Man....the pain is Romos eyes when talking about the end of the Lions game and how good it felt to get the win knowing what was coming in the Packers game and also him talking about the Dez Bryant catch is heartbreaking. He deserved a Super Bowl more than anyone. I'll always love #9 and what he did for the Dallas Cowboys. My favorite player still to this day

That “Dez Catch” was his redemption. It really was an amazing throw and catch in an a amazing moment in a game where it mattered but sadly was robbed by incompetence

One of my favorite Tony Romo moments was when CBS had to tell him to tone down his broadcasting because during his first season there was a stretch of games where he would correctly predict almost every play

He was a solid quarterback, but I could most definitely listen to him in the broadcast booth and listen to him break down a game. Guy loves football and is passionate about it, and you love to see and hear it.

3 THINGS COWBOY FANS NOW KNOW:
1) Dez caught the ball. Touchdown.
2) Dallas coaches, management, and fans colluded on the greatest act of DISLOYALTY ever seen in the NFL, when they acted as if Romo was nothing when he returned from injury, having replaced him with Dak. Only the DISLOYALTY of the Patriots coach and owner against Tom Brady has ever exceeded that which was given Romo.
3) Dak has produced nothing of value since replacing Romo as QB, and he never will. Romo was at his best, you discarded him, you treated him like trash, and now Dallas has “The Curse Of Tony” hanging over the franchise. And listen closely Dallas: it has gone on for years so far, and it will last for DECADES.
That 2014 “catch” will live in every cowboys fan’s head that remembers watching that game until the day the Cowboys win. It is the biggest what if a lot of cowboys fans have ever witnessed. It really seemed like the stars did align for the boys that year

@@dopeascopebrother60 they had already beat Seattle in Seattle that year, which in that time period was only Seattle's second loss at home in like 3 seasons. In fact cowboys dominated them alot more than score suggests. Seattle got a td from a blocked punt td return. And got another td from cowboys punt returner dropping the punt that Seattle picked up. Cowboys still won 30-23, but take away those punt team mistakes it is 30-9.
Cowboys were 12-0 that season when Romo was playing healthy or at least able to take his pain meds for his 2 broken bones in his back.
But still, I don't think the refs would have let them beat patriots.

Tony was the quarterback that I grew up watching and he's certainly the most influential player that made me love football and the Cowboys.
I’m not a cowboys fan. But I have been a massive Romo fan since he came into the league. One of the most underrated QB’s of all time. I’ll forever believe that Jerry wasted one of the greatest of his era. By handcuffing him to Jason “ mediocre” Garrett.

Romo turned out to be one of the best QB’s Dallas has ever had. Despite not getting a SB ring, it would take a whole team to do it. I love the charisma and bravery he had to overcome injuries and bad criticism. He was a warrior and he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame!

i believe the hall of fame is a bit of a stretch for the numbers he put up in my unbiased opinion as i am not a fan of his play nor the cowboys however i will give credit where it is due, in that he did definitely have an outstanding career given the amount of pressure and criticism he received for him to get up off the turf brush the dirt off and run another play as if nothing negative happened prior is admirable a true gun slinger and with that style of play it will bring a lot of interceptions but also a lot of touchdowns and yards gained again ball of fame seems like a stretch in my opinion but one hell of a career where the lights shine the brightest so salute to him for that !

@@jonvisser1509 If Dan Fouts is in the HOF, then Romo at least has an argument. Fouts playoff record was 3-4 and he had some really, really bad games. Fouts career passer rating is 80.2. Romo's is 97.1. I'm not saying he will ever get in but he at least has an argument.

Honestly he probably is. His numbers are excellent! He has one of the highest 4th qtr ratings of all time too. I also believe he is top 10 all time in rating. Atleast he was when he retired!

This is the perfect football story of a man who strived for greatness and came up short. Not all QBs are gonna be Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. There has to be a loser on the other side of winners, no matter how painful that is

The problem for him was he was never protected. When the cowboys finally got him protection in 2014, he had his best season. Dak had been a beneficiary of Tony's insistence with the cowboys that they focus on O line play.

