I think people forget that Tony Romo was an undrafted quarterback who was a third-stringer for early on in his career. He wasn’t drafted (at all) to be the Cowboys franchise savior. Yet, despite his bad moments he carved out a very nice career for 8 years. He’s the Cowboys all time leader in passing yards and touchdowns. Sounds like a good career to me.
@@pwx13 I never said he was a HOFamer. I’m just pointing that from his undrafted position, just making a roster is a success. Everything else he’s done is a bonus to that.
@@AEMT-ks4so Yes, only 8 years. But, every single one of them, he had a top 10 passer rating and the best one in 2014 when he was cheated out of the MVP.
Romo is a victim of the nfl media being morons who can't analyze any other stat than wins and losses, and NFL fans being morons who can't analyze any other stat than wins and losses
Yes you can rate him, but if you think an undrafted player is overrated because he didn’t win a super bowl, then every player who was drafted or started and never won a super bowl should be considered overrated. Dan Marino, randy moss, Barry sanders...
Unlucky and hated for no reason. No help for years, played through injury after injury and numerous heart breaking losses. Dude was that entire franchise for years and he will always live on as my favorite all time player.
As a Cowboys fan I loved Romo that 2014 team was my favorite Cowboys team. I was a huge Demarco Murray fan and loved watching those 2 and Dez ball out all year. Love getting to turn on a Dallas game on CBS and hearing Romo and Nantz
@@cheez__it___7015 dak isn't hated. Its just cowboys fans are tired of his high school level passes and the media acting like he's won 10 super bowls. As for Romo he was hated because the media said to hate him, and made up a false narrative about him. Plus the nfl as a whole hated him, they never protected him, and he would get head jolting hits after passing the ball constantly, and no calls.
I think he's far from overrated. The guy was able to stand out in a league that featured Drew Breese, Aaron Rodgers Peyton Manning, Big Ben, Phillip Rivers, and Tom Brady, all in their prime
@@g.williams2047 Eli is highly overrated. He was barely an average QB that was gifted 2 SB MVPs because the defense shut down many high scoring offenses, many that destroyed the Giants in the regular season to double digit wins. Even in most of those games that his fans call him great, he was still just, "Meh.." He literally never won against a playoff team that scored more than 20 points and his career averages are worst that Jay Cutler, Marc Bulger, Ryan Tannehill, Daunte Culpepper,, Carson Palmer, Jameis Winston, Trent Green, Rich Gannon, and Sam Bradford. You know, a bunch of guys that no one would ever put on the HoF. And Eli was worst than all of them. He was just lucky. Plain and simple.
@@tomknapp6194 He has more rings than Aaron Rodgers. The same amount of rings as Big Ben, Peyton, John Always. He is one of the only 2 people to beat Brady in a Superbowl bowl. End of the day, Superbowls are the most important stat in football. Still insane that he was able to actually win 2 rings 🤣.
So hypothetically, if Romo playing in, say maybe, New England could he have had a better career? Cause he had the explosiveness people want into a QB, and obviously had the skill. Of course you would have to take into account that his gunslinger style of play led to interceptions, but even then as you pointed out, there were plenty of games that just didn’t swing his way. Also, I didn’t realize it was only 8 years. It felt like forever with him. Miss him though. As TO said “That’s my quarterback.”
@@standyourground9973 he didn’t really get a HOF online until late in his career and Romo never had a HOF rusher demarco Murray was good but he ain’t HOF but I get your point
@@MonsieurTonyy yeah I thought he would have had a longer carrer in dallas but after he left he was never the same. Maybe shinned a little in a couple of games the following season but once the trio broke apart the team felt entirely different .
Fun fact about that comparison, the same guy who went 11-5 when Brady went down in 2008 went 1-6 with the cowboys in 2015 with basically the same roster Romo had the year before.
I would like to point out that the interception late in the denver shootout game, one of his linemen got pushed back in the pocket and stepped on his foot while he was throwing the ball. That interception being put on him has always bothered me.
