Been using Pro-Tec powder for several years. I have smashed these jigs off rocks, side of the boat and have had very few chips. The bottom line is you do it right and you will lose the jig before you chip it. Great product. Thanks for the video !
I would like give this a try. very interesting. Not sure what brand of jigs to buy? wounding if you could help me out? We are fishing live bait and plastics.
I am having problems with my painted jigs that are non lead. I use Tin mix and can't cure at 350 in the oven because the melting point is about 280. So my finish chips easily. Is there another way or best advise?
Philip check out this link. Brush a single coat of this seal coat and let it dry for 24 hours and you will have chip free jigs without the hassle of baking them in an oven! store.do-itmolds.com/Seal-Coat-_p_807.html
Troy check out the link below for more information on that. There are some good photos on page 2 showing the differences. The Essential Series mold ($40) retains about 90% of the detail of a CNC mold ($90) custombaits.com/index.php?topic=6652.0
Technically, no you do not NEED to. Pro Tec states this on their jar. However, curing it will make it stronger and more chip resistant. Most jigs on the market are just painted and will chip easily as it is. I personally do not bake mine because I don't have a place to safely bake them.
You can make stencils of dots, slashes, stripes ETC and sprinkle a second color over the original blade color making some awesome two color pattern blades. Chartreuse with black dots or orange with black dots or make a classic like the daredevil red and white color pattern on a blade .
