Matt you the man. This video could not come at a better time for me. There are little to no selection here in Tuscaloosa Al. They stay bought out! Going to order some of that RIGHT now! Last post I ask about the trolling motor spooking Fish.Checked the motor Vs others I had little to no difference but your response got me to thinking About The lateral line of fish and how they feel vibration. The poor old prop was beat all up(lot of rock around here). Took it off and cleaned it up with a rasp and sandpaper. TOTAL difference in how they react! Who new! Maybe you LOL. Caught a limit ++++ first trip back out! And that is saying a lot on my home lake! Now I go in search of 2+lb fish and new spots! Thanks!
Matt, thanks for the crappie jig head painting tips. I have been holding them by the hook. I will definitely give the needle nose to the eye of the jig a try. Save your thumb and get a single candle holder and some cheap candles at the dallor store or Goodwill. I have noticed when painting pony head jigs the time varies also to the size of the jig. If I heat to long my swivels fall out. 😀 Here is my time for my pony head jigs below. 1/32 > 3 seconds 1/16 > 5 seconds 1/ 8 > 7 seconds Men fish pink would make a great bumper sticker!
Unfortunately all these lead jigheads that are getting lost are poisoning the water which means poisoning the fish as well as ourselves. I'm an angler too, so I'm as guilty as the next guy. Some states have banned lead fishing tackle. Something to think about...
I'm a mom taking my son fishing (trying) for the first time. Your videos have been SO HELPFUL to me!! Thank you.
Kellie, it’s so awesome that you take your son fishing. Are you in the East TN area? If so let me know. I’m sure we can get him on some Crappie.
I also use a toaster oven and bake my painted heads for 15 mins at 200 degrees which keeps the the paint from chiping off if dropped for hits a rock.
Nice. I’m gonna try that!

Yes sir!!
Thanks for the video, just pickin this up recently. What conditions do you like that redhead for?
Great vid. I use a candle to save my thumb.
Great tip!
I used to use the needle nose pliers like you are doing, but I have developed a different technique that works just as will and is so much faster.
Would like to hear what you do.
I heard of guys baking them also not sure if it is needed those do you ever have chips sir?
So you don't bake them at all? Just hang them up? I'm about to get into this.
great info !
Do you need a clear coat of any sorts on them after they cool
Wow,that was easy
You need a candle. Good video brother
So, I have my paints ordered. Where is the best place to order bulk jigheads. 1/32, 1/16, lightwire. 1/8 stronger hooK!
Lightwirehooks.com
Good info. What dictates what color jighead you would use?

Wanting 100 count. Thank you! Gary
What colors work best and when to use what color. I have no clue.
You ever paint a eye on there?
Do you bake your jig heads the pro tech powder talks about putting them in oven to “Bake”
I don’t. They last very well without the bake. I usually will loose the jog before I knock the paint off
Thanks for the info brother I’m in harrogate tn myself what lakes do you guide on I would be interested in going on one this spring
Ft. Loudon and Tellico
What is the durability of the paint? Some heads I use chip off in a couple hours. Other brands hold up for weeks.
These are incredibly durable.
How you use spike it jig and dip
Just ordered some paint.. thanks for the info

I started tieing Crappie and Bass jigs ,and painting them. I live in Southern IL. And Crappie are starting to come on
Do you not bake them in the oven
I don’t, I usually break a jig off before I knock the paint off.
3000? The company says 2oz jar does 450 8th oz jig heads.
