My mom was a huge Raiders fan, growing up she made me watch games and wear gear. I hated it and I chose the Packers just to piss her off.
She was so mad I loved it. But I lost my mom recently and now I catch myself watching this, it’s true what Al Davis said once a Raider always a Raider.

From a Bronco fan, Al Davis is one of my favorite NFL people for the stand he took on racial matters. He did everything in his power to make the American Football League succeed and did NOT want a merger. Those Raider teams of the late 60's-70's were the most feared. He took care of his people.

Al Davis copied the Los Angeles Chargers 1960 original shield logo.
Al Davis was part of the Los Angeles Chargers coaching staff 1960 birth season through 1962.
Al Davis then left the Chargers coaching staff in 1962 to become the manager of the Oakland Raiders in 1963.
Al Davis obviously copied the the 1960 L.A.Chargers original shield logo and added it to the Oakland Raiders pirate logo in 1963 because coincidentally the original 1960-1962 Oakland born Raiders pirate team logo didn’t have the shield logo in their original birth year of 1960-1962
until Al Davis joined the Oakland Raiders in 1963 then added the shield logo to the pirate logo.

Even in the bad years you knew his heart and soul and sweat was dedicated to that team as an owner. Things that worked so well from '67-85 no longer did as much after. Bill Walsh changed the game. Marino and Elway were the great gun-slingers that Davis would have done anything to have had, but it was Montana who won rings. Elway didn't get his until a HOF running back showed up. I wondered what would have happened if he had gone to a West Cost offence mindset, and changing the motto to "Taking what we want, 10-15 yards at a time."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's ever been a rivalry like the steelers and raiders of the 70's, even though the steelers came out on top in most of those games, especially the playoffs. The steelers had Bradshaw, Franco Harris, rocky blier, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth. The raiders had ken Stabler, mark van Eagan, Clarence Davis, cliff branch and Fred bilitnekoff.

Still haven't seen the 30-30 on Al Davis this one is pretty good. Al Davis was a true revolutionary and a genius. Hard to watch Davis get wrapped up in bitter feuds, and lose his touch after around 2002 - probably earlier if we're being honest. Age flattens everyone in the end. But he was great and we shouldn't forget it.
