      I knew Romo was special the first time I saw him play. After years of not having a really good team on both sides of the ball, he finally got one in 2016. Why they never let Romo play more than one meaningless series all year is way beyond comprehension to me. Romo + 2016 team = superbowl!. The most bone headed decision in the history of this franchise. To top that all off, Jerry and his "do right rule" screws Romo so he can't speak to anyone during free agency.

Name a receiver that had success with another qb after playing under romo. Also name a back who had success after playing with romo. Gotta be football smart to see beyond a players name. Lewis Yoder yeah but the week before they received a gift no flag call vs the lions that allowed them to hold on and win and thus avoid another playoff loss to lions, who by the way got their only playoff win vs Dallas.
      Embarrassing

    • @RobertJohnson-mn3br

      Mentor Tairi watch the Dallas/Detroit playoff game game on RUclips from same year. Dallas needed a bogus non-call pass interference to beat a rebuilding since 1957 Detroit lions “AT HOME”. This was CLEARLY not a championship team.

    • @nickbrown4696
      @nickbrown4696 4 года назад +8

      @@RobertJohnson-mn3br you mean the lions got a gift no call when Pettigrew held Hitchens' facemask so he couldn't turn his head and intercept a terribly thrown ball. Lions should have lost the down and been moved back but got a free play instead and failed to convert again.

    • @RobertJohnson-mn3br
      @RobertJohnson-mn3br 4 года назад +1

      Nick Brown first you can’t assume that he would’ve caught that terrible pass by Stafford. He was a LB. second, even with all the non-call and called penalty’s, Dallas, the supposed championship team that year, struggled against the sorry-ass Detroit Lions. This isn’t characteristic of a championship winning team but instead a team that once again was overrated and lacking a stud QB that can actually perform most when it matters the most. What did this “championship team” do the following year?
      Absolutely nothing

    • @nickbrown4696
      @nickbrown4696 4 года назад +5

      @@RobertJohnson-mn3br I'll give you Hitchens catching it isn't 100% but without the facemask he turns his head and this supposed controversy isn't even a discussion. That overrated team you speak of though held the lions to three second half points and their qb marched down the field with the game on the line and threw a game winning touchdown with a defender draped on him then the defense came out and took the ball back to ice it when it mattered. The next week they controlled green bay the majority of the game. Had the packers not scored before halftime after Aaron Rodgers literally skipped a pass across the ground to Randal Cobb before the blown Dez call that game looks different. Not to mention Murray getting stripped running through a hole you could drive a truck through that should have been a TD. None of that falls on Romo's shoulders so that's just a weak assessment. That team you deem overrated and incompetent in big moments had already gone to Seattle and left with a win that season on the back of their QB putting together a late fourth quarter drive.

    That third and long to Dez, Troy said the ball was under thrown. I beg to differ. Rolle had Dez covered high to defend the deep pass and jamming him. Romo recognized that Rolle was gonna deny the over the top pass and threw the ball low and behind Dez forcing him to stop and turn back for the ball, giving Dez a chance to make a play. Romo did these types of passes to Dez all the time because he knew Dez had great body control and could contort to make the catch. It's also why the back shoulder fade was such a weapon for them.

    A couple of points of interest: Tony Romo's first ever pass in a game: Interception on a Monday night against the Giants. He came into the game because Drew Bledsoe was getting booed out of Dallas that night. Ball deflected off of a Giants players' helmet. Tony's last NFL pass: A touchdown against Philly in Philly in a game that didn't matter at the time. I miss this guy, I really do. Nothing against Dak as he is definitely our future but.....Tony was fun to watch. Another side note: How many times did Demarco Murray lose his pants when getting tackled? I swear I saw his ass on national TV at least 3 times......

      Kyle Segovia Kyle I liked Dez. But he had his faults which took his value down as a player. He was pouty on sidelines from time to time. He had a blow up with Jason Witten while playing lions in the game in which his top WR comparison had damn near 300 yards. I liked him because he was physical but that physicality cost him with injuries which killed his speed. Because of his reduced ability his 13-15 million yearly salary was too much to stomach. Thus he became overrated. But for a while he was a worthy no. #88.

      Not true. Dak received Dez after four injuries and two surgeries. Dez always cited play calling as an issue as well. I'll give you an example. Look at the interception Dak threw in the 2016 playoffs. That was the EXACT play and similar outcome of the Cowboys/Giants game in 2012 week 8. Difference is JPP pick six Romo. Also it was Dak not Tony to give both Dez and Witten their only post season TDS. Some things you have to research instead of using the optics of public opinion.

      @@toddinthemiddle they probably let that go because it was a pass interference in the endzone anyways no point overturning that and there wasn't clear evidence to overturn it. Which was why there was zero controversy. Not too mention it was in the 3rd quarter so it wasn't in crunch time like this one and in green bay.

    For everyone that doesn't think Romo wasn't good, I want to point out seven games. I know what you are thinking, but stick with me. In those seven games, he had 17 TDs, 3 ints, 101 passer rating, and led the Cowboys to an average of 28 points. If those were the first 7 games of a season, that would be potential MVP talk. But, those games were all from 2013 and all were LOSSES because the Cowboys allowed an AVERAGE of 37 points per game. They made Josh McGowen and Matt Flynn ( I know.... Who and who?) look like superstars. In those seven losses, the defense gave up 400 yards 3 times and a 4th had 392 yards. Each opposing QB average 25 points higher in the passer rating. And in the case of the loss against the Broncos and Bears, the defense forced ZERO punts. And yet, all fingers were pointed at Romo for being a failure. This is very typical. Romo wasn't perfect, but he was far from the problem.

Now, maybe Dak and them can pull it together this year. I though last year they were headed right the second half of the season till that cardinals game. Everything went south from there.

    I remember this game. I was at this place called The eagles club I was with a good friend of mine his soon to be wife and at the time my fiance and my mom. inside this eagles club there was all these New York Giants and these Redskins fans and they were all talking so much smack. As soon as I realize they were in field goal range. I immediately started celebrating. The only cowboys fans in the whole building was just us five. And I remember my buddy going calm down man it's not over you don't know because we were surrounded by the other fans. And I just stood up and said the game's over we won Because I had so much faith in our kicker. That was a great night . I lost all of them.
