you are having fun with garden stuff now!
I'm making a lined coat for myself and adding a lining to a friend's coat. So many steps in this video are what I've been doing, which is fun 😊
I'm looking forward to part 2. I'm interested to see how my finishing steps will be different from yours.
I'm glad you're feeling better and taking care of yourself. 🧡

Great to have you back. My current project is ambroidering a scythian phoenix into a little shield shape, because my middlest nibling is going through a knight's phase, and I wanna make a little surcoat with a coat of arms for their 4th birthday.
That’s so cute!!
