I have the pleasure of fixing Hondas and Acura’s everyday for work and the most engine work you’ll do on a Honda is a symbol 4 routine maintenance valve adjustment timing belt and water pump other then that you might have to throw some rings on a v6 here and there but nothing to major

@@aab434 Worlds apart yes, but TLX and ILX are made on the same assembly line as Accord and CRV. They produce a lot of Accords then roll through a lot of ILX, sometimes with no gap, one right after the other. Assembly processes are similar, sometimes identical. That being said I'd much rather have an ILX or TLX than an Accord or Civic.

As a former tech and now service advisor at Acura, these don't have too many issues. On some ILX's, there's a service bulletin for a TCM update and relearn procedure if the owner is experiencing a hard downshift to 1st gear when slowing down. There's also a driveshaft inspection recall campaign active right now as well. Other than that, about 50k miles per transmission service, but its a fluid change and a reset procedure on the TCM, so it's a bit more on the labor vs the standard .7 hours on the old 6 speed units.

It all depends on who owned them before. I had a T100 (my first truck) but the previous owner(s) didn't take care of it. However I was able to sell it for cheap at 220000 miles. There was so many problems with it. I just bought an Integral '93 well taken care of and I'm the second owner. Not much goes wrong with the car just give it TLC. If the T100 previous owners took care of the truck I'd still be driving it along side my Integra.

My 2015 4 cylinder 8 speed TLX has been fantastic and is honestly just as reliable so far as any other Honda product I have owned in the past.. at first I was sceptical about the transmission because the shifts were harsh in cold weather but once you get used to the warm up you don’t even think about it. Other than that I’ve put 60,000kms in the last 2 years and I haven’t had a single issue. The car is totally solid and comfortable. It’s fast and good on gas, the electronic features are excellent and I’ve been spoiled now with this high quality luxury that when I get into a brand new mustang, Audi or even a Mercedes I appreciate how well built my Honda really is. I think it’s the best vehicle choice for a smart all around luxury vehicle

Just got one too. 8,500 miles when I got it, had one oil change, prior owner couldn’t make payments.
Fun little car. With a turbo it would be awesome to drive, although the recent Honda turbo gasoline mixing in oil make me worry.
It is like a luxury civic, fun thing to toss around. My prior car was Pontiac g8 got, had a 6.0 V-8. I miss that car but was it a heavy beast. Totally different driving dynamics. I’d advise everyone to own or lease a big American V-8 and a little 4 banger like this due to driving dynamics being totally different. Life all about trying new things, I’m glad we live in a world where both exist

I am slightly a fan of the 2016 to 2018 Acura ILX with the 2.4 L four-cylinder engine with a little over 200 horsepower and the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. These cars are the best to own and to drive, especially if you are a new driver, experienced driver or if you are planning to get one for your first vehicle. This is a lot better than a 2006 to 2015 Honda Civic with the 1.8 L four-cylinder engine with 140 horsepower and the five-speed/CVT automatic transmission.

I'm all about the Acura/Honda love. I had a 2005 Acura TL that I foolishly leased. I put nearly 70,000 miles on it in 3 years and never had a single problem.
After I turned it in I purchased a 2010 Honda Accord 4 cylinder. 225K miles later and I've still not encountered a single issue with it. Aside from your basic maintenance, the only things I've replaced are the battery and starter on that baby girl. She never ceases to amaze me, and I abuse the hell out of her daily. I also put the cheapest gas in the tank at all times. Zero issues. Honda for life kids!

My fiancé owns a 2017 ILX. Drove it from Sacramento CA to Spokane Washington and back. No problems at all! Zippy and sippy is what it is!

I have a 2016 rdx with 26k miles on it. I drive about 6k miles a year now. It’s so comfortable!! Remote start works from the grocery store line. The cooled seats are a life saver in the heat. And the handling and acceleration beats any lexus suv!

Just bought a 2018 ILX, so far so good. Truly is a dream to drive. I got the stripped-down, black on black model like the one shown here, best for enthusiast driving in my opinion - nothing to fiddle with and distract yourself from the road. This video made me aware of the car's existence (I used to know all the cars, features, etc. but they've gotten way ahead of me!), so thank you Scotty for making it! My '08 Civic EX-L has 237,000 miles on it (so far) and shows no signs of giving up! I wanted to buy a newer Civic but was not excited about the CVT nor the teeny tiny turbo engines, which are probably both fine around town and on the highway as long as it's flat. But I do some mountain driving now and then. This newer bigger engine has plenty of stomp, so we'll see how it does on a 7-mile, 6% grade. My old Civic 1.8/auto can do it, but not without some complaining. For now I'll semi-retire it and just use it to go to work, it's still a great commuter car.
Thanks for keeping us up to date Scotty, I love your videos and watch every one.

He doesn't lie when it comes to car quality. He educates us on scams and misconceptions. I have gained a lot of useful knowledge from this channel.
