  • Five years and 200,000 miles ago, Acura's marketing team gave me the key to a new car and asked me to blog about it on my website, "Drive to Five" (www.drivetofive.com). Here's a recap of where that 6-speed ILX has taken me. Thanks for being a part of the journey!

From your story to the cinematography & how well the ILX looks after all these miles. You’ve been a great inspiration for me, as well as a great friend. I look forward to seeing the rest of your journey here & behind the scenes!
    Hopefully behind the wheel of an A-Spec TLX! Congrats!

    Typical Honda, these things will last if you take care of them like Tyson did and it’s amazing that 200,000 miles later, it still looks brand new, clean, and well taken care of. This is an example of a car that shows that it’ll do you good when you do your due diligence for maintenance 👏👏👏 Acura chose the best person to take care of this ILX, and I hope that family member takes just as good care of it as you did.

    I’m an old lady and I don’t like to drive, The car I had for 13 years before my Acura only had 78,000 miles and it was a 2002. I really hadn’t seen a car that appealed to my eye in a long time except the Acura. Even though I don’t drive much I bought a 2017, It feels so easy to drive and I have had so many men tell me it’s a really good car, I’m satisfied. I’m loving the design. Looking at your collection gave this old lady another reason to have confidence and love for my Acura that only had 10,000 miles on it when I bought it. I bought it mostly because it’s sooo pretty!

    Your vids actually helped to convinced me to pick up a 2014 ILX. Same drivetrain, too. I've had it for a few weeks and I must say I absolutely love this car. While it may be a while before I hit 200k like yours did, I have no doubt that I will still own it when it does. Amazing vehicle. Cheers and good luck with that A-Spec!

      Hey hows the car been?

    • @AnAlbanyExpression
      @AnAlbanyExpression 2 года назад

      @@semirjemill It's been great. No longer a daily driver but more of a weekend thing. Fun. Zippy. Kinda uncommon on the road. No issues mechanically but it's still well south of 100k miles.
      I applaud the vid creator for putting so many miles on his but I dont like it for long stretches of highway driving. It does put off a fair amount of road noise and in sixth gear at 75 mph its pushing 3200 rpms. I also feel like the gas mileage is mediocre for the power and displacement of the engine. If you're not married to driving a stick the 2016 and up has the same power and significantly better mileage thanks to the eight speed dual clutch.

    I just bought a 2020 ILX Premium Aspec with 31K miles. Last year I drove 37K miles and my wife drove 30K. I was looking for a fun, unique, economical, reliable car that will take the miles. My plan is to put another 150K or so on it over the next 5 years and then hand it off to my son who will be 17 then. The car could very well have 200K plus. I'm excited about the goal. Years ago I put over 300K on an Integra and only replaced brakes, tires and one alternator.

    Just wanted to say I’ve been watching your videos in your continent for about 2 1/2 years and it’s simple and well put together and I just wanted you to know that I’m also a Honda Acura enthusiast and I have my own collection and some of the cars are the same as yours but anyway I just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your videos they’re well put together. Really quick a funny story I have been searching for GSR for a long time I did finally get a low mile 98 GSR that is my pride and joy but in my search I ran across The gentleman who purchased your supersonic blue GSR and I almost bought it but that was a cool little story but anyway continue what you’re doing have fun and be safe God bless oh PS what camera do you use for your videos?

    After spending so much seat time in the ILX, what are your thoughts on the seats? I'm upgrading from a Saab 9-5, so I've been spoiled with very good seats for the past couple of years. I love the ILX, but I'm hesitant to buy because I don't know how the seats feel after a full day's worth of driving.

    • @TysonHugie
      @TysonHugie  5 лет назад

      I find the seats comfortable, at least I've never thought of them as "un" comfortable. Not sure how much time you're spending on the car each day, but give it a test drive and see what you think. They definitely have less side bolster support than my Legends, but I like that the footwells are deeper and more roomy so I can stretch out a little.

    Funny, we are from Illinois and drive to Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico once a year for vacay. When your on some of those Rockies roads at night where it's many many miles in beteween of towns and nowhere with no cell reception, I feel better drving a Acura\Honda over my BMW every time and I've owned both side by side. While I appreciate BMW's for rear wheel dive, etc, Honda products just never let me down.

    I do not understand why 200K seems like a huge milestone specially if those are Highway Miles, Those are nothing on a modern Honda Engine.. This should be updated once that engine reach 1 million miles which is the new milestone for Hondas. I expect any new Honda or Acura to AT LEAST take me to 500K on the original engine and trans.

    • @TysonHugie
      @TysonHugie  7 лет назад +16

      I understand that, and I agree. I have a Legend with 554,000 miles on it. The point of the video is not just the miles, it's the fact that the car got to 200,000 in only 5 years and required only 1 non-scheduled maintenance item. Thanks for viewing!

    Hello, thinking about its 2019 model just the base model though and IF I do get it, it will be my first luxury car, how is the regular maintenance cost of this? Insurance cost as well, since it's a luxury is it like sky rocket high compare to let's say a civic? Base price is pretty interesting compare to other entry level luxury car, any catch?? :-) I was thinking maybe it will get me when it comes to maintenance and insurance cost of owning this car. Thanks.

    • @TysonHugie

      Maintenance is not expensive, the car's drivetrain is largely shared with Honda products. Honestly I have not had any issues with pricing of this ILX being higher than some Hondas I had in the past (maintenance & insurance wise).

    My 2013 ILX 2.4 seems to be having problems with the push button start. Some days no issues, some days will take 7-8 tries to finally start the car. Any thoughts?
    Also get a random ‘whirling noise’ while releasing the clutch in 1st gear. That happens about 4-5 times a week only for about 1 second at a time.
