It's crazy to think that between them and the Grateful Dead from this era, the dead would still have the most of its members from 55 years ago still living. Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzman, Mickey Hart, and Tom Constanten are all still kicking.
No "Peacocking" just people who played for free till people got it and started coming to see them. The greatest I can't believe that Dwayne didn't "tap" anywhere in his solo😄
@@PaulZimmerman-t4k Duane utilized a technique of using the pick to tap a single note on the fretboard. Does it on Elizabeth Reed and Whipping Post. Cool effect, not like modern rock players.
Such a sophisticated, tight band. Magnificent! This was like a shooting star or comet - intense and then they're gone. They were at the pinnacle in this concert.
From one of the Best Live albums . Allman Brothers Band Live @ Fillmore East. Remains a personal Firm Favourite, from way back '71 (If memory serves me well) ❤
Awesome video. Shows the band in full and in complete harmony. Individually impresssive, but unmatched in whole. What vision Duane had to accumulate such talent.
Whoooooa, hang on here!! Dickey is using a Fender Twin. Can anyone see what Duane is using????? When he goes to the lead pickup it sounds like a Twin also.
That look Duane gives Dickey for being a little off on the bridge at the end of his solo 😆 This is so great - -thank you to whomever cleaned this up so well!!!
So sad Greg, Dicky and Duane are all gone. They will make a nice band if they are together playing "Blue Sky". Dicky actually got a lot better when they lost Duane because he had to step up. If Duane hadn't left so young, Duane and Dicky together would have been a joy to watch. And, Greg's vocals are some of the best in the blues.
I saw the ABB in this time period with this line up of players. I had the first studio album I think but the ABB live was a whole different thing. Not enough is said about Barry Oakley. He had taken a Fender Jazz Bass and added a Guild pickup in the neck position. The band referred to it as the "tractor" and he played with a pick. He was the third ingredient in the the guitar section actually playing both fundamentals and melodies.
Fantastic! Based on everyone's clothing, it's from the same winter show from the Fillmore East that has been floating on RUclips? I started seeing both the ABB & the Dead in 1974 so obviously I never saw Duane or Pig Pen ...how I wish there was more video of Duane. Given I live in metro ATL I plan to head to the Big House, but waiting to hear any information from the Betts family about their intentions. Sure would be nice if Dickey was at Rose Hill too.
This is just great, best I've seen, thank you!. Brings back such good memories. We never sat down through a concert though! The whole venue would be rocking.
I always marvel at Duane and Dickey (and I always will).... but listen to Berry on that bass! Crazy to think that, depending on what month this was, Duane would be gone in a year or less. 24 years old. What a shame.... and Berry was not too far behind.
I saw them in the Summer of '70 at the college at Stoney Brook opening for Leslie West and Mountain, and Yes They Were Awesome. The 600 lb gorilla in the room is. .IS THERE ANY MORE OF THIS SHOW AVAILABLE? As others have said this is the best early footage I've seen.
It's a shame that it took until his death for Dickey to get the attention he deserves (outside the guitarist community). As brilliant as Duane absolutely was, AFAIK, he only solely wrote Little Martha, all the other brilliant ABB songs we love were covers or Gregg/Dickey tunes. He's only on a few tracks on Eat a Peach, and nothing after that. "ABB" prob should have stood for Allman Betts Band, which exists now, but that's another story...
Duene and Dickey at there BEST. All Members who past away. R.I.P.❤❤❤
For me, the Best Band ever on this Planet.🥰🥰🥰
Jaimo is now the last man standing..RIP Dickie & hang in there Jaimo🍑
I can't imagine being the last one left with such a legacy. All my brothers gone. It just wouldn't seem real, another life.

Greatest slide player ever,RIP.
Folks, no pitch control, no auto tune-just pure God given talent. We’re blessed to hive this! 😇👨👨👧🎹🎼🥁🎸🎤 8:38
No pedal board!
NO WAH WAH!!!!!!!!!!. There is a God.
Just fingers on strings touching wood. 🎸😁

