Just in case anyone is wondering those saftey pins are called "Blub safety pins" and often times are used as stitch markers for those who knit/crochet. :)
Reading: Moved on to a cowbow romance. ROFL which is making me have all sorts of flash backs to my 20s when I was a "cowgirl" and gaga over cowboys. ROFLMAO. Sewing: working on a few things for the GBACG Bazaar so I am pulling out patterns, and fabric stash and other stuff to sell off and get out of my sewing space so I can have more space and a bit of cash. :) Watching: The Watchful Eye. Really good. Ughhhhh I think that's it. :)
Hey I enjoy your chats… currently reading Going postal by Terry Pratchet and a random werewolf Japanese folk creature romance from an app on my phone. Useful when trapped with a book. I have to watch ads to continue on and it keeps me from losing track of time.
Love the car chatter! I'm a mom with three under 5, so mostly consuming RUclips just listening to chatter as I'm doing other things. It's relaxing knowing I'm not missing anything (video or words to be read)
It was so cool to meet you at the Chicago event! (I'm the chocolate milk/cockade person hehe.) I love how the decoration on your ball gown came out, and also it makes me feel better to know that so many people were working on their outfits down to the wire. I purposefully chose something I already had to avoid that stress, but in hindsight I think I prefer the "will I get it done" stress over the "I should have made a new and better thing" feelings I had. It's all good though - lessons learned from my first actual costuming event :)
Your dress was lovely and your crown was divine!! I also prefer to have stuff done early because that last minute stuff makes me Nuts!! It was so good to meet you! I hope I get to come back and do so again!!
Thank you for not rushing the filming of the costumes. I felt like I really did get to see them very well. I especially enjoyed seeing the mannequins wearing shoes.
Yes you should wear satin or any other material you want. Don’t put off wearing the good stuff!! I enjoyed the chats. Through I’m really serious about you wearing the good stuff!! What’s the worst thing that could happen to a satin corset or stays? Really if they get damaged or destroyed you can repair or make a new one! Mending is period! Besides what are you saving the good stuff for? Wear it and enjoy it! Loved the costumes and the Disney exhibition. But now I want to see a few of the costumes in motion! Makes a note to self look up movies and bug kids about what streaming services they have! Looking forward to seeing everything put together in the next video. Vlog whatever you feel like on whatever device you have with. Anyone who doesn’t like it should have booked tickets to the ball and seen everything firsthand! My rain turned into snow! Spring is so much fun and random. Never know what will happen.
A rhombus has parallel pairs of sides, \=\ where a trapezoid is the shape name you're looking for, /=\ . Ascii art for the win :P Sorry if someone already said it, took me a long time to finish this video cause I was sewing and had to go back and watch a bunch of it! Love how the decorations look!
1. football is Life! I love Ted Lasso! I have a friend that my hubby and I do dinner dates with so we can watch it together. It is so wholesome! 2. I’ve heard you talk about the Dresden Files before, but haven’t been intrigued until you mentioned them. I recently moved from a mentally exhausting job to one that is not as mentally exhausting and I’m excited to start reading again! I will definitely be checking them out. 3. Your chats are my favorite. I love hearing what you are up to and all the cool things you get to do. Thank you for bringing us along! 4. You deserve to enjoy yourself! I hope you did just bring your iPhone to the ball and not the camera. I hope you took a few videos but mostly just had fun. I can’t wait to see your next video!
I adore the Dresden File and the Fury series. I can’t remember their name… but if you like more straight up fantasy as well as urban fantasy you’ll love those.
So the chatter in the car was a great way to to hear what's going on while I am sewing easter dresses for my grandbabies. Didn't have to look up, but totally entertained. I can't wait to see the footage of the Chicago trip.
I love chats! Love hearing you’re thoughts and what you are watching/reading/listening to. Have to say a huge thank you for getting me onto the podcast ‘You’re Dead to Me’ awhile ago.
Yes, I enjoyed the chats. The topics and your opinions are interesting. I drive a lot for my work and I understand and love a rambling conversation. The flowers are a fabulous addition to a beautiful dress. Well done!
Loved that you used my bulb stitch markers hee hee really tickled my fancy. Thank god for white tap for your helper with bustling your bustle. As a volunteer wardrobe assistant god i hate black on black costume situations.. love the car chat.
