@Everyman Driver, hey man Not to sound like a complete prik but you failed to mention this is still riding on the 9th gen civic platform and the dual screen crappy nagivation from 2005, AND NO FREAKIN MANUAL TRANSMISSION!??! CMON it looks nice but Very disappointing indeed~ =(

I love it because it's basically a nicer Civic Si (last gen) with an automatic. I love the Si but I'm the only one in my family that can drive a manual...and that's a no go in an emergency situation where someone else would have to drive my car. It's the perfect car for me, which is why I plan on picking one up very soon.
This is exactly why the ILX is on my short list. I want a fun car that my wife can also enjoy driving. I'm honestly getting sick of the automotive press and commentariat complaining about the lack of manual transmissions in cars. Automatics and DCTs today are faster and more fuel efficient. Whenever I get the urge to drive a stick, I remember the months I spent with a 35-mile one-way commute in Chicago traffic that I had to endure while owning one. Never again.
Appeals to me just because it doesn't have that horrible CVT from the Civic.

Have this car in my garage, and Love it. Love the 2.4L engine with the DCT. Out of all the Honda's and Acura's imo, best looking car and even amongst its competitors. Just love being in the car. I love cars for the feel and driving experience, I couldn't care less about infotainment systems. Couple sources say this car is 0-60mph 6.2-6.7 sec which is very decent. This car is the total package in its price range.

@@mrbmoney2396 DC Transmission is Silky Smooth and so far so good, absolutely no issues after 18 month. Hope that helps.

This is still one of my top choices for driving an automatic car. I dunno, I just love Honda/Acuras.
Upgraded from a 09 civic to the ILX Aspec and I've loved every second of driving it. Very fair review 👌
@Les Moore didn’t see the comment. I love the car, no problems at all. But I need something bigger, I got back into fishing hard and need something with more space. I feel like I abuse my poor little car but putting a huge paddleboard on my roof rack and jamming the truck and back seat with fishing gear ya know. But the car has been reliable and even saved me from a car accident.
I own a 2016 ILX and it is a great vehicle. Very good on gas. I don't like the headroom in it, but it has a v-tech engine and has get up and go. This car is going to my daughter when she graduates high school and will be a great companion for when she goes to college. A no hassle, no maintenance vehicle that only needs oil changes. Love, Love, love!
Was thinking about getting a 2016 ILX a-spec. Do you know how it compares to something like an Accord Sport?
Forgot to mention. The ILX is $13k and has 7000 miles. Great deal. Just not 100% sure.
Mixed bag for the Acura ILX:
Pros: I Love the traditional gauge cluster (tacho and speed) and dashboard , and traditional shifter. Finally, nice to see again. These things work better, are simple, easier to use and look nice.
Cons: Low profile tires.. probably the reason the ride stinks.. and the low stance which causes poor visibility (for bad safety) and hurts overall comfort and access.
I've test drove it 3 times just to make sure I liked it. I think it's a great car for a single person. Love the DCT, The infotanment system is a learning curve but coming from a 2017 Sentra SR Turbo it is a nice upgrade
Wanted an upgrade from my Sentra. Almost got a Lexus but the price difference wasn't justified. I get all the luxury car dealership perks and still got to stay in the budget I had established for myself. Gotta say it feels like winning
Id luv to get one of these as a value (but sweet) daily driver. Honda/Acura are the way to go for people who want value/reliable long term ownership. This car may not be for you if you're primary goal is to impress friends.
I own a 2020 ILX ASpec overall it’s a good car for it’s price range. It handles well and have decent power. You can pretty much choose any car and criticize it and pick it apart
My main gripe, too much front overhang. Liking the dual screen setup though.
I think this is an excellent car for the price including Honda's reliability along with low maintenance cost.

I just discovered this car. I could get a luxury premium version of the Civic!! This car still has the 2.4 reliable engine, and not a frking turbo. NOTE: All Civic come with turbo. I just bought a 2018 RDX with V-6 engine and now I am going to buy this for a second car. It came with everything for $26,000.
It really seems Honda could be doing alot more with 99% of the Acura lineup.
Acura offerings were among some of the best in sporty cars of the early 90's... now it seems Honda isn't investing nearly as much in the lineup.

