Really appreciate everyone for watching, left all the sounds of nature and birds in the video instead of overlaying some stupid background music since we're all quarantined right. link to my 2 year review of the TSX is here: ruclips.net/video/XW_jXcCVsK8/видео.html follow me on ig @exhaustsports to see what cars I work on next or you may become a Patreon member. Thank you again for all your support.
Exhaust Sports I am looking at the same model too. 4 banger, good enough. Three things worry me: (1) direct injection: oil dilution and carbon buildup in valves (2) freaking Takata airbags (who know, TLX may have them and Acura has recalled them yet) (3) Honda/Acura paint problem. Peeling clear coat or peel paint What do you think?
I just traded my 2015 Acura TLX in with 138 k on it I never did one thing to it besides routine fluid changes , brakes and tires and it still ran and drove like the day I bought it.
I've had my 2016 base tlx for 4 years and had no problems. I love it and plan on keeping it for wayyy longer. I did have the v6 for a year and honestly saw no difference between my 4cylinder. Overall still love it
@@microtransactions2661 just bought the base SH AWD for ~26k with 12k miles on it. I think that was a fair price but you may be able to find one cheaper. I just had a difficult time finding the AWD without all the extra bells and whistles that drive the price up, especially with the interior and exterior colors that I wanted.
I've never had any unreasonable mechanical issues with any honda I've ever owned. I think the engine reliability for Honda is second to none, and Toyota overall reliability is fantastic. Toyotas are built for pragmatists and Hondas are built for people who enjoy driving (for the most part). I have a 2018 tlx v6 advance CPO and the car is great. The v6 is awesome and the p-aws makes the car handle great. It is not a 330i competitor, but it is an introductory luxury sports sedan competitor. I recommend it.
I've owned a 14' TSX, 16' TLX, and currently a 19' TLX. All great cars overall and reliability has always been top notch on all of them. Only real issue I've ever had with any of my TLXs was a hard shift while slowing to a stop on my 16' and that was corrected with a software update.
Yea I think these cars are solid people just have little issues here and there and it just doesnt look good on the forums but reality is these are pretty good thanks for shariny
Im new to Acura, owned this car for over a year now. My experience has been pretty good overall... No complaints (esp compared to my previous car). My brother is looking for a car now and I honestly have no major complaints about this Acura TLX. It has a luxury feel, rides smooth, gets pretty good gas mileage, the speakers are okay for my tastes..... My experience pretty much echos your review (a good car with some random issues maybe, but nothing detrimental or consistent). Great video, thanks 👌🏾
@curseknight5 I actually don't have it anymore only due to an accident. Now I have the MDX. No issues but I did get a recall notice about a fuel pump part that is defective about a month ago. This could cause an issue that seems like transmission issues. I think it could be affecting Acura and Honda.
2018 2.4 Tech CPO from Hendrick Charlotte. Sold my '06 S2K to buy this mostly for my wife who adores it. Ride and quiet are on point but it's still nimble. Had a new 2012 TSX Tech and this is on another level. Power train is really satisfying for longtime Honda-Acura people. No issues with the car but it's only been 10 months. I actually have an owner review on my YES2000 channel and I may do an update at some point.
I picked up a 16 tlx shawd with 24k on it for $28k last spring. Transmission was a little jerky for the first 5 thousand miles i think cause the car sat for some time. Have put 11k miles on this car since and the transmission is now shifting almost flawlessly. I don't have any interior rattles and the car is fantastic. Im very happy with this car
I did. 5 months and a few state wide road trips later I do love it. It's affordable, so far reliable, still "fancy", and nobody looks twice at it. For the around the 20k they go for right now, sure you can find something nicer but this is a great car.
I’ve had the 2015 v6 TLX for 4 years now and honestly no major issue. I had to replace the rear view camera it went blurry but it was covered by warranty. As for the mechanical or software end it’s been perfect. I do drive aggressively I mean really aggressive if you know what I mean and it’s been holding great. The car doesn’t wear the tires badly. Acura service has been great! Top notch work and they throw in a 10-15 % discount if you ask for it.
Another good review on this Acura. I actually have the exact same car and coming up on 4 years owning it. I do not have any issues of this kind but have had similar experiences in the previous Acura's I have owned ( not significant enough to complain too much) . In short , the biggest positive of this car for me is that I just love driving it every day!
Had a 2017 v6 for 3 years drove it 105k no problems except for the occasional lights turning on. Check engine tps brake light parking light. But after a couple days it turns off. Brought it into check. Mechanic said there’s no problem they just reset the lights. Now I have a 2020 Acura TLX V6. 20,000 miles now. No problem
Wow awesome review video! Actually learned more from watching this video than from 2 other in-depth reviews of the TLX! Especially about the audio system! I actually came from a 3rd gen TL 6-speed. Absolutely loved that car! Only gripes about it were the build quality. Leather seats were worse than today’s luxury car vinyl seats. My dashboard had sprouted 2 cracks on the instrument binnacle and above the passenger airbag cover. Looked like someone stabbed the plastic dashboard with a machete. Acura refused to cover it under warranty and the car was 3 years old with about 30K miles on it. (The Acura dealership said that they had so many people complaining about it and bringing it in for warranty work that Honda stopped reimbursement to the dealership that the dealership began charging customers for work while still under the basic warranty period.) Sold it shortly after at a loss and later got a ‘13 E92. Also, I recently saw a red TLX where the paint was all faded on the roof and hood. Kind of crazy thinking that it’s at oldest a 2015 model. How has your TLX held up in terms of paint and build quality? Again, awesome review!