I just started a new hobby (because I need more lol) of leather working, so I've been making a wallet out of some leather scraps someone gave me. I love the chats, they are great background noise so I don't get bored while hand sewing.
Enjoy the ball. Don't worry about the camera. You have already been to the ball, but you're right, we don't care if the footage is shot on an iPhone. You could make the stays for someone else. I would happily volunteer & we're about the same size, so you could still test the pattern in your size. LOL I like the car chat. To the end.
Like the car chats and the inspiring disney exhibit seemed very cool. I especially loved the flower decoration on the bodice - I can't wait to see you in it. You're going to look amazing! Thanks for the long video - I'm currently regretting being nice to my friend and altering her wedding dress because she is short and is wearing and illusion lace gown with all the decorations at the bottom...which means I have to record & label all the pieces, remove them, shorten the tulle and then sew them back on. She is going to look amazing and that is what makes it all worth it.
The flowers on the gown came out so beautifully! I look forward to the final reveal. I know you've already attended the ball by now; I hope you had a great time! I'm knitting a thing. I remembered some really gorgeous yarn I bought on a whim. I looked all over Ravelry but couldn't find a pattern to make quite what I wanted with it, so I'm just doing my own thing-- first time I've knit a garment without pattern, so we'll see how it goes. Luckily, it doesn't have to be a perfect fit, as I'm intending it to have a good deal of positive ease. It's basically just going to be a crop top in a very loose gauge to be layered over something more opaque, and I've chosen a couple of stitch patterns to alternate between. The sleeves will be whatever length I have enough yarn for. Last time I told you I was rereading a book by Rachel Hartman. Finished that, and now I'm rereading the first book she published, Seraphina. I totally get your enjoyment of rereading a whole series.
What am iI working on right now? What am I almost always working on? 😂 More kit for my Medieval household. Our season starts just after Easter with the Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Festival and our two young members have had the audacity to grow! 😉 The ball gown is a masterpiece, you clever lady. Perhaps you don't appreciate how much of an advocate for and inspiration to voluptuous ladies you are. Anyone of any size and shape can look stunning in historical clothing, as you prove over and over again 😊
I do approve of your car chats! If you want a great sci-fi series to read that’s full of nerdy references (especially Star Trek), I highly recommend the Bobiverse series by Dennis E. Taylor.
My husband absolutely loves Ted Lasso also. He watches every episode the day it comes out. I absolutely loved the Night Circus. I read it and created a gown for Kathy Hays Foundations Revealed competition in 2020.
The costumes at the exhibit were incredible. Liked the background score. I realize your choices are limited to only copyright-free music, still "you chose wisely". Looking forward to seeing the entire Victorian gown. I am prejudiced because I love all deep red gowns with black decorations/jewelry.😉 So behind on everything video, I never not even finished Andor or began Season 3 of The Mandalorian. I am watching Picard season 3 (which I feel is much superior to season 2).
I enjoyed the chatter :D The shape is trapezoid. In parallelograms, both sides are parallel to each other. I've been crocheting, developing a new pattern for a supportive demon, which is a lot of fun of 'how do i make this in my head?' which is a challenge and making me cross-eyed in that good way of being creative. I've been listening to more of the christian deconstructionist and video essay youtube this week, though I did finish a book that is a cozy mystery set in a small town and the MC is the owner of an embroidery shop saying which just reminded me I wanted to look up ribbon embroidery as it was mentioned a lot. Right now, my cat is laying in the stripe of sunlight on the screened in balcony, rolled so his belly is against the wall, his head tipped back and on an angled scratcher like it was a pillow, his front paws curled up so I can see his beans and it's adorable. Anyways. the costumes are always amazing and I'm glad you had a good time. Lost time due to unforeseen events always stinks, but I'm glad y'all planned a sewing day. Chatter is always helpful in getting things done.
