I am slightly a fan of the 2016 to 2018 Acura ILX with the 2.4 L four-cylinder engine with a little over 200 horsepower and the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. These cars are the best to own and to drive, especially if you are a new driver, experienced driver or if you are planning to get one for your first vehicle. This is a lot better than a 2006 to 2015 Honda Civic with the 1.8 L four-cylinder engine with 140 horsepower and the five-speed/CVT automatic transmission.
If this type s is like the ones before its going to have 310 horsepower. Base TL 258 type s 286. If the previous type s was a 0 to 60 5 second car I could see but I dont get the hype over the previous type s models. The SHAWD in the 4th gen alone made the TL a better sports sedan.

I bought my first Acura in 2000. It was a '97 RL. Still driving it to work everyday with nearly 300K miles. No major issues. Only maintenance was oil change, spark plugs, filters, tires, batteries, fluids, brakes, etc. as recommended. Still runs great, and will probably run for a few more years before I get a replacement. May be I'll get a 2022 RL in 2025?
Get a used 2017 Acura TLX 2.4 engine base model under 50k miles. White on white with a clean carfax and 2 owners maximum. I guarantee you it will give you maximum value.
@@originaltruths2305 You can get any color you like, I just prefer white because it's cooler during the summers. I rather get the i4 engine because it's more gas efficient and 210 HP is plenty enough for me. Unless you're trying to race people then by all means get the V6.

Its Acura's first compact sedan in the US, here in Canada we had the CSX and before that the 1.7 EL. Both were even closer to the civic than the ILX. I own a CSX, great car!
Actually, before the 1.7 EL, Canada also had the 1.6 EL for model years 1997-2000. People always said "it's just a Civic", since they were both built on the same platform on the same assembly line in Ontario. Having driven the 1.6 EL and the Civic of that generation, however, the EL was significantly superior in comfort and driving. Fantastic car.
I had an 08' Acura TSX, best handling car I have EVER driven...it was on the Accord chassis with similar motor as ILX has now. I brought it up to 135mph one evening on some new asphalt...smooth as glass. It was phased out by blending it with their TL model, now they offer the TLX which I hear is another amazing handling car.
You have to remember, Scotty is all about reliability and that’s achieved over time. So to everyone criticizing him for showing a 2016, not all new cars are good cars.
Jonathan Sanchez never had a problem so far yet thank god. I had a 05 Acura TL base model and with 288k miles before I sold it to get a Type-S. It shifted great still.
Mine just hit 150k on my tsx the only thing I replaced was oil tires and brakes. Still running like I took it of the lot. Highly impressed and my previous vehicle was a Audi. Will never look at another German car ever.
yalman32 i think they’re the best in every way (performance, reliability, fuel efficiency, etc...) it’s the best engine in my opinion, 2.0,2.4 or even the 2.3 turbo, they’re all great, efficient, and reliable cars!
Speaking from ownership, the car is very light and fast. Although, the transmission is kinda gimmicky. Goodluck to anyone who gets this car. I would not have another one.
These cars are simply beautiful, one of the best naturally aspirated Engines with 4wd torque vectoring. Car is a dream and literally a sleeper that does not get the attention it deserves...
@Andy Helms - Stopped by my local Mahindra tractor dealer and asked about the Roxor. He looked at me like I was nuts. Told him about it but he wasn't interested. Only a very few dealers in the entire country sell the. Like the idea that Mahindra has a license to build Jeeps. I even understand the part numbers are the same as the original Jeeps and will interchange with them. It should be a kickass vehicle and customizing it should be a breeze.
I have recently found your channel and watched MANY your videos. I also had my husband watch, then we did some research of our own...and Voila! Thank you for all your great suggestions and videos! I am now a first time Honda owner!
I'm all about the Acura/Honda love. I had a 2005 Acura TL that I foolishly leased. I put nearly 70,000 miles on it in 3 years and never had a single problem. After I turned it in I purchased a 2010 Honda Accord 4 cylinder. 225K miles later and I've still not encountered a single issue with it. Aside from your basic maintenance, the only things I've replaced are the battery and starter on that baby girl. She never ceases to amaze me, and I abuse the hell out of her daily. I also put the cheapest gas in the tank at all times. Zero issues. Honda for life kids!
I have a 2016 rdx with 26k miles on it. I drive about 6k miles a year now. It’s so comfortable!! Remote start works from the grocery store line. The cooled seats are a life saver in the heat. And the handling and acceleration beats any lexus suv!
Just bought a 2018 ILX, so far so good. Truly is a dream to drive. I got the stripped-down, black on black model like the one shown here, best for enthusiast driving in my opinion - nothing to fiddle with and distract yourself from the road. This video made me aware of the car's existence (I used to know all the cars, features, etc. but they've gotten way ahead of me!), so thank you Scotty for making it! My '08 Civic EX-L has 237,000 miles on it (so far) and shows no signs of giving up! I wanted to buy a newer Civic but was not excited about the CVT nor the teeny tiny turbo engines, which are probably both fine around town and on the highway as long as it's flat. But I do some mountain driving now and then. This newer bigger engine has plenty of stomp, so we'll see how it does on a 7-mile, 6% grade. My old Civic 1.8/auto can do it, but not without some complaining. For now I'll semi-retire it and just use it to go to work, it's still a great commuter car. Thanks for keeping us up to date Scotty, I love your videos and watch every one.

