Actually the Rav4 is closer in size...I think the hybrid makes 305hp...our old 3.5 V6 from 2011 makes 269...and it's not hybrid, and also a very good engine....So I really think toyota took a step backwards with the Rav4.
After about 10 Jeeps in our family of 5 people. Not including my dads 1940? 2 1, 2, or 3. ( I don’t remember exactly which yr) jeep Willey’s which my brother still drives. But, anyways.
Yep we used to be a Jeep family as of March of this yr when Scotty suggested to get a 2016 Toyota Highlander. I believe it’s one of the best cars we have ever drove. Owned . / guess what we haven’t had any real problems😅😂😊
Our last Jeep 2014 grand Cherokee with all the bells & whistles. V8 funnist car to drive. Great in the snow. But what a nightmare when it did go out. It was in the shop from July 28th 2022 to March ? 2023. The alternator was fried. & CARSHEILD wouldn’t fix it. Even though we had the best insurance they gave. But it also needed a bunch of other work . Like airbags that make the car go up & down to get in for short people. Tranny was acting up & it needed a newer air conditioner etc… so we paid for the alternator & found a dealer that had our BEST CAR a Toyota Highlander. & traded. Both cars had under 100, thou. Miles Toyota had less miles. Our other jeeps were better but they were either braking down or in accidents non we are faults. In fact each were. T boned.
The Jeeps were great until that last one. Said we would never buy another one.
My hubby back in 82 bought a New off the lot 82 Toyota SR5 what a lemon from the word go. The tranny went out with less then 200 to 500 miles. Then when he go out of the Navy in 84. He came back to MT. & the engine went out in 85. He always said he would Never buy another Toyota. But Scotty changed his mind. & He picked out this High Lander& it has been a great vehicle. & it’s fun to drive& handles pretty good in the weather we have had so far.
Enough of this book I’m writing. You all have a Great day& God Bless.
Everywhere says the Land Cruiser would be around 50k base..... That 20k was a tease lol
Are you smoking crack? You can’t get a golf cart for $20K 😒
If you don't mind incessant wind noise and turbo lag, and tank like handling, then you are a jeep customer! All suckers aboard!!!@
I’m glad you mentioned the land cruiser in the last 30 seconds to let us know it’ll be no where near 20k
So where's the $20k Land Cruiser?
Land Criuser was up to 80 or 90K$
for a shoe box on wheels@@jerryray808
Exactly
The new one will supposedly start around $55K.
20k down lol
Can't wait to order one of those $20,000 Land Cruisers. I mean... Why buy a Corolla when you can get a Land Cruiser for less??? 😂
Toyota's website says the 2024 Landcruiser starts in the mid 50s. I don't know where he got the 20K number.
Scotty Kilmer does that sh*t on purpose to trick viewers into watching his videos. Kind of a douche move if you ask me.
I was wondering the same thing. Where does the $20,000 even come from? He doesn't even say that in the video! 😂I thought that price seemed unlikely and I was thinking maybe it starts at like 20 something (like 29,999) and he just put 20,000 for dramatic effect....but then he says $50,000! That's not even the same ballpark.
@@FormulaJRay In most videos he's mentioned cost like that, it's in other countries, not the US.
If you want an automatic transmission and a V6, you have to pay 4500$….4 cylinder and auto is 2500$. What is up with that?
I have a 2018 Wrangler JL. My first American brand vehicle bought brand new. I have had Toyotas, a Honda, a Mazda and BMW's. I've had so many visits to the Jeep dealer in the past 4 years than all the previous visits combined for all other cars I have owned in my lifetime! Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy driving it, I off road several times a year and it is fun. It's holding up for now, there is a leak in the rear main seal that I will get fixed under extended warranty/which I got free through Jeep. That was a win for me! I plan on keeping it as long as it will run, but I will never buy a Jeep product ever again!
I don't think you can buy the front floor mats for $20,000 dollars for a Land Cruiser.
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser SUV is set to resume its rightful place as one of the best off-roaders on the market. We expect pricing to start at around $55,000.
@@DirtySallysweetsally with the dealership markup of $20,000, so it will start at $75,000.