Looking forward to the Chicago trip video! Totally fine with any footage and camera setup, don't spoil your experience worrying on that front! We're easy! 😎😁 Also, yes, I totally enjoy the chats!
thanks for the hot tip on finishing silk chiffon!! The chances of it ever being used by me are very very slim, but still filing it away in my brains :) I am currently unpicking the armhole bindings (yes both because do the same steps on both armholes before moving forward) on my grey chevron dress because I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize until the very last turn, after two rows of stitching and two passes with the scissors to trim, that I attached the binding to the INSIDE if the garment.... Whooooohooooooooo!!!!!
Love the chats! I too listen to the Dresden books for comfort. They are great long reads. I also have enjoyed Rick Riordan’s Trials of Apollo. I’d collected the graphic novel versions of his YA novels and loved them. And recently read full versions and loved them. I’m currently whipstitching drapes on to french curtains rings for hanging. I am nearly done. Doing something productive! Your gown is really lovely. I’m excited t apply your chiffon hemming trick sometime. It’s brilliant! I’ve been working on drawings. A small series I affectionately call Adventures in Relationships. About circus performers who ‘tame’ lions. These are just small pieces some of which I may move into add to a larger canvas for a painting. Alas tonight was gym and lay in bed night! Bonne voyage to ball!
The chats portion was fun. I think it might have been nice to have it in a more chronological order so that talking about going to the exhibit happened before the footage of the exhibit in your blog. Also two for your reqs list. Horseman by Christina Henry and Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott.
Yeah… I just didn’t wanna put a big old chats in the beginning for people not interested in it. It throws off the algorithm if people skip forward through the beginning of the video…
You are so good to your “people”. Thanks for recording the exhibits. I can’t wait to see the video! This is totally unrelated to anything on your channel except that I know you are a fan of some musicals - have any of you had a chance to see “Come from Away“ yet? It’s a great show with no costuming other than jeans and sweat suits. I’m just so proud of our Newfoundland neighbours. Newfoundlanders are famous for their kindness, generosity and hospitality. My brother-in-law is a Newfoundlander so I’m well aware of the accent and the personality. I had no vloggers vids to watch so I went down a two day rabbit hole watching broadway videos. I’m glad you posted this - it made me detach myself from “Come From Away”!
@@Costuming_Drama you cry and then you laugh wile crying then you just laugh and repeat. What struck me was how many people went home feeling guilty because they had had such a wonderful time while back home people were devastated.
How I hem silk chiffon is very similar to how your method starts. Stitch with a short stitch length 2.0 or less. Press up on the stitch line, trim close to stitching. Then with your thumb and first finger roll the stitched line until the raw edges are encased and whip stitch over the rolled hem. The rolled hem should be almost as narrow as the first stitch line was. I usually to a test to see how it looks with various stitch lengths. If the garment could be washed, I would starch the chiffon as stiff as a piece of paper. Make the sleeve hems and do your pleats then was the starch out. Every fabric is different even two different colours will react differently. Black always behaves differently. I think it’s because black needs more dye solids so the fabric is slightly stiffer. That could be way off but my unscientific brain thinks it makes sense. Give it a try. Silk chiffon is a problem only until you find the right method for that piece.
Loved car chats! It's nice having someone chatting away while I'm working ❤ Also, I'm interested by what you said about the Dresden files, I only ever read book 1 and thought it was ok, but hadn't been super motivated to continue the series - it might be time for me to give the series another try!
I would for sure recommend that, although it is a commitment that you may not be into if you didn’t love the first one! I will say that the first and second ones aren’t my fav, but they do set things up for a lot of huge stuff later, so they aren’t toss away books either, which is kind of reassuring!
I love some good chats! I totally understand the 'I could do anything.... what should I do??" moment. For me this ends up in starting seventeen things, and then slowly rotating around them until hems or weaving-in ends is required, then i start something new!! :D I hate hems. I don't even know why- it's the easiest thing to finish and then the project is finished. I just procrastinate them until I have nothing else left in my craft room to do!! I'm currently working through the DCI Ryan mysteries by LJ Ross. I'm three books in and still haven't decided if I like them or not, so I might go the next one, and then call it quits if I'm still not sure!
Love the chat! I'm an invalid, & I live alone, so I really enjoy the company. You've inspired me to have a look at The Dresden Files. Really looking forward to seeing your gown at the ball! Best wishes from Czechia.
