    "I feel like we all have 2 battles going on. 1 with the man across from you. The 2nd is with the man inside of you. I think once you control the one inside you, the one across from you really don't matter." -Tony Romo. That's a life lesson if I've ever heard one.

    This is a guy who has almost all the Cowboys records, was only invited to the combine to be a thrower not even work out. Then went as an UDFA. How far he came from being irrelevant to being one of the best the Cowboys have ever had.

    THIS, THIS right here cements tony's legacy as a cowboy. He's a class act, and is tough as nails. you didn't see brett favre or drew bledsoe do something like this when their successors came into fruition. As a cowboys fan, I can only hope that we make it all the way this year and have tony at least hold that trophy in his hands before he ends his run as a cowboy.

    even though im not a cowboys fan, ive always liked Romo for his willingness to go out on the field and give it his all. a lot times his efforts has been to little avail or has cost him major injuries... this dude has a huge heart for his passion of the game. and i respect him greatly for that. truly an inspiring man for all he has tried to accomplish and i believe Romo still has a lot of football let in him. if not with Dallas, im sure there are a lot of other teams that would love to have him.

  • @hawkeyeplerce5238
    @hawkeyeplerce5238 8 лет назад +294

    Why does this feel like goodbye? To the end of an era? I'm not even a fan of the Cowboys and I kinda started to get choked up at this. All my life, Romo was one of the most famous quarterbacks in the NFL to me. When I was a little little kid it was Brady, Manning, Brees, and Romo. That's all I knew until I got older and more into the sport. This makes me so sad that Romo has given everything he has, his whole career, whole life to this Cowboys team. And interception and injury jokes aside, he was an amazing quarterback. And now to see him be benched by a rookie after hardly any decline at all aside from ability to stay healthy is really sad, for him to give his all and then be sat aside because a rookie comes in and steals the show while he's injured; yet unlike Bledsoe or Favre, he's accepting it and that's awesome. I'm a Cardinals fan through and through, and I want more than anything for Larry Fitzgerald to get his ring before he goes... But at this point I think Fitz still has a few years left in him and this might be Romo's last season, at least with the Cowboys by the looks of it so if Arizona doesn't make it, I hope more than anything that the Cowboys go and win it all just so Romo can have the honor of hoisting that lombardi trophy... as what he always has been and always will be: a Cowboy, and as someone who now has all the respect I can give. You're a good man Romo, and I hope Canton Ohio sees you the same way. From the Red Sea, much respect to you and your Cowboys.

    • @eazyduzit-tr3nx

      Hawkeye Plerce
      Good stuff man, I've seen a lot of Romo haters now acting all nice and giving respects to him just bc everybody else is doing it and it just comes off fake to me but yours comes off genuine judging by how much effort you put in your post. So props to you.
      As a long time Cowboys fan I'd rather see Romo hoisting that Lombardi trophy as THE man leading that team not as a backup. Whether it's here in Dallas or somewhere else, it would be much better if he was the starting QB leading his team to a SB victory.

      I've been on the Dak train since day 1, but in no way do I dare disrespect what Tony has meant to the Cowboys. As in many things in life timing is everything. I truly believe this is Dak's time. Felt it the moment Tony went down. Just look at Dak's story, the way he's earned his starting jobs, and this had fate written all over it. Tony has given everything to this team and he deserves our utmost respect. Wouldn't want Dak learning from anyone else. Can't imagine what Tony has been going through. I know it's been eating him alive. Thanks Tony for keeping hope alive during some of our darkest days as Cowboys fans!

I really do love Romo and seeing him play, especially the few times I've seen him live in stadium was always an amazing experience. Ups and downs and all. Going to miss seeing Romo starting on the field, a true class act, and the greatest Dallas Cowboy's QB of all time in my eyes. #CowboysNation

  • @chrisp2956
    @chrisp2956 8 лет назад +48

    Not even a Cowboys fan but this guy has always been a top 5 QB to me. He carried the team when they had no weapons and a terrible defense. He's labeled as a choke artist even though he has more 4th quarter comebacks than any other guy in the league. And he's one of the best scramblers that can extend plays into deep bombs, not just take off and run like Newton or Wilson. Only Big Ben is better than Romo at that aspect. And he was just a nobody coming to the Cowboys undrafted. I can't say he's as inspirational as Kurt Warner, but he's always been one of my favorite players.
    I'm 22 and have been watching football growing up since I was kid. While I don't have memories of the great QBs, my favorite top of all time since I can remember has been 1) Brett Favre 2) Payton Manning 3)Michael Vick 4)Kurt Warner 5)Tony Romo. I'm a Saints fan and surprise myself that I don't consider Brees in my top 5 favorite.

      Sebastian Pessi but he's not the better one, look at stats from his past few years. he's practically made of metal because of all the surgeries... you cannot say that he's better. he lead his team to 8-1. when was the last time that happened with romo? nothing wrong with him, I love romo, and I'm a broncos fan..