I’m definitely interested in buying one of these cars. I’ve always liked them since they debuted a few years back and now I’m in the market for one. Thanks for the video.
I’m a year in to ownership of a 16 tlx with the tech package. Pretty good so far but had 3 speakers blow in the els system. Last owner must have loved loud music. Had no issues with the dealer getting them replaced though. Bought from a good dealer and they bend over backwards for you. Got some sweet loaners. I agree with everything you said, should be able to drive this a long time. Solid comfortable car for sub 20k.
Bro this is a common issue it seems on tlx forums. The Els system isn’t bad at all but the speakers they use aren’t that great materials. I’d replace the sub in the back with a same size competitor. I’m thinking about replacing it with a same size focal.
I have a TL '09 w/Tech and just went over 200k. I do the basic maintenance myself (oil, brakes, fluids, headliner, etc.) and use a trusted garage for stuff I prefer not to do (timing belt, water pump, tune-up, belts, etc.). The V6 is still pulling strong and only very minor issues. Many occupants think it is much newer than it is
I owned a '16 TLX Advance FWD for 3 years. Thoroughly enjoyed that car. I drive a lot and don't keep my cars very long and always buy slightly used vehicles. I wanted a '19 TLX Advance to replace my '16. After months of searching, I could never find one to suit me. I very reluctantly decided on a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T. As much as I loved my Acura, I have zero regrets buying my Accord. This car is so dang good! Eventually, I'll get back into an Acura but for now I am loving my Honda. I've owned 8 Acura vehicles and 10 Hondas. Honestly, I don't ever recall having any serious issues with any of them. The only thing that comes to mind is having issues with warped rotors. Most of them didn't have that issue but about 3 of them did. The worst was my '10 Acura TSX V6 Tech. Had to have those rotors turned twice in less than 30k miles.
@@cpl8168 The car is sooo nice! So smooth and quiet. I keep the car in “Sport” mode as I like the throttle response. The DCT is just flat out awesome. It makes that 2.4 feel quick. Getting 30 MPG too...
@@DUNEATV That's great! I went out and bought one yesterday! lol Chose it over the V6 SHAWD mainly because from all reports the DCT with the 2.4l is a sweet combo. All the best with your car!
I have a 2012 tsx and have had no issues. I hit 100,000 miles but I get regular oil changes at the dealership and all the regular maintenance as well. It's in a garage too.
Had my 2017 TLX base model for 1 year now. You are absolutely correct about random vibrates. Other than that, it drives nice. First “reliable” car I bought. Had Pontiac Grand am, Jeep Cherokee, and Mustang v6. It’s been most reliable but the Jeep Cherokees (2014) drove smoother than my current Acura but I bought the Acura for the interior. Nice wood accents
I had the same issue with all the lights coming on the dashboard on my 2016 Acura Tlx v6,I let the car rest after coming back from Vegas, the next morning I turned the car on all the lights were gone took it to the dealership couldn't find nothing wrong with the car. The car has been running great I haven't had any problems. I took it again to Vegas and haven't had any issues, I guess I was forcing the car the first time to much.
Thanks for the knowledge on this video. I just got my first TLX 2019 with Tech package & 15K on it and what a smooth ride has been. I'm looking for advice on Acura Care should I get it now or later or wait until I'm close to Manufacture warranty expires? Thanks for any input.
Had my Acura tlx 2018 sh awd bought it for 17k financing's bought it at 70k miles only put 5k miles on the car coming up up on a year I know that's not long and I don't drive as much as others but the car has been amazing would recommend to anyone there's good deals out there if you buy salvage like me make sure you do research don't get scammed
Problems I had with my TSX: 1) Air conditioning leaking into the car and frying the computer. Fixable by disconnecting the hose under the passenger set and unclogging it. 2) power drain while car wasn't running (car was 14 years old). 3) Trunk leak Still a pretty good car. 140k miles/ 14 years old when I got rid of it. Made in Japan. Headlights were never replaced. I now have a TLX. I like it too. But I feel like it isn't as well made as the TLX, even though it has more features. I will probably continue to buy Acuras though.
I have a 2016 TLX tech pack V-6 FWD which I bought certified used 4/19. These are a great value for the price and the 3.5L engine is sneaky fast. Only complaint, and I haven't had major issues yet, is that when in econo mode and you try a quick acceleration when between 25-40 mph, there is a big pause before you literally zoom forward. Only glitch that I have with that transmission issue that many people complain about. When in normal or sport mode, not really an issue. Also, the speakers in the back doors are horrible! Changed them out once while still under warranty and now they are back to buzzing when cranked under certain atmospheric conditions, seriously. Rest of the sound system sounds great! Rear door speakers just suck!
