He got so much flak because he played for Dallas and because he didn’t do too well in playoff games. But he was very clutch in a lot of other games when we needed him.

Romo should be a future HoFer. He has 49 losses in which if you actually look at the games, most were not his fault. Someone else fumbled. Someone else dropped an easy pass. The defense gave up an insane number of points. Not to say that he's without fault, because some can be hung directly on him, but his record doesn't come close to showing his true talent.
My biggest disappointment will always be that we never got him a ring..

I'm a diehard Eagles fan, and I absolutely LOATHE the Cowboys. But I have always respected Jason Witten. The man is one of the toughest and most durable players that I have ever seen in my life, and watching him tear apart my Eagles for 15 years was very frustrating. There are always individual players that you appreciate on the teams you hate. Witten was that guy on the Cowboys. A great player and a rare class act for an organization filled with degenerates and arrogant loud-mouths. He always torched us and made us pissed off with how he always caught crucial third down passes and touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but he earned our respect as a phenomenal football player. I hope to see you one day enshrined in Canton, Jason. Fantastic career and a fantastic human being

Respect man, I thoroughly dislike our NFC East rivals, but glad to see sportsmanship isn't dead in the comments. The Giants piss me off the most as they are famous for knocking the Cowboys out of the playoffs. But the Eagles usually give the Cowboys a damn good run for their money. They also have one of the best uniforms in football, love the green jerseys.

Jason Witten, man of few words, man of many actions. Greatest tight end of the 2000's era. Gronk has the super bowls, but Witten has the passion, drive, and the class. It truly is a shame that the Jones family never managed to get Romo and Witten a ring. No defense to help them out for so many years. Makes me wonder what will happen with our new talent, Zeke and Dak. Hope it isn't wasted.

I don’t think it will be. We have a young defense that was ranked 7th in the league, and they have so much more to improve on. But, once that’s improved, it could be one of the top 3 in the league, no cap. We have amazing potential. Just a young team that’s still learning.

I think it's definitely worth a conversation. Gonzalez had better career receiving stats, but was he as good a blocker as Witten was? I don't know. The ability to block as well as receive is what makes a tight end.

Witten was always Romo’s go to target. Witten is no question, the greatest tight end in Cowboys history.
Romo preferred receivers in the endzone. But when Romo had less than a second to throw, Witten was Romos main target. And that made Witten very valuable because the olines were terrible.
The main thing about Jason Witten is: how do you cover him? He's sneaky fast, he's a lot stronger than he looks, and he's smart enough to read defenses and exploit them. One of the greatest TEs of all time and one of the greatest players of this generation period. Coming from a Pats fan.
Pretty easily actually you put a decent safety on him and don’t let him exploit openings in zone coverage the same way Kelce does today

When they have to deal with bigger physical DBs they can’t create separation without a push off. That’s why both players have been shut down in a lot of big games by better safeties

The Greatness of Witten begins with Sacrifice. He was an extra offensive tackle on Running plays and Dallas has always featured the running game. Reliability. No one ever had to wonder who was going to play tight end. Witten was there game after game after game. Oh, and he could catch in traffic and make the opponents wish they were guarding someone else.

It always amazed me how hard Witten was to bring down. I'd always see dudes coming for what I thought would be a big hit, and just bounce off of him or he'd just gently fall to the ground. Hard to find tight ends with his skill set .

By far one of my favorite NFL players of all time. He most definitely helped make me proud to be a Cowboys fan. Great character + great play = great inspiration. I even had the privilege to see live with him making that catch against the Eagles and to keep running with his helmet off. That literally taught me many lessons about how to go about a good quality of life just in that one play alone.