What do you think about the name change?
Romo had some great duels with Washington, 2012 obviously RGIII destroyed Dallas, then in 2013 Romo had that dramatic game winner in the last minute, playing through injury, only to have to miss the season finale which resulted in another 8-8 finish. Then 2014, that brutal loss to Washington at home, with Romo getting injured again. Then his last game against them (though nobody knew at the time), getting a bit of revenge in week 17. Dallas-Washington was really a rivalry back then, y’all always played the Cowboys tough.
I can’t get passed the intro without getting emotional. The cowboys organization failed him. He deserved so much more.

You could say his playoff record says different. Yeah but if the refs get the dez call right then for all we know the superbowl could have been in his grasp. If that changes then it could’ve changed peoples view on him. Go ask all of the people in the league during Romo’s career and they will say he is elite.

I'm not a cowboys fan and never will be but I was very aware that no matter what, Tony Romo was going to be a top ten QB every game, every year he ever played. I think he was actually in the top 6 in yards every single season he played? I could be wrong, but it's something along those lines. He's elite

When you reach like the 6th round, at that point you're probably better off not getting drafted and instead getting to choose where you want to go as an undrafted free agent. So it probably worked out for the best, going to Dallas with Parcells and Sean Payton as the coaches, instead of getting drafted in the 6th round by like the Lions.
I’m proud of Tony Romo, he did all he could coming from humble beginnings and he deserves everything he has now

As a Burlington residence, I can confirm the town thrives a lot from Tony Romo, such a great guy from a great town
Tony made several average teams really good, and made some really bad teams average (8-8). Not very many players can do that. And he did it his whole career. Making average receivers look like All-stars, and great ones like Whiten even better, is what is needed in a quarterback.

Romo may not be the "greatest" quarterback of all time, or even the greatest Dallas quarterback, but he's my favorite. He's a big reason why I'm the die hard Cowboys fan I am today. My dad raised me to be a Dallas fan, but I was too young to remember Aikman's glory days. The period between Aikman and Romo was a disaster to watch. When Romo became the qb, Cowboys games were actually exciting to watch, and, as a young kid, that made me become a much bigger fan.
I still think they should have let him start over Dak when he was healthy.

He carried the franchise for years. Was the only reason to watch them. And I have been a Cowboys fan for 45 years. He should have had been the starter when he came back. I think the experience would have helped the team do even better that year.
Completely agree, although being born in 79 and brought up as a Cowboys fan too I got to see the 90s Dynasty go from 1-15 Jimmy's first year to Super bowl Champs 4 years later and then 2 more Rings in 3 years. It was a great time to be a teenager and especially a Cowboys fan. But there was something different about Romo that made everything seem more fun to watch even though they didn't win Super Bowls. Anyway I'll believe to the day I die if they had given him his job back in 2016 they would have won it all that year. They had everything, just needed a veteran QB that the moment wouldn't be too big for and they had him but fell for the media pressure anyway. Also like you said Dez caught it!!! And that play remains the largest robbery in NFL history to this day.
Thanksgiving 2006. Cowboys vs Bucs. Took my Mom, Step Dad and brother to our first ever NFL Football game at Texas Stadium. Romo threw for 5 TD's. First Cowboy ever to throw the most touchdowns in a Thanksgiving game. We even had Thanksgiving dinner at the club there at Texas Stadium.
So cool to see this. That exact game was my first cowboy game that my father took my brother and I too. I was 10 years old watching Romo throw those TDs. Wish I could rewind the clock to that moment for sure.
From 2006-2014 (years my boy Romo was healthy) he actually had more 4th quarter comebacks than Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Big Ben. He also has a top 10 passer rating of all time. Everyone just jumped on cowboys hate bandwagon and crucified him for everything. I watched his entire career and the man was the only reason we were relevant. He never had a top 10 defense (cant win a championship without a decent defense) and his o-line was absolutely terrible until very late in his career. If you look up Romo scrambling highlights you can easily see that he was running for his life but still made amazing throws and touchdowns to keep Cowboys in the game or to win when they wouldn’t have with 90%+ of QBs. He will always be my favorite player and damn do I miss watching him.