ZF on the V6 doesn't have "issues." It's disappointing. I mean that as in there is nothing mechanically wrong with it. Its performance is lackluster with the way Acura tuned it. It wasn't made for fwd setups to begin with, and sh-awd is still fwd favored even under full acceleration. With that being said, it has held up so far with performance and feel being the only real complaints. Valid complaints certainly, given the price point but nothing that will leave you in fear of standing on the side of the highway.
From my time working on my Mercury. I will tell you one thing most the car community is immature about. Every vehicle the moment it rolls off the assembly line is different. Maybe the parts the factory got in that day were poorer quality then the cars before it. Maybe the engineer fell asleep on his desk while designing and completely lost track. Maybe the machines and welders putting the car together were having breakdowns. Maybe, just maybe that batch of grease going into the bearings or the cast for the block was just a bad batch. Every car is different. Especially with a manufacturer who has a high reliability reputation. There are some Crown Vics that lasted 800k. There are some that lasted only 60k! Sure you got lucky with that Civic. But one that was built just months later probably has a poorly put on pulley by some overworked mechanic at a dealership, now it's just a ticking time bomb. In all my time scrounging around the engine bays. I noticed that no two cars will have the same problem. No two owners will deal with the same problem the same way. And you are damn sure that if a mechanic, shade tree or professional, or even a DIYer does anything about it. You know there is a chance they did it wrong and not even know it. I say this in defense of you and those who have common sense. Its a shame the opening words for a video that is meant to help people make a financial decision on such a nice vehicle is calming down the jerkoffs who don't understand cars in the slightest. Anyways now to why I am here. The Mercury is getting older and is going to go down as a project car. I wanted something with the same reliability, luxury and isnt going to eat my paycheck at the pump. Buddy of mine actually recommended one of these. I have to say I really am in love with the look of these things. Hard part is finding one that doesnt want 7k down.
I've owned my 2015 tlx for about 5 yrs now (bought it CPO) and it's been pretty reliable. Couple yrs ago the dash light up and would give out while driving..took it to dealership and they said battery was the issue. I've had the driver side rear wheel bearings replaced at around 88k miles. Other than that, there are no issues. It's not fast but it's comfortable daily driver. I would recommend especially CPO.
Hi ..im planning to buy a tlx 2015 ..but some reviews says the transmission for this model is really bad..and it cost a lot of money to fix the transmission.
I just purchased a CPO 2016 TLX TECH 2.4 P-AWS with less than 30k miles. I like it, but I have had some minor issues with vibrations at highway speed and the dual clutch trans hard (jerky) shifting . The vibrations have been completely removed with the addition of wheel weights on the rear wheels which they had none and transmission software needed to be updated. Besides those two, everything else is pretty good. I just hate that Apple CarPlay isn’t available.
@@drell7669 prity good. I drove it like 1500 km till now and havent got any problem, pickup is so good check my insta, done some customization to it. Its 90h_tlx
I bought a 2016 Acura TLX in may of 2019. The only issue I have had is a slight vibration coming from the front drivers side tire. That tire was replace before and then caused a vibration only when I get to about 80mph. It doesn't vibrate below that. I have owned many brands of autos including Toyota and Honda/Acura is the best. I only buy used vechicles because of the price. Used vechicles with low miles. The problem is not serious and could be due to balance issues when I used flat fixer on one of my tires that had a razor blade in it. I fixed it and then had the vibration issue but only when I get over 80mph.
I have a 2015 V6 TLX Elite/Advanced S-Awd since brand new and the ZF transmission was replaced at i think 18-19,000km due to rough shifting from 3-4. I had those crap good year tires as well, till they randomly popped twice, than shifted to Pilot sport 3rs (something like that) and its been great. I have almost 85,000km and I don't see it going anywhere for a while.
I just bought my 2017 acura tlx tech pack with the v6 and it’s pretty good for the most part. there seems to possibly be some wiring issues because when it rains the abs light will come on and sometimes the emissions light and parking brake light will come on too. it’s covered under warranty so not a big deal, but it is strange.
I currently have a 2010 acura tsx. Had it 4 years so far and haven't had any issues at all. I just keep up on oil changes and filters and runs perfect. Just looking to update to something newer
Imagine this car with a V6! If Honda/Acura could do that, it would be amazing. It was nice to hear the ups and the downs of Acura ownership. Rear wheel steering must be really special in a car that is this small.