@@DirtySallysweetsally Glad you can afford it. I would NEVER buy a new car..ever ever, especially since the dealerships make more on repairs than selling them, and the manufacturers noticed this and changed how everything was made...best cars are from 1955-1974 then about 1992-2015....Almost all the other years are JUNK.
😂😂😂😂
@@DirtySallysweetsally So basically more than a house used to sell for... Hey there's a sucker born every minute!
$20,000? Yeah take that times 4
Times 5!
You cannot even get a new Corolla base model for $20k
Shame on Scotty lol got me excited for a second, till I googled it 😂 😢
The price is missing a “0”.
You can get it for $20,000. However if you want one with a ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION....$60,000😂
I’ve owned probably 10 Jeeps in my life and I loved everyone of them. The problem anymore is they are too expensive. I wanted a Gladiator when they first came out but the price kept it out of reach so I bought a Tacoma. I love my Toyota and I will probably never go back to Jeep. Stellantis needs to start dropping prices instead of jacking them up if they want to sell vehicles. People can’t afford new vehicles because of the ridiculous sticker prices, dealer markups and interest rates.
Or maybe man up and stop working at McDonalds.
If they are so good why you had so many
That’s the problem. You’ve owned 10 of them lol
Had a compass ,,,what a pos !
Love all my Wranglers but it's insane how expensive they've gotten. I'm keeping my 2 door '19 Rubicon but the goofy decision making on engine options for the '24 had me ordering a 2 Door Bronco Badlands. Jeep can't get out of their own way.
Jeep prices have gone way too high. Thats why they aren't selling.
I cannot image a new Land Cruiser is going to cost $20k because I can barely find a base Corolla for under $20k that's under 3 years old
its going to start at 55K. With dealer markups at Toyota out the door it will be 70K.
@@shanemcandrew2443 pretty much. Although the windy window base model wranglers are like 40k soooooo yeah
Scotty is being dishonest.
@@gdholmfirthWhat a shocker
@@shanemcandrew2443😂I said 45 to 60k
A Land Cruiser for $20,000 is a Scottyism. Like most headlines it’s job is to get attention. And it has.
Still a dishonest tactic to get viewers.
Yeah, and he has put himself on deaths bed a couple of times... not a good look.@@jasonk19xx17
I had a 2008 Wrangler Sport for 8 years. I bought it with 10k miles and sold it with 90k miles. Other than brakes and tires, I didn't have anything break. It had a few annoyances, but overall was a great vehicle. I miss it. I just got tired of driving a standard transmission.
Make trucks lo-tech again.
I don't need an imax theater, ai steering controls and 360⁰ radar in my vehicle. Cut all that crap out and its probably half the cost of a modern vehicle.
Exactly
Couple things:
Jeep owners love their jeeps, they love their ducks, they ALL mod their jeep to some degree. Never seen one not modded in some way and I live in Florida... They obviously don't care about reliability or mpg.
The new land cruiser is 50k, not 20k. Likely a typo and will have a large dealer markup.
A large reason Jeep sales are lower is because they couldn't get the components. The chips. They still have issues fulfilling what they need.
Will some Jeep owners switch over, sure. Will most just keep getting Jeeps, yup.
As a Jeep lover in Ohio, I don't understand the ducks....
@@elgastsos210
I don't think any of us do.
Even when Scotty was rattling off the prices in the video I just shake my head.
The most expensive model, over $90,000.... That's almost 2 years of my income.
Pure insanity
80% still on the road so 20% made it home lol lol 😂
20% pushed off the cliff.
🤣🤣🤣 80% are still broke down on the road. Good one 🤣🤣🤣
Love your comments. Looolllll
I wanted a Rubicon for the longest time, then I found my FJ Cruiser…🥰 I guess I’ll be keeping it for another 200.000 miles.
The FJ is just as overhyped as the Jeep is. Not to mention fugly.
@@nodak81 FJ will last longer than any Jeep product though
Smell antis dealers: Those rubes i conned bought a Rubicon! Heh heh... they'll be back!
Good call. Nobody is doing that with a Jeep. 👍
I’ve never had a Wrangler, but have owned a 93 Cherokee for 12 years now. Straight 6 4.0 motor, 5 speed manual transmission, and 4wd. Mpg is 18-20, but it’s been very reliable and not expensive to fix
Mine is a 2000 cherokee sport. 256k miles. Needs a little work here and there and is barely driven. Don't really need anything else. Looks and runs great and easy and cheap to fix.