I completely feel that, I have lost so much passion for the team when he retired. He was my favorite player of all time and I miss him every time a new season starts, but at least we get to hear him commentate games so that’s at least the bright side :(

But he threw an INT in the playoff loss to the Giants. This is about winning championships. Doesn't matter how great he was in regular season. That's why Eli was better because he came up big when it counted.
Tony Romo was never the problem. Always kept us in games. Efficient, smart and a leader. First guy and last guy out mentality. Being the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys is the most difficult position in sports. No one is more scrutinized and or polarized. Always handled himself with class.
@Laura Deuce in the 10 years that he started for the cowboys he was 4th in QB rating only behind Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning and drew Brees. From 2006-2015 he led the NFL in 4th quarter comebacks with 23, Peyton Manning was 2nd in that te frame with 21. In that same time frame he had a 4th quarter QB rating of 100 which led the league. QBs throw interceptions. That's a given. To say he was a choke or not clutch goes against numbers and statistics. He was crazy efficient. Granted he fumbled a huge snap in a playoff game and probably had a few bad interceptions here and there but he definitely never was the cause of our problems.

He was a damn good QB who never got the love he deserved. Jerry Jones said it best his biggest regret was not doing what he needed to get him to a SB and it’s also a shame it took Romo going to the booth to see the mind he has for the game. The basic media that shits on the cowboys 24/7 ruined what was an incredible story of an undrafted free agent from a small town and small school to take the entire country by storm in 2006 by leading the biggest sports franchise in the world to the playoffs and along with that, break every single meaningful passing record the franchise had is nothing short of incredible.

I love hearing that his dad was Joe at him by saying it’s going to be tough making it in D1 basketball. Most dads would just “say sure Tony do whatever your heart desires”. You need to be honest with your kids.
I remember, while on my second deployment in IRAQ, in 2007, I watched the game against Buffalo…Romo threw 5 Interceptions and Still Won the Game…unforgettable!! I will be 45 this coming March. I went to my first game at Texas Stadium in 1983 when I was just 4 years old, and I have been a Diehard ever since that day! Tony Romo will Always be my Favorite Cowboys Quarterback of All Time! Every Dallas franchise QB has a cool and unique story. Meredith was the local boy who went large, Staubach had his Naval commitment and the crazy QB dramas that surrounded him, Danny White was the understudy backup QB (and punter) who grew up to be the starter, Troy had his OU/UCLA transfer and second dance with Barry Switzer, and Dak was the afterthought 4th rounder who blew up in his rookie year after taking over for the crippled starter...
...but to be a walk-on undrafted free agent and become a record-setting superstar who holds it down like a boss for a decade while dating pop starlets, all at the highest profile position in all of sports? And then to basically become an elite color commentator at the highest level immediately upon retiring from the game? That's just legendary.

I'm a Patriots fan. When I noticed how I loved Romo calling a game. Is when the Pats vs Chiefs AFC Championship game. He was predicting Brady's plays, and he was right! And Brady cannot be predicted, by anyone on the field. It's a very rare talent to have. Romo is respected, and I'm glad he's calling our NFL games. 🙏 💯🏈
As a Giants fan I respect Romo. You always knew the Cowboys were gonna give you a hand full with him at QB. Even years where the Giants were visibly a superbowl calibur team he gave them a chance on a much less talented roster. Respect.

Like Romo not just because he is the QB, deep inside he is a person just like any one of us, not perfect but always being kind and warm, never giving up and always trying with all he has. He carried the team in that decade when he was given the chance.

I never really gave Romo a chance while he played, but after watching him in the booth it was pretty obvious he's a fantastic guy. Always entertaining to see him in the booth.
Sadly a lot of people didn’t but they don’t understand Romo was a gunslinger like Farve but since he has a ring it switches to that narrative an I’m honestly tired of it if he sucked so bad he wouldn’t have made it to the Pros 🤦🏽♀️
I have been a Giants fan for 36 years, but I really do like Romo, what a great guy....and amazing broadcaster. I was not impressed with him replacing Phil Simms but after hearing him call a game, I knew he had the tools to be great...and he is. The way he can call a play accurately before the ball is even snapped provides great insight and entertainment. The best thing is that he looks like to be an amazing dad. Hats off to Tony Romo...and amazing human being
Couldn’t root for the guy but definitely enjoyed watching him play, he really made some epic comebacks and pretty passes. And a great scrambler as well. Shame he didn’t get a ring.

