- I had to figure out how to safely access this roof pitch, especially after covering the roof to contain messes.
I haven't yet managed to search out and order Ridge hooks online, and I needed a way to place a ladder against the roof up there to work from.
Well I already had the solution needed but I just had to realize it.
Pivit Tool, rubber padding, tested on an 8/12, it doesn't "Pivot" in this case.
I always condone working safety and following applicable safety regs, so please do that.

Friendly Tip! Always nice to see your videos! The gooseneck Guy! Keep up the good work! Cheers!
Hey Bro!! just finished my paperwork and saw your stickers and reminded me to check if you had anything new up. thanks for sharing the tip. much love and respect! Gabriel
Nice Man, That's not going anywhere.
I bitched about the price of the pivot, but that thing truly gives me piece of mind on staircases. Stay Safe Out There Brother,👍
Wow! Now I don't have to buy the hooks when I need them. I appreciate ya.
Only tested on this roof so far (8/12 pitch) and it's solid. I don't have any data for steeper roofs yet. Let me know how it works.
@@XCPainter just recently moved to south Alabama from Southern California where there's a lot of pitched roofs, never had to use or need to use ridge hooks but I know I'm going to have to sooner or later. Been painting for 30 years and always had to rig something up to reach something but this is something I never thought of and I know it'll work perfect. Thank you for sharing.
@@JerryFrye1966Awesome! Have fun out there.
Very nice!
Nice to see ya back??
Thanks.
What product is under the ladder to protect the roof?
There's landscape fabric laid across the roof, and there's black yoga mat, at the top, and the Pivit leveling tool
@@XCPainter Sweet. I'm going to see if I can buy a bunch of old yoga mats somewhere. Shamed to say I've never thought of putting something under the ladder on a roof, always just tried to be careful but I do notice some of the grit on the shingle gets knocked off.
Advance
Hey xc painter can we have a quick word ??
Sure, what's going on?