@@tomknapp6194 fr. I was born in 08 so obviously I couldn’t watch the first years of romo live but from what I’ve seen he didn’t look bad. just seems like the cowboys were bad and the blame always fell on him
Having grown up a Cowboys fan I spent my childhood defending Romo who people insisted sucked but actually was a good player on a bad team or unlucky team
On the second last play of the 2007 game vs the giants Romo threw a wide open touchdown to a dude alone in the corner and he dropped it, Blown coverage left the guy alone and it would have won the cowboys the game
Plus another td drooped by Crayton. Plus a clinching first down dropped by Crayton. Plus a clinching first down on third down dropped by Witten. Plus a 50 yard bomb dropped by Terrell Owen's.
Romo actually had 3 drive to put it in for a win. That team of all stars fell apart. Penalties, dropped passes, pressure on Romo. A lot of mistakes were made. But, only Romo gets blamed.
Romo and Witten’s careers were robbed by their defense. The going in argument was a good offense is the best defense, and that doesn’t work in the NFL. I have always had this nagging feeling that if Parcells doesn’t get run-off by Jerry, then Romo and Witten get a Super Bowl. But as is the story with the ‘boys, Jerry is Jerry’s own worst enemy.
I don’t think Barry mentioned this but people forget. In 2012. The cowboys in the 2nd half at one point were either tied or losing in every single game. Also in every game at one point they were losing.
Likewise… remember when romo took over? Was so electric and exciting for years afterwards.. haven’t been that excited about a Dallas cowboys player since or for years before romo for that matter
@@sarath2706 He is. The only thing is that Dak is pretty good when he has support. Take away Zeke or one of the WR and his ability takes a serious hit. But, it is working for the moment. Let's hope it holds out.
If you didn’t watch every cowboy game during this span and know the roster, you have no idea how good Tony Romo really was. He had so much bad luck and a lot of those interceptions were him trying to make something happen that just wasn’t there. It was always 50/50 for him.
The Cowboys going into Seattle in 2014 for an NFC championship would’ve been a spectacle. A 2nd chance for Romo exercise his demons where the choker narrative began. That 2014 team is still my favorite Cowboys team. Watching the Packers collapse was a pretty great though.
The really unlucky thing is, they were 12-4 in 2014, same as the #1 seed Seattle, and actually BEAT them on the road in the regular season. But because there was a three way tie, the head to head result didn't count and they didn't even get a bye.
This guy knows football. As a color guy, he calls the plays before they are called on the field . He’s worth every penny. I always thought the Cowboys would be a perennial playoff team with Romo as coach and Aikman as GM. They are both that knowledgeable on football.
He dropped a lot of passes. Drew Pearson and Michael Irvin were the better receivers wearing number 88. No denying he was talented. Just wasn't clutch.
@@someperson8151 He did. Two important game winners in his grasp and didn't pull through. One time, the NFL did admit that they were wrong, but the other time when had one finger out of bounds on a game winning catch (vs Giants) is all on him. I'm sure that there were others.
Having the greatest coach in the history of football and having Randy Moss and Gronk and Wes Welker, and 15 top ten defenses probably contributed to his success I’d say, he also ran to a stacked roster because he was scared of getting owned by Mahomes in the AFC
For context there was 4:30 left after Dez, “dropped the ball” so even if the Cowboys score the Packers would’ve had plenty of time to answer. Also the Packers were able to get inside the Cowboys 30 following the change of possession before they even hit the two minute warning. It’s very likely Green Bay still wins the game. Still shouldn’t be blamed on Romo though as he played pretty well. Dallas didn’t have a good defense that year and that was their Achilles heel
Thank you for making these Tony Romo was one of my favorite QB's to watch on Sundays better then most people remember and had some really bad luck and so missed opportunities
Ik it might be painful but I'd like to see this style of analysis with McNabb and Reid going to five championships and losing to the Bratriots in the Super Bowl. Goddamn I love this channel, btw. Good, good shit, my man.
I’ve loved seeing these year over year career breakdowns of these Quarterbacks. It would be cool to see you do similar breakdowns on NBA super stars, and how there success and failure created their media narratives.