It’s a fancy Civic with a dual clutch. Really good for Uber Black.
In deed despite being based in the previous generation Honda Civic
Have almost the identical car exept mine is a 2010 tsx 6mt all black the k serie engine is the best I've ever owned
And the best cars out there
201 hp out of a new luxury sports sedan? My 15 year old Mustang GT makes 260hp.
@@angelgjr1999 260hp out of a V8 is nothing to brag about my friend... 201 hp out of a fuel efficient I4 on the other hand, is.
Angel Gutierrez lol that’s slow for a v8.
Astroturf much?
Hopefully the Acura Type S lineup won’t disappoint. After seeing the concept model, I’m optimistic.
I'm hyped for the TLX Type-S
elusivellama wanna know if it has SHAWD, or if can get it with SHAWD.
Acura said the turbo V6 motor will be paired with SH-AWD. Google Acura Type-S, the announcement was from Jan or Feb 2018.
You think it will come with a 6 speed? I have an 08’ TLS with a manual
Finally you talk about my car! I have the 2014 ILX Hybrid! Good thing you approve of my car.
Greetings to all. I have a 2009 Acura tsx 348.453. miles with minor repairs. He never dumped me.
I'm just waiting for that time he opens the trunk and there's a body, or his cat pillow.
Lord Vader His cat pillow would be great. lol
Lord Vader, Hitler kicked your A$$ on Epic Rap Battles of History
Lord Vader i would love his cat pillow to become an easter egg
Lord Vader Or a bunch of “late” votes from last election?
@@thisismagacountry1318 I literally froze his balls off, or his single ball.
Well Acura is becoming a game changer now as they are bringing back Type S
Type S is going to be so good!
If this type s is like the ones before its going to have 310 horsepower. Base TL 258 type s 286. If the previous type s was a 0 to 60 5 second car I could see but I dont get the hype over the previous type s models. The SHAWD in the 4th gen alone made the TL a better sports sedan.
@@ajevthetruthisthetruthnotc8390 hopefully we a get 415- 425 hp 3.5 twin turbo engine out this type s. But knowing Acura that might not happen....
I'm really hoping for that V6 twin turbo as well, if that does happen, it will be a game changer for them!
@@ajevthetruthisthetruthnotc8390 They benchmarked it with the S4, C43, and M340i, so it's going to have competitive HP in that segment at a lower price point
depending on if it was painted during A or B shift my Wife may have been the one that put the bumpers on that Acura.
@Lucas Cruz LOl well lets hope it wasnt my wifes shift then
@Lucas Cruz heh heh thered be no way of knowing anyway, also i have a correction from my wife shes in the step right before it goes on the car and said the guys in AF (where it gets put on) are idiots
@Lucas Cruz lol yea i know yer messing with me but i did ask my wife (because we where laughing about it) and she confirmed that the part of the building that makes this is full of meatheads becauuse of how fast paced its supposed to be happening they cant get "smart" people to be able to keep up physically. aparently they have something like 20 seconds for each process, so that plus meatheads + falling bumpers lol.
I own this vehicle, Scotty. 2 years now. I do love it for what it is, no real complaints.
Yeah but what's wrong with it tho....I can sense there's a complaint there ...cause I've been looking at these cars....there seems to be a lot of this particular make on sale and I'm wondering why?
Thank you for this video. I used it to convince my daughter to buy. She bought it today AT BOOK VALUE!! This is her first car and she is so excited. Thank you again for your video. She got a steal and unfortunately she doesn't even realize it. lol.
@@FrYLocK41 why white on white and why not the v6 lmao
@@originaltruths2305
You can get any color you like, I just prefer white because it's cooler during the summers. I rather get the i4 engine because it's more gas efficient and 210 HP is plenty enough for me. Unless you're trying to race people then by all means get the V6.
from what Ive seen the RLX has a lot of issues
You can rarely go wrong with any Honda product....their engines have been influencing our modern world more than we really think.
Thank you Mr Kilmer your Acura ILX is in the mail😉
Is an Acura ILX really only $26500? That's dirt cheap for a luxury car.
I own an 08 Acura tsx with 130k miles, runs like a dream.
Scotty: *ACURA JUST CHANGED THE GAME*

