After seeing this episode of A Football Life on Marcus Allen What respect I have for this guy. He should have had 18000 yards. 160 touchdowns. And what a Class Act not to have such animosity towards someone who really killed your career. I have a whole new respect for this guy really was terrific all around athlete and human being.

That was one of the best episodes of A Football Life.. if you ever played the game on an organized level, Marcus summed up in a nutshell, and in one sentence when he said the biggest reason that he was great was because he understood what everybody was doing at any one time on the field, because he had played fullback defensive backfield and quarterback after that if you have the physical skills running back will only come natural to you. The vision that's needed would be automatic. One of the top 20 goats.
I watched his whole career. The thing I remember most is he never seemed to take a hard hit. Smooth speed. Al Davis was a nut job and trading him proved it.
Wow! His last words were “The game is pretty simple if you know what you are doing”. Marcus had every reason to be bitter and vindictive about Al Davis but said life is too short to be bitter and let’s move on. Takes a strong person to do that.
Marcus was the ultimate Raider. It was aweful the way Davis treated him. The Raiders weren’t worthy of him, though the players themselves held him in high regard and admiration.
I remember when Marcus ran in a TD for the Chiefs in LA and there was a banner with Al's portrait and 'Commitment to Excellence' hanging on the wall. Marcus ran over to it and spiked the ball right off of Al's face. I don't blame him one bit because while Al benched him his stats could have become legendary. I was SO excited whenever my Chiefs took Allen-and coupled with Montana it was great with our vaunted defense. I still remember my Dad yelling "GO MARCUS!!!" every time he touched the ball. (Alas, the 'Indian burial ground Arrowhead Stadium was built on' always bit us hard-even harder with poor Marty.) He never showboated-even after a TD he'd simply throw the ball to a referee and quietly go to the sideline always looking up at the clock/scoreboard. So intelligent, articulate, and a class act any parent would want their kids looking up to.

I've been a Oakland Raiders fan since 1979. And AL Davis did foolish things like his vendetta against Marcus. Look at what happen to them after the early 90's. Losing more way more than they were winning. Wasting millions of dollars on mediocre players. Signing a 1st round qb and giving millions because he had a cannon for an arm. But nothing else to show for. He flamed out before he caught fire. Or wasting more money on players that had a history of knee injuries. The list goes on and on. A team that would find ways to win. I've been a Oakland Raiders fan since 1979. And AL Davis did foolish things like his vendetta against Marcus. Look at what happen to them after the early 90's. Losing more way more than they were winning. Wasting millions of dollars on mediocre players. Signing a 1st round qb and giving millions because he had a cannon for an arm. But nothing else to show for. He flamed out before he caught fire. Or wasting more money on players that had a history of knee injuries. The list goes on and on. A team that would find ways to win. For years now it's been finding a way to lose. I hope w/Gruden the Raiders get back to finding ways to win.
Not looking that way so far. Letting Mack walk last year was RETARDED. Theyve now been outscored 75-12 in the last 2 games by the Chiefs and.......the Jets lol. Gruden was a huge mistake