Ooooh gorgeous costumes and great variety. There are a lot of costumes in my favourite colour - soft creamy yellow - from the beaded dress, to the Marilyn Monroe style of halter dress, to what looks like a jumpsuit. I love the Wacanda Forever costumes. Lots of great photography. Thank you for taking us along!
I loved the car chat, and it was interesting to see the reflection in your glasses.. drive safe, and have a wonderful time at the ball 🎉. I'm working out how to line a crochet bag for a friend. Xx
Looking forward to all things Chicago.😊 Especially seeing this glorious dress on you! I'm currently crocheting a scarf with vintage yarn from an 1864 pattern shared by Vintage Crochet. It's very sweet, in pastel colours, and a no-brainer while I watch Adam Dalgleish episodes based on the P.D. James books or Rumpole of the Bailey. I've also had a bit of a fad of buying large size men's cotton dress shirts from the op shop (thrift store) and unpicking them to use the fabric to sew dresses for girls or a different shirt for myself.
Very excited for seeing the book/courses progress in April! I think we all have some stuff like that xD I enjoyed the chat at the end, I usually enjoy the bits where you talk normally in the videos too. Just the background noise makes some parts of the sentences harder - headphones helped! See you in the next! ❤
Enjoy the ball! I watched Morgan make her dress! I am still reading the Mrs lestrange Bradley books by Gladys Mitchell. I think I am on number 5, WWII is still on or maybe just over, it is sometimes hard tell except when the characters suddenly dive into a bomb shelter. The closing dates for the house keep changing with inspections.... we are going slightly crazy with the lack of certainty. But we are not getting bombed....
I enjoyed the car chat! It reminds me of the random conversations I have with my bestie 🥰 I hope you have/had an awesome time in Chicago!! I’ve only been there once for a couple days and would love to see more of the city. 😊
Yes, to wholesome. I need someone to explain Lacrosse to me . I did enjoy the chat and it could have continued even longer. (Your voice and demeaner calm me. Thanks for that!) I didn't get any reading done over Spring Break like I was hoping. I didn't get my cleaning done either. My entire week has been working on my art to maybe enter a call to entry in SOHO. And I've been reviewing Dadaism to consider another call in Chicago. I hope you had a great time. I'm looking forward to everyone's Chicago trip videos!!!.😁
Chats good. I'm remaking a dress. It's a red cotton flora dress, and it's faded, so I've undone all the seams and are resewing it with the fabric reversed. It's a lot easier than I thought it would be
Always love a good chat! Last weeks episode of Ted Lasso, my SO and I both yelled 'HIS FACE' at the same time! lol! such a great show! I loved how Jamie and Roy are seeming to become 'friends', although you can tell Roy hates it! lol! I'm curious if Jamie's dad will make a come back. He's a garbage human, but i'm curious if he and Jamie sort it out, or if Jamie writes him off. Listening to the Lockwood and Co books, and so far the netflix series is dead on. Very impressed!
I loved seeing everyone in the instagram photos everyone posted. The dress looked so so good all done and the swags laid so nicely. Everyone looked like they had a great time and it was nice to see everyone together. Hope the Ted Lasso convo with Abby was everything. I am sure it was. It is Abby after all. I have now got all my patterns chosen to make the start to my timeless spring/summer wardrobe. Clothing I intend to wear for years that I am going to sew on my 115 year old Singer and hand sew as much as makes sense. I am picking up with the Coquelicot skirt because adjustable modern day skirt with 18th century pockets...yes ma'am. It might be 3am, but what is time anyways? I finished my embroideries and they have homes. I have need a break from my sweaters still so I have put them on hold just a bit more.
Your dress turned out fantastic (of course)! I just saw the FIDM exhibit on Tuesday but still enjoyed another virtual walkthrough. I did not get around to the one at the Huntington. Thank you for filming it so thoroughly because now it almost feels like I did!
I enjoyed the chats. You're always good for an intriguing book recommendation. Oh how the list does grow. I must admit,as much as I enjoyed looking at the pretty costumes I haven't actually seen any of the movies they're from. 😳
I loved Starless Sea and Ten Thousand Doors of January. Alix Harrow (author of Ten Thousand Doors) also wrote Once and Future Witches, which I also enjoyed. I finished phase one of my second pattern test in two weeks so now I'm planning on a sew for myself as a reward for my work. Car chats were pretty enjoyable!