The most underrated QB in NFL history. I wish he played for a better team, he deserved better. Cowboys have been the exact same team since 1996, all the talent in the world can't overcome a organization that is dysfunctional from the top down. The fact that there is always so much talent makes it even worse because it pumps people up with false hope year after year. We know how pissed off Troy was during the second half of his career, Tony had that franchise his entire career. He sure was fun to watch though, those 8-8 teams were 3-13 teams without him.

One of my favorite QBs. Loved his passion for the game and his competitive drive to wanting to win always. A lot didn’t go his way and you can blame that on the coaching and luck.

What a role model! Life long Cowboys fan here and it takes a lot to make me buy your jersey. This man knows the true value of life, what it means to be a family man free of drama, and what HARD WORK means. He may not have a ring but he will forever be known as a legend in my book. Honestly, Tony was an amazing QB. A player that single handedly increased a team’s wins by 2 or 3 games, and always gave his team’s a punchers chance of winning against ANYONE. Should have won a Super Bowl, and should still have started over Dak.

I was romo’s biggest fan in all of glory and mistakes. I loved this guy. My dad is a cowboys fan and we would argue ALL day about romo and he was so happy dak came along while I was heartbroken. Miss you 9 I think we could’ve achieved great success with you under center Jerry didn’t supply you enough. And I stand by that.
Romo always made the Cowboys feel like America's team. They had such a strong team identity with him and even when they were losing you couldn't help but love em. Thank you Romo for years of fun football to watch and thank you for bringing new life to the broadcast booth.

Prolly one of the most underappreciated qbs in nfl history. I think a lot of people forget how great he really was. He had some massive statistical games. Had injuries that did a number on him but I always hated the choker narrative that he got.
Romo was the reason why I started watching the Cowboys again. I knew right away he was going to be something special.
Tony Romo will always be one of my favorite players ever. I grew up watching him and to me he was the best. Even though throw the ups and down, he was overall a very great QB. He just was sadly never appreciated for it. But all I can say is when people watch this they’ll understand how great he really was. I hope to see him in the HOF one day

I understand where you’re coming from about the No super bowl because that’s a big thing but, he’s not the only one who would make the HOF and not have a super bowl. Ex: Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Antonio Gates, Barry Sanders. Etc. the reason why he’d make it is due to his status. He broke many of the nfl stats, mostly Cowboy related. I think he deserves to make the HOF just like the other players listed, which they all had amazing status, they all just had the same issue as Romo. They either fell short of winning, got cheated, short career due to injury, or played for an organization that didn’t win much.

That’s how I compare the Romo days to the Dak days. When Dak and the boys are having an off game it feels like there is no shot at a W. With Romo on the field it felt like no matter what we were gonna be in a position to win the thing.

Romo always kept his eyes downfield that's what you have to do to be a great qb. He tried to force alot because he had trust in his receivers he didn't care about his stats. He wanted to win that's the difference between him and Dak. Dak has to rely on his stats against awful teams to disguise the fact that he's AWFUL Romo would stand toe.to toe with undefeated teams. Dak can only beat losing teams daks a bum and it's sad that his contract is going to ruin the cowboys for years to come. That bum belongs in the trash Romo for life
My fav Cowboys game of all time was that Broncos game. The team was so much fun to watch with Romo. And now, best announcer since John Madden.

Being a life-long Redskins fan, I could not stand Romo while he was playing. But it always amazes me when I watch something like this and how much my opinion changes about him and other players. Nothing but respect to Tony Romo and his family.
As a lifelong Cowboys fan, Tony Romo is still my favorite player. He elevated some bad rosters into contenders which is a testament to how great he really was. Great player but, even better person based on my interaction with him off the field.

I heard a story about Tony, wearing a nice suit, driving a fancy sports car and stopping to help a woman on a freeway. He changed her tire. A small gesture, but it shows his small town family values. Great parents. It still makes me cry.

As far as interceptions go, Tony Romo career interception rate is 2.7%. Montana - 2.6%. Staubach - 3.7%. Bradshaw was slightly over 5%. Romo is below the NFL career average of HOF QBs when it comes to interception rates.
