    Had to sign into you tube just because the ignorance and lack of intelligence within the comments. For those of you who don't know, this is how to prep a roof for natural stone aka slate or tile. You can still apply sheathing such as plywood, but must use the batton system to allow for the the material to breath, specifically slate. If you apply it straight to sheathing it will rot your roof.

    1) ветровых окон нет в доме на крыше для проветривания холодного чердака;
    2) гидроизоляция на коньке крыше разрезается по всей длине конька для проветривания между гидроизоляцией и материалом крыши;

      @@joevillarreal9953 standard install in countries that build buildings to last and roof life span is measured in 100s of years and not 10years. Just bc you have been brainwashed by the USA shit building industry to go faster cheaper dummer and no care about waste or life cycle does not make you smart or rellevant. Please expand your horizons and understand that everything in usa that has to do with construction is 100% sheds that constantly need repair, modufication and the owner moving to a new place within 10 years. You dont know what the industry is built on, you total disconnect from quality long lasting buildings. And your comment is a sign that their brain washing has worked.

      Why so Angry??
      All I asked was for some decking plywood first BEFORE you start adding layers of complicated rows of roofing material.
      Of course it's going to last long if you put all those layers on top.
      What is your REAL problem?
      US roofing standards or when you someone replies to your comment
      And reply like an unhinged idiot?

    • @josephv5346
      @josephv5346 5 лет назад +3

      @@joevillarreal9953 i am angry when people just repeat propaganda of the building industry without a moment of tought. I am writing bc most people in the usa follow the BS and your comment (nothing personal with you) just renforce that mentality. There is a cold roof and a hot roof system, there is slate, metal, tile, flat and many other roofing systems they all have been perfected for 100s of years. This particular setup is for tile roofs. One of the main advantages of a cold tile roof is that you can open the tile at any time from the attic and climb onto the outside without needing ladders. You can also replace broken tiles from the inside. The fact that you call for sheathing anywhere in this system is messed up. And it makes this messed up by making a public post. Its like me posting 1+2=678 under a video where a math PhD shows 10 proofs that 1+2=3.
      So this is a +100year design that has been perfected from the roofing guilds in europe or whatever it was called back then. By 10000s of roofing masters over generations and was done to make the longest lasting and most practical roof support structure.
      Now you come and say the doesnt matter it needs plywood ontop of the rafters. 1+2=7... i am angry at the ignorance and the implication of the underline idea that shingle roofs are any good. They are a spit in everyone's face by consuming resourses for no reason other then greed

    This video was posted in 2011. Some Building codes allowed for this "No sheathing"(?) required - ALTHOUGH I would not my house built like this. According to my Allstate Insurance claims adjuster, No housewrap is required by South Carolina building codes, and certainly NOT in Kershaw county, where I live. Found this out after a storm blew the siding off my house, allowing rain water into the house through the gaps in the wall sheathing.

    • @TheCariboucanuck
      @TheCariboucanuck 5 лет назад +3

      Felt paper is trash and hasn't been used on a French roof (where this style of tile and steel roofing is done) for over 30 years. The water tight membranes we lay over the rafters have enough elasticity to forgive a lightly misplaced foot but anything more requires a repair patch and a round of drinks for the crew. A roofer here quickly learns how to be nimble and mindful when walking around on the rafters or they find another trade.

      @@vinceking7878 In hurricane country that is called a 'wing' not a 'roof'. Cause it is going to fly away. wouldn't meet minimum shear or uplift, etc. And on and on. Like doesn't gaf said, too much wrong to explain it all

      I am not a fully qualified carpenter yet, and we don't really have hurricanes and tornadoes in the UK

      I guess that all those batons are going to be ripped off if a wind pulls straight upwards. It needs joinery/some kind of clamping system??
      That roof would probably be fine over here.

      Amen. Next to impossible to put on. How can the carpenter walk the roof where there's nowhere to walk? That felt paper sure won't hold the weight

    WTF Is that mess? Gotta Say I never seen such a mess in my life , Made me tired just watching course after course of wood ; Little bit of wind and that shit would be 3 states away ; If that's the new way to do roofs Think I would stay OLD SCHOOL with plywood decking , Wink