Its a perfect beginners car for a single person looking to get into the luxury market.
If you can get it at a good price, why not. Better lookng then a civic in any flavor.

This is an awesome car, regardless of not having some features to comparisons, it looks great and can be fun, while giving a taste of luxury and sportiness without compromising like comparisons... expresses Mr Honda philosophy of not being one dimensional like All Honda products.

Most of them don't actually require premium gasoline. Including ILX models, can be driven on regular 87 gasoline.

Dave, how does this compare to the new Mercedes A-class? I think they are competing in the same segment. That A-class looks like a sweet baby luxury ride, if maybe overpriced.
The updated ILX styling looks nice outside, but I'm not a fan of the dinner plate size Acura emblem on the front. Tacky. Why not just print a huge Acura emblem decal on the hood so it can be seen from space?

It depends I wouldn’t buy the Benz because of reliability and how much it depreciates if anything lease the Benz and get out before the 2 year mark trust me but the 2020 ILX is around the corner with the updated interior similar to the new 2019 RDX

@@Consolethumbs Great points. The ILX will likely be a lot more reliable in the long run and hold it's value better. I just wish their interiors actually looked luxurious. They look very Honda non-luxury.

All those lane departures, auto driving crap just drive up the cost and will be a repair...just like the hands free link on the 3rd generation that drained the battery. I'd swap all those over-hyped features for a v-6 with real horsepower( not turbo) and gives us a manual option....with 300 hp...

Ashamed that the vehicle isn't tall driver friendly/Passenger friendly plus I do agree with the 2 screen monitor being very distracting. But having all those safety features with the car is good but way to late since kia started
Doing that in 2016 in all the vehicle lineup at a cheaper price plus reliable little tanks they are especially the soul and their all tall friendly. Thank you for this review video everyman!!

The ILX does not compete with the 3 Series, that would be the TLX so that reference is a moot point. This is basically a compact car...that is soon to be replaced. Geez Dave, nobody called the Civic, Corolla, Mazda 3 etc a family car. This is about the same size, just a bit more premium. This is just a facelift of the old car that has been around for years. A new one is coming Dave, so ease up a bit.....an edit that misleading title.

Good looking car but at 5'10" it was too small both for leg room and seat height, plus, I hit my head getting out of the car. Agree with this review, the ride was stiff, a bit noisy -didn't feel like a lux car. Would be good for short commutes and around town, is easy to park.

They should have put the new 2-litter turbo that is in the rdx and the accord but no they went with the old k24
They should have put a manual transmission as an option.
The A-Spec package is every cosmetic doodad I DON'T want on a car.
Main reason is because it will be replaced for the second generation next year
For 2019 the interior doesn't look luxurious at all. Looks like 2009 to me
aged interior design. i would go for new 2019 mazda3 which interior look way nicer and feels more premium and less money.
The interior looks nicer, but the 3 has less power and worse handling due to its torsion beam rear suspension. Pass.

Acura has never seemed like a luxury car. Lexus has sharp, modern and elegant styling. Sit in a Lexus and feel the upscale, soft touch, high quality materials. Acura just looks cheap.

Redline reviews likes more of a premium vehicle (Porsche & Tesla) “yea I know Tesla isn’t premium”.
TFL likes More of the off-road type of vehicles & their testing is kinda odd.
AutoGuide is almost owned by Honda/Acura so I wouldn’t trust their reviews.
And I’m not even going to mention the EV nut-jobs out there.

Honda has never been attractive to me. I always thought they were kinda ugly wannabe sports cars. I think bmw and mercedes make the best looking cars. NOW with the look of a sleek mercedes but reliability of a honda, this acura gives me a reason to pick one of these up. I want one regardless if its just a facelifted civic. This car is a head turner and isnt that partly why we love cars. YES

At the end of the day Benz is miles ahead of Acura. Mercedes made the CLA so Acura could actually compete and they still lost.
@@RomanM803 It takes too much money to take care of Benz's , hence why they are money pits. Honda's and Toyota's don't take much money in order to take care of them. So why burden yourself with thousands of dollar's required to "take care" of a Mercedes Benz when you can have a Honda or Toyota that doesn't cost a whole lot of money to take care of.