So relieved to see you post a video as I was heading into boring seam finishing on an 1860s muslin bodice. Chats of all variety was exactly what I was hoping for! Also, much agreement that Ted Lasso is amazing! Currently reading Redburn by Herman Melville because I am a dork. But honestly, it's pretty good....
I loved the stream-of-consciousness car chat. Just finished Fugitive Telemetry (Murderbot Diaries #6). Currently avoiding writing my abnormal psych paper. Hope you’re enjoying Chicago!
Hi guess it's been a while since I've said I'm here for the chats. Thank you for sharing all your adventures. I'm working on many baby blankets. My brother's twins arrived last Thursday, 6 weeks early. They have some growing to do before they can come home. Can't remember if I told you in the last video I finished the skirt and chemise? Sending well wishes, take care until next time xo

Nice. I never heard of this name.
I've also seen them called "gourd safety pins", if that helps anyone find them. I found them because I knit, and use them for all sorts of things 👍
Never knew the name, but have tons of them for marking! Good to know xD
Love the car chatter!
I'm a mom with three under 5, so mostly consuming RUclips just listening to chatter as I'm doing other things. It's relaxing knowing I'm not missing anything (video or words to be read)
I think the sleeve floof shape is a trapezoid.
Totally right!

“Disneyana” I have never heard that word before but it’s perfect.
Thank you for not rushing the filming of the costumes. I felt like I really did get to see them very well.
I especially enjoyed seeing the mannequins wearing shoes.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh yes. Poppies and Pleats. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice to see they put the costumes on the dummies properly. FIDM exhibition.
The chats are my favorite part. 💜
Thank you for sharing your journey!
Hooray for timestamps!
💗🦋🌟🌞
Always here for the chatter, in car or otherwise.

I did like the car chat, more of those sprinkles in would be welcome 😊
I like the chats. They make for a companionable watch

What a good friend you are. Thanks for being a good human, you are encouraging when things often seem negative.
Also, the chat was fun. It was an opportunity to spend more time "with" you.
9:11 I would love to see the Doctor Strange costume in person. It is so detailed.
I'm totally here for the car chats. 🙋♀️ Chatter on, my friend!
Yay! Thank you!
So the chatter in the car was a great way to to hear what's going on while I am sewing easter dresses for my grandbabies. Didn't have to look up, but totally entertained. I can't wait to see the footage of the Chicago trip.
That's so sweet to know Easter dresses are still being made ❤
I enjoyed the car chat very much. It is somehow relaxing listening to the road noise as you just share thoughts. Reminds me of good road trip vibes!
Glad you enjoyed it
Yes to car chats 🎉
I love chats! Love hearing you’re thoughts and what you are watching/reading/listening to. Have to say a huge thank you for getting me onto the podcast ‘You’re Dead to Me’ awhile ago.
Oh I’m so glad you like it!
😆 I was disbelieving of how chaos this vlog would be, but wow! Its even more chaos than normal. Glad you had a good time!💜
Right?!
I enjoyed the car chats. I listen at work and it makes it more enjoyable
Glad to hear it!
Yes, I enjoyed the chats. The topics and your opinions are interesting. I drive a lot for my work and I understand and love a rambling conversation. The flowers are a fabulous addition to a beautiful dress. Well done!
Thank you!
The black flower pattern on the shoulder was just so satisfying. I just loved the pattern you made.
Thank you!
I love the chats. ❤

Was really nice with the chatter
I really enjoyed the chats!
6:11 we have a Ruth Carter exhibit here in Raleigh. I live 45 minutes away but I don’t drive.
Loved the chat! Can’t wait to read the Dresden Files books. Thanks for the recommendation.
Hope you enjoy it!

The weird old safety pin thing is actually a knitting stitch marker.
Omg, your the first person that i know of that loved The night circus. I love that book.
It was very interesting, but I loved it too!
Enjoyed the chats.
I super enjoyed the car chat! it was super cozy.

always enjoy your videos whether you are stitching or just communicating
I'm so glad!
The safety pin is a stitch marker for knitting or other yarn work.