I have had my tlx tech package for 2 yrs now. Got it with 119k miles 2016 awd sh . I have added 30k miles, and the main issue is the jerky transmission. I would say it's not as refined as it could be. It tends to not up shift when city driving and the mpg is about 15mpg. However, on a long-distance highway with cruise control, i have gotten 40mpg. The suspension is not the best for rough city roads. I get the random dashboard lights, exhaust system, collision warning, transmission, etc. I have on a couple of occasions with 2hrs+ of highway spirited driving, gotten a transmission overheating warning, which completely cuts power! Had to pull over. Brought into the Acura dealership, scanned it, and they found no electrical issues, no codes whatsoever. Made me want to updrade! The car really shines with the engine in sport mode. Highway driving between 50mph and 85mph depending on which governed stretch of highway youre on, the transmission tends to perform better, almost forgivable. The handling is great, and the awd-sh system is really good. Check out some of youtube's roller video tests for different awd systems. It's near the top, beating out many higher priced manufacturers ( lexus, etc). It is a bargain if you can live with these..,if not, then i think the 2.4 would be the way to go. Sometimes, i wish i did. But the 290hp v6 makes up for a lot. It is not a cheap car as i now have to change injectors and belts and do the normal 120k mile servicing, which an Acura dealership quoted me at $2k. Also, the high-pressure fuel pump started making noise, which is another $2k. Hopefully, I'll get some sort of discount. The car was in fair condition for only $17k. I'd rather put tgat $4k somewhere else as the car is still more than drivable and very quick.
I had the Dashlight issue when it rained hard or washing my 09 ILX. Must be an Acura thing. Your post is making me have second thoughts. I may just go IS350 or even IS250 instead. I love Honda/Acura, but not trying to spend much on maintenance. I was looking at a 2019 TLX V6 SHAWD A-Spec. 69k miles for about $25k. I don't wanna pay that much to only have to spend more money on issues.
@Xilent1 I see. you cant beat lexus' reliability. i dont care about how a car looks and drives ( A spec TLX) reliabilty is the #1 factor. it makes up for any shortcomings many times over. I know the price you got is amazing but spend a little extra, get the lexus. I was broke when i got that Acura. If i had moderate cash i would have gotten a low milege full sized lexus. Im 6ft 4 inches and i just cant get a cheaper car that fits me comfortably save a used accord or acura. Honda has some way to go with their electronics to catch toyota. They're way more fun but thats about it. With that said a 2.4 tlx is sh awd i would take over toyota because it would be had for less cash and would drive a bit more sporty. Hope i helped.
@@elijahfrancis9889 It does help. Thanks. I love Hondas, but the Acura electronic dash issues are ridiculous and seems to still persist. I would rather get a Honda Touring over the Acura sadly. I'm a Honda/Acura fan, but will be switching to Lexus IS350. The problem I have with this is, its hard to find. I may have to have it shipped out of state from the Dealership I find one at. I swear, cars I want are hard to find. I really want the Mark Levinson sound with it, but may have to opt out since the car itself is hard to find or settle for a IS250 over the IS350, I can live with the carbon issues for that model by having it blasted as they call it. Good luck with your Acura. I still think those are great cars, just not perfect, but what car is?
@@Xilent1 my goal is to get an accord touring for safe keeping ( storage). I only went tlx for snow traction. If I can possibly get the mdx as well. Also get one of the newer 440+miles electric vehicles once the price settles and the bugs get sorted out. Electric is the future and I want to enjoy it before it comes the norm and becomes expensive. Some insane deals and tax incentives are to be had nowadays. So for emergencies, the most reliable petrol vehicles I know..(.camry and corolla have become overpriced and overhyped.) And the most efficient form of transportation factoring tax incentives etc is electric. A model y is possible the best deal right now for a daily city banger (250mile range) Huge price cuts on it right now. I think a model 3 is about the sample price now or a couple of hundreds more expensive. 400miles for $20 is crazy
@@elijahfrancis9889 You sound like a smart guy. I believe you will get what you truly want. I"m not sure I'm sold on the Electric cars. I do like Audi's Electric vehicles looks wise. I live down South so snow isn't much of an issue, though I'm from Chicago and visit. To my understanding, Electric vehicles don't charge well during extreme cold. I have to do more research honestly. The tax incentives are true and I should do more research on that as well. If I were to buy an electric vehicle, it would be Tesla considering they started the trend for others to follow. I've been telling people, the leaders in Petrol may not be the leaders in Electric cars. If you have any articles or videos names on RUclips to share with more info on Electric cars and tax benefits, I'll be more than interested to check it out. Happy and safe driving bro.
I got a 2015 V6 base model and my transmission kinda jumps when changing from 2nd grear to 3rd.. idk if I'm the only one with that problem. Let me know.
One of my favorite features in my 2020 TLX is the Jewel Eyes Headlight and different drive mode. The Sport + in the 4-cylinder with the VTEC kick in 😩😩. Yes, you can get a nicer Accord for the money, but I end up got the car for $30k down from $34k so I think it’s a steal. I’m enjoying it quite a lot.
In September I will have 3 years with my 2017 Acura TLX. Minus all the sensors and computerized engine, I love driving it everyday. Smooth ride and reliable. But when something happens you HAVE to take them to the dealership. That’s the only thing I don’t like.