2003 300k miles running like a champ
That 4.0 was pretty bullet proof.
That is a unicorn! They will never produce such a great car again - it was a design mistake - too reliable. LOL
Had a 1994 Wrangler YJ with 4.0 High Output straight six. It was reliable and very good off road. Wasn't the 4.0 in these Jeeps a AMC Rambler 4 cylinder engine that they added two more cylinder to the design of the engine?
I'm really liking the format of these videos. I've never owned a Jeep and I didn't want to be part of the herd because I live in Arizona desert and a lot of people buy them to go tooling around in the sticks. My first 4x4 was a '94 Highlux that I made into sort of a sleeper. I regeared it with matched gears because of the larger tires. With the diffs open I installed Detroit Locker's front and rear. Others laughed because I didn't have a winch until they saw it in action. I did end up being part of the Sheriff's Posse instead of a club.
I've only owned I6 jeeps. Had issues with the interior, but that engine was legendarily reliable.
Bought a Yuppie Jeep (YJ) when I was in college. It was an Inline 6 with 200k (well maintained ) I drove it to 295K sold it to a friend who drove it to 320K and sold it all the while working like a Swiss watch. Not so great at gas milage but darn good engine. Only thing I had to do was replace drivers wheel bearing (actually did both).
own several wranglers. fun with top off and doors off. have a 2009 5 years now and no trouble. paid $10000 in 2018. with 80,000 miles, 3.8L engine, auto, pw, pl, cruise. always reliable. live bottom of steep hill and its good to know the 4wd will go thru the snow.
I thought the Jeep Wrangler rode like a log wagon when I tried one years ago. We did buy a Jeep Cherokee and later a Grand Cherokee. Of course this was in the 90's. They weren't too bad in the quality department. When Stelantis took over they turned into overpriced junk. So sad.
Chrysler has been overpriced junk for the last 60 years. They were always #3 domestically for a good reason.
@@nodak81 The Jeeps that used the 4.0 inline six were solid and reliable, but Chrysler can't even take credit for that, because it was AMC's design.
Where is the _20,000 Toyota?
Scotty, What are you smoking with that thumbnail you posted?
He did post that he was dying about a week ago 🤔
I have two friends that both own Jeep Wranglers. One is a 2008, the other a 2014. Both vehicles along with the two local dealerships close to us have been absolute nightmares. The 2008 was originally purchased with a "Forever Drivetrain Warranty" and when it blew a head gasket at 240K, we found out very quickly both Dealer Service Departments had no idea what they were doing. Due the 3.8 Liter Engine had high miles, the Warranty Company recommended the Dealer replace the Engine. The first engine they got they found out after installation that the engine was seized. A second Engine was procured and due they forgot to put the Transmission Dipstick in prior to installing the engine, they had to pull the Engine back out again to install the dipstick. It then took them 2 months to figure out why the engine would not run correctly which they finally figured out it needed a new Engine Computer. All in all it took them 8 MONTHS to finally figure out what was wrong between the engine and the computer. The 2014 has had SIGNIFICANT front end death wobble issues that no one can figure out and sadly it is unsafe to drive over 35 mph. Honestly I would not trust a Chrysler Dealer's Service department with a model Ship Building Kit. I'll tell you neither of my friends will ever buy another Chrysler product ever again. Look at the Consumer Reports ratings, just about every vehicle Chrysler makes is on the "Do Not Buy" List.
Amen. Everyone one needs to own at least one Dodge product, first and last.
Amen.
Japanese vehicles are top tier and have strict quality protocols. Hate to say it but the American and German auto industry is just not up to par. All looks, no mechanical integrity.
I mean I could be crazy but it got to 240k before it blew the head gasket?! That's pretty good is it not?
Wow. That is horrible. Blew a head gasket at 144 miles (240K -kilometers). That's barely driving off the dealer's lot. Very bad.
Jeep needs to be its own brand and car company... not Owen by a foreign company... Make it American again like it was back in the 70's and 80's
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I picked up a discounted Jeep Gladiator.