@@brandoness3542 paycuts dont make brady the goat, having top 10 defenses in all his carreer is more because belicheck scheme and not the paycuts, that's a MYTH
Here's the biggest part. This guy says, "...mishaps on Romo's fault..." If you followed Romo's career, you would know that 3 of those 4 playoff losses were absolutely winnable when SOMEONE ELSE screwed up. This cannot be understated.
My boy Romo is the anti Brady. He's disregarded in most conversations and the football gods hated him. I can't help but to feel sad every time I think of his lack of titles. Unfortunately I got into football late is his QB career, but listening to him breaking some plays down makes my Sundays.
LOVED Tony Romo. And the 2011, 2012, 2013 seasons (where they missed the playoffs by one win in every one) almost made me want to quit watching football. I was actually at that 2013 regular season game where they ended up losing to the Packers by 1pt. It was so depressing shuffling out of there in a stupor, I have refused to attend a Cowboys game live again. Having said all that, the feeling I got when the Dez catch was reversed made me want to get in my car and "Thelma & Louise" myself off the nearest cliff.
washington fan here. hate the cowboys. but i remember that last time he got injured and i felt so sorry for him. year in and year out he was solid and consistent and i just remember thinking “boy i hope he retires i hate seeing him get beat up like this” great vid.
Not sure he's a for sure HOFer but I can see him getting in later with that veteran selection. It's just he doesn't have the success alot of QBs in the Hall have.

'Boys fans don't bother with a reply - I'll ignore it,
Great video. Somewhat painful reminder of all the Ls my favorite team took during the Romo years - that 37-36 Packers loss was the most frustrating game I ever watched - but definitely a satisfying summary of Romo’s career. I always hated braindead Cowboys fans who didn’t realize the team would be way worse off if “Tony Homo” wasn’t there.

I can sum Romo's career up very easily. I'm going to compare 2 QBs, but only reveal their identities until after the stats. QB A: 7 Games 29 points/game 182 Completions 283 Attempts 64% completion 7.69 yards/attempt 19 TDs 6.7 TDs/100 attempts 4 interceptions 104.22 passer rating QB B: 8 Games (+1) 22.25 points/game (-6.75) 178 completions (-4) 282 attempts (-1) 63.12% completion (-.88) 7.35 yards/attempt (-.64) 15 TDs (-4) 5.3 TDs/100 attempts (-1.4) 2 interceptions (-2) 100.9 passer rating (-3.3) Looking at these 2 QBs, it seems they are pretty close to the same. But, I think the edge has to be given to QB A. More TDs in 1 less games, better completion percentage, more yards per attempt. QB A is Romo in his 7 losses from 2013 and QB B is Eli Manning from his 2 SB runs. Let's look at some other very important stats: QB A (Romo): 0-7 Average points given up by defense: 37 Opponents held to 20 or fewer points: 1 Opponents scoring 30+: 6 (OUT OF 7?!?!?!?) Opposing QB passer rating: 117 Games LOST by 4 or less points: 5 QB B (Eli): 8-0 Average points given up by defense: 16 (-21) Opponents held to 20 or fewer points: 8 (+7) Opponents scoring 30+: ZERO (-6) Opposing QB passer rating: 74 Games WON by 4 or less points: 5 Here is where things don't make sense. Romo was criticized for not doing enough and Eli was called a playoff genius. When the real difference between the two was how their own defense performed. Despite giving up an average of 37 points and an opposing passer rating of 117 (and 2 games in which they forced ZERO punts), Romo still almost won 5 of those 7 games. Meanwhile, Eli's defense gave up a mere 16 point and an opposing passer rating of 74 barely won 5 of 8 games. Another thing is that Romo's stats above were barely above average. Eli's stats are among the best of his 16 year career and not remotely close to being typical. Romo is the very definition of a HoF player and Eli was a below average QB that was carried through both playoffs. Eli should never be in the HoF.