Great choice of fabric, especially the color. Your design enhances the fabric. Beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Love the chats! So good to listen to while I'm sewing xx

Looking forward to the Chicago trip video! Totally fine with any footage and camera setup, don't spoil your experience worrying on that front! We're easy! 😎😁 Also, yes, I totally enjoy the chats!
Coming soon!
thanks for the hot tip on finishing silk chiffon!!
Oh no!! 😂🤣
I will have to check out tales of Apollo!!
Always here for a good ramble n chatter plz keep posting
Will do!
The old Timey safety pin you showed reminds me of the lightbulb Stitch markers I have for knitting. Love to see they have many uses.
So gorgeous!!!!
Oh yes! I saw it last year and cried so hard!!!
@@Costuming_Drama you cry and then you laugh wile crying then you just laugh and repeat. What struck me was how many people went home feeling guilty because they had had such a wonderful time while back home people were devastated.
Yeah for sure
As always, enjoy seeing the progess on your work and how your thoughts for the next step form. I like the car chats! :)
Much appreciated!
So glad to see you today. Love the wonderful gown. Good work.
Thank you so much!
I hate hems.
I’ve been there with books before! It’s a really weird place to be!
Love the chat! I'm an invalid, & I live alone, so I really enjoy the company. You've inspired me to have a look at The Dresden Files. Really looking forward to seeing your gown at the ball! Best wishes from Czechia.
Let me know if you end up reading them and what you thought!
HI thank you for sharing and I enjoyed the car chat portion of the video as well
So glad!
I adored the car chatter! I felt like I was in the car with you.
Of course I enjoyed the chats. I'm really considering the dresden files
Give it a go and remember that they get better as they go!
I enjoy the chat, :)
I’m so glad you enjoyed!
Hope you had a wonderful time!
I did!
Very excited for seeing the book/courses progress in April! I think we all have some stuff like that xD
I enjoyed the chat at the end, I usually enjoy the bits where you talk normally in the videos too. Just the background noise makes some parts of the sentences harder - headphones helped!
See you in the next! ❤
Chats were the best but 😊
Those flowers look so good!
Thank you!
Oh that would make me crazy! I hope you get clarity soon!
I enjoyed the chats ^^
I'm glad!
I enjoyed the car chat! It reminds me of the random conversations I have with my bestie 🥰 I hope you have/had an awesome time in Chicago!! I’ve only been there once for a couple days and would love to see more of the city. 😊
I want to go back and spend more time there!
My Aunt and I really enjoyed the Inspiring Disney exhibit at the Huntington. I am so glad that you are sharing it with the Tubeverse.
🙂
It's a lot easier than I thought it would be
Wonderful!
❤❤❤❤❤yay... I was waiting for you to post
💖💖💖
Hey friend. Love your chaos vlogs, just the company I needed when using up some annual leave and catching up on ufos.
Oh wonderful!
Ooo I will have to check that series out!
Oh your wardrobe sounds like it will be divine!
Your dress turned out fantastic (of course)! I just saw the FIDM exhibit on Tuesday but still enjoyed another virtual walkthrough. I did not get around to the one at the Huntington. Thank you for filming it so thoroughly because now it almost feels like I did!
Yay, black on black on black! 😂 Thanks Noelle. I'm loving these chaotic vlogs.❤
Yay!!
35:08 Trapezoid!
I enjoyed the chats. You're always good for an intriguing book recommendation. Oh how the list does grow.
I must admit,as much as I enjoyed looking at the pretty costumes I haven't actually seen any of the movies they're from. 😳
There were some really great films in there!
Re: car chat driving to LA: Sounds like the zombies from the Lord John Gray books infected/poisoned. Diana Gabaldon awesomeness.
I like the chatter.
I like car chats.
I loved the stream-of-consciousness car chat. Just finished Fugitive Telemetry (Murderbot Diaries #6). Currently avoiding writing my abnormal psych paper. Hope you’re enjoying Chicago!
The Murderbot series is one I reread frequently. Can’t wait for the next one coming out in November.
I'll check it out!
lovely video, so much cool stuff worked into an hour, gorgeous gown
Thank you! Cheers!
Oh yay! Finished skirt and chemise!!