It's a 2016

I’ve got a 2019 civic sport with a standard trans and I love it! 🧡 It shifts like butter and I get 34 mpg city!
I'll have to put this car on my list of good car purchases.
Just leased a 2021 ILX this morning. The dealer has to locate it for me because he didn’t have a Red car
Loved how it test drove. Hoping I get 3 good years for my lease. Affordable!!
Just bought a used 2014 ILX Premium Package, love the drive.
I work for Acura. But even I gotta say, if I called for Uber Black and that shows up? We have a serious problem.
Lol... Why, though?
??
@@cosmicviewer477 1:58 Do you see how tight the rear leg room is? If you are paying for Uber Black, you want a full size car with plenty of leg room.
Yea seriously, who said using a Civic EXL was ok? Lol you could ride in an E class for the same price
Giovanny Sanchez ?
Looking to buy a 2019 ILX! Heard great things about the ILX so far, and always loved Acuras
Bought a used 1999 Acura TL when I lived in Hawaii briefly and it had around 91k miles..car was so nice to drive
I actually purchased one bc I follow Scotty and his knowledge about what cars are most or least reliable. Scotty knows alot about cars. Thank you.
Honda needs to do a genuine Acura-finished Civic R. BMW has M, Acura needs an R treatment for every car.
They have the A Spec trim levels
Richard Reavis Type S making a return
Maticalise Music Master so excited for the new Type-S
Best car for the price actually I wish acura come back to my country again 💔
Acura ILX is under rated as hell.
2.4L Engine and sure... You got a 8 speed DTC (If your lucky... You can get a 6 speed M/T)
This is a Fancy Civic Si.
And it's an AT for us little zoomies :D
Yeah no look at the interior
I had an 08' Acura TSX, best handling car I have EVER driven...it was on the Accord chassis with similar motor as ILX has now. I brought it up to 135mph one evening on some new asphalt...smooth as glass. It was phased out by blending it with their TL model, now they offer the TLX which I hear is another amazing handling car.
You have to remember, Scotty is all about reliability and that’s achieved over time. So to everyone criticizing him for showing a 2016, not all new cars are good cars.
I have a 07Acura TL Type-S . I love my car drives great
So a v6 accord without the 6spd mt
Transmission are bad no ?
@@JonathanSanchez-tu8ms auto yes, classic Honda auto. SH-AWD no, great trans

Jonathan Sanchez never had a problem so far yet thank god. I had a 05 Acura TL base model and with 288k miles before I sold it to get a Type-S. It shifted great still.
"Acura just changed the game!" shows an almost 4 year old car. Good video though, I'm intrigued
Scotty plays the long game.
Excellent video as always, Scotty! Rev up your engine and keep 'em coming!
Nice episode Scotty. I owned a 1991 Legend LS for 16 years. Best car I ever owned.
Just bought my new 2021 Aspec with the Technology package I love it glad to see that I’ll should have it for years to come!
I had a 2013 Acura TL. Basically bullet proof. Quite comfortable, drove nicely, reliable. Good car
@Lucas Cruz
Good point. That being said in 120,000 miles all I ever did was change tires (twice) and the battery.
My tsx still kicking, btw k motors are beast
You know, I agree. My 05 Accord still has good pickup
Mine just hit 150k on my tsx the only thing I replaced was oil tires and brakes. Still running like I took it of the lot. Highly impressed and my previous vehicle was a Audi. Will never look at another German car ever.
yalman32 agreed k boosted motors are beasts
yalman32 i think they’re the best in every way (performance, reliability, fuel efficiency, etc...) it’s the best engine in my opinion, 2.0,2.4 or even the 2.3 turbo, they’re all great, efficient, and reliable cars!
2001 Honda Odyssey I work out of runs buttery smooth.
I was searching for mod inspiration and came across this video. 2 years after I got mine and this made me love my purchase even more.
I just bought an Acura RDX today.
@Yash Sharma I got a ‘16 FWD w/ Tech package @25k for $23.5k. Much better choice than the others we were considering like X1, Q5 and NX200t.
aw, this is perfect timing. I just got a 2007 acura tl yesterday as my first car. this video makes me so excited. thanks!!
I have a 2006 TL. 230k miles on it. Change the oil and timing belt and you should enjoy years of trouble-free, FUN driving.
Now we jut need Jeep to change the game and go back to the older Jeeps
That would be bad for business
Made to break and replace is our practice now
Toyota needs to make a jeep, id buy 10 of em and only need 1 for a lifetime
JoeKickass324 hahaha now that’s a great idea
What Toyota needs to do is bring back the J40

My fiancé owns a 2017 ILX. Drove it from Sacramento CA to Spokane Washington and back. No problems at all! Zippy and sippy is what it is!
Ive got an ILX- I LOVE IT.