I’m hoping the reliability gods will look favorably upon me regardless of my folly.
Owning a Jeep is like playing Russian roulette, you're pulling the trigger every time you turn the key.
9:56 For those who don't know, the "previous Land Cruiser" was actually the full size J200 that was succeeded by the J300 and is not available in the US (The LX Lexus equivalent is available, however). As for the "New Land Cruiser", it's actually the J250 which is the fifth gen Land Cruiser Prado that was never sold in US before (Except for the GX Lexus equivalent) until now. Being renamed as just "Land Cruiser".
wrangler will crush the landcruiser in every single off road catergory.. Just like the current Land cruisers, I will see NONE of them on the trail. but I will see tons of Jeeps with the doors and roof off. another big thing that toyota doesn't have. Bring the FJ cruiser back and you might have a video. also finally there will be NONE read this NONE of the 20k dollar land cruisers on lots ever
The last Wrangler I owned, which was my third, started pumping oil after only 60 000km. When I brought it to the dealer for servicing they told me that the company considered it « normal » for the Jeep to take up to 1 liter per 1000km! I told them they were full of crap and that they would never again have me as a customer. Afterwards, I traded in my JK for a 4Runner which I still own and appreciate 11 years later!
I got my 2 door JK new in 2012 and it was my everyday vehicle for 10 years for both work commute and travel sports driving around VA. It is probably my favorite vehicle from the ones I had. In 11 years I had only 2 relatively cheap repairs and rest was regular maintenance. My son drives it now in college and I recently got myself jeep 4xe. It is too early to tell how it will last but I like 4xe a lot.
Back in HS a friend bought a 78 Jeep Honcho pickup truck. Had a 360 cubic inch V8 and manual transmission. That was a very cool truck. I would buy a truck like that if they still sold them. 😊
Wow!
You definitely put a lot of work into this video.
My wife and I both watched it together and she stated that you made it fun to watch.
Nice video Scotty!
👍🏼👍🏾
Ram
I owned a ' 97 wrangler. Was an excellent vehicle. I didnt put much money into it in the way of maintenance over the years. Only thing out of ordinary in 10 yearxs was water pump and thermostat. Other than that just normal maintenance. I love your videos. Thank you.
Those were great. 👍
I loved my 2013 JK Sport-S, and used it as both daily driver and frequent off-road desert adventurer (definitely 4x4 and high clearance needed environment). I actually enjoyed being able to do nearly all the work myself, saving tons vs. dealer cost. At 110k miles, the engine suddenly failed badly, and needed either a full rebuild or replacement, neither of which I could tolerate due to timing. I might have been just unlucky, but there were never any indicators something was wrong, and I never missed a maintenance cycle. The mechanics I talked with said they had seen a higher percentage of engine failures on this model than most others. I'd have liked to drive that JK another 10 years if I could.
I had the same thing (Commando Green!) I had found the cooling system clogged with CASTING SAND from the factory! I bought it used in the late fall and noticed that it would only blow luke-warm air out of the vents during the colder winter days... I eventually discovered that the whole cooling system was clogged with casting sand. Made the dealership pay for all kinds of repairs because of that. Do you live somewhere warmer, where you don't use your hot air much in the cabin? Makes me wonder, a lot of people driving around with that issue that don't notice it because they live in warmer climates.
@@parentaladvisory66 that's an astute comment! I do live in a mostly hot climate, but definitely was able to get crazy good heat when needed at some wintery mountain moments, and a couple other travels. I suspect the casting sand is exactly what killed my engine. It started all of a sudden, and then 3 days later my engine sounded like it was about to throw rods. No codes were tripped, but it was getting dangerous fast. Ugh - I loved that Jeep. Wish I had the time to fix/replace the engine but alas, life called and I grabbed the first Honda I could get.
@@dc716716 Ugh sorry to hear that.. catastrophic engine failures are not fun to deal with (been there, done that). Good luck in the Honda. Remember there's always a Jeep for sale somewhere
Lucky guy, mine blew up at 80k
but $50000 to $90000, way to much. price will kill wrangler.
