If you're wondering why so many clips have a comic book filter on them, it's to prevent the NFL from putting a copyright claim on them and removing monetization. Also I kinda like the comic book filter. But anyways we're back!

As a massive fan of Romo, this video was really well done and a fair and balanced take on Romo and his Cowboys teams. For many of his seasons he was arguably the only reason the team even had a chance to be 8-8. And he got blamed for their lack of success and overall failure. Romo was always a good enough QB to win a Super Bowl but he never had the best team around him to get it done.

Dude was the greatest QB that got LITERALLY NO HELP until he was already injured and worn out. We got our line sporadically as he played but for his first 3 full starting seasons he had Andre Gurode (prolly misspelled that) and like nobody else. We had years where we could have built up our line faster but Jerry went with the "we draft our players" approach and by the time Frederick, Martin and Smith were in Romo had already broken his back once. He had NO room for rookie errors or learning curves with his OL, they expected that with TO and Witten he should be able to make a deep playoff run but we all know it takes way more than 2 offensive threats to spur a winning season. I watched Romo extend 100s of plays for positive yardage, had horrible recievers other than the obvious (TO, Bryant, and even Cole Beasley) He had guys that no sleight to them were literal nobody's by the time they got here. Patrick Crayton had some great plays but also some blown plays that really hurt us. All in all, Tony gave us everything he had every single season. Yes, there were interceptions and losses that were hard to watch/bear but those games where he made me go "WTF DID HE JUST DO" were amazing, and why Tony will always be my 2nd favorite Cowboys QB all time!! #DemBoyz

Loved Tony Romo. Never did i believe the Cowboys were out of a game during his career, bar a few blow outs.
Even my best friend long suffering as well only far worse than me being a Washington fan loved watching the Cowboys during this era, and every time the Cowboys were on any of that weeks 5 live games we get in the UK, regardless of Redskins being involved or playing same Sunday night I could see he was actually rooting for romo and the Cowboys, something ive found myself doing for Washington more out of pity and my friends depression at there never ending QB issues.
If you hold all the Cowboys franchise records you are certainly one of the best. The lack of a ring will cost him any HOF contention when many far lesser QBs will have that Gold jacket.

It’s easy to think of his cowboys as a “failure” because that team and your Steelers have a long history of winning titles. Combine that with Dallas marketing its team more than any in the nfl and many people forget Romo, an undrafted QB, had more success than most first round QBs ever had.
Idk for certain if he had the exact same results with a team like the Steelers and 49ers as he did with the Cowboys if his career would have a better reception, but I like to think the media would’ve been kinder to him.

I always hated the people that criticize any QB for an INT on the last play of the game or on 4th down and long. At that point in a game there is no decision to be made, the ball has to go to the 1st down marker or the endzone and what happens happens. There’s no telling how far the cowboys would have went if Parcells did not leave. Parcells had what was the beginning of a possible dynasty building. Then Jerry had to be Jerry and push him into retirement. All so he could hire yes man wade phillips. I honestly think he did this once he figured Parcells had enough pieces in place. So that way if they won the Super Bowl, he could take the credit. He never did like Jimmy Johnson getting the credit for building a team and winning. So he let Bill do the building, and thought bumbling wade could just come in and win based on the team’s talent. Remember what Jerry said about Jimmy Johnson’s cowboys “there are 500 coaches that could win the Super Bowl with this team.” Boy was he wrong then. And wrong again with wade. Phillips (who btw was a great defensive coordinator) was a disaster as head coach. The cowboys had a 13 and 3 record despite Wade Phillips and co. Thanks Jerry for blowing what could have been a Super Bowl winning team. All to stroke his own ego

Tony Romo had offensive battles with some of the greatest QB of their time with Super Bowl wins on their belt. Quite frankly, the defense created situations Tony Romo had to put everything on the line. Since 2016 I’ve know about Romo having the most amount of games won off a 4th Q comeback. The o-line didn’t really finish being drafted til what 2012/2013. Truly whenever Zack Martin was drafted. I could get a sack on the defense in 2010 and I was a child.

I will say this as someone who doesn't like the Cowboys and found them very dislikeable during the Romo era, it was hard to ever "hate" Romo like the media/NFL fan base always seemed to want me (let us forever be blessed that the internet wasn't as big as it is today in regards to his relationship with Jessica Simpson). I am a Seattle fan and have seen questionable decisions lose games (Hasselbeck vs the Packers in OT and of course, Russell Wilson in his second SB) in the postseason and feel that he got an unreasonable amount of hate following him being tackled. If he scores in the playoffs instead of getting tackled, we perceive him very differently today. The reality in my mind is, having your starting QB be your placeholder for your kicker is a silly decision. Even if he holds it perfectly, the risk of your starting QB getting smashed on routine play, and dooming your next round of playoffs is just stupid. But maybe that's only my perspective.
He was arguably a better QB then Aikman had any right to claim, or at least appeared more heroic with his gunslinger never say die style. But for his career to be potentially forgotten alongside another good QB in franchise history in Danny White for what he couldn't do is tragic to me. Especially because one could argue Romo never really had the team to make the leap. And to me, looking back on the Dallas teams since their last SB, I find that more an unending indictment on the organization itself as those triumphant banner years fade further into obscurity. To me, as a man who had family members in the NFL who never achieved greatness or even longevity, to be a undrafted player and become the face of the Dallas Cowboys for many years was an incredible feat that should never be forgotten.