Man, great video Kevin. I love your straight down to earth talk. It would be seriously cool to have a one on one conversation with you if I’m ever down in North Carolina. Thanks for talking about this car. I’m still debating between the TLX, ES 350, IS or sticking with the main stream Nissan (they are trying to hard to keep me with their 0% APR financing and no payments for three months 😂)
I wouldn't mind purchasing this car. I really like Lexus but the GS is a little big and IS is a little small since I am in the market for a AWD sedan. I find the Acura TLX and Infiniti q50 are just the right size. But with the TLX with the 4cyl and V6 I have heard so many complaints even with its cousin the Honda Accord. Transmission issues and ignition problems. Lexus and Acura used to be neck and neck with built quality and reliability. But Acura seems to be slipping over the years.
I just bought my TLX 2016 basic model with 20k miles from a Ford dealership bought it for around 19k USD. Took it to an acura dealership and everything is fine they ran test on it everything came out green. I've had it since December of 2019 great vehicle fun to drive no issues. Sound system and infotainment system is trash but its still a great reliable vehicle
Sounds like you got ripped off on that car for how old and how much its MSRP was. I mean that's hyundai Genesis/ Kia K900 pricing for a car that will run circles around that Acura.
@@michaelgrant5258 Acura has prestige it's seen as a valuable car in the public eyes that's why it has solid resale starts at 33k. No one can accept the fact that Genesis is a better car it's irrelevant in the luxury car space. Idk what they can do to prove themselves
@@MeynMotorGroup I don't disagree with your statement. But, when you can get a Hyundi Genesis/G80 for the same price or less. Who would take a Acura over the Genesis?
I bought a 2018 tlx 2.4 tech package a few months back. Certified pre owned. Love everything about it except a rough idle in gear. Did an idle re learn and it got a little better but still does it sometimes. Drops to like 550 RPM while idling in drive. Are you familiar with this problem? Heard of some dealerships giving the run around. Decent size Acura dealer in my town but have never dealt with them. Imformative video!
That is awesome so happy for you and your new purchase. And yes the 4 cylinder cars do that its unfortunate and I understand its a bit unrefined the V6 doesn't really do that but 4 cylinders do that to save fuel...so Ive heard but its almost like a manual car that's on the verge of stalling (not that bad of course) but I've noticed that on multiple 4 cylinder Acuras. But again, congrats and enjoy that beautiful ride. Stay blessed
Got a 2015 V6 awd 47k miles. I do Uber almost 1000 miles a week , not driving it very hard gonna be on top of oil etc. gonna do trans fluid around 85-90k and every 50k after that , belt around 120-130k , anything else I can do to give myself the best chance for my car to go 200k plus
Really cool video as always, I've always heard and thought Hondas were really reliable so I was surprised to hear you say it was a little shift. The background noise was nice to hear, I didn't notice there wasn't any music but it was nice I think it made this a video I can listen to when doing chores or whatever. The background looked cool too, it look like a green screen or something for a little for some reason 😄, can't wait to see what your next videos about
I got a 2015 tlx v 6 advance package it was a leased vehicle 2 yrs old with 30000 mi I've owned it for 6 yrs it now has 90000 mi on it now and have had no issues I also have a 2012 mdx with 160000 mi no problem and a 2007 tl type s with around 160000 mi we did have the transmission rebuild in it at a 150000 something but all in all we love them all had a 2004 tl prior it had around 200000 mi when we got rid of it and had no issues with it when we get ready to buy again we want another mdx being older it's easier for us to get in and out of
98K miles on base 2015 tlx - got the dealer's loaner car at 8Kmiles. no mechanical problems yet. sluggish in econ/normal modes, but drives reasonably well in sports mode. my only problem turned out to be the drivers side mirror. when i turn the car on, the mirror tries to adjust its angle and goes in a up/down loop.
I am looking at a used 2016 tlx with the V6 engine with 50k miles at $23k would.thia be a good deal the Carfax shows it was a lease vehicle with no accident reports
The TSX was notorious for having issues w/ several car owners having to deal with transmission & engine issues. The TLX is a much better & more reliable car.
I have the 2018 tlx v6 technology package and I got the bumper to bumper extended warranty should I keep or cancel it my car like new only 26,000 miles on it it was an extra $2000 for 6 years with $50 Deductible... should I cancel??
When it came to the dashlights coming on. It happened a lot with me in an 09 Acura ILX. Seems to happen when I drove through a lot of water or down pours. Not much any other time. I think the Tire sensor got wet and caused the issues. Also, I had to be careful about washing my car and drenching the tires. Scary at first as it was my 1st Acura. Interesting to hear its a common problem in Acuras. Still thinking about getting a 2019 TLX A-Spec V6-SHAWD version in the next couple months.
I just bought a 2016 Acura TLX V6 One owner pretty low miles after totaling my 2012 Acura TL. I didn’t know that Acura’s rep was the cheapest Luxury cars. I’ve always liked them since high school my first car was an integra. But it does make sense though, other luxury imports (Lexus, infinity, etc) are a tad bit classier but I always looked at Acura as pretty luxury tho. And the difference between the TL and TLX is mad crazy. I purchased it from a big Acura dealership here in a major city. They offered me a warranty similar to yours which I found crazy even existed. It was $2800 for 4 years of ANY problem from cosmetic engine HVAC anything besides tune ups like oil change etc. even tho I doubt I’ll run into a long list of problems or any major ones at cuz I agree with you that these cars are made to last. The AC settings are annoying as fuck tho. Other than that it’s luxury looking enough outside n specially interior will impress the girls for the most part. And u were right, it was cheap too!