Out of all the premier quarterbacks from Tony's era (Drew Breese, Aaron Rodgers Peyton Manning, Big Ben, Phillip Rivers, and Tom Brady), he unquestionably had the worst roster and coach around him, but was still no debate better than at least two of those guys, I would argue 3 of them. Do not forget that when Romo started playing, the Cowboys were one of the worst 5 teams in the league and had been for at least 7 or 8 seasons. Even after that, the defense NEVER improved beyond barely mediocre, the coaching only got worse and worse, and his very best two best WRs his entire career were a washed up diva and a notorious pass dropper. Also do not forget that Romo was basically forced to play so risky because he was in almost every game having to come from behind to win because of his pathetic defense and general coaching strategies. If Romo doesn't get drafted into a completely dysfunctional, in tatters franchise with a completely broken front office, he goes down as a top 5 quarterback ever and is a no question hall of famer.
@@crashstitches79this absolutely must have played a crucial role. The guy spent his most formative years as a player with the threat of getting cut hanging over his head. Who knows what could have happened if they had invested more coaching into developing him as a starter
This guy was on the same level as other HoF QBs when he played, it’s just unfortunate that he played for an organization that couldn’t handle true skill and talent.
Tony Romo was about the 5th best QB in 'Boys history behind (in order): Staubach, Aikman, White, and Morton. He had 60 Pro Bowlers, 12 All-Pros, 2 HOFers (Owens, Ware), and a future HOFer (Witten) playing behind him in just 10 years. Yet, he has just 2 PO wins b/c he either choked away the season or was injured. IOW, it wasn't the team around him - it was Romo. Stop your hero worship Dallas fans - he wasn't that good. Replies from Dallas will be ignored - I will not get into a debate with you over delusional arguments.
Why don't you make the comparison of Tony Romo vs Troy Aikman post-1995? Romo won more games, in both the regular season and the post-season, despite Aikman having a far better defense most years. (Romo's offense was better, but hey, isn't QB play an integral part of an offense's performance?) Once Aikman was no longer surrounded by godlike talent at nearly every position, he won less regular season games than Romo and never won a postseason game. In fact, by my key criteria of evaluating QB greatness, which is this---when your defense is being shredded, and your running game is being stuffed, you somehow win a game you don't deserve to win because of your QB play---Aikman fails miserably. I can't think of a single time where Aikman won a game like that. Aikman was the ultimate "game manager" QB, he performed flawlessly when all cylinders on the Dallas machine were working, but when they failed, he would join them in the failure. He never overcame a bad performance by the whole team. By contrast, the great QBs---Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Marino, Montana, Elway, Staubach, and more--did just that. They won games for their team their team didn't deserve to win. So did Romo. Some QBs (Marino and Elway) doing that was almost a summation of their career (until Elway got a running game in the late 90s). So in my book, Romo is the #2 QB of all time on Dallas's QB list behind Staubach, with maybe Danny White and Dak Prescott ahead of Aikman.
Patrick Clayton blew that playoff game. Watch him stop on the route on 3rd down. Woulda been an easy td still don’t know why he stopped on his route it was a perfect throw
If Jerry Jones and the cowboys invested in drafting a legit o line earlier in Romo’s career and not signing long term deals to older lineman like Flozell Adams, Leonard Davis, and Andre Gurode. Romo very well could not only be playing still, but have a super bowl or two on his resume. The cowboys instead invested in dumb high draft picks like Felix Jones, trading away multiple high draft picks for Roy E Williams, Bobby Carpenter, etc. Romo’s prime years as a QB 30-35 were waisted on rebuild years. As you alluded to, if it weren’t for Romo the cowboys would’ve been a lock for 4-12, 3-13. People talk about how loaded the 14’ and 15’ teams were. Look how bad they were without Romo. I can go on and on. Great video
There were numerous seasons where he had next to nothing around him, which led to plenty of implosions. As for the choking, he did have some infamous blunders like the Steelers game in 2008, the Lions game in 2011, and the Packers game in 2013. But I think sometimes his lack of a reliable coaching staff made him look worse than he actually was. I heard once Romo couldn't run audibles in Wade Phillips' offense. That and a bad OL will cook up a disaster, which it did.