My 2008 Jeep JK Rubicon Unlimited has never failed to get me from Point A to Point B
Great video - appreciate the deep dive into the history of Jeep Wrangler. Also enjoyed the comparison to the Bronco and Land Cruiser. I've always wanted a Wrangler but can't justify it for how and where I drive. Never really considered the Bronco, but loved the old Land Cruisers. Not sure I'd consider the LC since its relatively new, but the other vehicle you recently reviewed is absolutely on my short list as I consider an update - helloooo 4Runner!
Love this format, Scotty. Keep up the good work.
I got a JL in 2019. It has actually been a solid vehicle (120k miles) albeit very expensive to upkeep. I do think this will be my only 1 and only Jeep. But mostly because of how expensive their vehicles have gotten. I got a sport s for $32k, that same vehicle now is over $46k before taxes and all the other dealer rip offs. That’s not exclusive to Jeep but there is just no way I would pay that for the same vehicle.
How is a "solid vehicle" expensive to upkeep? 😂
I owned a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and loved every minute in it. I decided to move up to a 2022 Jeep Gladiator. I love the looks, the handling, all the options and the aftermarket parts. I’m retired now and I get to enjoy life to its fullest.
Always had Jeeps and Tacoma's . When Gladiator came out sold my 17'' Tacoma for a 21 Gladiator love the truck zero issues so far
2018 jeep Rubicon owner still an awesome vehicle
I love your videos @scottykilmer but advertising a video that a new LC is $20k is deceptive to your fans.
I'll take an older Jeep with a 4.0 engine and a 6 speed manual transmission. None of the computer crap or electronic ignition. If an EMP hits, I'll just pull out spare point and condensers from a faraday bag.
I have a 1999 jeep wrangler Sahara in my garage. 1/4 million miles on it without a problem except the frame finally rested out. still sits in my garage because I can’t give it up. Maybe I’ll replace the frame. Still runs great.
Good analysis. But where's this twenty thousand dollar land cruiser???
These review/educational type videos are awesome!!
You do such a good job with them! The quality is top, I’m sure spend a lot of time making and editing the video. And it shows, I love and appreciate these types of videos!
Love these videos thanks for the research and work! Keep it ip
I bought a Jeep Patriot Limited 2009. It was when Cerberus offered a lifetime Powertrain Warranty. I drove that vehicle 25,000 a year for 10 years! 2 sets of CV joints, Air intake manifold, Rear Differential all covered under warranty. Dur to the warranty I loved that car but maybe not so much without it. Cost? $25,000 which with the rebate and employee discount it was $20,000. That deal will never happen again in my lifetime. I did love that car, even with all the hard plastic.
20k? In another dimension 😂😂😂 20k is a joke
Who would pay near $100k for a Jeep Wrangler? In late 90's early y2k $100k got you some exotic cars or a very high-end fully loaded car. Now it gets you a jeep? Or f150? Or an electric powered paper weight? Pass on all. I would rather get the integra type s and a mazda 3 with manual for same $100k. Those 2 cars would last me near rest of my life. Im 45
My mom bought herself a wrangler in the early 90's. This was after driving a station wagon for 30 years, A jimmy for 6. She said it was the best car she ever had. It also brought out her lead foot that she never had
I'm on my 3rd Wrangler. None of them have been modified. My 2014 got 84,00 trouble free miles. My 2021 lasted 6500 miles until someone ran a red light and totaled it. My current 2021 Sahara 2.0 is at 70,000. Since I'm retired, I hope to drive it another 100,000 miles. As to whether I'll buy another one is still up in the air. They have become really expensive and that will make a difference. But as long as I can climb up into the drivers seat I probably will. Other than normal wear and tear items I have had no problems or complaints.
The more complex cars get the less reliable they become. Make just pickups and 4x4s less complex such as manual transmission and outside locking hubs and shift lever transfer cases and hand crank windows and they would sell the heck out of them!
Car companies don't care. They want to keep selling $100k trucks full of technological garbage and there's a never-ending line of suckers willing to buy them. The other part of the problem is the EPA and DOT mandates.