So little footage of Duane and Berry together, this is a gem.
The Finest American band. Rest in peace Dickey Betts.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers comes to mind.
One thing I've never "felt" on any recording is the power of those drums in concert. You felt them in your gut.
truth. the closest we’ll get is At Fillmore East. But nothing like the real thing.
Like a locomotive, they would rev up in the beginnig, and by the end you were flying!
It's so fitting that the best live video of Duane is at The Fillmore East
RIP Dickey, Duane, Greg.
"Butch" Trucks - January 24, 2017 R.I.P.
Berry Oakley
Straight out of rehab rip Duane you da man
Duane, Berry, Butch, Gregg and Dickey
Thank you Duane, Dickey, Gregg; grateful to have seen you all back then!
Listening to them leaves you with goose bumps incredible
Such a sophisticated, tight band. Magnificent! This was like a shooting star or comet - intense and then they're gone. They were at the pinnacle in this concert.
Dicky had a little finger like a fishing pole... his unique playing will be missed. RIP, Forrest.
Rest in peace Dickey.
Miss you Dickey. Also, let’s not forget Butch Trucks. ❤❤ 4:35
I saw Derek Trucks in concert a few years ago with Eric Clapton's band .
Derek was great . It could almost have been called Derek and the Dominoes .🙂
Fantastically clear footage thank you!!! ❤️
Never saw Duane live so it's kind of surreal when I see this video.
RIP to all of 'em..except Jaimo
that look Duane gives Dickey when Dickey extends the transition into the next verse ... never get tired of that side eye lol
Good lord these guys were so young when they wrote this masterpiece.
holy sh**T!! Incredible..!
Taken from us to soon. The music they would have continued to make would have shook the world. The powerhouse of all powerhouse bands.
From one of the Best Live albums . Allman Brothers Band Live @ Fillmore East. Remains a personal Firm Favourite, from way back '71 (If memory serves me well) ❤
This footage is not from At Fillmore East which was recorded in March 1971 - it comes from a show at the same venue on September 23, 1970.
Absolutely astonishing. I wish there was more footage of Berry Oakley but I certainly could hear him. Excellent video and audio restoration here.
Many thanks!
Awesome video. Shows the band in full and in complete harmony. Individually impresssive, but unmatched in whole. What vision Duane had to accumulate such talent.
Still gives me chills......!
Whoooooa, hang on here!! Dickey is using a Fender Twin. Can anyone see what Duane is using????? When he goes to the lead pickup it sounds like a Twin also.
It looks like a Marshall stack
Duane always used a Marshall 50w half stack.
That look Duane gives Dickey for being a little off on the bridge at the end of his solo 😆 This is so great - -thank you to whomever cleaned this up so well!!!

Also reunited with Barry Oakley and Butch Trucks. Jamoe is the only original brother left.

1970 and the ballroom patrons are all sitting down. Luckily I went off grid before the audience was corralled and seated.
Sublime! Butch looks like he's tripping "major" balls. RIP Dickie & brothers. The road goes on forever...
Living in middle Ga in the 1970s felt like the center of the music world!! RIP Dicky Betts.....
South Florida here, me too! Saw them a bunch and have loved them for all these years.
@@subaru7233 I spent some time in Macon Georgia during the mid to late 70s and what a time to be part with the great music of the time
It don't get any better than this
Masterpiece !!! ✨❤
thank you mr. Cleveland !!!!!!
You're right, the best footage ever!
thank you Lord for my whippin post!
I saw these guys at Duke, and even then, young as I was, I realized something was going on, the likes of which I'd never see again. I was right.
THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!!!!
So great. Thank you!
Thank you! Excellent enhancement. Please find more of the original “Greatest Band in the Land”!
Love that song
How does one family have so much talent?

more close ups of his hands playing were needed....thanks for the great quality vid tho
This was my wedding song.
One word.........WHEW!!! (Thanks for posting)
Definitely the best I've seen.. Thanks for sharing.
This great video is from the Fillmore east 1971 if my memory serves me right
1970
Thank you for this. Just magnificent to see. Really. Thank you.
That's the best video I've ever seen of Duane. Good work.
What a (insert F'in word here) band.......Still have the double Fillmore album.. and I no longer use a a turntable..
Dickey was on fire 🔥. I think Duane might have had a bit of cocaine nose that night.
Me's thinks your right,,,,
Duane did not use coke
@@itguru2037 must had a cold then.
Great to see this, thanks James !!

When is this ? Fucking great!
If this is from 1970, is it
from SUNY at Stony Brook?
Fillmore East, there's four songs, two are missing vocals
I was at that '70 Stoney Brook show, they were opening for Leslie West and Mountain....bad move for Leslie...
Lead and rhythm guitar? How about 2 leads that can share the work.
🙄 You gotta call somebody the rhythm player when that's what they're playing 🤦
Butch looks about to jump out of his skin

Was that drummer added because of guilt?
A 59 les Paul is what Duane is playing!!
Duane's greeter picking is very tasty, bummer his life ended shortly after this was recorded, now Dickie is dead too.
