You're always welcome to keys of any car I own at any given time! I have been super happy with the RLX, especially the fact that it's paid for. It's been very reliable and affordable to drive. I love the spreadsheets you have created that show all those stats!

In July of 2020 I purchased a brand new RLX Advance Hybrid at Rallye Acura in NY. Sticker was $63k. With all the Acura and dealer discounts I paid $47k. I own 3 cars, but the RLX is my daily road warrior vehicle. I am at just over 120k miles. I did buy a 6 year 120k mile Acura factory extended warranty at time of car purchase. Never had to use it. Zero repairs. Still has all original brakes. Replaced 1 battery last year and 2 replacement sets of Michelins. Burns zero oil and on summer fuel I average about 32mpg in metro Washington DC. I had 2 prior RLs a 2006 and a 2012. Both are still on the road too as my Acura tech buys my cars. Probably the best car for the money I will ever own and the most reliable. The RLX was a real hidden gem sleeper.

At the time of this car's debut, there was a trend away from V8s in large sedans. Some automotive reviewers panned this car for being an Accord Plus since the top engine choice was a six-cylinder@GS-zc4sk .

@@GS-zc4sk don't think this is it. Lexus GS and LS are both discontinued now too. Unless you're comparing the Lexus ES but that one is lower priced and more of a TLX competitor. The high end market for sedans have always been dominated by Germans and now electric cars

Always wanted to drive one of these had a Lexus GS 350 very similar car. How is the torque steer and traction loss if you slam it off the line? My 2013 GS did a great job traction and handling wise I would think the FWD would hurt the RLX in that respect.

Hey man! This is a GREAT look back! I've always loved the RL (Refined Luxury) since its '96 debut. I don't personally feel like the RL was given a proper chance and interest by consumers. I think that this was largely in part of when it was launched. The then still new SUV craze was increasingly boiling up, and then the concept of the "CUV" hitting a home-run with the first ever Lexus RX300 and Volvo XC70 estate. Unfortunately the RL had suffered from such new vehicles with its sales. Do you adapt easily to driving an automatic like this one from the usual manual drivers I see you in? Another underestimated vehicle from early years was the Infiniti Q45! How much is your Mom charging for the rental fee? 😅

    • @TysonHugie

Low sales is relative. In 2009 Honda sold 9 units of the KB2 Legend in Germany, so over 17K in seven years do not sound so low to me, haha. In October 2010 Honda stoppt the Legend sales in Europe. Last week I bought a 2010 Legend KB2, wich was first registered in August that year. It is possibly the last new Legend ever registered in Germany. So sadly we never got the KC platform in hole of Europe. Just a handful KC2's are in eastern Europe and it seems like one had found it's way to Germany. At the moment I do not know, if it is a Legend or a RLX but I will find out soon.

I may be off, but this is a top of the line luxury car that represents the best you could get from Acura or from any car maker for that matter at the time. MSRP was $55k. You want something like this now? You'll spend $80-100k. We want cars like this but who has that kind of money? Inflation is one thing and I won't go there, but I'll just say this is why I love Acura. You get your money's worth. And get a good product that lasts all for a fair price. Imo you can't lose with Acura. Unless you don't appreciate what you own or don't maintain your car very well. You'll probably always lose financially if you don't take care of your things 🤷

  • @TonyWareOne

The hybrid had lots of issues, nevertheless it was a gem. Those who maintained it properly still owned it. But some report about the frame bending and cracking the windshield, or perhaps just internet rumors and some people who perhaps were looking for cheap excuses, who knows... let us know if your mom's RLX develops that issue. Otherwise that RLX hybrid was ahead of its time. Acura needs to rethink their strategy and re-introduce it! Also nice to see in one of the documents you have Coopers on, yup, as much as I like the usual Acura OEM Michelins, these Coopers Zeon last for ever.