Exactly, I've been looking for months for an old manual jeep,to sleep in roadtrip. Something reliable & very safety conscious in our very dangerous country now.! Perhaps a bulletproof, fortified 4,×4? Not even kidding😔
I’ll bet a big part of the profit comes from all those items folks have been trained to feel they “need” on a vehicle. I am with you folks that simple is best. And by the way, Chrysler taught me. In 1983 not to buy any more of their vehicles.
Our local Dodge/Jeep dealers are overflowing. I like the Bronco's except they have those wretched ECO-BOOST engines.
Great information. Thank you for the work you put into it!
My daughter has a Jeep 4-door and according to her, the best part of her car is that she bought bumper-to-bumper additional insurance. Every year, she pays her $100 deductible for thousands of dollars in repairs that include computer, engine, wipers that start by themselves, transmission, axles, and you name it. the car is about 6-7 years old. When this car dies, she will get something else.
Well, I own a 2017 Jeep Wrangler 75th anniversary edition and simply the problems are just one after another. 4th gear synchro if you don’t slam the gear lever, basically it grinds. At a exactly 100k, I have to basically take down the engine apart all the way to the oil filter housing to replace that part with an aluminum replacement because the housing is made out of cheap plastic. Also replace ignition coils, spark plugs and thermostat housing. At the end of the day is a “Jeep”…..(Just Empty Every Pocket).
I had an 03 TJ for 7 years and it always had something to fix. It rattled and rode like a bouncy brick. The 4.0 MPG was crazy bad but we used it for around town driving. It was easy to park and maneuver in traffic. It was a fun experience but we eventually sold it so we could have a more efficient, comfortable and reliable auto. When considering whether to get a new Jeep the prices ended the discussion and we bought a new CRV. The Jeep was fun but we don’t miss it that much. Now we don’t get a wave, lol.
I had a bare bones 95 rio grande. Roll up windows, 5sp manual, analog gauges and 4x4. 18 years and the only things it ever needed was brakes and tires. 140,000 miles on the same clutch. Living up north, it rusted the frame so I had to trade in my old friend. One of the worst days of my life.
I have Tj 2001 4.0 with 228,000 and still running with original motor and transmission. Love it.
I just want to know about the New $20,000 Land Cruiser. I guess it doesn't exist. ????
It's 4x that . 80k.. and by the time you leave the stealer ship probably 100k plus.. you could buy a house for what these new cars cost.
You can find it along with the Unicorns.
If it were 40 years ago, maybe if it's a base model with no A/C
@@kclefthanded427
Were they even that price 40 years ago?
Thanks for the update🤙🏾
I’ve owned 4 jeeps from my first CJ 5 to a Wrangler Sport 2006,
All were standard shift setup cept the 06 . My 94 Wrangler was the most efficient being just a 4 cylinder but it went everywhere and I never had a problem except catalytic converter. Even with a 3 inch lift it was fine.
All the Jeep’s had a shimmy problem about 45 mph if lifted.
The newer ones even worse as a friend of mine called it a death wobble 😂
My Jeep sport had a straight 6 with automatic transmission lots of problems one after another sold it with only 137 k because the tranny about gave out.
These are fun vehicles if your off-road enthusiast which I am.
I’m now looking for an older model with a standard shift as changing a clutch is easier than a heavy automatic to me.. the new ones are too expensive and maintenance is crazy.. thanks again!😊
Amen 👍
I’ve always wanted a Jeep Wrangler. Last year I sold my 13 yr old truck that I’ve owned from new. Jeep was just does not have the value; price is high and know for issues. Thanks to you I got a Tacoma. I lien the Tacoma much more than I thought I would. I’m a Tacoma guy for life now.
Nice video editing and content. Lotsa info as usual.
$20,000 will be the “market adjustment”
I had a 2007 Jeep wrangler 4 door Sahara model, I leased it because it was my first Jeep and a New model. I put 36000 miles on it and took it across the country and into the desert in Utah over all it was dependable but the windshield was replaced twice during the time I owned it and it had some random electrical issue which caused it to not start on two occassions, it was fun but I didn't keep it and turned it in at the end of the lease. I think they are cheaply made and overpriced for what they are.