      MenuTube he is a better QB, and the team around him is FINALLY good, only to see a rookie reaping the benefits. Last time Tony played a full season (2014), he had the BEST QBR in the league and was one bad play from being in the NFC title game...

      Sebastian Pessi yeah i agree he is better than dak and i believe that if tony played they would still be a top contender for the superbowl. All Romo has done is be an undrafted free agent and climb up the ranks to the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys with the 2nd HIGHEST QB rating in the history of the NFL. He just plays with class and doesn't have distractions or get in trouble yet he consistently gets ripped by the public and the media. Thanks for the memories Tony!

    Romo is as good a QB as the Cowboys Ever had. He lacked the supporting cast most of the years. I saw him do things that I doubt
    any other QB could have done. When he failed, it was due primarily because he was trying to do what was nearly impossible.
    If he had had the offensive line back 4-5 years ago, there is no telling where he would have taken this team. As is, I'm happy to see
    him leave with as much money as he can take with him. Jones owes him!

    Tony has been my favorite player since he started....he's always been unfairly criticized and never got enough credit. For most of his career he had an average defense at best and below average of o-line (until recently) and still always gave his team a chance to win. He never cried or complained like a lot of other quarterbacks do he just held his head up and took whatever came his way. He literally gave everything he had to this team. I wish he coulda went out like he deserved but this shows you what kinda man he is that he stood up there and passed his team onto Dak. This had to be so hard but he should have finally earned the respect he always deserved!

I didn't realize how depressed Tony was after seeing his team that he has led for so long, be overtaken by a rookie QB, This is one of the best speeches I've ever heard, and i can sympathize with him. I owe the biggest apology to Tony for all the hate I gave him. He was my favorite QB since 2008 when I first started watching the Cowboys. I remember when he led them to that 11-5 record in 2009 and won that wildcard game against the eagles. I remember when he had his worst playoff game against the vikings. Then the injury in 2010 the sidelined him for most the season. Ever since then it was nothing but criticism as he went 8-8 three times. Then the 2014 season comes along, and he silenced everyone, gets back in the playoffs, and almost makes in the conference championship. Everyone thought we would make it all the way in 2015. But then Romo got hurt again, and we couldn't win without him. I didn't have his back in his bad years, but now with Dak stepping in and Romo passing off the torch all I can think about is how much I'll miss Romo. I wish him the best and hope I can see him play one more season. Romo, You're the man!

    Coming from a Giants fan, Romo is a class act. I hope he comes to NY and plays for the Jets. This town would love a guy like him.

    That was awesome. Romo is a REAL team player. He sees what's happening and does not want anything, not even his own desire to play, to mess it up. Total class act.

    been a Romo fan since day 1 and as much as I like winning it sucks that Romo won't be the one leading us as of right now. this man could've been a hall of fame type qb for us.

    It just sucks that he finally had the team he suffered and waited for and to be done in at preseason, to go out that way when you still have alot of gas in the tank. Swallowing ones pride is the hardest thing to do. He knew his time was over. He passed the torch gracefully and with class and allowed dak to become who he is today. Romo deserves to be in the ring of honor and hall of fame

    😢 I cried during this. Through all the love and hate of my team, all the greats that have hung jerseys for this team at the Quarterback Position like: Don, Rodger Staubach, Troy, and Danny. all those guys, especially Troy and Rodger. I was just born when the Cowboys won their last superbowl, I don't have a connection to those guys like I do this man. Tony made me fall in love with the Cowboys. He was a gunslinger, and he deserves a ring, but I don't want him having a ring and it not be with the Silver and Blue...he needs to be a Cowboy for life. And this...this is just class personified. You're not a Cowboys fan if you couldn't stand Tony Romo, You're not a Cowboys fan if you think Tony needs to start over Dak...You're a Cowboys fan if you realize we just need the W's...and this man Tony Romo is letting us keep getting the W's. From Undrafted Rookie Free Agent, to reincarnation of Drew Bledsoe...the man will always be my Quarterback who made me love the game. The ups and downs were fun, the come from behind victories were nerve racking, the thanksgiving games and classy attitude in the locker room will be in my heart. I hope how ever this plays out, Dak and Romo, keep the train rolling. Both Class Acts and I love it.

      Tajh Walker yes we do. dak over threw the receivers 7 different times on Sunday one on a 3rd and 2. dak don't throw the ball down field and when he does he's the 12th worst QB throwing the ball over 20 yards.

    I will always have respect for #9 Tony Romo. I've watched him play since elementary school and now in college, I will forever have his back and admire the way he sacrificed his body for the team. His legacy is forever embedded in the Dallas Cowboys organization and I can't thank this man enough for all he has done for the team. #9
