Jason Matthews dude, wtf are you talking about? Every time any qb discussion is being made Drew Brees is top 5 not only now but arguably top 5 all time. I’ve never seen or heard him not get his respect. Btw, Brees doesn’t have one single highlight of himself dipping multiple defenders with clear shots at him like Romo has up near 15-20 plays like that in his career. Dude was incredible. But no, not better than Brees.

Tony Romo is one of the best of all time to not win a Super Bowl. Hell he's honestly one of the best of all time period. The stats he put up and the things he accomplished playing for one of the most dysfunctional front offices ever is amazing. Had Bill Parcells stayed he would've probably won a Super Bowl or 2. Romo had to constantly overcome a shitty team and coaching staff. The only reason they even had a chance to make the playoffs the years they fell short was because of Romo. He never had any help until his body was beaten up and breaking down. The best chance he had was 2014 which was a MVP season for him and the refs screwed him on that. Most underappreciated QB and one of the best.

Dont let few highlights alter your history. Romo also threw interceptions galore. Say what you guys will about Dak Prescott, but a stat that isnt looked at often enought is game winning drives. Dak has 14 since he was a rookie to now. The only player who has almost as many is Tom Brady. Let that sink in. Dak is good enough right now but give him one or two more years with a good QB coach and he'll win championships. Romo just lacked that clutch gene. Dak has it.

Another thing people forget is how lost those Cowboys teams were without him from 2007-2015. Romo: 61.5% win rate. Cows backups 25.5% win rate. This was the biggest drop off from starter to backup win rate in the NFL over this period of time. Some might want to say it's simply a function of Dallas having especially bad backups over this stretch, but it also indicates Romo was much better than most franchise QBs at doing more with less overall support.

Romo never had an elite o-line (got it at the twilight of his career, after he was all banged up), had Ok receivers, had decent RB's, but never had an elite defense. Without Romo, those 8-8 seasons would've been 6-10 seasons at best. He did a lot for this team but unfortunately Jerry Jones and clappy hands Garrett never gave him a real team. This man deserved a lot more respect than what he gets.

Miss him. Man was a big part of my childhood, remember debating the shit out of my friends trying to prove he was a great qb. Still stand by that point, we never had a decent defense when he was playing, but he made all games incredibly fun. Good times.

Damn....If Romo had 2023 O & D Line....Superbowl for sure! Man was phenomenal as a QB - especially given what he had to work with! Totally deserved a Super Bowl win for his efforts. And now - a phenomenal game caller on TV...seriously, no joke there. Love watching/listening to Romo's game calling. Man should be a head coach somewhere!

I posted this elsewhere, but it bears repeating; Everything you need to know about the Cowboys with Romo can be summed up with the stats from one game. October 6, 2013. Denver is in town. He threw for 506 yards, five touchdowns, put up 48 points, a 140 rating, (better than Manning in that game), and Dallas lost. You know how many other times that has happened? None. Never.
Dallas had a crap-tastic D for essentially all of his career. Without him Dallas never would have finished better than 3-13. Oh, and he has a better career QB rating than EVERY QB currently in the Hall of Fame.

Trident Diving I’ve been a fan of the guy since he replaced Bledsoe. I remember watching that game against Denver. He threw an interception late in the fourth and was blamed for the loss. All true fans of the game should know how good Romo was. I wish they’d have stuck with him after dak. He wasn’t prepared for post season and has blown it twice. 🙄

Loved watching Romo play. Never gave up, a true gunslinger QB, wily and mobile even if it was because the line always broke down. Time and time again he proved that if you gave him just two minutes on the clock to get downfield and score when it mattered, he could do it.