I own a 2016 2dr JK. The torque converter started to fail at 47k miles. I do take care of my vehicles with routine maintenance and I change the oil with full synthetic at every 5k miles. I have 60k and the transmission is starting to slip. When the torque converter started to fail I was 3 months out of warranty for powertrain and I called Jeep and they said there was nothing they could do since it was out of warranty. It's a fun vehicle to drive, but I'll never buy one again.
Bought a used 2018 wrangler sport s in March of this year. It is my daily driver and I flat out love it. I’ve put over 30,000 miles on it so far this year. No issues at all and rides way better than I expected. The 3.6 L engine has been great. I test drove the wrangler back in the early 90s in that model road so harsh that I decided not to get one. The new JL is night and day far is right quality goes.
LOL When I bought my early 90's (92) Wrangler in college coming from a 1974 CJ 5 , the 92 felt like a Cadillac LOL Oh and it was the first Jeep that had a heater that heated more than your feet :)
Well done, Scotty! Love the research format. Informative and entertaining
👍
Kilmer is like the National Enquirer for cars.
I bought my 2 door, soft top JK new in 2017. Currently has 66K+ miles with no issues. It’s my daily driver. I’m a firm believer in routine maintenance. While it definitely doesn’t ride like a Cadillac it will take me places you would never take a Caddie. I refer to it as my All Purpose Car - it takes me anywhere I want to go. At 74, I may not buy another vehicle, but if I do, it will be another one, if they are still in production. As a side note, my wife drives a Subaru Forester.
I grew up with 1942 Ford Willys Jeep. I learned to drive stick with my dad’s Jeep
I wish it was 20k, if it was i'd be buying one 💀
Had a Rubicon for 8 months. When you slowed down the heater would blow fire or if you had the heater on it would switch to ice cold A/C. This would go back and forth all day. Getting hot/cold just come to a stop and the system would switch. Jeep had our vehicle 3 different times for a total of 48 days. At the end we were told “it’s operating as designed, it had no flaws” even though they acknowledged it wasn’t working. Back to Toyota we went and are once again happy people.
Great video by you and the tea, Scotty hope to see more
Scotty, I have owned 2 jeeps, A 94 YJ and a 2008 JKU Sahara. I loved both machines, however the JKU had too many mechanical issues to list, and the YJ had more rust then I knew how to fix. While I love my jeeps, the next vehicle I am looking at is Bronco. , unless I can get a International Scout lol .
I had the 95 YJ and I can confirm the rust issue. The engine and transmission however was rock solid.
My last car was a Ford. The rust was a real issue. Be wary of the Bronco.
I love my Jeep Wrangler gets me through all the bad weather flooding roads, snow packed unplowed areas. And in the summer it’s my convertible doors and top off. Nothing compares to the versatility of a Wrangler.
Whenever I see a guy in a Jeep with the doors and top off. I know he's on his way to buy soy milk at Whole Foods.
@@nodak81guess u don't live in Michigan then...
@@nodak81😂😂😂😂
@@nodak81 Most of the people I see driving Jeep Wranglers in my area are teenage girls that their rich parents bought them for graduation gifts
the graphic work put into these videos is astounding.
2019 wrangler 4dr with the 3.6 engine no real problems. 97,000 km with only scheduled service and recent f/r brake repair, no recalls. It’s ok as a pavement daily driver but much better on gravel/dirt/snow. For ice/snow Canadian winter, I use Firestone Blizzaks for rural commuting before the snow plow is out. The Wrangler has a dedicated following they doesn’t carry across the Jeep product line. I guess it’s not for everyone.
Hi Scotty, love the production and editing of your videos.
You were late.
@@phatgringo2.0 I didn't want top comment.
Me too.
Try $50,000 Land Cruiser.
Thanks for your videos, always very informative
I love your videos...your voice, optimism and obvious knowledge and experience come thru to educate us us...thanks
I own a 2013 Wrangler. Best vehicle I've ever owned. I enjoyed it all 10 years. I drive it daily and I'm happy with its feel and performance. People shouldn't expect it to ride like a luxury vehicle. But it's smooth enough for me! Jeep 👋😎 Wave!!!!
Had 2005 wrangler willys edition, totaled it in an accident but I didn't get hurt. As far as reliability, I had no complaints. Performance wise, back then, the in-line 6 with automatic transmission, was weak going up steep hills at highway speeds. I own a 2022 4runner now, and consider it to be the best made, well-rounded, most versatile, likeable suv ever designed.