Seattle expert I have a question for you. I have a 2013 acura tl advanced with 90k miles on it and i love the way it drives but i got a good offer on a 2018 acura tlx and i was just wondering what are the difference in the tl and tlx? Which one did you prefer the best? Thanks!
I like my 2003 TL so much. At 150k miles it still works great. I thought I would have another 3-4 years. But a mystery water leak into the cabin leaves me with 5” water on the drivers side floor. And mold grows in 2 days. I’m severely allergic to mold and won’t be able to get it out. Advice on water leak or best Acura sedan replacement
I'm debating between CPO 2018 TLX and a 2019 Accord 1.5T. Price difference is almost negligible. Infotainment HVAC is clearly superior in the accord. Thoughts?
I have no issues with the AWD and my 9 speed . I got the tech package AWD V6. It's awesome ... Only two issues infotainment system is weak and some vibration at high speed 80+... Lol
i have the 17 v6 too nd it shakes too that shit is ass and the music is not loud at all even wit da subwoofers on loudest shit weirddd but fun car love gapping people😂😂
My sister has the 2015 model with v6 and tech package. It legit stalls in traffic (something stemming from the idle stop that the dealership can't properly diagnose) and has problems left and right. I've driven the car on numerous occasions still don't know my way around the mess of an infotainment center. I keep trying to convince her to move over to Toyota/Lexus but she's driven Honda for over a decade.
Dude thank you for this info ! Great speech- clear, informative, impressive. Absolutely brilliant! Going to buy tlx sh awd with 100 K km. will see technical analysis from the motor pool
I chose the Lincoln mkz v6 AWD with a sports package over the TLX. They're pretty much rivals. Both good cars. I just felt that the Lincoln was a better overall car.
Mine is sitting at 70k now, but those Goodyear tires are trash! I replace those with Bridgestones even tho the Goodyear’s still have lot of life left, other than tires, brakes and oil I haven’t done much to it,probably coolant drain and fill soon and will do brake fluid this week. The 2.4 also gets really good gas mileage last time I went on a road trip got almost 500 miles before the light came on, kinda surprise that a lot of those little issue you mention in the video didn’t happen with my car other than the trunk rattle which I got it fixed with some foam tape.
I just bought this same exact car 2015 Tlx base 2.4L 4 cylinder a month ago to escape my bmw I'm babying it and I love it so far but I'll make sure to look out for these issues thanks 🙏
I’m looking at replacing my 08’ 528i with a TLX. Can’t decide if I want the V6 or 4 cylinder. I’m test driving them tomorrow. My BMW is giving my parents and I the middle finger this year. Its left me stranded 4 times already since March. I know Acura’s won’t do that because we’ve had a couple in the past. Any recommendations will help.
Exhaust Sports Auto thats the model I’d get. TLX’s are pretty popular here in Houston, but not the SH-AWD models. There’s really no need for AWD down here. I’ll see if I can find one though.
I have reviewed the IS350 on the channel already and yea I think Lexus is the superior car but when my parents were looking at the cars, Lexus is always far more expensive in the used car market for similar miles and year by like 5-6k dollars which is a lot. This is the cheapest car for miles and latest year so that's why many people buy Acuras as well as being a prestige car
@@MeynMotorGroup I didn't think they were -that- far apart in price, though the private used market can be weird. From Edmunds TMV for a 6cyl/awd 2015 model: TLX: $17.2k private clean. IS350: $22.3k. Looks like you were right! You can find the IS300 model for a bit cheaper and tune it though starting in 2016.
Yea I've never looked at the private market I personally never buy used cars but if I did it would be certified pre owned cars only to be sure that the car is covered
@@MeynMotorGroup New can be fine - it's not as horrible of a deal as people make it out to be. Used is great though - you can get the higher tier models for cheap, and if you buy within 5 years still have factory warranty. Always get a 3rd party mechanic to do an inspection. Really with toyota/lexus there's hardly anything to worry about as long as the vehicle wasn't in an accident and had maintenance done. I bought my last vehicle, a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Limited, for $15k 3 years old when it went for like $33k new.
Oh yes I know what you mean I personally try to lease luxury cars extremely cheap that way if I ever want out I can just throw it on swapalease but Lexus is worth the premium if you can pay it's a better built higher quality car especially the IS350 in F sport trim is amazing to drive and so is that V6
I got the bumper to bumper extended warranty should I keep or cancel it my car like new only 26,000 miles on it it was an extra $2000 for 6 years with $50 Deductible... should I cancel??
Really appreciate everyone for watching, left all the sounds of nature and birds in the video instead of overlaying some stupid background music since we're all quarantined right. link to my 2 year review of the TSX is here: ruclips.net/video/XW_jXcCVsK8/видео.html follow me on ig @exhaustsports to see what cars I work on next or you may become a Patreon member. Thank you again for all your support.