I read "next to nothing" as highlights of 3 or 4 TO touchdowns were shown. Cowboys were great at getting flash but not the glue but needed to win...you know, the guys who carried the Patriots all those years
Here's all you need to know about #9- In the 4 years that he made the POs (and the years he was a PB selection), he had 33 Pro Bowlers and 9 All-Pros playing behind him. This included '06, when he finished his final 6 games with 6 TDs to 10 TOs. IOW, when he wasn't on loaded teams, he couldn't do anything (not to mention all the chokes in the POs). He has now been eligible for the HOF for 3 years and has yet to make it to the semi-finals. I guess the committee knows an injury-prone loser when they see one. 'Boys fans, I'll ignore all replies. I don't debate delusional hero-worshipping fanboys.

@@skycrimestv7165 Oh, so you think Romo was the problem? He had the 3rd worst defence in 2013 and STILL led the Cowboys to 8-7 and almost a playoff birth. How do you explain this?
Dude Romo had so many back injuries because he was fucking CARRYING that franchise for a decade. The cowboys would’ve had as many wins as the Browns if not for Romo. All those 8-8 seasons would’ve been 4-12 seasons easily. They just refused to help him out on defense, special teams, or the o-line. And the one lone year they did all help him out in 2014 the football gods changed the football world forever and took another playoff win away from him. He isn’t a top 10 QB all time or anything but he was 100000% more unlucky than overrated. I’ve never seen such bad luck for any other high profile QB in the league in the past 15 years.

These vids are rly well done. You should do one on the washington r words (football team) over the past 20 years with dan snyder. keep it up mccockiner
You are missing so much about that 2007 divisional game, that game is really Romos career in a nutshell. Go on a brilliant 10 minute drive in the 2nd to basically end the half and the defense gives up a touchdown in the last minute of the half to tie it up. Crayton drops that pass you showed which would’ve been a huge gain and possible a touchdown. In 4th quarter these things happened; TO alligator arms a deep ball which would’ve been at least a 40 yard gain. Both that and craytons drop would’ve been at least a field goal which would’ve made it 21-20 at worst. Then we get bad romo who takes a bad intentional grounding with 4 minutes left which ends a drive. He gets the ball back to end the game where you show the desperation heave to Glenn to end the game on 4th down but watch the 3rd down play; crayton is running down the sideline where romo throws a game winning dime but crayton slows down assuming he won’t get the ball. What a weird game and really sums up his career where romo takes turns with his teammates failing. One stat that make me say romo is underrated; Tony romo has the highest 4th quarter qbr in history at 100. He can’t be a choker and have that high of a rating in the 4th. Every quarterback has terrible moments in crunch time but his are magnified because he never won a title.
What gets me is that people use the fumbled snap to judge how good a QUARTERBACK he was (yes, he screwed up, but why is the starting quarterback holding for a field goal?) and the interception against the Giants which was treated like a choke moment when it was more of a desperation pass. To me his worst moment was actually 2012, I get his team wasn't that great, but that was such a god awful interception that it was a very hard offseason for Romo defenders like myself.
@@lukerbom12 He wasn't perfect, but let's be realistic. He only had 10 games with a worse passer rating in a 10 year career. At some point every QB fails.
Thanks Barry for blocking the old name of the WFT at 5:54, my 2 year old daughter was watching and I was worried she might have to see such a terrible example of systemic racism
At a point, performance wise, I always believed Romo and Rivers were twins separated from draft. Both put up numbers, both great years and many subpar and underperforming years, having the talent but never capitalizing off of it, and finding ways to lose games.
Patrick Crayton* Exact revenge* (not “extract” revenge) Regardless, this was as fair, impartial, and informed an evaluation and summary of my guy’s career, season-by-season, as I’ve ever seen. Well done.
romo was so good. his last season hurts me the most. if he is playing instead of dak, i really believe the cowboys could have made a superbowl run because that team was extremely strong. ill always love romo and and so happy for him and his family in the future they have secured for themselves!