If Tony Romo’s career could be summarized in one game: Dallas vs Denver 2013.
Romo led the Cowboys to 48 points and still got blamed for the loss when the defense got torched for 51 points.
He wouldn’t even have to be in a situation to throw a last minute interception if the defense would’ve been at least mediocre that day. Horrendous defense and coaching always bit the Romo Cowboys in the butt during his best years. IMO those Garrett coached teams would’ve been 4-5 wining teams every year without Romo. The 2017 season proved it.

Romo was the best player on The Cowboys every year he played.... I'm not sure if you really know Romo or watched him, but if not, go look up his stats and go watch some highlights and tell me if you still think it was his fault or not. As a rational Cowboys fan (one who doesn't believe every year is our year), I find this to be a very fair breakdown of Romo's career.
Pointing out he was tied with Brees for the INT lead was a nice touch, showing a fairness that Tony wasn't the only one....
Tony gets a bad wrap.... yeah, a better QB between 2010 and 2015 might have produced slightly better results, possibly that elusive Lombardi. But who? The guys we all agree would be definite upgrades weren't exactly "getable". Couldn't just "go get" Brady, Brees, Manning, Rodgers or Ben. The other option is get to the top of the draft and get one, but that's always a crapshoot too....luckily someone was able to keep Jerry away from the phone on draft day when Johnny Football was sitting on the board

While I think the music is a great choice considering the retro-gaming like edits and presentation there a times where the audio is a unenjoyable experience. I can’t tell if the issue is volume or song selection. Likely a combination of both.

Having grown up with the Cowboys of that era, I think too much blame gets placed on Romo (and even Jones) when most of the actual building insiders noted that the both coaches and scouts whiffed on a lot of selections between the Switzer and Garret eras. A team is only as good as the sum of its parts, and the salary cap probably did more to undermine the franchise than even Jimmy Johnson's resignation. Add in dramatic, brand focused athletes, and the media focus, and you would think the Cowboys have been dumpster dwelling morons with the worst ownership group in the league, even if the stats and wins say otherwise when the QB isn't injured. The thing I find most annoying is Jones's close relationship with too many players past their prime, as most of the drafting has been done by the staff, often at odds with Jones's thoughts for splash and PR.

Romo gave his body behind garbage cans for lineman and by the time Jerry got him a line it was too late. I truly believe he would’ve gotten that ring in 2014 or with our 2021-2024 teams. The people that talk badly about him obviously don’t know football and most likely never played organized sports. And the sad part is that Dak has had to deal with similar defensive struggles and now our Line is sub par so I guess Jerry never learns

I'll bring up an example to prove your point. Gerald Sensabaugh. Terrible run defender, outstanding pass defender/assist at times at SS. You'd have him during a matchup with the Calvin Johnson led Detroit Lions and effectively curtailed the future HOF. The second Gerald gets hurt, the flood gates open and Calvin was unstoppable the rest of the game. That's how on the edge your defense was between performing adequately matchup-matchup and performing poorly, a safety who was never considered a pro bowler getting hurt, during the Romo era.

To me there is a massive difference between Dak and Romo.
Honestly i wish the teams Dak had belonged to Romo. Dak is a good QB but Romo's football IQ was insane, after 2011 Romo got into more adjustments, more reads, calling his plays. Its why Dallas had Scott Linehan, because the offense was ran by Romo.
I critisize Dak not because he is bad, but because his reads always felt weak agaimst a good defense, like Dak trusted the play call too much. Dak's adjustment of the OL was always good, but his reads when passing was always to be desired.
Romo is my fav QB and i do compare Dak to Romo especially now hes asking for 60+ million a year. But Romo just carried a bad team while Dak just doesnt step up against the best teams, his playoff wins are the Seahawks and the 8-9 Bucs. Its infuriating to see how Dak in 2021 and 2022 have his defense give him opportunities and fall short. The only game you can really blame Romo for choking was 2006. 2007, 2009, 2014 all seasons where Romo put his best and the team fell short, especially 2007 with the OL was bad, the WR core dropping easy passes, and Patrick Crayton giving up on a deep route.