I like the nature sounds personally! Thumbs up from me.
Yea it was a sound I think many of us were missing lol so I left it in thanks again for watching hope all is well
Exhaust Sports I am looking at the same model too. 4 banger, good enough.
Three things worry me:
(1) direct injection: oil dilution and carbon buildup in valves
(2) freaking Takata airbags (who know, TLX may have them and Acura has recalled them yet)
(3) Honda/Acura paint problem. Peeling clear coat or peel paint
What do you think?
My tlx is making that same rattling sound when I turn the steering wheel. What did the mechanic say the problem was?
I put pirelli p7 tires on mine and it truly heightens the luxury feel.
Overall still love it
Oh and I'm at 65,000 miles so far

@@microtransactions2661 i bought it new from the dealer. I'm the original owner
@@MeynMotorGroup yes, people on forums tend to only be there when they have an issue to post about.
Yup lol
More then just a little problem ruclips.net/video/-LS7jHLLEfs/видео.html
Los Pollos, does the 19 TLX feel any more refined compared to your 16TLX? For example, less vibration, better handling, quieter, etc?
Im new to Acura, owned this car for over a year now. My experience has been pretty good overall... No complaints (esp compared to my previous car). My brother is looking for a car now and I honestly have no major complaints about this Acura TLX. It has a luxury feel, rides smooth, gets pretty good gas mileage, the speakers are okay for my tastes..... My experience pretty much echos your review (a good car with some random issues maybe, but nothing detrimental or consistent). Great video, thanks 👌🏾
Agreed its certainly a very nice car and thanks again for stopping by!
Hi wondering if you still have this car? Wondering how you feel about the transmission around town... does it feel lazy or has enough grunt?
@curseknight5 I actually don't have it anymore only due to an accident. Now I have the MDX. No issues but I did get a recall notice about a fuel pump part that is defective about a month ago. This could cause an issue that seems like transmission issues. I think it could be affecting Acura and Honda.
@@curseknight5 I always felt like it was a nice smooth ride with enough power.

Just bought a blue 2020 TLX. Did a reset on the transmission myself and seems alot better. It drives great. Love the V6
Just got a 2019 V6 with P-AWS and 12k miles on it, it's been great so far and I don't think I'll ever get tired of this car.
Just bought my V6 Advanced Package and I completely love it so far.
Picking one up tomorrow! I'm trying to flex like new money
Did you get it???

Hey thanks so much for stopping by and yes I agree i love driving the TLX a lot too
Do you have the 2.4 or the 3.5? I heard the turbo has issues
No problem
usually that’s just a low battery
I BOUGHT TLX V6 ADVANCE 2018 - CAR RUNS EXCELLENT FOR 3 YEARS NOW.. ILL KEEP IT FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS.

I have a 2020 and blew a speaker els audio is garbage

I just bought a 2020 TLX 2.4L..it’s our family car. We love the steering..it’s amazing! We kept our 13 TSX also...love that car too!

Still a pretty good car.
Mine does does jump forward sometimes when coming to a stop, I’ve read a lot of stuff about that happening with 2015 and 16
ZF on the V6 doesn't have "issues." It's disappointing.
Nice job. Honest and intelligent review. Thanks 🙏
Appreciate it thank you my friend!

Thanks so much my friend check out the review I did as well for interior info
Thank you so much for your honesty
Glad you found value my friend!
Love my 2015 tlx yes lil vibrant but rides and fast
Yea those are some of the common issues for sure def a solid car as a whole

Haha yea they do make that here in the states it sounds great
i have a v6 idk how some people have the 4 cylinder
Hello I have that problem too did you fix it?
One of my favorite features in my 2020 TLX is the Jewel Eyes Headlight and different drive mode. The Sport + in the 4-cylinder with the VTEC kick in 😩😩. Yes, you can get a nicer Accord for the money, but I end up got the car for $30k down from $34k so I think it’s a steal. I’m enjoying it quite a lot.
Yea 2020 TLX is a steal rn
@@MeynMotorGroup it really is right now. Are you thrilled with the new TLX? I like the looks of it but I’m going miss the 8-speed dual clutch tho.
Yea I think it will be a good product and yes the 8 speed DCT was a gem a shame it won't make it to the new TLX
Great Review!! Thank You!
What color would you get/do you have?
Haha for sure my friend glad you appreciated it. And yes those new car incentives are def enticing for sure lol
Does the 2015 TLX have Daytime Running Lights?
Yes
I have not checked it inside myself (did check a TSX a few years ago), but isn't the back seat space too small, almost unusable for a 6 ft guy?
I just bought my TLX 2016 basic model with 20k miles from a Ford dealership bought it for around 19k USD. Took it to an acura dealership and everything is fine they ran test on it everything came out green. I've had it since December of 2019 great vehicle fun to drive no issues. Sound system and infotainment system is trash but its still a great reliable vehicle
Nice yea I like how you can get these cars low mileage at a good price that's the highlight for me and it does drive good like you mentioned
@@michaelgrant5258 Yea a lot of people man even my parents chose the Acura lol
The background looked cool too, it look like a green screen or something for a little for some reason 😄, can't wait to see what your next videos about
Hondas are reliable for sure I think but they have always been plagued with little reliability issues like transmissions were always an issue.