Romo was a great QB , yeah he had some bad picks but he also had a lot of come from behind wins , he was not a choker just unlucky , he carried some bad teams that had no business winning 8 games , he's much better than Dak! if we had Romo this year we're Superbowl champs period !! Same with 2018 and 2016
Best cowboys qb of all time and it’s not really close. He has the franchise record in yards, tds and passer rating. Yet he will never be a hall of famer. It goes to show how much the postseason matters to people. Troy Aikman is a game manager that threw for over 20 touchdowns once in his career but because his team won 3 Super Bowls, he’s in the hall of fame.
I would respectively disagree. I do consider Troy Aikman a better QB than Romo even though I don't consider Aikman the best either. That belongs to Roger Staubach aka Captain Comeback who was known for coming up big in big games. His numbers are not eye-popping because he played in a run friendly and defensive era. Aikman on the other hand is overlooked compared to the QB's like Favre, Elway, Marino, Kelly, & Young is because of Jimmy Johnson's offense being run first with Emmitt even though he considered the most accurate QB and Michael Irvin having several 1000 yard seasons with Aikman as his QB.

This is NOT what a HOF resume looks like (Romo chokes): 2006 - In his "Pro Bowl" year he had 12 turnovers to just 6 TDs in 6 of his final 7 games (the exception was his 5 TD game against NFL bottom feeder TB). including a 3 TO gm in the finale against Det with PO seeding on the line. Then before he fumbled away that PO game in Seattle, he completed just 4 of his 1st 12 passes with the only points until the end of the first half coming from a defensive TO and a rare 50 yd FG from Gramatica. 2007 in his final 3 games (with home-field adv on the line) 1 TD 5 INTs and just a 51% completion rate. 2007 PO loss to NYG - completes just 50% of his passes and throws a game-ending Int. 2008 finale with a PO spot on the line - a 0 TD 3 TO game in a 44-6 blowout loss to the Eagles. 2010 PO - a 0 TD 3 TO game in a 34-3 blowout loss to the Vikings. 2011 week 4 - throws 3 interceptions (2 pick-6s) leading to the largest collapse in Boys' history. 2011 finale - a 2 TO loss to the NYG with a PO spot on the line. 2012 finale loss to Wash (again with a PO spot on the line) - 2 TDs to 3 TOs. 2013- week 15 loss to Green Bay has 2 ints in the final 2:58 leading to the 2nd largest collapse in Boys' history. 2013 season finale for a PO spot - he's MIA b/c, as usual, he was injured. The only 2 playoff "wins" Romo had were when his D allowed just 14 points to the Eagles (while Dallas rushed for nearly 200 yds.) and when the D created three 2nd half TOs against the Lions. Romo had a ranking of 103 on Five Thirty Eight's list of the most clutch PO QBs of All Time (Eli Manning was 1st). Also, Romo was not on Pro Football Reference's list of the Top 25 QBs of All Time (Eli Manning is). So, to sum up: Romo - a perennially injured, epic choke artist; Eli a clutch ironman and HOFer. The only way Romo is getting the HOF is if he buys a ticket. Dallas homers - I will ignore all replies (for those of you with limited IQs and reading comprehension skills, that means I will not read your response - you're wasting your time and you'll be blocked).
Tony vs Eli, that debate was never supposed to happen. Eli was a first overall pick who had the benefit of refusing to play for the team that drafted him and going where he wanted to go, the heir to the golden boy Peyton. Tony Romo started as a nobody, not even drafted, but he forged his own greatness. The fact we have so many what if’s about his career can make it easy to lose sight of how amazing it is in its own right. Most UDFAs are no-names who become little more than camp bodies. The reasonable best case scenario is maybe they become a surprise contributor. You never expect, or even dare to hope, for the kind of numbers Romo put up. If they’d finished off one of those two big runs (2007, 2014) in the super bowl, Romo has a case for canton. If they’d finished them both off, heck, that’s basically Eli’s career, but with much better stats. And a lot of people think Eli is going into the Hall just off of the two Super Bowl runs. It could’ve been Romo. But the fact that he probably will never make the hall of fame doesn’t take away that he’s one of the greatest stories in NFL history. From UDFA to being among the best of the best. With better team management, could’ve been a world champion too.
