My cat, Quinn the Indigenous Person (see Manfred Man), comes to sit in my lap when he hears your voice. He knows that I don't do stuff when you are on. I actually pause and listen. (I think the 'wand' looks more like Dr. Who's screwdriver...)

Can I just say that I super appreciate seeing someone else out there who is massively productive only once the sun goes down? Like, it's actually quite encouraging to me that you are unapologetically nocturnal and make it work for you.
Also, That shot purple/pink silk that you made the sash out of? MMMMMM, so deliciously pretty!!!

The last video and this one motivated me to go through my own things -craft, clothing and general thing owned- to help clean out my tiny house. I feel like we are body-doubling or buddy-systeming though the things on the list. I love these chaos blogs for that because it feels like shared time with a crafty friend who appreciates doing the other things that aren't a project.
Dupioni is one of my favourite fabrics. I will hear no comments on how I shouldn't use it for what time frame.

I am new to costume making, but old to sewing. My Mom said I've been sewing since I could hold the thread up and say 'Fred it please Mommy'. My daughter got me into costuming to help her with her costumes for NDK, their group is Costume Ninjas. Back in 2018 She talked me into going with her to a conference in Denver and said 'Mom you should make yourself a costume'. So I did! I called it a Peasant Wise Women costume. It was inspired by a character in 'The Land' book series by Aleron Kong, Father of America LitRpg. This year I was intrigued by Bernidette Banner thus leading me to you. I would really like to learn how to make stays and corsets for more mature and voluptuous ladies.

Elphaba’s dress looks almost like silk felting in places. It’s fascinating.
Edit: Nuno Felting it’s called nuno felting. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I kept spelling it in ways that are so wrong. Anyway it’s the strange spiderweb layers with texture shapes and colors on her bodice, and, sleeves. The skirt I’m no help at all. But look at silk felting it’s fabric manipulation, fabric creation, and magic

This was exactly what I needed today. Just some chill time with Noelle after a long day. With checking things off and time lapses with fun music.
I am also in between big projects. Cleaned off my table, dusted out my sewing machine, did some knitting and sewed some french seams on my first ever french seam project (a sleeveless shift for historybounding) while watching this.
I also realised this week that I have come to a point (again) where my storage space for historical clothes is too small for all the things I have made. It feels like I don't make a lot, but the space it takes to storage all the things says otherwise. (It's not a lot-a lot, but relative to the space I have.)

Productive week for you! I’m coming off night shifts so my sleep is even more messed up than usual and have to switch to early shift tomorrow for 2 days then back to nights next week, so foresee some zombie times and no sewing for the next week or two.
After 33 years of sewing experience, I’m just learning to sew knits. Which have always been a bit daunting and very much out of my comfort zone. Of course my first project used bamboo jersey, which is gorgeous, but not exactly a great option when you’ve never sewn knits before. But I’m very much a “throw myself into the deep end “ kind of person, so I’m sure it will work out fine. I’ve also just inherited an overlocker; again, something I’ve never used. Am watching lots of videos to learn and will probably try to book some lessons in the near future once I’m no longer in zombie mode

    • @robintheparttimesewer6798
      @robintheparttimesewer6798 2 года назад

When I did the lessons most of it was experimenting. Buy different colours for all your threads so you can track them then run with scraps. Play with all the tensions see what happens if the needle is too tight or too loose. Same with loopers. Also try different types and weight of fabric. Once you have played for a while start trying to balance your stitches. Mostly it just takes time and practice!

In the knitting community, we have a "thing" called Finish It February, where you pull out your UFOs and work on them (or decide you're not going to finish them and you're now allowed to use that yarn for something else). It's not something that I personally have ever felt compelled to do, but a lot of people enjoy it and find it very productive. I don't know what it is about February, though.

Those lightbulb safety pins make great stitch markers for knitting or crochet. They're particularly great because they're cheap and easy to interchange charms onto to distinguish which marker marks your beginning of round when knitting in the round. I know you got a blanket kit at some point (stitch markers can help you keep track of repeats, even if the pattern doesn't tell you they're necessary)... so maybe you'll get back into knitting and progress to making knitted accessories for your period outfits or knitted/crocheted accents depending on the time period. I know my gran had crocheted collars from her mom... so 1920s or earlier.

I enjoy all your videos so don’t worry! The dinosaur purses are amazing! So much fun.
I’ve been trying to clean up and get rid of things around here. But with my squirrel brain it’s ended up that I have donation boxes and bags in almost every room of the house!! Grandson has grown almost 2 1/2 inches since March!! So there’s a big pile of his old stuff! If I could stay in one room I might get somewhere!
I also as a true devout follower of procrastination nation have been cleaning instead of making a gift for a friend!! Of course my cleaning involves making a mess so now I have to find my sewing desk and ironing board before I can start!!

Small projects and clearing out things are always worthy tasks! Thanks for the company as I was re-stringing beads to couch onto a dress which I might wear to the Edwardian Ball, depending on if covid rates make it seem safe to attend. I'm always tempted by silks so I kind of want to go back through the video and check what you might be unloading . . . but my own stash is overflowing also so I shall resist!

Honestly loving “small project bannanza” it’s definitely making me want to do better about cleaning and organizing my fabric and things. I have been washing my fabric that haven’t been already that I know of. I’ve got all the ideas of things I want to make. Decision paralysis… 😬
I have been making underwear for my self so that’s a thing. Im excited for ones that fit and stay in place where I want. Still have some tweaking to go on a couple of patterns but the couple I have made are still comfy and not punchy at all!
I hope your health has come back and that you are recovering it sounds like you had a rough start to the month with everything going on. 🌻❤️

Squee! My card made it! I'm so glad you liked it, I love that set of note cards. Second favorite purchase from the museum of textiles gift shop, after the gorgeous silk dress cut I spent too much money on.

Not me always drooling over gorgeous fabrics that I couldn’t ever use but still want lol. There’s a lot less possibility in menswear 😞 though one day maybe I’ll be brave enough to try some 18th century stuff.

Linings are a good place to secretly hide some gorgeous fabric that is all for you!!

I am really just hoping you make a watermelon type dress out of that green and pink fabric. February was okay, I crocheted a hat, it was fine.

In your drawer with the pattern weights insert some little open boxes or skinny plastic food savers to corral the tapes that are standing up so when you take the weights out they don’t fall over.

I read the trilogy of Discovery of Witches in 3 weeks the first time, I truly wish they had stuck closer to the books for the series but…
I would love to create her coat she wore back to modern times.
Sometimes the streaming service runs a free week, that is the best time to view the newest season.

Hey Noelle, I'm nearly finished with my new single, I have 1 and 1/2pages left, and I have 2 days off this week so I will be streaming on Wednesday night, I'm currently listening to Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson, very good read, and very intriguing, too.