I have a 2020 SR5 4 Runner. I have owned Cherokees, Mitsubishi, Tahoe, Land ROver series 3 Disco, and now the 4 Runner. 4 Runner is a Solid build....but not my fav (which was the LR3)....but a good solid ride without a lot of bells and whistles. A keeper.
ALL Jeeps are a labor of love... I've had a CJ, two YJs, a TJ, an XJ, a ZJ, and a WJ. The WJ was head and shoulders above the rest with the TJ being a nice second. But THESE prices? This is F'n MADNESS.
I had a Jeep CJ-7 1976 it was a great machine and full of fun. The only issue I ever had was a rear oil seal leak, cost $75 to fix. It also cost me only $4700 . Man do I miss that vehicle
Had an 84 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer. It caught on fire when I was driving it down the road in 1994 when it had 88,000 miles on it.
Scotty, I enjoy these in depth videos. I appreciate the work that goes into them. I hope the new Toyota LC will be able to be flat towed behind a motorhome. Many motorhome owners, myself included, choose Jeep because they’re easy to tow.
Like ALL your videos. These are most informative and not full of fluff. More full of facts. Big help knowing the crazy prices too. I myself will never switch from Toyota no matter what. That being said the all seem to have that boxy look which I personally think is great ! Thanks for an always great job.
No no no dude, you cannot buy a third of a Land Cruiser for 20 grand
I really like these short documentaries you do Scotty!!
08 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7L Hemi V-8 AWD 130K 2nd owner excellent maintenance now needing front axle and 3rd set of tires
Scotty loves it when Toyota beats jeep😂
Haha, he sure does😂
They are $75,000 for base model at my local dealership!
When you go to the dealer, don't listen to what the dealer says unless you see the proof. If you walk to kia dealer right now and you ask for the price on the ev9 you are going to hear high price from some guys or when you sit down to place the order it is different.
A sales tactic is saying an outrageous price to begin with (any product/service)....then when they tell the real price, you think u are getting such a good price u buy it without shopping around
$90k for a Jeep?
I don’t think so, Tim.
still drive 1999 sport. Love it. No drive train problems. 4.0 straight six, 5 speed standard shift. Over years had to replace standard stuff. radiator, water pump, alternator etc. allot of rust problems with under side. over past five years have repaired and replaced most of frame. Recommend under coat entire underside other than tail pipe.
Unfortunately most Jeep and bronco owners never go off road so the market is shifting to a better road handling and less off road capability. Despite all the quality issue I would say Jeep is still the most capable vehicle of the one you reviewed. For serious off roading independent front suspension just doesn’t cut it …travel is too limited
For serious off-roading you build a custom vehicle with an aftermarket suspension. So what type of vehicle you start with matters little.
Great video Scotty. Reliability is one thing I wished Fiat fixed about Chrysler. When Fiat took over and introduced a new lineup of cars (Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Dodge Dart, Chrysler 200, etc) I thought that would be the new life for Chrysler. Morale was high, and FCA saw operating profit margins never imagined in the auto industry. But reliability took its toll, and within 9 years of FCA being conceived, it was sold to Peugeot. It’s not like the quality of anything built by Chrysler has to be bad. It is bad because auto leaders don’t care about quality. I think a lot more people would buy Jeeps, Dodges, and Chryslers if they were built to last. Jeep had it all and blew it. I don’t know how they can still exist. Especially now with the new CEO from Peugeot; he doesn’t care a sht about people’s jobs or anything and keeps closing facilities. At least the FCA guy (Sergio Marchionne) who led Chrysler out of bankruptcy cared for his employees and built high morale.
F.I.A.T. = Fix It Again Tony!
@@DJ-kh8ifAgree. The damn things were never built right.
I had a 2016 jk sport , a 2019 Jk sport with modify suspension and tires which I took it several times off road and the only issue was a leak on the rear main that was replace by warranty very quick and no other issues at all I found it very reliable a fun , now I’m on my 3r jeep rubicon 4xe 2023 and love it so far
I appreciate all the research & breaking it down so it’s easier for a non motor head to absorb. THANKS!