elis one of the best 4q qbs ever, doesn't choke, and didn't have much help. the giants d was average in 07 and terrible in 12, but the team was coached well in the playoffs. eli got hammered in 07 but pulled through he's an easy hof based on his play, toughness, and success. he's a definite hof because he won the second most important game in NFL history. on a worse team eli got it done, hof
The loss to the 2007 Giants shouldn't be too bad of a hit against Romo. That Giants team made Tom Bradly look bad and had him running around for his life in the Super Bowl.
Spot on Barry! Great video, but even as I was watching the game and saw the ball pop out in Dez's arm I said it wasn't a catch, and to this day, going by the letter of the law which was a big thing that year too and I think the one before it with a Calvin Johnson catch being taken back, it isn't a catch.

So hypothetically, if Romo playing in, say maybe, New England could he have had a better career? Cause he had the explosiveness people want into a QB, and obviously had the skill. Having grown up a Cowboys fan I spent my childhood defending Romo who people insisted sucked but actually was a good player on a bad team or unlucky team
2011 when he rallied on the road against SF with a punctured lung. Legendary toughness moment.
On the second last play of the 2007 game vs the giants Romo threw a wide open touchdown to a dude alone in the corner and he dropped it,
Blown coverage left the guy alone and it would have won the cowboys the game

I can sum Romo's career up very easily. I'm going to compare 2 QBs, but only reveal their identities until after the stats.
QB A:
7 Games
29 points/game
182 Completions
283 Attempts
64% completion
7.69 yards/attempt
19 TDs
6.7 TDs/100 attempts
4 interceptions
104.22 passer rating
QB B:
8 Games (+1)
22.25 points/game (-6.75)
178 completions (-4)
282 attempts (-1)
63.12% completion (-.88)
7.35 yards/attempt (-.64)
15 TDs (-4)
5.3 TDs/100 attempts (-1.4)
2 interceptions (-2)
100.9 passer rating (-3.3)
Looking at these 2 QBs, it seems they are pretty close to the same. But, I think the edge has to be given to QB A. More TDs in 1 less games, better completion percentage, more yards per attempt. QB A is Romo in his 7 losses from 2013 and QB B is Eli Manning from his 2 SB runs. Let's look at some other very important stats:
QB A (Romo):
0-7
Average points given up by defense: 37
Opponents held to 20 or fewer points: 1
Opponents scoring 30+: 6 (OUT OF 7?!?!?!?)
Opposing QB passer rating: 117
Games LOST by 4 or less points: 5
QB B (Eli):
8-0
Average points given up by defense: 16 (-21)
Opponents held to 20 or fewer points: 8 (+7)
Opponents scoring 30+: ZERO (-6)
Opposing QB passer rating: 74
Games WON by 4 or less points: 5
Here is where things don't make sense.
He’s literally the most underrated qb ever...dude never had a defense or coaching
Yet he calls Josh Allen "Mr January" yet he can't even get past Burrow xD
I still argue that Matt Stafford had the biggest gap between his talent and his roster. As such, no one really talked about him much as an elite QB

The last sentence of the video earned it a place in the hall of fame.
The elevator R&B background music is killing me bro but overall you are funny as hell. Keep up the good work.

I've watched the Cowboys since Meredith. Romo was the best.

You should rank every starting QB going into the this season
the anti aikman: a good qb who was underrated, no superbowls, never had a great defence to carry him, good commentator
What gets me is that people use the fumbled snap to judge how good a QUARTERBACK he was (yes, he screwed up, but why is the starting quarterback holding for a field goal?)
and the interception against the Giants which was treated like a choke moment when it was more of a desperation pass.
To me his worst moment was actually 2012, I get his team wasn't that great, but that was such a god awful interception that it was a very hard offseason for Romo defenders like myself.
Which game in 2012?