@@MeynMotorGroup I get what you mean, thanks
Back in the 90's only.
How much stuff did you have replaced? it sounds like you were in the dealer every week with vibration issues?
I got a 2005 Acura TL and I was thinking about upgrading to this car. I’m pushing almost 200k 😢
There’s a 2017 Technology package for sale by me with no warranty because it’s being sold from a VW dealership. Was wondering if I should chance it.
Try cleaning your Mass Air Flow sensor, throttle body and intake system. You'll be fine
I am looking at a used 2016 tlx with the V6 engine with 50k miles at $23k would.thia be a good deal the Carfax shows it was a lease vehicle with no accident reports
So would you recommend the v6 or 2.4?
2.4 for sure
The TSX was notorious for having issues w/ several car owners having to deal with transmission & engine issues. The TLX is a much better & more reliable car.
Turn the active noise cancelation off through developer mode
How are the leatherette seats on the base model? Specifically wondering how they handle in the heat since I live in Texas. Thanks!
tint the window and your good lol
I have a 2017 TLX in Houston and leatherette has held up fine. Better than leather.
Love the TLX. Few niggles that are annoying but overall a very solid sedan. With a acceptable level of performance.
"Niggles" interesting word choice lmao
Thanks!
Thanx bro stay safe 😎👍🏾
I like my 2003 TL so much. At 150k miles it still works great. I thought I would have another 3-4 years. But a mystery water leak into the cabin leaves me with 5” water on the drivers side floor. And mold grows in 2 days. I’m severely allergic to mold and won’t be able to get it out. Advice on water leak or best Acura sedan replacement
Very nice!
get you a 2020 ilx or 2020 tlx that car has ran its course im afraid to say
Check the sunroof drains. Chances are they might be disconnected and leaking to your floors.
Might buy a 2016 one
I'm debating between CPO 2018 TLX and a 2019 Accord 1.5T. Price difference is almost negligible. Infotainment HVAC is clearly superior in the accord. Thoughts?
Accord is actually a better car but TLX drives pretty well in a unique way and has more prestige
I have no issues with the AWD and my 9 speed . I got the tech package AWD V6. It's awesome ... Only two issues infotainment system is weak and some vibration at high speed 80+... Lol
Nice that's good to know vibration could go away with an alignment tho could be an easy fix enjoy that awesome car
How long have you been driving ? Which year model did you get? I'm looking for a V6 FWD. Please let me know the price and your location.
Thanks
@@PatilsNinad brought it in 2017, it's a 2016.. got it for 25k and I live in the bay area.. had 7K miles on it. When I bought it

Is it true that 2016 Acura TLX has transmission issue ???
Thank you!
would you get this or a 2012 is350? for a first car
both AWD
Dude thank you for this info ! Great speech- clear, informative, impressive. Absolutely brilliant! Going to buy tlx sh awd with 100 K km. will see technical analysis from the motor pool
Glad it was helpful!
It is nice that you revisit cars even 10 year old models! Any cabin creaks/squeaks in those Acuras?
Thank you my friend, and no it is a tight cabin space!
Someone respond to me , what’s the highest mileage they’ve seen a 15-20 TLX
Is buying a 2015 Acura tax with 140,000 miles for 12,000 worth getting?
Selling 2015 Acura tlx advanced package for 13,500.
Where u located
@@robertyang3685 in California it the car is in Arizona
Nice massive congrats my friend. Yes it's a very solid car and it drives tremendously thanks again for stopping by
I’m looking at replacing my 08’ 528i with a TLX.
V6 with super handling AWD is amazing 9 speed transmission is ok not the best but engine makes up for it. Get a CPO V6 SHAWD model if you can
Exhaust Sports Auto thats the model I’d get. TLX’s are pretty popular here in Houston, but not the SH-AWD models. There’s really no need for AWD down here. I’ll see if I can find one though.
I’ve had my V6 tlx for 2 years now replaced a engine that’s been honestly the only major problem but then again I got 160k on the odometer 🤷🏽♂️
How much did that cost
@@Thegoat-4L I had got a junkyard engine luckily the engine had only 14k on it but it cost me 1300 plus another 200 for the shop to put it in

Did you ever cross-shop the Lexus IS300 / IS350? Curious what you thought if you test drove both
I have reviewed the IS350 on the channel already and yea I think Lexus is the superior car but when my parents were looking at the cars, Lexus is always far more expensive in the used car market for similar miles and year by like 5-6k dollars which is a lot.
I just got this same car but the v6 sh awd technology package... should I get the extended warranty or no
I got the bumper to bumper extended warranty should I keep or cancel it my car like new only 26,000 miles on it it was an extra $2000 for 6 years with $50 Deductible... should I cancel??
Think if that wasn't under warranty though. That's major. I guess if you dont have to turn, 70 percent of these problems wont exist