@@tomknapp6194 Week 17 vs. Washington, the one that ended their season. shown at 15:38
@@lukerbom12 He wasn't perfect, but let's be realistic. He only had 10 games with a worse passer rating in a 10 year career. At some point every QB fails.
15:27 this man's comedic skills are unmatched
Thanks Barry for blocking the old name of the WFT at 5:54, my 2 year old daughter was watching and I was worried she might have to see such a terrible example of systemic racism
At a point, performance wise, I always believed Romo and Rivers were twins separated from draft. Both put up numbers, both great years and many subpar and underperforming years, having the talent but never capitalizing off of it, and finding ways to lose games.
Let’s be honest though…he’s actually really good at being an announcer
I've been binging your amazing vids. Great work!
Im an eagles fan who actually likes romo a lot
Patrick Crayton*
Exact revenge* (not “extract” revenge)
Regardless, this was as fair, impartial, and informed an evaluation and summary of my guy’s career, season-by-season, as I’ve ever seen. Well done.
romo was so good. his last season hurts me the most. if he is playing instead of dak, i really believe the cowboys could have made a superbowl run because that team was extremely strong. ill always love romo and and so happy for him and his family in the future they have secured for themselves!
We all know Romo would not have done better than dak in the divisional.
Romo was a great QB , yeah he had some bad picks but he also had a lot of come from behind wins , he was not a choker just unlucky , he carried some bad teams that had no business winning 8 games , he's much better than Dak! if we had Romo this year we're Superbowl champs period !! Same with 2018 and 2016
so romo is just undrafted philip rivers
This was excellent, you can sum up Romos career imho every praise he recieved was well deserved, every criticism he recieved were well deserved.
Roger staubuch?
Nvm he is overated
@@4392amtrak ehh I never understand why think roger was so good
@@4392amtrak passer rating of 83.9 isn’t great
Despite being 1 of my favorite NFL QBs?!- I see NO lies, here- Once again, GREAT video. Keep spittin’ that FIRE!!!... You’re AWESOME at this Sports Talk Game.👍🏽🖤💯
He just called my qb a crayon eater😂😂😂
Crayon eater threw 2 TD's to Amani Too-mah in that game
I wasn't expecting that line at the end I'm dying 😅😂🤣
At least the cowboys got the better QB in the end.
I can tell this is about to be a masterpiece
This is what a HOF resume looks like (Eli's accomplishments):
Top 10 in every counting stat/game starts
Second All-Time in game-tying/go-head TDs in 4th Q/OT
NFL records - most 4th Q passing TDs, most 4th Q passing plays of 25 Yds or greater (2011); consecutive games to start a career
Post Season records - single-season marks for yards, attempts, completions, and GWDs
SB records - completions to start the game, longest drive (10 minutes)
Firsts - A PB year leading a team to a winning record/division title with a Def ranked 27th in yds/25th in pts and 32nd in rushing (2011); QB to complete 2 go-ahead TD passes in 4th Q of a SB; QB to complete a SB winning TD pass in the closing minute of the game when a FG would not tie game; Multiple Conf Championship gms w/o a TO; multiple 4QCBs in the POs multiple seasons; Only multiple SB MVP without any HOFers, PBs or All Pros on offense; Most regular season passing yards by a SB winning QB; A 500 yard net passing game while leading a 4th QCB in regulation (wk 2 2012).
This is NOT what a HOF resume looks like (Romo chokes):
2006 - In his "Pro Bowl" year he had 12 turnovers to just 6 TDs in 6 of his final 7 games (the exception was his 5 TD game against NFL bottom feeder TB). including a 3 TO gm in the finale against Det with PO seeding on the line.
Romo’s stats were way better than Eli almost every year. And I like Eli a lot, but you’re just wrong.
I literally just thought that I would love to see you make a video about Tony Romo and you do holy shit.
Romo was a very good qb, but was a pro choke artist. Jerry gave him the tools to work with and he always found a way to blow it during crunch time.
My guy, he took 3 steps and made another football move. Obviously a catch
